Yeah, I know right, but it was the driver that went to police station himself, what if the driver just pretends nothing of such happens and probably after intensive investigation, they find out she orders that driver and you know the driver can actually claim the lady asked to be dropped at a bus stop cox she wants to meet someone there and he dropped her without knowing her whereabouts from there but the driver didn't do that and went to station. But do you know that if that trip was offline, the driver is safe coz he will just pretend he didn't carry anyone like that and there's no way they would have known the girl entered his car..cat...

In this case, offline would have totally make him avoid being detained.
This case is a tricky one, and any police force in the world would detain him.

Unless there is proof that she jumped in the water, he would be charged to court

This is the kind of case we pray not to see.

But if it Yahoo boys, God has already delivered you.

Just stop when you are stopped. Identify as Uber and keep quiet. No go form familiarity or intercessor

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I said, the guy took them online and why will he claim they are close associate of him to the police when they are just random people he carried online...

I guess the reason why they detained him was because 2 people fled away, and it was his car they ordered while they found gun on them.

See ehn, make we no just carry anybody wey go put us for trouble, either online or offline won't save us if we carry person wey get contraband.
Yes, online

Or are you saying you are responsible for what your rider has in their bag or on their phones?

I have heard cases where drivers tried to evade checkpoints because the rider (A yahoo boy) promised a big tip.

Police have this unwritten respect for Uber drivers. Even when SARS was at its peak, they let us go if we identify ourselves as a driver.

MrReeseG, pls kindly chat blessing and ask her about Ayo case that was arrested some years back due to the riders he carried, tell her to tell you what actually happened.

He was a friend that I introduced to blessing as I introduced you to her as well...

People think police in Nigeria will just pardon someone coz they were on an online trip.

I even read a news on this same nairaland where a driver took someone on an online trip and on getting to 3mb, the girl asked she needed to piss and the driver waited for her to piss only to realize the girl has jumped inside water and the driver went to report the case and they detained him despite him showing them it was an online trip...
This does not relate to what you said earlier.

Even in USA, the driver will be detained, unless there is proof that she stopped the car and jumped.

I really dislike how people assume things, I'm telling you that nothing once your rider is a criminal, either online or offline, they will still arrest you, infact, if not that, the guy was driving company car then, he will be locked in cell for a very long time.

How did they come to know he was arrested, he was supposed to remit to the company but since they couldn't reach him, they reached his family and his family couldn't reach him too so, they had to track the car and that's how they got to know he was arrested and when we asked him if the trip is offline, he said it was online, infact, he didn't even end the trip, I think bolt automatically ended it....

Be like una no know police, do you want tell me that bolt don't know people can order online while you turn it offline?
That is why i said your guy is not telling you the whole truth. Maybe he said he knew them initially, or he tried some funny way to evade the police.

You don't need to tell me about Police. I have encountered these issues few times; Last year, i spent a night in December in the station, and i wrote it on Nairaland.

Like i said, they are not stupid.

The moment you can prove that you were contracted to carry the culprit from point A to B, your case is special.

Are you Uber? Yes...That's all they need to know what to do next.

I have seen drivers pretend to know their passengers or even defend them during a stop and search. Na that one dey backfire quick quick

See, either offline or online, if anything goes south, you're a suspect to whatever it is, online won't save you from the mess cox bolt will never show up to save you from whatever mess you find yourself...

Online isn't guaranteed for safety, the prayer is not to jam problem...

This makes me remember my friend that was arrested in igando some years back, he carried some guys, they were 4 in numbers, in the afternoon and police stopped him to search his car, while he stopped for searching, those guys just ran away, they were able to catch 2 of them and they found gun on them, my friend was arrested despite showing them its an online trip, to cut the story short, my friend involved lawyer and they took him to ikeja, he spent about 3 weeks in police custody before they later let him go with a payment of 450k.

So, whether it's an online or offline, it doesn't guarantee any safety, both for driver and rider, if you want to argue it, what's the difference between indrive trip and offline trip.

The only thing online trip can do is to be able to track your last ride, but whatever that will happen to you, either the driver or the rider would have happened.
Either your guy is lying to you, or he was part of them.

Police is wicked, but they are not stupid.

The moment those two can confirm that you are just a driver, the police will let you go.

Heck, if you can prove that you were just a cab driver, you will be excused.

Or when their people start migrating in large numbers to Lagos or other western states we start complaining.

I cannot believe that people are trying to justify the worst candidate having won an election which if democracy functions well should not ever go pass party screening.

There is no comparison between Fayose & this Monday guy, Ekiti doesn't suffer fools. There are too many video interviews of Fayose, you can be intelligent and street smart as well, Tinubu is a very good example of someone who can be at home in Isale Eko setting and still turn on phonetics when in London.

It is not the grammar with this guy, it's the thought process, someone should please share that video of his solution to the power problem.

Bolt hasn't been forthcoming on request for me. I set destination to ajah from Sabo in the morning and I don't get any request.

Meanwhile, how do you charge on offline, knowing that bolt can show you 7k and show rider 5800. At the end, they will give bonus and say collect 5800
Even on bonus, you'll still see the actual fare as a rider.
