No. They are not comparable. The issue raised was the 5% commission Malami agreed to pay the company and that’s the reason Buhari ordered for the termination of the contract.

1. The contract was signed by Malami as the Minister of Justice and Trobell International Limited. The contract came as a result of a Supreme Court consent judgement to go after those unremitted product sharing contract revenue.

2. When Buhari heard that the Malami entered a contract with Trobell to recover debt from IOC, he ordered him to terminate the contract and ask why the Department of Petroluem Service and FIRS can’t work on the debt recovery themselves. He even questioned how they arrive at the 5% commission to be paid.

Whether they are registered as a debt recovery company or not, I don’t know and I have read nothing of such.

Now back to the power issue, I wish I know how to search thread on Twitter, I will have sent you the link to the series of thread Sam Amadi, The Former Executive Chairman of NERC wrote power the privitalization of the those discos and gencos and how it will cost the FG billions of dollars to revoke their license.

Why do you think the Discos have been rejecting power sent to them, failed to issue meters to customers, non compliance to EPSRA and the likes. Do you know how many times this FG has threatened to revoke their licenses? You know why they haven’t done it till date? Because it will cost Billions of dollars to do so.

That’s the kind of power sector this admin inherited. A failed privitilization.
I attended one Power Nigeria Summit two or three years ago at Landmark in VI

A director of IBEDC spoke about the problems of the power sector. Can't remember much about his presentation, but some of the major problems they(and us) have is

- TCN; The transmission of Nigeria is quite bad. A large chunk of the power generated are lost during transmission before it gets to them

- The FG are one of the chronic debtors.

He also talked about failure on their part to provide prepaid meters and some other issues sha

Nigeria's power matter is complicated abeg. Maybe if every state is allowed to provide its own energy, it may be better. Everybody go sit up

Lolzz.
Let me share one painful one I had.

Took a rider to FESTAC one early morning. (7am)
Then got a request from Lagos-badagry expressway. (destination: Ajah)
Rider was on the other side of the express, directly opposite FESTAC first gate.

I called rider and told her that I'm inside Festac, and I have to go down to alakija to make a turn, then connect the middle lane to where she is, and it'll take me 15mins ETA.
She said no problem.

I drove all the way down to Alakija, connect to the middle lane and drove to pick up point. Called rider two times, but she wasn't picking up. Few seconds later I got cancellation notification.

I got stranded and confused. I can't go back to festac, I can't drive back to Alakija, I can't connect to Amuwo odofin nor Orile, cos I'm on the middle lane. My only option is to drive down to Ijora, connect through Costain to surulere or connect through Eko bridge to Marina. And there was heavy traffic climbing that Ijora bridge that morning.

ETA to Costain alone was 45mins.

Me....
grin grin grin grin

Next time, don't turn and go and meet them.

Ask them to cross over and meet you. Then start the trip and begin the journey to Alakija

But honestly fashola fall his hand.. that guy after all his mouth wasn't worth all the talks.
The power sector in Nigeria is messed up. Buhari just promised something that wasn't feasible

Do you know how many MoU have been signed even before 2015? I personally think one of the reasons Fashola was given that ministry was to see how some of all these agreements can be tackled and disengaged

Even if a government wants to start from the scratch, there are still agreements made that it's difficult to breach

Most of the biggest markets for commodities are not even found in the North

The biggest spare part market is not in the North
The biggest electronics market is not in the North
The most industrialised city is not on the North

You should be giving us facts since you've stayed there.

I have spent one full year in Kebbi state, roaming from one local government to another, and I'll tell you that there is nothing there. The Northerners I saw that are rich are politicians or public servants

One thing about Northerners is that most aren't flamboyant in their lifestyle. Even the Aboki you see selling suya is making it big.

I will never forget when the aboki selling suya close to a friend's place (relatively cool street) slumped, when guys got his ATM and went to withdraw some cash so he can be attended to, they saw over 400k in his account. Guys were shocked, the wretched looking aboki with over 400k? Some guys started doing self appraisal on the spot.

Those who argue that the wealth distribution isn't even aren't wrong but in terms of wealth irrespective of the distribution, those guys are on another level.
Did you make this conclusion because of the aboki experience?

Nobody makes it big by selling suya

There was a time I was driving uber and I had about 1 million plus in my account. If I had slumped and you saw my account, you'll definitely say every Uber driver is making it big

No use that guy as specimen oh. Him case dey different

Ask those igbo millionaires the reason why they prefer doing their business in northern states
So Igbo millionaires prefer doing business in the North

It also means Yoruba millionaires will prefer doing business there too

And definitely the Northern millionaires will be cashing out from that same region

So you are saying the North is the most lucrative part for Business in Nigeria?

Go to Kaduna and Abuja and see power-bikes/cars every day, not only on sunday.

Tell us how many Power bikes and exotic cars we will see in

Sokoto
Gusau
Dutse
Gombe
Yola
Maiduguri

Birnin Kebbi
Minna

All these are still North. Why aren't you bringing them up?

Expert.... You dey fall hands no be small o. You schooled in Niger, yet you are claiming Northerners are Richer than the Southerners?!

Have you seen any State as poor as Niger State in the southern Part?! From Mokwa to Bida?! Lapai to Minna?!

Secondly, few Pics of Northerners with flamboyant Lives mean NOTHING?! How many Northerners (in Thousands) are rich?! The case of Northerners is as simple as saying; Rich are getting richer, while poor are getting poorer.

I followed the Trend on Twitter, and to be honest, nothing was spectacular. They keep regurgitating same Pictures.

Unilike Northerners, wealth are shared across Everyone in the South. Nothing to be proud of - having 2 Billionaires in the midst of 100,000 Kobonaires.
The simple point he is misunderstanding

A billionaire in the North, or few from there may be the richest in Nigeria

But if we begin list billionaires and millionaires from both regions, the north won't even come close
