Properties / Re: Your Annual Rent Shouldn't Exceed Your Two Months Salary. If It Does by J0hnTrevolt(m): 4:34pm On Nov 19, 2022
PAPIJAID:
This may sound somehow but I tell you my peeps, the OP is very right. If we continue to live beyond this we will continue to live in abject penury. Im a salary earner, I rent my family house 4 hours away to my place of work @less than 20% of my two months salary and I got a very unbeffing one at a trecking distance to my place of work. Wisdom is key here. One must find a way to save money by fire by force or else there wont be progress. Save money and invest no matter what. For me my principle is if I wont work anywhere I wont be able to save money.
This is exactly what I did beginning of this year. I relocated my family to a neighbouring state where they have comfort and peace of mind at 20% of my annual income and rented an unbefitting single room of 60k which is 5 minutes drive to my place of work. I'm compelled to travel every weekend to the neighbouring state to be with my family. Sometimes I ask myself if am right?

This good for nothing govt cannot be trusted. ASUU understand them well
ASUU is not foolish to stand their ground. ASUU received last salary February. Nasu/ssanu received theirs last April.

Yet Nasu/ssanu chose to be the first to call off.

Between the two unions who's more threatened by hunger? February or April?

Whenever non academics are referred to as supportive staff make una no dey vex.

Nasu/ssanu will always be a second fiddle.

Guy, you are trying at 109k. Try seeing if you can get a better-paying job. 3 kids is too much in today's Nigeria. The economy is very bad.
I agree with you. We didn't envision the economy to nosedive.

Acidosis:
Don't bother relocating. The cost of relocation (i.e. moving your property from one place to another) and agency cost will wipe off whatever amount you intend to save in 2-3 years.

It pays to stay where you are and keep pushing. As a married man, your one month earning should be able to cover 90-100% of your annual rent, if you value your peace and sanity.

I wonder why it took you so long though to realize that your income is too low to run a home. You had triplets??
I wasn't feeling it much but my last baby just started school so the finances are now overwhelming.

Do u advise I shouldn't move out? 30k out of 109k salary is OK? Matter of fact is that the rent use to be 300k but it was increased to 360k so mine will expire by May.

U are really trying my brother.

U know when it comes to family matter even after the advice u will get here,u still need to reach out to your wife so that both of u can find a lasting solution to this financial insufficiency.

The truth is,she needs a job to augment your salaries or business.Further more, talk on ways to save and secure your future. U can't be working and not saving and investing except you want to keep this rat race journey a perpetual one.

Similarly, hang your coat according to your heigh...I think this line would help u to explain why u should stick to the house rent u can afford without much stress.

Thank u and wish u the best of luck.

Thank u so much Sir.

U should open up on how much u earn specifically if not,it would be hard to advice u on how best to manage your finances prudently and judiciously.

Although,u may have been managing it well but in all,set your wife up and let her start contributing something to the house and lessen the burden on u.

Thank u sir. My monthly income is 109k. My monthly rent is 30k, feeding, groceries, car maintenance, school fees for 3, everything. At the end of the month am left with nothing.

Advice please. I'm a family man based in Ogun state with wife and 3 small kids. Wifey not working(no job yet).
Please I need advice on how I can manage my finances knowing that the kids school fees, rent, feeding, medical all comes from my salary.

I have made a calculation and I found out that my rent takes 28% of my salary.
I have considered moving out to a lesser place but the cheapest 2 bedroom flat I can get is 300k. Where I am presently staying is upto standard, a reasonable power supply, prepaid meter, constant water and the rent is 360k. A good one bedroom flat goes for 240k

Please advise me on what to do in other to atleast have small change in my pocket cos after all expenses am left with nothing until the next salary shows.
Can I possibly stay in a one bedroom apartment which will cost 240k with wife and 3 kids? Or I should continue paying 360k.
I just need tips on how to manage finances cos things are getting tougher by the day in this Buhari economy. Tnx

@Repairguru be a man of your words. Being a witness to the day this matter was brought up u confessed u promised to pay him on Thursday. Thursday came u didn't pay only to wake up Friday morning to see your family on NL. You also promised to pay yesterday and failed, today is almost coming to an end. This is a matter that has dragged since January and this particular thread has run for a week now with ur name on everyone's lips. Including those that will wait for u at mama peace joint cheesy

It is good to give people benefit of the doubt even when u know they are telling lies. Kindly halt all ur plans for now and expect him to disappoint again.
This move wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't brought up on nairaland cos am sure if he fails by tomorrow you are under no obligations not to expose him everywhere and we nairaland family will assist you in exposing him the more.

Just one act of humility, am sorry, will redeem ur image.

And just one honorable act of refund, will portray u a hero!

But like every pharaoh, their hearts are always hardened to destruction.

I've read the whole story from beginning to the end. Am so sorry to say, if I was in a court of justice, I'd find Repairguru guilty as charged.

The honorable thing to do is to return the money to the aggrieved with a promise to close this thread. And flashxxx, this thread has to be locked as soon as u get your money.
If all scammers on NL are dealt like this am sure that sanity will prevail because scammers give genuine online traders a bad name.

I would just drain and refill but question.. did it just suddenly get low or you don't know?

Thank u ma. I do not think it suddenly got low it still has some fluid on the LOW mark. I've driven it for 5 years and never changed nor refilled.

Can any of those power steering fluid they sell at filling stations be good or any special fluid?
