Yeah, unlike those people who don't even know what's it's punishment, they just know it's a sin and then do it anyway... everyday.
There is nothing like fornication. It is just sex.

Yes blasphemy in Islam carries death penalty, BUT the sentence can ONLY be passed by a competent Sharia court. Just like it says in the Bible “
A mob cannot gather and murder someone accused of blasphemy and get away with it. In such case they shall all be arrested and tried for murder just like what happen in Kano few weeks back. About seven suspects were arrested including the person whom the initial quarrel started.

I couldn't finish reading that epistle cause it looks fabricated to me. But one most important flaw in the story was that the woman was killed by stoning for "adultery", but according to your story she was never married, therefore their act is simply fornication which doesn't carry death penalty in Islam rather it's lashes. So if a whole community of overzealous Sharia proponents couldn't mete a precise punishment for an offense as common as fornication then you should know every other decision they made might be an error and not conform with Islam.
I hope you do know there is a very big difference between religion and tradition/culture. From the story I can see you were referring to a certain people's culture and not what is sanctioned by Islam regarding marriage and courtship. Of course premarital intimacy is strongly forbidden in Islam, the lovers are not even allowed to be in a secluded place just the two of them because the third is going to be Satan who can tempt them to sin against God by committing fornication.
Sharia has allowed that she can take off her Hijab in front of him during courtship so he can see her physical features so that he can decide whether he likes what he sees or not. This is to avoid disappointments after marriage.
The prophet cautioned and prohibits forced marriages in whatever form, those who do it are clearly violating the prophet's command.
I'd like to conclude with this Hadith
Lashes as punishment for fornication??

And you think you follow a sensible doctrine?

I concur, and I really don't know how anyone in their right senses could imagine that it is. Worse than that, attempt to attribute self-awareness the inverse way - i.e: working from physical interactions of particles up to self consciousness rather than the other way round - i.e - soul using mind to control body.
Word salad. What a shame.

I'm good bro. Been kinda busy . But sadly winner01 has been banned for posting "distracting images" - an "offense" every known atheist on Nairaland commits . So why does winner01 get banned for this every damn time but not the atheists ?

Do you see what's going on here angry angry . Nairaland silences Christians by banning them ? undecided

4everGod:
Oh really? Hard for an atheist to become a Christian? Dude you do know that there is such a thing as google right? google about this your claim.
From this your opening comment, I can tell that you are suffering from a case of ignorance. I repeat, atheists rarely convert to christianity.
I have not even seen one atheist on Nairaland convert....the only conversion I have seen here is a "troll or pretend conversion" done to mock christians.

Here are some interesting google results
https://www.quora.com/It-seems-to-be-rare-for-atheists-to-become-believers-in-a-god-So-why-are-millions-of-Chinese-becoming-Christian
http://evolvingthoughts.net/2010/05/do-atheists-relapse/

4everGod:
Question? All the infrastructure and roads and schools and hospitals and all you have been enjoying here in Nigeria were built and established by who? Atheists? Corruption and greed and rape and stealing which you mentioned are found in everyone whose moral fiber has been eroded. There are those who have moral guidelines and there are those who dont. For example i recall an atheist here saying that he can circumvent the law if given the opportunity. As long as he is not caught he could kill, steal, rape among other vices and that it was the presence of law enforcement and cctvs that were just stopping him from doing those things.
There are two problems with your comment here

1) You are trying to say that christians do not do bad things.

2) You are also crediting christianity for the good things like schools and hospitals. What happened to the bad? The slavery and colonization? the child beating/abuse? The dumbing-down of intellect? The arrogance of MOGs and priests?

4everGod:
How are you dealing with increasing numbers of Atheist converts to Christianity and weak Christians being encouraged and made stronger right here on Nairaland every single day? People open threads to declare their salvation and transformation daily and even contact offline to declare so as well. Not a good news for you is it?
Lies. There are more people leaving christianity here on nairaland. My guy, just stop

4everGod:
What if your spouse of Child becomes a Christian what would you do? Besides do your people even know you are an atheist?
Dont answer a question with a question. I asked a simple question and it deserves a simple answer. What would you do if a close person to you became an atheist/

4everGod:
Following the trend on Nairaland including the threads i was on yesterday it is clear that Atheists are volatile, stingy, impatient, close-minded and reject the truth at every turn as their focus is simply to win arguments and never to admit to truth or error on their part.
Oh the irony. The intolerance and hatred that you just spewed in this comment shows that you are projecting.

4everGod:
In a nutshell your thread is devoid of content and any passion. Rather it begs for attention and restructuring. Talk is cheap my friend..Back it up with action as an atheist. Be more physical action driven and not literary limpness driven.
Then why comment? You make yourself look a bit silly.

4everGod:
Disclaimer: My comment here is simply complimentary and should not in any way be misconstrued to mean that i take this thread seriously or give it any import.
Then why comment at all??

1) What do you intend to achieve? I ask this because it is rare for an atheist to become a christian. You seem to be sowing seed on stony ground.

2) As a Nigerian christian, don't you think that the atheist have a strong argument against religion seeing that religious people have ruled Nigeria, yet we have nothing to show- corruption, greed, rape, stealing etc everywhere

3) How are you dealing with the increasing number of christian converts to atheism on nairaland everyday? People open threads about not going to church anymore every single week.

4) What if your spouse/child/parent becomes an atheist? What would you do?

5) Do you think that you are more moral (honest, charitable, calm, patient, open-minded) than the average atheist?

Well you both are wrong. I am not particularly enthused with logicboy's mind at all events.

I think I have explained sufficiently above why you are wrong in this, and needn't add more. There cannot even arise the question of psychology without a being to whom that psychology is attached. This is the same way there cannot arise the question of a body without a being to whom that body belongs. That being, as I have shown you, cannot be mere meat. I cannot repeat myself hoarse and so perhaps I have to leave it at that. Whatever I say, you say its wordy nonsense even where I use nursery school words. So I can't help you further.

Go fetch a spirit.
That might help.

but then again, I'm not interested in your word salad.

Oh, this is most most untrue. It may be true of religion but is most most untrue of spirituality. And of course in terms of spirituality - such does not apply to third world countries alone. Not at all. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Spirituality is an irresistible internal yearning for truth and identity. There could by no means be anything selfish about it.

It is a compulsion towards the mighty onwards.
4 glorious years and baba deepsight aka deepardo has not stopped making word salads full of verbose nonsense.

The only difference between spirituality and religion is that spirituality is less tangible. Spirituality gets you nothing, hence, the title- "who spirituality don epp?"

What has anyone truly gained from this so called spirituality? Knowledge? Love? Happiness? The fact remains that every good thing in life can be gotten without spirituality.

Spirituality is just a voodoo smokescreen for the dishonest to sound mystical. What you call "spiritual" is just a glorified mystical adjective put on a normal event. Examples-

-Smoking weed is seen as spiritual. Yet, most weed smokers smoke it for the high or calming effect.
-Meditation is seen as spiritual. Yet, many people meditate just for relaxation and to clear thoughts.

There is no such thing as spirituality- there are only people that use term to sound mystical or esoteric.

Thank you very much.

Neo Cortex, the above is the answer to your question on how being spiritual is beneficial to any person.

Now, I will add the following. In the first place, your question is odd. For it pre supposes that the spirit is different from the person. This is not the case. You are Spirit, period. There fore you cannot ask that question in the first place. It is like asking how being the being that you are benefits that being. It is an incongruous question.

Secondly, asking for proof of the spirit is like asking for proof of your own voice, your own self.

All the proof rests in your very existence and is evinced in everything about you every passing moment. All you have to do is stop for a moment and behold your own existence.

Be still. . . . .
Spirituality at the end of the day is as meaningless as the meaning of life.

Spirituality means different things to different people. Christian, pagans, hindus etc all talk about spiritually but yet end in different conclusions.

Music is spiritual to people.
Some people see worship as spiritual.

They are prosperous religious countries and non-prosperous ones. The same thing also applies the non-religious nations. My overall point is that religion is not necessarily the cause of the backwardness in those countries. It might be a factor but it certainly isn't the major factor.
you might be right.

However, the fact remains that religion is a major factor in Nigeria.

I wouldn't mind if we were liberal about our religion.

When I mean liberal, I mean the Yoruba muslim that will chill with you even if he doesnt drink. Compare that to the conservative northern almajiri that will decapitate you and your bottle of beer on sight.

Young man , stop giving me data from online polls and questionnaires . The people who take part in these polls are are infinitesimal percentage of the nation's population . The other Norway poll involved 4,000 out of close to 5 million Norwegians . Do you see what I'm talking about ? And people who usually show interest in those polls are the atheists because they are interested in being seen as a growing community

Denmark has 80 percent of its population identify as Christians while the rest are either officially unaffiliated or belong to other religions

If you asked me if I'm religious ,I'd tell you no cos I hardly go to church and don't consider religion important . How many times will I tell you people this huh But do I identify as a Christian? yes !
Ignorance and hypocrisy from KingEbuka
-How can you be against sampling of the Danish citizens and then quote that 80% of the Danish citizens are christian? That 80% too is a result of sampling but with bad questions!!!

Lies from KingEbuka
-How can you claim with no evidence whatsoever that atheists are more likely to respond to polls/questionnaires? The evidence is that atheists and irrilegious people are less likely to identify themselves on forms. This is a known statistical problem with counting atheists globally.

ehem....you dont consider religion important and you dont go to church.....yet you tell us that we should believe in your christian God? So you have been trolling for Jesus all this time? ****
