Or be framed for armed robbery. ![]() A motorist, Niya Ezra, says he was forced to bribe four policemen attached to the Ondo State Police Command’s Fast Strike Squad N10,000 to avoid being set up as an armed robber. Two of the policemen were identified as Sergeant Idoko Edache and F. Temitope. PUNCH Metro learnt that Ezra, an employee of the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research, was travelling to the Akungba area of Ondo State to check his sick sister on April 25 when the incident happened. Ezra said he had slowed down at about 12am on Ondo Road in Akure for the cops and wound down the glass of his vehicle. He said, “They are Fast Strike Squad with a patrol van marked, 04. I slowed down, wound down the door glass of my jeep and greeted them. They looked inside my car and told me to go.” Ezra said as his journey continued, he was flagged down by another patrol team and the policemen ordered him to go back to the previous point for his vehicle to be properly checked. He said, “When I got there, they told me to park near a bush and proceeded to search the car. I folded both the front and back seats of the vehicle for them. They discovered I did not have anything incriminating. They checked my vehicle particulars and the chassis number and confirmed they are correct.” After the search, the victim said the team suddenly became hostile and ordered him to pay N10,000 or be arrested for armed robbery. He said he initially pleaded with the policemen, telling them that he was on his way to see his sick sister. He added that after four hours of pleading, he saw that the policemen were serious about framing him up for armed robbery. He added that he was forced to pay the N10,000. “They threatened to frame me up for robbery if I failed to cooperate. At a point, one of them said if they really wanted to deal with me for proving stubborn, they would radio their station that an armed robber had been arrested. “I was shocked. I then pretended as if I wanted to urinate and went to a corner to switch on the recorder of my handset. I begged with N1,000; increased it to N3,000; and then N5,000; yet, they refused. They said they would not collect even N9,999” In the recorded conversation made available to our correspondent, a policeman, who spoke in pidgin, was heard saying, “Your money is N10,000 I don tell you (referring to Ezra). Even N9,999 is not acceptable. When we stopped you why you no stop? You don suffer us instead of you to pack jeje (gently). “Where one army (soldier) dey, una go pack, come down inside motor, carry leg go meet am and put money for inside drum.” Ezra said he paid the money to avoid being set up by the cops. He said he had confidence in the police until his experience on the fateful day and urged that the cops be disciplined for the act. He said, “They did not see me with anything incriminating. But I had to bribe them at that moment because I saw that they were very desperate. It means they have been doing it to innocent citizens. I want them to be brought to justice.” The police spokesperson, Ondo State Command, Wole Ogodo, said the cops had been quizzed and found culpable. He added that they had been locked up in custody as a preliminary discipline. He said, “He (Edache) wanted to deny, but I told him he can’t. Everybody knows me. I don’t compromise on discipline. “Presently, I have ordered that he and his team members be locked up. For further disciplinary action to be taken on them, it requires that the man comes forward to give evidence. I thank him for being able to identify two of the cops. “Meanwhile, on behalf of the command, I want to appeal to the man not to use the few bad eggs to judge the entire police force. There's serious fight happening at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja this night after Aero Contractors canceled a flight from Abuja to Lagos after a 3-hour delay. The flight was slated for 6pm this evening, but Aero contractors canceled it at 9:05pm. Immediately passengers heard the news, they mobbed airline staff, destroyed their printers and other properties. Aero staff, including luggage attendants ran for their dear lives. Passengers say they are now stranded at the airport...that the airline didn't put them in a hotel or even give them a refund. Photos from the scene below. And yes, that's blood:

Apologise to your girl . this isn't necessary though because she ought to stand with you and by you. And not team up with her mum. But as a woman you love, Try to win her back. But don't grovel. As for the mum, the only apology you owe her is for impregnating her daughter out of wedlock. 3. If you try your best and your girl and her mum still resist you, don't grovel or over beg. Take a break. 4. Be more focused now and start saving every 1 kobo. Open an account in your son's name and start building it up. No matter the amount. go for your youth service. I know you'll get a good job. Upgrade. work hard to make it. 5. If you're still being resisted, keep on doing your best to be involved in your boy's life. Employ the help of elderly members of both family. 6. One thing is certain. They can't keep you away from your son. He will look for you. Assuming his mum and grandma team up against you, when he comes of age, he will know the truth. Keep proofs of the rejection if you can so your son will believe you never abandoned him. 7. Involve God in this matter. |

Some said she regained her memory and realized her game was up and quietly shut-up. The police later took both of them away with the beggar holding the ring in his hand. |
A LIB reader tells a scary and interesting story of something he witnessed in Enugu and backed it up with photos. Things are really happening. We all need to be careful out there. Read story below... Two days back, being Wednesday, on my way back from school, I witnessed something extra-ordinary. If you are familiar with Enugu metropolis, this happened at MSP bus-stop, the one before IMT gate(Institute of Management and technology). As I was walking home approaching the bus-stop to enter a bus, one bus swerved in front of me and people started jumping down from the bus and each person that came down began crying. They were saying a pregnant woman who was in the bus was being charmed and made dumb by a one-eyed beggar who was also in the bus. As was narrated by one of the occupants who was weeping, she said the pregnant woman who had entered the bus before the the one-eyed beggar had answered a call on her phone and a few bus-stops later, the one eyed beggar who was obviously identified as a beggar because of his music instrument entered the bus. When the pregnant woman wanted to then get down at her destination, she couldn't speak again, she tried motioning to the driver but the one eyed-beggar who sat beside her told the conductor that they haven't gotten to their destination and that the pregnant woman was his wife and that she was dumb. This caused confusion in the bus as some occupants of the bus had earlier seen her answer a call and also knew she didn't enter the bus together with the beggar. The driver then stopped the bus and as the occupants got down and narrated what happened in the bus to the crowd that had obviously gathered cause of the alarm they raised, the beggar still insisted the pregnant woman was dumb and was his wife. As people were suggesting to take them to the police station, the man in yellow who you'll see in one of the attached pictures rushed the beggar and began punching him and flogging him with his belt telling him to confess and say the truth. Before i knew what was happeneing, more peole including angry drivers, conductors, students and passer-bys who were obviously pissed by the grid-lock the commotion has generated on the road because of the crowd joined to beat the beggar. After about 5mins of beating, one of the men beating the beggar brought car oil and poured on the beggar and threatened that if he didn't confess that he'l be set ablaze. That was when the man confessed that he touched the woman with his ring. They asked if he could un-do it and he said yes. He removed the ring from his finger and touched the pregnant woman's fore-head and she regained her speech. I was shocked and dumb-founded. I had never seen such or believed such things existed. After seeing the pregnant woman regain her speech, the crowd then began the real jungle justice on the beggar, they beat and kicked him the more and called him a "heartless ritualist who wanted to use a pregnant woman and her unborn child for blood money". Mean-while the pregnant woman who had regained her speech wasn't acting normal. She had lost total memory and the only name she could remember was that of her sister which someone among the crowd collected the pregnant's woman's phone and retrieved the sister's number from her contact list and called her sister to inform her. The police luckily arrived before the man could be set ablaze and everyone took to their heels. The few brave ones stayed behind to find out what the out-come would be and on interrogation by the police, the beggar confessed that the woman was his wife and accomplice and that he was supposed to touch her with the ring and make her dumb so she could join him in his beginning business. He said he touched her with it and she went dumb but that it also affected her memory and she couldn't realise where she was or what was happening which made her motion around like someone in distress inside the bus. Looks like there's absolutely no limit to what people share online. A man claimed he broke his eggplant during rough sex with his girlfriend and shared a photo of his broken eggplant on his instagram page for his followers to see. Of course Instagram took it down but not before someone else grabbed it and shared it somewhere else. It's graphic and not suitable for office viewing! I think the Nigerian Police Force needs to include anger management course/ psychiatric evaluation in its curriculum. Only recruits who pass the course should be considered for the job. Seriously. Or how do you describe handing over a gun to a man or woman with anger issues and who can't control his/her emotions? You're only assisting him/her commit murder, which most times, they get away with. |

#copied# The story I am about to relate is one that has sparked off many volatile emotions in me and I want for knowing what emotion to feed, tame or kill. It is for this reason I humbly seek the verdict of you the esteemed people's court. It was common knowledge that Efe had a temper. His was the type that could practically cook beans to paste. When he was sweet though, he was really really sweet, cracking you up with a free show of another Basketmouth Uncensored. But even in those moments, a poorly delivered word or action from a well-meaning fellow could spark off anger bouts that caused one to wonder where the Cheerful Efe went, if he ever existed. On every other count, Efe was near-perfect. Well, even the temperamental had as much right to love as the temperate. And so it was that Efe fell in love and found it returned more than it was given in Ese. Since, Efe's temper was well-known, you would be right in concluding that Ese knew well of it. In fact, she knew more than the lot of us, receiving its effects firsthand in their courtship - a red eye today, a swollen cheek tomorrow. When marriage talks ensued, Ese insisted that men have been known to pick and drop certain habits on getting married and Efe would not be an exception. Looking at it objectively, you could accept that that was a truism that was not always false. Ese was always headstrong and not easily swayed on her decisions and became even more so when struck with lover's obstinacy on matters of the heart. They got married. I and others quarreled and reasoned with Ese to get out of the marriage before they have children and claimed them her reason for staying on. Yet she refused, afraid of what people would say, how society would mock her for becoming a divorcee at so young an age, so early in marriage. Ese got pregnant again within the five more months of the marriage till it came to an abrupt end on that sad Tuesday. Efe was angry. It was something about who Ese had been with on the phone for so long giggling and whispering. While Ese was trying to ease him and explain it was just an old schoolmate, he hit her and she spat a tooth. Running, screaming and reminding him she was pregnant and another miscarriage would not be forgiven, he chased after her and hit her the more. Eyes closed in fright, Ese picked up the nearest thing her hand could reach and aimed at Efe. She kept screaming for some seconds before she realized he was no longer hitting her and everywhere was calm. It was then she opened her eyes and saw Efe lying motionless on the floor. Her aim had been exact on his head and the object was the iron that had barely cooled off after her ironing. Now, Efe is dead; Ese is in police custody. I hope this concise narration would suffice in explaining my emotional dilemma. I know Ese murdered her husband but to what extent is she guilty of the murder?
