Dk stop making noise. what's so special about putting 9 men behind the ball. that's a default/automatic instinct of smaller or inferior teams to get

result against the big boys. so what's the big deal about negative footie?.

bawomolo:
but why don't you like it.  it's a way for an inferior team to equal the playing field.

it's a superstory
Why should anyone like or support negativity. I don't buy that underdog bullshit theory. we have seen perceived small teams match their superior opponent

on the pitch before. the problem lies in a teams mentality. let me refer you to games like Croatia vs germany 98, Turkey vs brazil 02 1st round, Belgium vs

Brazil 02 (even though both teams lost to brazil in the end, help thanks to some controversial decisions), they proved that quality teams can infact be outplayed.

ummm what kind of games do you expect an underdog to play?

why don't you guys complain when italy wins like this?
If you have been following my post, you would have realised by now that I am one of, if not the biggest, critic of negative footie on NL. so I don't

know where you got the impression from that I advocate the Italian style of footie undecided
SportsRe: World Cup 2010 : Spain Vs Switzerland [0 - 1] On Wednesday 16th June 2010 by jalether(m): 4:45pm On Jun 16, 2010
That's what footie has turned into. to win a game, all that is required is negative footie i.e defend - counter-attack and

sit back to soak up the pressure. smh

'Hardest working' is relative . . . . if everyone failed an exam and got 0, th eperson that scored 1 is better but it doesn't mean it was good.
What's the drivel you have up there. it's either you didn't see the game, weren't paying attention, have unrealistic expectation as a result. . . difficult to please

or just not a yak fan.  it's astonishing that you are not directing the blame at the main culprits . . . . Etuhu, Obasi, Odems, Taiwo,

Odiah and Uche in that exact order. Yak was simply outstanding. EOD.

chamotex:
You are joking right?
Is that even an answer. I'm still waiting.

It was used as an example. So was YAK

Yak didn't do anything special against the Argies  . . . . don't get carried away here.
Nobody did. Maybe apart from the goalie

Is the way Yak played what you call passion? cheesy
Were you expecting yak to produce a messi vs arsenal type performance undecided. show me a better performace by yak in the naija strip.

truth is, this is yak's best match for the SE so far. he simply played to the best of his capability/ability. I'm glad as I aint the only one that share this sentiment.

Sagamite:
Couldn't agree more.

He was the hardest working. He burnt some serious calories.

Did I say that? undecided undecided undecided

It's just one of the ways . . . . . . If you watch Rugby, you'll see these monstrous huge men crying during national anthems because it means a lot to them.

Tell me why the Korean dude was crying? Was it because someone despoiled his mum?
His performance on the pitch after was even more passionate with the way he ran his socks off.

Yak doesn't even know the national anthem so how can it even mean anything to him.
So you agree that it's only one of the many ways yet you emphasise on Yak's lack of emotion during the national anthem. I will rather have Yak

play like he did against the agies than to show any emotions during a mere anthem. it's better to show that passion on the pitch by giving it your all.

Even from the national anthem alone, their star player was crying like someone slapped his mama.  grin grin grin cheesy
That's what I call passion.

Now, imagine Yak crying like that when they're singing "Arise O Compatriot" . . . Impossible!!!
Our players don't give a damn about anything. They will mess up in this WC and then go back to their various clubs.
To be honest, a lot people think we will beat Greece tomorrow but I'm not that convinced.

Just tell them their club sides wont pay them for 2 months and see how their performance will improve.
MOurinho+Wenger+Ferguson cant help NIGERIA . . . . not this crop of players anyway.
Is crying the only way of showing ones passion. players show passion in different ways. point to another player that cried during his

country national anthem. does that mean that all (about 99%) the players that never showed emotions during their respective countries

anthem lack passion undecided
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Argentina: [0 - 1] On June 12, 2010 @ World Cup by jalether(m): 12:21am On Jun 16, 2010
Yakubu may not have been passionate in the past but against the argies on sat, he played his heart out

for the first time in Nigeria Jersey, I saw, a determined and hungry yak, chasing and pressing the ball high up the pitch

the unpassionate card should be thrown at Mikel and Etuhu, particularly.

His exemplary record with Sweden is not far fetched.
He lost only 34 games in 131 games Sweden have played.
What is Amodu's stats in spite of the fact that Nigeria is easily the 3rd/4th best team in Africa by DEFAULT?
How on earth could this

Lagerbacks Achievement:

lost only 34 games in 131 games Sweden have played.

be better than this

Amodu's achievement:

6 Nigerian FA cup
1 Nigerian League championship
1 South African FA Cup
1 South African Charity Cup
1 South African Top Eight Cup (best 8 teams in league KO cup)
1 African Intercontinental cup
1 African Super Cup

What's frustrating about this for the supporters and Enyeama himself, was the fact that his buffoon teammates didn't show the same level of desire

and will power to win last night.what's the motivation to make world class saves if the team will still lose in the end.

Princek12:
I played competitive soccer, even though at the collegiate level in Yankee, but one certainty is that, a football player has no business on that field if he is unfit. Football is not child's play, especially at a world's stage, and that is one thing I like about Siasia: he never fields unfit players (I am sure because as an ex player, he knows the importance of fitness in football). I would even argue that fitness is about 70-80% of football.
I know where you are saying bro and I partly agree with you as I use to play in one of the local division's in the UK too. it takes full preparation to get

to the level of fitness required at this grand stage of footie or any competitve footie for that matter. however, not all of our players were unfit, the game

was, as far as I'm concerned, won in the midfield las night as a result of Etuhu's total lack of interest, drive and commitment. it's importnat to note that

this is the same guy that has played regularly for fulham this season. when a old, washed up veron dictates the pace and dominates the midfield  then you

know something is fundamentally wrong. Etuhu practically walked on the pitch throughout the game . . . . that is not a result of lack of fitness but "I can't be

bothered attitude" on the player's part.

Princek12:
Sagamite,

Your analysis are good on paper, and I can tell you have never played "competitive soccer" from your analysis. I think you may be overemphasizing the lack of commitment on the part of our players, but the fact is that, while commitment is essential in any sport, in soccer, fitness is the foundation on which all other qualities like commitment can be built.

If you have as part of your back four at least two defenders, Danny Shittu, who has never played a competitive match this season, and Joseph Yobo, who barely plays for Everton,  because of lack of competitive matches, they are most likely not match fit, and, even if they had the commitment, will not be able to effectively commit because they are unfit.
I can go and on and on as to the number of unfit players on that team.

Fitness is the first thing for any football player. Even if they were committed, Danny Shittu and Yobo should be in our defense.
excellent post . Case in point . . . . Germany vs Australia last night. The germans won and won convincingly. their players were extremely fit and young

these 2 factors played a key role in their outstanding performance and victory last night. nuff said
SportsRe: Why Are Some Nigerians Self-haters? by jalether(m): 1:18pm On Jun 14, 2010
It is widely known that argentina has a relatively inbalance squad/team. great attackers coupled with a rather weak defence. as Honerico pointed out

many teams in recent times (some on the same level as Nigeria or even below us) have exploited this weakness to score and even beat the argies.

The million dollar question then is, what stops Nigeria fom capitalising on their weakness?.
