PoliticsRe: To My Boko Haram And Northern Brothers, Let Us Learn From The Yoruba. by JamesDoe: 11:55pm On Dec 27, 2011
Ibos - Have never conquered any territory by force in their entire history. They use tricks and population growth. Not one of them can name a single people or territory they have every conquered or repelled.

Ibos are yet to win a single war, that's why they see online battles as real wars. Ha, only children who have not seen war will rush in to it blindly like Ojukwu did!

Even the Ibos taken as slaves were quickly assimilated, their cultures lost as they chose to follow the cultures and religions of the Yoruba. The Bight of Biafra was a well known source of slaves. These slaves when they reached foreign lands quickly fell in line and followed the religions and culture of the Yorubas - who they looked up to for leadership and direction.

dayokanu:
Have you read my post about the slave gene in Igbos? They are always so ready to bow down to their masters. Always ready to play second fiddle.

Yoruba had Oyo empire, South South had the strong Bini empire what do Igbos have? Nothing they were willing slaves every where
I saw your post. very correct.  Instead of them to keep quiet and learn from a better organised group of people they will be jumping up and running to meet those who commit genocide every season like harvest.

"An estimated 14.6% of slaves were taken from the Bight of Biafra (predominantly ibos) between 1650 and 1900, the third greatest percentage in the era of the transatlantic slave trade".

"It is estimated that a total of 1.4 million Ibo people were transported (via European ships) across the Atlantic in the era of Atlantic slave trade"

"The Igbo were dispersed to Barbados in large numbers. Olaudah Equiano was dropped off on Barbados after being kidnapped from his hometown near the Bight of Biafra. After arriving in Barbados he was promptly shipped to Virginia. At his time, 44 percent of the 90,000 Africans disembarking on the island (between 1751 and 1775) were from the bight. These Africans were therefore mainly of Igbo origin. The links between Barbados and the Bight of Biafra had began since the mid seventeenth century, with half of the African slaves arriving on the island originating from there."

Ibos couldn't repel slave raiders from the "minority" groups in the SS/SE.  Ibos are yet to win a single war against another group of people, but they are the most vocal when war is building up.  Only to flee like Ojukwu when war comes.

Nairaland battle is not a war oh!

Ojukwu - the fastest soldier Nigeria has ever known.  Quicker than speeding bullets, he flees when those he has been taunting come looking for him

Ojukwu - promoted himself to General but dropped right back  to Lt. Colonel by OBJ when Ojukwu wanted to "collect" his pension.

Ojukwu - abandoned his mission and was too cowardly to face the same fate he forced millions of innocent Ibos to suffer.

Ojukwu - backed IBB and Abacha despite these two despots being responsible for the deaths of innocent Ibos.

Ojukwu - always reliant on minorities in the old Eastern region, he couldn't even find a "brave" ibo man in the whole of Eastern Nigeria to surrender to OBJ on the battlefield.

Ojukwu - could not even hold the whole territory known as Biafra for six months, had to be keep retreating till he retreated to Abidjan

Ojukwu - Mission abandoned, and did not have the courage to tell millions of ibos the truth.

Ibos - Have never conquered any territory by force in their entire history.  They use tricks and population growth.  Not one of them can name a single people or territory they have every conquered or repelled.

Tell me about Ojukwu’s escape.

Ojukwu left on Thursday January 8. In the morning, we had a secret meeting at which he said he was going away to seek peace and military requirements. But I knew he was running away. In fact, I had been tipped off. We advised him to name a person to act while he was away. Then he selected me. In the evening, I went to see him. It was obvious to me that he knew he couldn’t hold out militarily any longer. His last words to me were: “Well, Philip, keep it up.” His departure took place at night and was very secret. There were more people wanting to go than the plane could take. Ojukwu himself prepared the list of those who should go. There was such a rush to get onto the plane that the pilot got annoyed and moved off suddenly. As a result, some people who went in merely to do certain things but were not billed to go had to go. Some people who were meant to go were left behind.

Look through BEAF's posts. He is always using the word "parasites" to describe people.

@C.ock muncher BEAF

There has been no new completed power plant. Just abandoned projects all over the place. You lie just like the devil.

Others have listed their facts but you cannot.

Nigeria's GDP is expected to be $400bn per your other post. Oil is only around $50bn of that, at most. So all these local government insults is typical of a senile mind.

Wipe the s.emen from your face before you post in the presence of adults.

And just like that, the DEVIL comes to claim his b.a.s.t.a.r.d ids.

BEAF/BARf, we know you have many Nairaland accounts. Stop dodging behind them.

That insult was to draw you out and it has. Proof that the cretins and mooroons that support GEJ are few. So many NL accounts belong to one person. The demon spawn known as BEAF.

PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerian States Mostly One-city States? by JamesDoe: 8:47pm On Dec 18, 2011
You grouped Lagos with Abuja. And then said "for obvious reasons". That's the bit I was curious about.

The World Bank is yet to define a city, but uses a "generally accepted" basis.

If you want a Nairaland definition it would be hard.  Some will argue that Maiduguri is a city, whilst others would say no!

Is Ikeja a city? But it's GDP is more than some states in Nigeria. What about Lokoja?
PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerian States Mostly One-city States? by JamesDoe: 8:37pm On Dec 18, 2011
Pray tell,

What is the obvious reason for leaving Lagos out? Or do you really believe that the Federal govt did all the development in Lagos? Or can you not see development still happening.

PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerian States Mostly One-city States? by JamesDoe: 6:45pm On Dec 18, 2011
What is considered a city is subjective. But it should suffice that well-regarded organisations consider then cities.

Cities (except govt fiat ones) are organic but states and their boundaries have been arbitrarily drawn. Lagos Island was already a prominent place when the British colonised it during the Dosumu-Kosoko wars.

Perhaps it is better to consider zones, but knowing NL, this thread will go toxic.

PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerian States Mostly One-city States? by JamesDoe: 1:29am On Dec 18, 2011
Ikeja and most of mainland used to be part of Western Region. It was in the late sixties (Gowon) that it was carved out to join Lagos Island (FCT). Abuja became the FCT in 1976 (seat of Govt moved completely in 1991).

The Western Region and Lagos has a history of "urbanisation" that predates colonialism eg Ibadan.

PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerian States Mostly One-city States? by JamesDoe: 1:09am On Dec 18, 2011
I think most of the cities in Nigeria today grew from 1) market towns; 2) govt fiat or 3) around a prominent ruler.

My theory:

Nigeria has been poor when it comes to Urban planning. Most Nigerian states work under a "trickle down" system with the administrators at each heirachy dependent on the centre. In colonial time, there was something called a colonial officer who made/authorised purchases for the towns etc. This  created a dependency on the "city" within the states.

The places you would see having a big town competing with the "city" in the same state usually was a "market town" that did not have a "missionary settlement or colonial structure" or had a major traditional ruler.
Christianity EtcRe: Slaps Giving! By Bishop David Oyedepo by JamesDoe: 12:46am On Dec 18, 2011
If his pilots say they are "witches", will he slap them to?

I believe the poor lady was using what people say,

Some people say they are a "soldier for Jesus" and that clip, in my opinion, suggests that's what she was doing.

The slap was not necessary.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Nigerian States Mostly One-city States? by JamesDoe: 12:43am On Dec 18, 2011
Intriguing question. What is your definition of a city,
Christianity EtcRe: Slaps Giving! By Bishop David Oyedepo by JamesDoe: 12:36am On Dec 18, 2011
The slap heard around Nigeria. How many souls did he win with that slap and how many BiG men and women who may equally be "witches" has he slapped.

"Do you know who I am?" says Mr Bishop. Well God watch over us all!

A NAIRALAND SUPERPAC MESSAGE:

Some say Okija_Juju has many handles. Some say Okija_Juju's ethnicity is questionable. However unverified rumours which we have not substantiated allege that ONLYTRUTH IS OKIJA_JUJU.

We cannot substantiate the claim that ONLYTRUTH IS OKIjA_JUJU, but those are the unsubstantiated rumours that some people are spreading around.

So, iS OKIJA_JUJU really Onlytruth, and was the OKIjA_Juju campaign for Eze really an attempt to corner votes for ONLYTRUTH and thereby deny other contestants.

We don't know, but SOME ARE SAYING THAT ONLyTRUTh is OKIJA_JUJU. Note: This claim cannot be substantiated due to the many multiple accounts of some posters.

I have found Gbawe to be the most articulate poster, backed with evidence and articles. He also accepts new information or goes to source new articles to support the discussion. I nominated someone else however I have voted for Gbawe as his views are mostly unbiased and unpolarising.

He is also a good counterweight to some accounts that post articles that appear "paid for" or put up by govt surrogates.

PDP a party of rogues.

Gowon, Shagari, IBB, OBJ are all PDP members, so anyone claiming that the cabal in PDP has not been in power for decades is lying through his teeth. The chap before GEJ was "s"elected because his brother wa OBJ's deputy in the 70s.
