It was initially in the Politics section and has just been moved to the Culture section. So, your point above is now correct. I wasn't seeking to offend just that if we all start posting in our mother tongue in the Politics section, it would be Babylon! |
Hall of Fame: Ukeoma Ikechukwu and NYSC Youth corpers who were sacrificed on the altar of democracy. Hall of shame: JEGA and the electoral officials for putting in place a system that costs young people their lives! |
The posts have been in the politics section and should be moved to Culture. See here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-812746.0.html |
Is Nairaland's English only rule in effect? I've just seen non-English posts and if this rule is void then I would like to post in Klingnon. Please clarify. Thank you. |
Violation of Nairaland "English only" rule. Admins and moderators take note. If we all start speaking in our mother tongues then let's call it a day. |
The North is stupidly rich with resources, it is amazing that incompetence has allowed the mining industry in Nigeria to be moribund. If you add agriculture as well as labour the North could really take off. |
You could also get children to vote as some major parties did. |
Flaw spotted already. Registered voters = 100 people INEC issues ballots to match register= 100 ballot papers Actual turn out = 50% thus 50 people show up to vote Extra ballot papers = 50 ballot papers because 50 people did not show up Vote split evenly btw party X and party Y. 25 vote X 25 vote Y Party X "bribes INEC officials or corpers" gets 15 extra ballots from the 50 extra (people that didn't how up). Party X then has 40 votes (25 humans and 15 ghosts) INEC or corrupt officials amend the reported turnout upwards to 65% turnout. Party X wins with 40 votes beating party Y's 25 votes. |
This article is ridiculous. Why cut it across religios lines. Why not say: ACN discriminates against people who are above 6ft 5inch. Rubbish. Are the people doing their job or not, ACN could do much better but the reason why Nigerian politicians fail is not due to their religios affiliations. |
Who betrayed Biafra, Una don come again. No region can be said to have betrayed another region ok. You didn't see the passages where Westerners needed protection in order to leave the East. Why would Easterners want to kill Westerners leaving. It wasnt us that killed your people? The man gave an honest account and all many posters can see is tribal bollocks! Zik that played wayo with both sides is revered as a King, despite the fact that he jumped from one side to the next like an Ashawo jumps beds. Mourn Ojukwu, but don't put your wahala on the West! |

Ogundipe was outgunned, outmanned and out of time. Muritala had the Barracks in Lagos and the airport. The three teams Ogundipe sent to put down the mutiny were repelled. Kaduna was in the hand of the North, Ibadan was where Ironsi was killed and was Danjuma's base so no support from there. Abeokuta was where the mutiny had started and Enugu was far away and the Regional governor there (Ojukwu) was rightly looking after his people. Where was Ogundipe to get military force to back his claim to leadership? |
How do we know that Seun is not 10% of the tribalistic accounts on this site? Multiple accounts generate business. ![]() |
POWER IS NEVER GIVEN, IT IS ALWAYS TAKEN! Nigerians want the militarised elite to "give" power. Ha! |
The guys downstream are already known. This information is not new. What about the guys upstream who have oil blocks etc. This story is one-sided and incomplete. If the chaps mentioned here have illegally profited, then jail them. But give us a more complete story. |
Point B, thanks for the reply. I suspect the Eze will become a magnet for "attacks", even if (s)he remains "neutral". NL "tribal wars" are like watching army ants fight - with each comment dissected for ethnic bias or sentiments. Good luck. |
What is Madueke's background, na wah. This guy must have some serious secrets or must be a good money launderer! |
The minute a statue goes up, it becomes a target. Boko Haram, Niger Delta Volunteer Force, who knows? The statue also fosters myth making and god-like worship. A library or even a college of war in his honour will do more to prevent future genocides. |
Good read. |
Instead of building statues of men that their descendants and acolytes will end up using to beat the common man, why not create an Ojukwu library or Civil War museum where people can learn about the civil war. The characters involved, the untold stories of bravery, humanity, camaraderie and compassion. A 300m statue will divide a lot more than it will unite. But I'm not Igbo so up to you, it's not like NL commentators can even effect this. |
Intriguing, I have a few questions: Shouldn't this be in the "Ethnic, Racial and Sectarian section"? So if there is an Eze, does that mean only the Eze can post when "tribal wars" break out? Also who will the Eze interface with? Will demands be made that the Eze is installed as a moderator? Will participants who "select" the Eze demand that the Eze be recognised by Nairaland admin? How long is the term of the Eze? Can (s)he elongate tenure? Does the Eze have to prove compliance with a fit and proper status? Can Nairaland demand another Eze if it doesn't like the one chosen? How do we know the Eze selection process is free and fair? Given the anonymity of Nairaland, who is to prove that the Eze is ethnically compliant? |
Can you be more specific about your "other parts of Nigeria" as that is a broad brush. Ojukwu did not start the war, war was brought to him by sociopaths hell bent on evil. But in the same way you say Eastern civilians were not consulted by Nzeowu and Co, you need to be more specific about your "other Nigerians". I don't think you can fault Ojukwu for doubting Gowon's fidelity in implementing Aburi, as the sociopaths behind Gowon had already breached trust before. These sociopaths were: Muritala Mohammed, Danjuma, Musa YarAdua, Dimka, Abacha and Babangida. |
Yeye Naija police will soon use this as an excuse when they kill people. "They were homosexuals we caught in the act, we shot them at the checkpoint before they could escape!" |
