Jakarta:Lol! Nobody said the US can’t stop Iran. The point is that “can” and “should” are two different things. Of course the US has the military power to challenge Iran. But stopping them completely means wider war, attacks on shipping, oil shocks, casualties, and dragging the whole region into chaos. To America, this is not yet a full-blown war, even though Nairaland resident terrorists think it is, and that's why they're hyping Iran to self-destruction. So, it is not magic wand. That’s why pressure tactics like blockades, sanctions, and economic squeezing are used first...to make Iran bend without turning the Gulf into a fireworks display. So yes, the US can stop Iran militarily. The smarter question is: at what cost, and is there a cheaper way to make them fold? |
Jakarta:So according to you, the US should politely leave the main pressure point open, then go knock gently on Iran’s ports and hope they cooperate? Interesting strategy. The Strait of Hormuz is exactly where Iran gets much of its leverage. If someone keeps using one gate to threaten everyone passing through it, you don’t ignore the gate and go paint their backyard fence. Yes, there are other options, and many have been used for years. But when stubbornness becomes policy, stronger pressure follows. And relax with the “poo in my mouth” speech. Disagreeing with one strategy doesn’t make every action foolish. Sometimes the move you dislike is the one that actually removes the problem. |
Terrorists are sad their hitman couldn't hit anything. Now it's time for a clapback. |

Trump said in a Truth Social post this afternoon addressing people who think he's "anxious" to end the war in Iran that he is "possibly the least pressured person ever to be in this position." "I have all the time in the World, but Iran doesn’t — The clock is ticking!" he wrote. Trump added, "Time is not on their side! A Deal will only be made when it’s appropriate and good for the United States of America, our Allies and, in fact, the rest of the World." |

Ex-US official says Tehran air defence activity may be drills Speaking to Al Jazeera after reports by Iran’s Nour News and Mehr News Agency that air defence batteries had been activated in parts of Tehran, former US General Mark Kimmitt said it “could very well be exercises being conducted by the Iranian military”. “As I understand, the Israeli media has denied any ongoing active engagements,” Kimmitt said. “I don’t think they would be acknowledging them if it was really happening. It could be the Americans doing a pre-emptive attack, expecting that the ceasefire, uh, will not hold.” “I think we just don’t have enough information at this point to draw conclusive results.” |
Ceasefire with Iran remains unchanged, says US defence official A United States defence official has told our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic that there is no change in the country’s ceasefire status with Iran. |

When the attack resumes, “it will be different and lethal”, Katz also threatened. |
Israel awaiting US green light to ‘return Iran to Stone Age’: Minister Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz says Israel is “prepared to resume the war against Iran”, adding that his country is awaiting a green light from the United States to return the country to “the Stone Age”. “The [Israeli military] is ready both defensively and offensively, and the targets have been marked,” Katz said in a video statement. “We are awaiting a green light from the United States – first and foremost to complete the elimination of the Khamenei dynasty … and additionally to return Iran to the Dark Age and the Stone Age by destroying key energy and electricity facilities and dismantling its national economic infrastructure,” he added. |

I would destroy it too if given the chance. The IDF simply helped true Christians with that single act because true Christians don't worship idols. And it's very wrong to remember Christ this way. |
dominique:Stop being a hypocrite! Anyone with a Jewish heritage, even from 100th generations, remains a Jew. That identity is what the mullahs have tried so many times to erase but thanks be to Almighty God they can not succeed. You and your likes only talk about how Israel defends itself against its enemies but won't talk about all the atrocious things the enemies have committed, even attempting to wipe out a whole nation off the surface of the earth. Moderate Muslims are a problem to the world. |
First loaded Iranian oil tankers leave Gulf since US blockade: Kpler Three Iranian oil tankers carrying a combined five million barrels of crude have become the first loaded vessels to leave the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz since the US blockade came into force, according to maritime tracking firm Kpler. Kpler told AFP news agency that the Deep Sea, Sonia I and Diona passed through the strategic waterway on Wednesday after loading at Iran’s Kharg Island earlier this month. The US imposed the blockade on Iranian ports on Monday in a bid to stop Tehran exporting oil. According to Kpler data, no Iranian tanker carrying crude had exited the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz since the Starla on April 10. Red highlight for terror sympathizers claiming that Iranian tankers had been passing through since the blockade and US couldn't do anything. Shame on them. |
Syria’s president says he could consider “long-term negotiations” with Israel on the occupied Golan Heights if Israel agrees to withdraw from recently occupied Syrian territory. Israel had seized most of this plateau from Syria during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War and then annexed the areas under its control – a move not recognised by the UN or most of the international community. In December 2024, Israel sent troops into a UN-patrolled buffer zone in the Golan Heights. Al-Sharaa said Syria wanted “either to establish new rules that would reactivate the disengagement agreement or conclude a new agreement”. “If we reach an agreement, we could enter into long-term negotiations to resolve the issue of the occupied Golan,” the Syrian president told a diplomatic forum in the Turkish city of Antalya. “Israel is violating the 1974 disengagement agreement, and today we are working to reach a security agreement that will guarantee its withdrawal from the territories it occupied after the fall of the [al-Assad] regime and its return to the 1974 lines.”

Israeli army to hold all positions in Lebanon it has ‘cleared and captured’ Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz says the goal of disarming Hezbollah “by military or diplomatic means” remains the central objective of the Israeli military, as reported by Israeli news outlet Haaretz. It quoted him as saying that this objective is backed by a “significant diplomatic lever” involving direct US engagement and pressure on the Lebanese government. He also said the Israeli military “holds and will continue to hold” all positions it has “cleared and captured”. |
Iran’s President Pezeshkian, speaking in a televised address, says: Israel had been “forced to declare a ceasefire” through what he described as strong diplomacy, and said it had “no right to attack Hezbollah and other fronts in Lebanon”. He thanked Pakistan for what he called its dedicated efforts to help guide diplomacy while preserving “the dignity and pride of Iran”. Iran has “never sought nuclear weapons” and does not seek unrest or terrorism in the region. Tehran is pursuing peace while defending its territorial integrity “with dignity” and within legal frameworks. Iran would remain firm on its principles and positions, and this “must be understood by the other side”. He also accused the US and Israel of pushing Iran and the wider region into chaos and war through assassinations of military commanders, politicians, scientists and students. |

Iran rejects temporary ceasefire, seeks end to war across region: Deputy FM Iran’s deputy foreign minister says Tehran rejects any temporary ceasefire and is seeking a comprehensive end to the war across the region. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Saeed Khatibzadeh said any ceasefire must include all conflict zones “from Lebanon to the Red Sea”, describing it as a “red line” for Iran. “We are not accepting any temporary ceasefire,” he said, adding that the cycle of conflict “should end here once and for all”. On the Strait of Hormuz, he said the waterway has historically remained open, noting that it lies within Iran’s territorial waters but has long been accessible. He accused the US and Israel of triggering instability in the region, saying their actions have negatively affected global trade and the wider economy. |

Lebanon ceasefire largely holding as people start to return home It’s been six hours since that ceasefire came into force. It is largely holding. Israeli strike on Qasmiyeh bridge kills one in south Lebanon We have been reporting on the destruction of the Qasmiyeh Bridge, which has now been effectively cut in half by the latest Israeli strike. Lebanon’s army said Israeli forces targeted and destroyed the Qasmiyeh coastal bridge in Tyre on April 16, in what it described as part of ongoing aggression against the country. In a statement carried by the official National News Agency, the army said the attack aimed to sever the southern Litani region from the north and isolate it. The strike killed one person, wounded two, and injured a soldier stationed at the site. |
