Politics › Re: ‘How Do We Survive?’ - Nigerians Lament Fresh Fuel Price Hike by Jangbajantis: 4:24pm On Oct 09, 2024 |
nairalanda1: Peter Obi was the best candidate, no be lie, but let's be honest, under Obi, we would have had the same result.
By May 2023, the results of decades of borrowing to pay for subsides since the late 1970's was in, and we had a lot of debt from maintaining subsides, which, among other things, was contributing to debt eating 99% of our government revenue.
At the end, and please let's put politics aside, APC, PDP, LP and company, Igbo and Yoruba aside......how are you going to pay for subsides with debt servicing eating 90% of our revenue? Is it by miracle, or by more loans while we wait for the results of good policies.?
Whoever took over, we were in dire straits. Either subsides were removed, or we got into taking more loans...to the point where debt would be eating something like 150% of our revenue. Then we go see shege...real shege.
The annoying thing about this APC government is that they are still doing the same old looting, and same old sharing money, but vote in Obi, and nothing could be done....and even if he raised prices to N400 , it would just be what Buhari was doing all this time ....which worsened the debt situation in the first place...among other causes.
I effing hate to sound like I am defending this government, and lord knows I don't like being called an APC supporter, when I have not voted for either big parties since I started voting., and when I have been suspicious of tinubu since 2005 (when Gani raised questions about his certificate back then)....but in 2023, may... this is what was happening.
debt service was eating 90% of our revenue Subsidy funding was going to run out by June ending...no matter what tinubu did...and the only way to get subsidy back was by either taking more loans, or removing it to get more extra money, and then using some of that to fund subsidy.
And even now the subsidy that tinubu brught back is causing us more issues...debt has risen again.
What magic would you perform to keep fuel below N200 Per liter, without taking loans and suchlike.?
AM sure you would call me agbado.......but we were in a shitty situation, and it was godawful. Make no mistake, vote Obi, vote Kwankwaso....it would have produced the same result re oil prices.
Yes, I am angry with APC, and they are useless.....but politcs aside, unless you have a pot filled with 130 trillion naira....no way we were going to keep fuel prices low.
The problem with Nigeria is that we keep making the same mistakes over and over again, whoever is in charge , because we don't want to do the right thing, and we don't want to end corruption. I understand your point that the previous administration's policies contributed to the current economic situation. However, I strongly disagree that the current administration's actions are justified. The drastic increase in fuel prices (from #187 - #400 - #600 - #858 and now #1,030) has caused immense hardship for many Nigerians, and it's unfair to suggest that there was no alternative. The fact that the government is still servicing debt and subsidizing fuel prices while the majority of Nigerians are struggling to make ends meet is unacceptable. It's not about magic solutions, but about prioritizing the needs of the people. The government needs to take responsibility for their actions and work towards finding sustainable solutions that benefit everyone, not just a select few. Let's not forget that the government's policies have real-life consequences for Nigerians. We need to hold them accountable and demand better. It's time for a change, and we can't keep making the same mistakes over and over again. So enough with the usual sermon you always post on here. You claim you don't support APC but you keep defending their anti people policies. |

What a married Christian couple chooses to do with each other in the privacy of their sexual relationship is their own personal business, and nobody else's. It's important to respect individuals' autonomy and privacy in matters of intimacy and sexual expression, as long as their actions align with their conscience and they're not harming each other in any way. |

I'm not entirely comfortable with Israel's recent ground invasion in Lebanon. Why not stick to the aerial attacks? I'm very concerned about the potential consequences. Hope they don't walk into a trap. There are valid reasons to question the Lebanese national army's loyalty. Israel dey advance, dem dey shift back. Hezbollah has been a powerful force in Lebanon, and their influence extends beyond military might. Don't be surprised if the national army work for them. |

TrumpBiden: Nigga is butthurt, His punny mind can never comprehend how a tiny nation could fight against 5 enemies all at once and winning massively.
These fools are comical. Imagine thinking Israel shouldn't be retaliating, Israel should let thousands of missiles fired by Hezbollah, Hamas a d Houthis to destroy them. That's the only way to appease these braindead idiots . It's funny how these ragheads once boasted that Israel was incapable of conducting a ground operation in Gaza, but after suffering significant losses, they shifted their narrative to 'Israel wouldn't dare confront Hezbollah. It would be the end of the road for them". Yet again, Hezbollah is getting decimated from their ranks, and now the focus has turned to Iran and the Houthis. Deluded people! I think they lose a brain cell each time they slam their heads to pray. |

See how these young boys were scrutinized and portrayed as if they had committed a serious offense. While I don't condone cybercrimes or any form of criminal activity, I believe the level of exposure they're facing is unjustified. The mistake of a Croatian pervert sharing his nudes randomly via social media shouldn't lead to such severe exposure. The same people would rather blur faces of hardened criminals. |

These guys are here trying to provoke you into saying things (out of emotions) which would be used against you. You see these guys are literally supporting Zionist terrorism. Just don't come to this page. Also remain like me: oppose all terrorism, terrorism is never ok. These commentators are terrorists.
When you meet people like this in real life, avoid exchanging with them and if they harass you, call the police. Don't let them traumatise you, don't let them make you become like them: a terrorist. You lost your fingers to type and eyes to see when the Muslim terrorist was busy posting pictures of slain Ukrainian fighters in an anti-terrorist thread, but suddenly you found eyes and fingers again after a picture of a guy with a nice hair cut was posted. Shame on you. |

Kobojunkieee: Answer the questions please. ► Why in the world would you even concern yourself with this former exchange rate as of 2023(or were you considering the exchange rate before Buhari took office about 9 years ago) when we are in 2024? Pre-Buhari era is far. I'm talking about the four last tenure of the outgoing govt. ► Was the crude oil, and every other input, used in producing the fuel bought at this former exchange rate you concern yourself with? I don't really understand your, but ask yourself why marketers have been lamenting over landing cost. ► Are Nigerians to pay their 7.5% tax when buying fuel by the former exchange rate as well? Sheesh! Ask APC govt. |

Marketers are running away because of Naira low value. If we go by former exchange rate, fuel price should be around N300 to N450 per litre now without subsidy. |
