When did it come to this? Women have always been the backbone of the families for being the better managers. Before getting into the sack, they size up their men to make sure he has prospects to discharge his part of the responsibility of taking care of the family. In a polygamous family, which is the typical marriage in most parts of the world. Whatever the case, women remain the better organizers in most societies.

Along the way, something changed. Before many relationships with different women called serial monogamy from foreign land gained ground, African traditional marriage expected that younger women would take care of men as they got older. It gave the older wife a break as she got older too as they were taken care of by their older children. No matter what, children have always been closer to their mother though most men may not accept the fact.

This whole idea of polygamy or polyandry depends on the ratio of men and women in the society. Most jealous people want a man or a woman for themselves but that is not reality, even in the society where polygamy or monogamy is legal. So jealousy, grudge and payback are consequences that cannot be ruled out against one another when one has the upper hand. Using past transgressions to get back at an opportune time is not an excuse.

There used to be a time when children that have grown into adulthood thanked their father for being a disciplinarian. It has now changed to abuse. But for the stern discipline of our fathers, many of us could have fallen by the wayside. Most of us remember when the children of the poor with high moral character used to work harder and succeed more in life while the children of the rich, without discipline turned into spoiled brats.

Some daughters, looking at the dire situation of their poor fathers in their old age, are coming out to warn men to save some of their savings for their old age instead of spending everything on families that would ignore them in time of need. The irony of the advice is that the same advice was given to women in those days. Just in case mothers lose their husbands to some unforeseen circumstances!

The spite against fathers and husbands, if not addressed as some daughters are doing, would break whatever remains of the African culture most of us still cherish. There was a time when mothers said they tolerated some slights from their husbands only because they wanted their children to grow up with a man at home. Well, the children are grown now and the mothers are free to fly off like birds, stay or pay their husbands back in kind.

Monogamy creates the problem of expecting children that have always been closer to the mother to also take care of the father instead of the younger wife; according to traditional marriage. Where children also have the responsibility of taking care of their own families, it becomes a daunting task without government social services. Many of the children cannot physically or financially provide the support both parents need, so they naturally concentrate more on their immediate family and mothers.

Other grown children that have the means to take care of both parents may resent the divided attention their father had given to their siblings, his job, other women or other interests while their mothers concentrated on family. This may be misunderstood or even misinterpreted as indifference on the part of their father but certainly not deliberate indifference some make it to be as justification for the neglect of their fathers or husbands today.

Most fathers are trying to be good providers working very hard to provide for their families. But we all know that whoever you are, your best is never enough for some, just as you cannot possibly please everyone. There are children and mothers out there who wished they could get the care provided by your father. It might be the case of a new graduate who held a grudge because his father gave him a beetle Volks after graduation while some friends got Mercedes-Benz cars!

There is hardly a reason to neglect your father in his old age after spending the time and money he could afford on you. Sibling jealousy, discipline and grudge are no excuse. We cannot blame the possessive nature of some mothers to keep their children to themselves, it is up to older children to understand and be even-handed. Most children understand what their parents went through as they get older and start their own families.

Fathers used to work in the mines and got days off once a month or so, which prevented their daily presence at home. We do not resent them for that. The fear we had for fathers whether they were home or not, helped our mothers contain wayward behaviors. The house without a father figure, even as a relative, produced rascals. This was the reason mothers always threaten children with their fathers. It is difficult for a parent to raise, even one child alone.

There is something wrong in the Western world when white women that would hardly dare call the Police for their white husbands encourage others to do so. The same is true with Asian men and women. Yet, there are worse abuses going on in Europe and Asia. However, Black women outside Africa are quick to call the Police on Black men for anything that could have been settled between them or by extended families in Africa.

Old Asian men in the Diaspora are reacting violently after their wives and children neglected them into isolation. No ethics group can take as much abuse as Africans. Despite the label of being violent, they remain the most peaceful group outside Africa. In the age and trend of global village, even African men that were comfortable in Africa, have lost some cultural leadership men all over the world still have in their continent.

Africans or Blackmen hardly get respect, benefit of doubt or credibility outside Africa. Social workers and Police can easily throw them out of their homes on the report of their partners. Indeed, African women brought by African men into Europe and America bragged before leaving home of what they could do when they landed in America: could easily take away his house bought before she got there, if he disrespected her.

Only if he is not smart though!

The person I spoke to is between 45-50 years old. The cohort are in the range of 35-50, I understand. They are all paying £12,000 school fees per annum.

3. That is a whopping sum of £7,200,000.00 to one UK university drawn from Nigeria.

Imagine the number of other Nigerians in other UK universities.

Using a modest parallel market exchange rate of about N800 to the pound, Nigerians removed N5,760,000,000 (N5.7b) from our economy.

4. The N5.7b was dashed to just one UK University. That is just school fees.

Use the same measure for the living expenses they had to provide and you get a whopping N11.4b removed from our economy and taken to just one UK University.

5. I am sure you can do the calculation for up to 20 UK universities.

These Nigerians are the ones who say Nigeria is a failed nation, there is poverty in the land, abi?

Yet 600 of them were able to move over N10b out of the country. Just imagine if the CBN is being forced to provide FX at CBN rate to these ones?

6. These same ones will be grumbling that they can't access FX at bank rate.

It is in this same Nigeria that I have been born, 'breaded', buttered, 'sugared' and 'tead' and made a good living.

IF LADIES IGNORE YOU OR YOUR MONEY SEEK ADVICE

We hear a great deal about ladies chasing moneybags but not enough about those that are neither interested in you nor your money. If it is a choice between men and money, there are ladies out there that would rather have dignified brokeass men in their families than arrogant rich men. They never let most of their friends know they are the major provider for their family. These ladies are willing to spend their money to bring poor men to their taste and standard.

Before you run out looking for one, there is a catch though. The day you messed up eh, they would strip you naked; exposed to the world. Even worse, some of these ladies think they are saviors and may take abuse. But not for long before friends and families set them straight. Until then, they will bear with you. Their friends and family that had suspected you have very little, think they are crazy Mother Teresa.

Above all characters in men, most ladies look for agility. A friend of ours complained bitterly that he could not get the woman he liked. What the heck, if they do not like him, they should at least, like his money. He was resigned to patronizing prostitutes until a wife was found for him from the village. A very caring and devoted man. When ladies saw how he cared for his family, they wished for his devotion after they had ignored him for years.

Another lady was introduced to a well educated wealthy man she had wished for. They finally agreed to meet and had just one dinner together. It was the end of the relationship. This is a guy you would think many ladies would like to keep, not her. Despite all pleas from friends and others, she blocked him off. He was not agile and had no swagger.

Humans can be unpredictive. It is displayed when we turn others off or they turn us off without realizing what went wrong all of a sudden. It could be something we said or did. The surprising part is trying to understand what went wrong between a smooth rapport and a sudden change. The best way to find out is to retrace our actions just before the change in mood or ask her or him politely. Some folks may just be too polite or embarrassed to say!

But seriously, why would others arrange a wife for someone they know could not score? It has to do with continuity of line, culture, inheritance "blood" or reign. Sometimes an accident or war prevents a brother from fulfilling his obligation to the extended families. In those cases. A man cannot lie that he does not want to consummate the marriage until after the wedding. The last lady you want for that role, is a self made lady comfortable in her skin.

It may lead to abrupt disappointment and embarrassment beyond the neighborhood! We have seen traditional rulers acquire new young wives. You can count these ladies out of those marriages. They are not after money or fame. There are stories floating around that the traditional rulers have helpers in the palace servicing their young wives. But some surprised us by their agility and skill of Buga dance.

It turns out some of the traditional rulers might be old but also defy the law of gravity in bed. Those thinking that it is only pertinent to some African cultures are wrong. We have to remind them of the affair of the gardener with the Madam in Lady Chatterley's Lover, as the affair produced a child for the impotent man, proud to be a father. The one in the Holy Book is too controversial and beyond the scope of this article.

There is more to a relationship between a lady and a man than money. We have two famous old rich politicians that are well known. Many women with certain tastes would not touch either of them. Out of the ugly two, one is not even agile. The other invested in a gym in his house and is very agile with Buga dance skill. You can guess which of them has the most beautiful wife in the circle of politicians. So, we cannot condemn all ladies just as ladies cannot disparage all men.

These quiet ladies are right there hiding in plain sight but hardly draw attention to themselves. Their self confidence sometimes drives suitors away. After all they are not looking for any man to make them what they can make themselves. A good example are guys that will not date ladies taller than them. Little do they realize some ladies do not want two or three tall basketball players in the family.

So, how do you find these ladies? They also ask how to find the humble men. Despite signals from ladies to approach, some shy guys are just worried about reading that signal the wrong way. You may have to try anyway and risk misreading the signal to approach a willing partner. These signs are not written on our foreheads, so most of us miss good opportunities to proceed. We missed the ones we really wanted and settled for the second best. Those waiting for the best partners are still waiting into their old age.

It is a mistake to pay too much attention to loud mouths from both ladies and guys. It kills average men's motivation to seek relationships, especially shy parties. Since we cannot read every mind, try and error remains the social norm. We all have our purpose for choosing a partner. One has to wonder somehow, what attracts good ladies to men that abuse them. Most want to be seen with tall, dark and handsome men (fine boys). Others like the image of rugged and tough characters. So they compete with other ladies for the same caliber of men.

The same is true of shy men trying to attract the most beautiful girl in class when he knows he does not stand a chance. There are guys that could not ask girls for a dance in those days for fear of rejecting them. It used to be polite to ask the boyfriend first if you could dance with his girlfriend. One notable girl told a guy to go and dance with her boyfriend he asked. We could not laugh but were almost rolling on the floor!

Nevertheless, we cannot rule out ambitious men and women who overreach thinking they can get any woman or men outside their "class". We have seen the ugliest men that have been able to capture the prettiest lady around. They explain to us that they prefer integrity. Others say it is not about the big gun in your pocket but what you have in the bank. On the other hand, ladies get frustrated if you do not warm up to, or ignore their signals. They may even block you if you finally make a move towards them. It gets complicated.

THE POOR & NAIVE FOLKS WILL ALWAYS BE THERE TO SERVE THEIR MASTERS

Take a good look at the three leading Presidential candidates in Nigeria, if you do not empathize with the fate of Africans at home and in the Diaspora, you are not human. Even one of the worst Presidents in democracy had supporters against Impeachment.

There would be no stupendous wealth without the naive and the poor. They swim and exist against their own self interest. If this is pointed out, they get offended or feel insulted by doubling down on what gets them deeper to the bottom of the food chain. Some people patronize and worship those that exploit their very existence. The serfs and laborers were conditioned to trickle down crumbs after being starved to yearn for any form of relief.

Even religious holy books preached obedience to your superior masters as serfs and slaves who worked to enhance the higher social life of their masters. We must also understand that there are people born to accept the social life of their communities or adhere to standards dictated by the new community after relocation in return for their basic needs of food, water and shelter.

If the wealthy run out of workers like the old serfs of Europe, they go outside their countries and continent to recruit slave labor or attract slaves into their countries. Nobody would hire anyone before demands exceed supply in papa or mama small business until forced to hire more help from those that are not family members. Without the working class, the wealthy cannot make huge profits.

The exploiters of the naive folks study and practice the art of financial success on them to gain followers. This is why the poor would rather vote for politicians they can look up to, eternally waiting for gains; despite empty and unreasonable promises that are obvious to the wise. It does not mean that they are uneducated or totally stupid; it only means their reasoning faculty serve emotional and short-term interest like stomach infrastructure.

There is a difference between educated and naive folks. We can be highly educated and still be naive. The wealthy use many incentives and propaganda to get cheap or slave labor. This is not limited to unskilled jobs. Highly educated and talented workers are also attracted from poor countries paying them relatively higher wages compared to home countries but forced into poor working conditions they will not tolerate at home.

Physicians from third world countries finally cried out about poor working conditions in the U.K. Most remain silent for years to appear happy to those left at home. The Indian doctors and Zimbabwe nurses in the United Kingdom are cases in point. Recently, Nigerian doctors also joined, to complain about working conditions that endangered the quality of services rendered to their patients but less about their own unfulfilled dream.

Many professionals are modern serfs. Especially in the underserved areas they were posted to. The same areas they refused to serve at home where they were warmly welcomed, showered with pleasantries and other "bush allowances''. The lure of making more money equally attracts the middle and the working poor just as the wretched poor. But the poor have no means of moving from one country to another; unless some desperate poor ones incur huge debt to do so.

You ever wonder how the middle and working class vote based on the promise of tax breaks, free trade zones and tax holidays? Another form of regressive tax breaks where the rich walk away with thousands and millions, like the naivete get pennies. Naive folks that Pay As You Earn do not realize that the tax breaks come from the common purse that should be paying for schools, hospitals and infrastructure that the rich do not care for in their localities since they can afford them anywhere in the world.

It is a fact that there are freeloaders that want to sit on their butts and collect welfare checks but they exist on all sides within the conservative and liberal communities. The conservative cry louder against the poor while they are the biggest corporate bums selling services and commodities to governments at outrageous prices. This is the same taxes coming from all classes as the very rich manage to dodge paying any tax.

During the peak of Covid-19, the biggest relief checks went to the rich employers to hire and retain their employees. Smaller relief checks went to the working class, if not diverted. On top of the relief checks, businesses got loans they never paid back since some loans were forgiven. But they railed against workers that stayed back at home to babysit, student loans, grants and scholarships because they could afford to pay for their own children.

The wealthy parents could send their children to school anywhere in the world by raiding their country's Central Bank foreign Reserve leaving the country poorer and unable to import essential commodities for the rest of the citizens. The rich claim it is in the interest of the poor. They cry for foreign money so that rich children do not drop out of foreign schools. But poor children in foreign schools go to school full time and work part-time to pay their fees.

It is the children of the rich that can afford luxurious apartments, cars and parties without working, at least part time. So when the rich complain about their inability to get more foreign allowance for their spoiled children abroad, they use poor children that do not benefit. The irony of it all is that while poor students pay their own fees and send some of their earnings home to their parents, the rich have enough local currencies to exchange for euros or dollars.

The bottom line is that those that made their wealth, do so from the middle and working class at the retail markets and packaging resources sold at the Stock Markets that belong to all. They decide how much to pay while shareholders reap maximum profit. Workers are paid just enough to keep them dependent so that they can come back for a little more to live on. If the working class have more money in their hands, they can choose when to work and who to work for.

There have always been demands for talents, middle and working classes in businesses. Shortage of workers drives wages up and less profit for employers. This was demonstrated during COVID-19 when employers decried relief money for workers abstaining from work while applying for the same relief money, grants and loan remission themselves. It shattered the notion created by the wealthy that they are the job creators.

SOME SOCIETIES ARE HAUNTED BY DREADED THUGS WE ENCOURAGED & NORMALIZED

Most Africans at home and Blacks in Diaspora wonder out aloud where the so-called Giant of Africa went wrong and how it can be corrected. The explanation remains the same in every African country. Our talents, skills and resources are out of control. Successful countries manage and account for these talents and resources but a country like Nigeria sabotaged themselves in favor of anything foreign. We must face reality and stop the drainage.

Who dares demand and enforce accountability as miners scrabble for our resources like the Fortune of war today? Upon all the laws and regulations, gas flaring, electricity and outright theft of natural resources from the North to South are still going on, 70 years after Independence. Even Oil subsidies for the poor have been cornered now to benefit the rich. It goes beyond ethnic and regional rivalry.

The resources from our desert in the North, not to mention its abundance in the South are intentionally unaccounted for in the age of computers where every barrel of oil, diamond, limestone, gold etc can easily be monitored. Known operators hired by (oga at the top) in high places operating with impunity are ignored. When "caught", they are granted pardon, amnesty and immunity from criminal activities. But we prosecute token crimes and misplace our anger by jungle justice on poor hungry people who steal food in the market.

Successive leaders just before Independence compromised accountability of our resources by contracting it to international corporate companies that pay taxes and report to their home countries. We were given Independence without colonial responsibility. The same disadvantageous relationship Kwame Nkrumah fought and warned Africans about. Local and foreign terrorists, bandits and drug peddlers are nurtured to divert our attention.

The saying that your freedom fighters are our terrorists and your terrorists are our freedom fighters has some validation. Those that came to Africa with goodwill in one hand and sword or guns on the other hand were the nightmare of African countries today because they trained embedded Africans to terrorize their own people in return for Economic Salvation in exile.

We failed to jealousy watch and keep our eyes on the Prize or on the talented people mother nature bestowed on our land. We cannot pretend that we do not have crazy people in our villages or abnormal individuals in a family. The difference is the pressure and norm within the community that curb their excesses. Our Id, the instinctive act is controlled by our personal Ego before the community SuperEgo steps in and returns individuals to their senses.

A society that lost control of its laws and morals, suffered the damages it failed to arrest. Most countries deserve the government they nurtured. Many dictators in authoritarian societies are either elected or rode to power on the back of tiger reactionaries that destroy them fighting for their choice of leadership. The fact that these uninsightful elements are a loud minority pushing the majority to their dungeons is remarkable. What we pray and wish for in our dreams may turn out differently from the way we imagine it: nightmare.

They encourage bad behavior under the justification that there are foreign soldiers of fortune that are needed to fight against their enemies. Invade and bastardize peaceful communities, culture, civilization and dominate. We know these soldiers of fortune are terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and insurrectionist that will come back to haunt us, turning our communities into the authoritarian regimes we detest and fear. If done at home, they also do worse outside.

Indeed, reasonable interpretation of extremists has been intentionally conflated with abnormal behaviors to shield bandits from accountability and scrutiny. We are now in a world where the extreme Religious Right double down and label those fighting for their basic Human Rights extremists on the far Left in order to exculpate their own crimes.

It is the height of naivete to expect those that have destroyed our past, to be the ones given another staff of political mantle to build our future. By the time we realize our worst fears, we would see their projections of inhumanity on others they claim are extremist leftists. How can people fighting and begging for their basic survival, human Rights, preaching live and let others live peacefully, be so demonized?

We all reap what we sowed since we fail to rescue the children of the poor used by those that are rotten and spoiled, in revenge. They have come back to haunt us. Unfortunately, the silent majority that never took part or contributed to the situation we find ourselves in Africa today, locally or globally are not spared of what many call tribulation. Many of today's victims should not be held responsible for the naivete of their fathers that sold them out. It is not fair.

We all have instinctive guilt but some of us ignore or capitalize on it with confrontation, rude and pugnacious behavior to garner immediate advantage for narrow self interest; ignoring later repercussions on the community at large. Terrorists, bandits and thieves come from our individual families. We were indifferent to many as they grew wings while a few of them were encouraged and glorified after previous dastardly acts that should have raised eyebrows.

Once some individuals can accumulate money by any means, they package it through self-interest groups to fund political parties and think-tanks of educated mercenaries for repackaging. Those sponsored by ill-gotten gains could be terrorists, bandits, thugs and hooligans willing to obey their wish. They gain access to high places including prestigious institutions like the Religious, Judicial and higher learning institutions. These are the people that help shape the policies of the society until everything collapses like a pack of cards.

This is how societies encourage, sponsor and breed dictators with thugs insidiously. They capitalize on shortcuts solutions for every problem facing their societies promising to fix what they couldn't in ages, from day one. Authoritarian leaders are hailed as heroes while the silent majority sleep on their complacency. Some of the silent majority are so sure, situations can never get as bad as the warnings on the wall; until the situations get worse.

Therefore, there is more blame to some than others when a village refuses to nurture the children. The African village that raises a child is fast disappearing into a global village that lures African youths from communities without input or say in the world "standards". We are left to copy and invoke "world standards" as if that is the perfect way without any African input.

Most of these conservative policies are from an old entrenched belief that the best way to rule the majority is to use token minorities against their self-interest to implement oppressive Agendas.

The war in Ukraine has exposed the hypocrisy of oil politics. Russia gained the support of developing countries because Russia became the lesser devil just like China, compared to the higher cost of European and American technical and financial support. They all provide odious loans. These loans and aid are always in exchange for cheap resources or land. Despite the number of skillful and talented Africans, they cannot wait and labor at home to develop them.

No matter how African countries try to tread the fine line, they get the short end of the stick. World Powers care very little about developing countries and are willing to go any distance to exploit their natural resources. There were active Non-Aligned countries that tried to be neutral between Communist and Capitalist countries for very good reasons. We do not want the United States, Russia and China to be on the same side against any developing country.

The Arab oil embargo in the seventies was the first time poor countries were able to determine the price of their commodity. The windfall benefited Arab countries turning desert into pockets of Paradise. The African oil producing countries also benefited up to a point until Military rulers and politicians turned into chronic kleptomaniacs. They divert pipelines and funds to their pockets. Actually, none of the African oil producing countries can account for the windfall made from oil.

While Saudi Arabia could monitor every drop of oil leaving the oil field, African countries can neither account for their oil nor how much they make from it. Russia and the United States have more oil reserves than most African countries. They keep their oil in case of unforeseen events as the USA concentrates on renewable energy production. They can alway revert to licensed oil fields if need be. Indeed, they are willing to import oil while they keep theirs in reserves.

Therefore, when African countries join Arab countries and Russia to cut the production of oil and raise prices in the Western World and Africa, who benefits? We must admit that Arab countries, despite their dictatorial policies against their people, have used the money made from oil to develop their countries. The case in point was Libya where they enjoyed good infrastructure and social benefits. They gave it up for “freedom” from the West and the country has yet to recover. Who else than President Barack Husein Obama to overthrow Muhammed Gadhafi?


Venezuela pumped oil to the USA, Cuba and other Caribbean countries cheaper, yet the United States conservatives were bent on pauperizing the country. There are speculations that the United States may have to relax its ban on International Oil corporations in the Country to make up for OPEC cuts. A poor neighbor becomes a liability sooner or later. Apart from the need for Venezuela oil after Russia and Saudi Arabia cut back, poor Venezuela migrants trying to evade poverty as a result of the U.S sanctions, are flooding into the United States border.

The most conservative Justice on the U.S Supreme is a Black man that has ruled either with the conservative majority of the Justices or wrote extreme conservative dissent opinions. His wife still maintains that the last U.S Election was stolen and encouraged the insurrectionists. The only time the Justice cried out racism was during his confirmation. He called accusation of sexual inuedoes during his hearing by liberals; as "high tech lynching". Suddenly, Black again!

The United States late Secretary of State was a former Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, an honorable soldier and a gentleman. In order to convince the world at the United Nation that an immediate invasion was necessary because Iraq possessed nuclear weapons, the best face to send was General Colin Powell. The reputation of a respectable statesman was tainted forever. It turned out, as many world experts suspected, that Iraq had no such weapon. It was a pretext!

Britain had to make a U turn after the Stock Markets, respectable financial experts and former Conservative cabinet members revolted against Tax Cut for the rich. Mind you, Conservatives think Tax Cut is the only way to grow the economy in order to send crumbs to the working class. It has been a long held economic policy prompting the late David Lewis, the leader of National Democratic Party of Canada in the 70s, to call them Corporate Bums.

Therefore, the Prime Minister of Britain Liz Truss was confident that she would gain the support of her fellow Conservatives and the Stock Markets with her Tax break for the rich. After all, her respected Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng is the Chancellor of Exchequer, the best Cabinet member to implement it. Kwarteng came from a middle class family that emigrated to the United Kingdom from Ghana. His parents sent him to all the best schools in the U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss killed two birds with one stone. She rocked the financial Markets and stained a reputable man.

Some of you may remember Italy's first black senator, a Nigerian immigrant. Mr. Toni Iwobi was elected in Brescia, Italy. He was a member of the country’s far-right, anti-immigrant League party and became the Italian Minister in charge of the party’s immigration department. Another Nigerian Kelechi "Kaycee" Madu was Minister of Justice before he serves as the provincial minister of labor and immigration for Alberta since February 25, 2022.

The point here is that no matter how great and conscientious a Black man or woman is, the conservatives are lurking around the corner to make him “great again”. This is why they can easily lure Africans. African politicians and African Chief Executive Officers in International Corporations expressed their duty to deliver dividends to their Shareholders outside their countries and ignore the interest of their people, if they want to retain positions and power!

The erosion of our value system in many world cultures has pushed accumulation of money above the value ladder. There are values that are sacrosanct to the culture and survival of people even before money replaced trade by batter. Some countries have more rigorous laws against moral turpitude than financial or white collar crimes. But if you want to predict the end of a country, watch how moral decadence is used to make money.

Old African cultures respect those who exude a solid reputation. Honor can be sought and pursued with money but it only lasts as long as the money is there. The chances are, if honor can be bought with money, new money will displace and buy honor that is for sale. The reason is money only has value at a point in time unlike generational wealth of honor that increases in value over time.

Ìwà Omolúàbí (Integrity): Someone with Integrity is a person of his words. If you have all the wealth in the world without integrity, you are empty. Integrity combined with Iwa (Character) is Omolúàbí. "We look for three things when we hire people: intelligence, initiative or energy, and integrity. Age is highly respected in African culture for their wisdom and history of events. Nevertheless, achievement is revered and a young man who knows how to wash his hands will eat with the elders. Akínkanjú or Akin (Valour), the General or Balógun is second-in-command to the leaders in Yoruba land. Balógun are people that can lead people to war. They lead us with great courage in the face of danger, especially in battle.
