The Convener of the Kogi Youths In Agriculture Comrade Abubakar Onu Farouk applauded the Kogi State Government for the appointment of Amb Oladele John Nihi as Special adviser to the State Government on Youths and student affairs describing the appointment as fixing a round peg in a round hole. PoliticsKogi 2023: Desist From Voting Divisive Candidates, Nihi Urges Kogi Students by jardprinz(op): 8:55am On Oct 07, 2023
Amb Oladele Nihi, Director Students Mobilization Directorate for the Kogi APC Campaign Council, has urged students to steer clear of candidates who seek to sow ethnic and religious discord amongst kogites, in pursuit of their political ambitions.
..........Says divisive candidates do not mean well for Kogi and its people.

Speaking at the Interactive Session in Idrinana auditorium Lokoja, yesterday Friday 6th, Nihi emphasized that electing candidates who are given to fanning the embers of disunity and sectional agenda as governor could severely impede Kogi's progress and the well-being of its people.

The Director expressed absolute confidence in the Ododo/Joel candidacy and their ability to build upon the incumbent governor's impressive track record, particularly in regards to student empowerment and the inclusion of young persons in governance.

Urging the students to throw their electoral weight behind the APC party candidates, he stated, "We’re at a crossroad where ethnic and religious sentiments should not be prioritized over the majority interests. As students, we must make a difference. Come November 11th, Vote APC, protect your vote, make it count", stressing that merely showing support on social media was not sufficient.

The Interactive Session organized by Kogi Comrades Community in lieu with the APC Directorate of Students mobilization also had in attendance distinguished government officials including Chief of Staff Pharm Abdulkareem Jamiu Asuku, who represented the governor and applauded the strategic collaborative efforts towards ensuring the party’s victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial election slated for November 11th.

Also in attendance were Commissioners for Water Resources; Special Adviser to the governor on Humanitarian Affairs; other government officials; Youth and Student Leaders; amongst others.

wirinet:
The more I read excerpts from madam world Bank the more disappointed I become. She thinks Nigerians are fools, but it is she that is making a fool of herself.
I wish I could copy and paste some of the ridiculous statements she made in this page.

First the Excess Crude Account is illegal and foreign to the constitution, there are no laws governing it's creation and operation. So anything done in that regard is illegal.

The money in the Excess Crude Account does not belong to the FG, but to all three tiers of government, so even if it was illegally created and managed by the FG, monies cannot be spent from the account without the accent of the three tiers. Okonjo-Iweala is talking like the money is the FGs, to spend or save as she likes.

The book says "He was strongly supported by Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo state, who was very vocal in his disapproval and suspicions of the Federal Government’s management of the Excess Crude account"
The main problem was the Governors did not trust Okonjo-Iweala and her principal with their money.

Finally, the governors were not after FG's money, they wanted their own money, is it by force to help them save their money for them. What happens to the share of the money controlled by Okonjo-Iweala? Why did she not save the share of the Excess Crude Account under her control?

PoliticsWho Actually Looted Nigeria For 16 Years ? by jardprinz(op): 11:28pm On Apr 05, 2018
WHO ACTUALLY LOOTED NIGERIA FOR 16 YEARS ?
Out of 24 APC governors today, 22 of them were members of the PDP that ruled for 16 years.
As if that is not enough 20 former PDP governors are now in APC and many of them with corruption cases, but PMB's corruption fight "no reach their side."
Do you also know that:
1. The first and current APC Senate President was in PDP?
2. The first APC Speaker of the House of Representatives was also in PDP.
3. Three out of five former Speakers of the House of Representatives under PDP are now in APC?
3. A former PDP senate president is also in APC?
4. Two former national Chairmen of PDP are also now in APC?
5. Thousands of current APC legislators at both state and national levels were in PDP?
6. Hundreds of current APC ministers and commissioners today were in PDP?
7. Thousands of other former PDP leaders and members including former ministers, legislators, commissioners, etc are now in APC?
Now who are the PDP members that APC keeps referring to that looted the nation's treasury for sixteen years?
Current APC Governors that Migrated from PDP:
1. Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State was a PDP Senator.
2. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State served as FCT minister under the PDP.
3. Governor Aminu Masari of Kastina State was a Former House of Representatives speaker under the PDP.
4. Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State was a PDP Former Commissioner.
5. Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto was a Former PDP Speaker of the House of Representatives.
6. Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State was a Commissioner and Governor under PDP.
7. Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State was in PDP.
8. Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau state was also in PDP.
9. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State was in PDP.
10. Governor Samuel Orthom of Benue State was a PDP Minister.
11. Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State was in PDP.
12. Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State was a Former PDP Senator.
13. Governor Bindow Jubrilla of Adamawa State was a Former PDP Senator.
14. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was in PDP.
Former PDP Governors now in APC:
1. Aliyu Wammako -Sokoto
2. Rabiu Kwankwaso- Kano
3. Sai'du Dakingari -Kebbi
4 , Bukola Saraki - Kwara
5. Murtal Nyako- Adamawa
6. Rotimi Amaechi -Rivers
7. Temiprye Sylva - Bayelsa
8 . Sullivan Chime- Enugu
9. Obong Victor Attah- Akwa-Ibom
10. Chris Ngige - Anambra
11. Joshua Dariye -Plateau
12. George Akume -Benue
13. Adamu Abdullahi - Nasarawa
14. Orji Uzor Kalu- Abia
15. Oserheimen Osunbor- Edo
16. Segun Oni -Ekiti
17. Alao Akala- Oyo
18. Danjuma Goje- Gombe
19. Olagunsoye Oyinlola -Osun
20. Garba Umar- Taraba
Anybody who says PDP members looted the nation's treasury and are therefore corrupt is distorting the facts and therefore a shameless / barefaced liar, innately corrupt, fraudulent, self-centred, deceptive, wicked, broad day robber, oppressive and has no decency and humanity in them.
Are these the kind of people that should rule a nation?

PoliticsThe BIAFRAN WAR STORIES My Parents Told Me by jardprinz(op): 8:25am On Sep 17, 2017
My father told me that the war proper broke up in 1967. Please I want us to take note of the word " PROPER " this word proper here to me means there was something on ground before the final outburst of the war in the year 1967 exactly 50 years now. There was agitations, protests, a cry of marginalisation, a national compulsory retirement of top Igbo men in the key positions in the military and government, a look alike of OPERATION PYTHON DANCE II armed Nigerian army deployed to watch and maintain order in the Eastern region. So all these and many more was what they saw before the war proper.

CHUKWUEMEKA ODUMEGWU OJUKWU was the then NNAMDI KANU. My father said he was a diehard follower of OJUKWU, OJUKWU was his lord, he doesn't like reading any newspaper that OJUKWU was not captioned in. My father was then in his mid 20s anyway, and had an Elementry Certificate hence he was able to read and write then.

He said it was first of all a state of emergency in all the Eastern regions but things tensed up more n more and war broke up and all the Eastern region was held captive no one was able to go out or come in into the states, people thought it was a child's play until one week passed, two, three, six, one year up until 3 good years before BIAFRAN soldiers SURRENDERED n seek peace and reconciliation.

My father said that within this 3 years that everything human being use for survival was banned from the Eastern region ranging from Nigerian currency, food, meat, clothes, power supply, petrol, toiletries, weapons. In fact, all the routes to the Igbo states was closed down. And our people were left to die in starvation and hunger and that was why Kwashorkor set in that those war bullets did not reach Kwashorkor killed them.

He said that Nigerian armies were armed to their tooth with the largest world's supports, that it was only very few countries and charity organisations that supported Biafrans. That many countries that Biafrans "thought" would support them didn't show up when the agitations escalated into war. Biafrans surrendered because of frustration n exhaustation. My father recounted that there blood of young igbo men everywhere like that of abattoir on the streets. All the structures/ investment in the Eastern region was burnt to ashes. Schools, markets, churches, houses were burnt to dust. Nigerian army slaughtered n ate Biafran people like suya. They killed igbo men who were their prime target until men went into extinction. our women were widowed, mothers n young women were raped and taken away as sex slaves in the barracks.

Mothers ran without remembering they had suckling children, even those who were passionate enough to carry their babies, elders strangled those babies when they begin to cry dur to the fear that their cries would implicate them from their hiding places. I don't know if we truly understand this trauma?

The world estimated that over 2 million igbo people died during the Biafran war but my father would always say each time he hears of this figure "O bu tee onye nann nwuru" translation...it's even only one person that died. My father will sit down at a go n count up to 300 men from his kindred (umunna) who followed the war. He has their names, the dates they left without returning back. His immediate younger brother (uncle) Mathias left one morning n never came back, his corpse nobody saw. May his soul rest in peace.all these facts will convince all of us that his estimate is far more than what was recorded. Many communities were totally wiped out with no trace of human being again after the war in Abia, Aba, Anambra, imo, Enugu he said had a small advantage because of its proximity to Kogi state, some of their Kogi neighbours n friends absorbed them into their communities n families.

Wives n under aged girl children were given to Nigerian soldiers to appease their anger if they came n no food to give them. Our people lived in the bushes n forests for 3 years, with no clothe on, they ate raw casava like goat, under trees became their palace. All these soldiers we are calling baboons n monkeys did all of these to our parents 50 years ago. 98% of Nigerian soldiers from Eastern region never returned home after the war till today.

Brothers and sisters from the East, with this little and undetailed stories my father told me we would be able to convince ourselves the Igbos would have been the most populated humans in this part of the world and that Biafra war did more harm than good to our people. Our men were assassinated with their dreams and aspiration untapped.

Now we the remnants of Biafran war are trying to forget the past and move on with the scars n pains the war caused our parent...some persons emerged from the street again to chant war songs, each time I log in on Facebook I see dead bodies, blood, bruised people, my people in Aba, Abia swimming in a dirty floods. I hereby, beg my brothers n sister on the streets of Aba, Abia, Imo, Anambra, Enugu to please leave the the roads, enter into your closets face the wall and cry to chukwu Okike Abiama on whatever marginalisation you think we are facing, we are all feeling the pains, the world has seen your tears and pains. It's enough! Let God n the blood of those who died in the past fight the remaining battles. It doesn't make sense if tomorrow your dream Biafra comes and you didn't live to see it.

Another thing I want to bring to our consciousness is that OJUKWU did not die, he was flown to exile, he died 4 years ago and was given a National burial but 2milllion Igbo men died in the war. So also if war erupts now Nnamdi Kanu will not die he would be flown back to London where he is a citizen, the only place he would be seeing you and I die is on Aljazera or BBC. You n I will have no place to hide, we don even have money to do papers, the Little things we had been able to put back in order after the war would be destroyed again, think about our houses, businesses, certificates, our factories in Aba, our stocks in onitsha main market, all will be burnt to ashes and your sisters, mothers anties n I would be taken into captive for sex.

Martin Luther Jr was in his room when he wrote "I have a dream" he had only his pen n paper. And he was able to liberate Black Americans from generational slavery. Let us shun war, seek dialogue, peace and love. Igbos are known to be wise... the firs war didn't favour us and I doubt if this one smelling will if it eventually breaks up. We can't afford to make the same mistakes again. Nigeria Army have all the weapons for war, Biafra don't have.

Let's think peace, let's think dialogue, let's think mediation. Biafra can come without war if we so wish.
I love all of us and I want us to survive.
Joy Chioma Ugwu.

PoliticsEkiti 2018:I Won A Primary Election In 2006,I Will Win Again– yinka Akerele by jardprinz(op): 6:47am On Sep 10, 2017
A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Otunba Oluyinka Akerele, is optimistic about his chances of winning the ticket of the party to contest the 2018 election in the state.
Akerele spoke while reacting to a newspaper interview by Engineer Segun Oni, a former governor of Ekiti, in which he claimed that he was not imposed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer in the 2007 governorship election in the state.
Oni, also running for the ticket of the APC for the 2018 election, had said in the interview that although Akerele took the first position in the PDP primary ahead of the 2007 election, he (Oni) eventually became the party’s candidate and later went ahead to win the governorship election.
Speaking through an official of his campaign organisation, Ajinde Campaign Organisation, Mr Wale Ojo, in a press statement in Ado – Ekiti, yesterday, Akerele, currently on a trip to the United States alongside two key members of his Campaign to sell his candidature to the Ekiti people in Diaspora, said he won the 2006 primary election and would win the forthcoming APC primary to become the next Ekiti governor.
He called Oni’s version of the 2006 PDP primary as preposterous and an attempt to re-write history.
“Those who we trust and call ‘our leaders’ should stop weaving tangled web when they lie to their followers. I won’t ignore a direct attack”, the governorship aspirant said.
Saying he holds the former governor in high esteem as an elder statesman, Akerele, however, said Oni may have been quoted out of context “as the brazen denial of such a historic event is beyond any individual to attempt to wish away in the name of political joggings”.
He pointed out that he has so much in his plate politically now that he would not want to be distracted by “joy-spoilers on the rampage again”.

Politics2019: Battle For Buhari’s Job Begins by jardprinz(op): 8:34am On Sep 09, 2017
By WILLY EYA
Nearly two years to the next general elections, a major political battle over who succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari after the expiration of his first tenure in 2019 has begun in earnest.
The development comes even as feelers from top presidency and the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) sources confirmed that Buhari would likely seek re-election as he has never told anybody that he would not seek a second term at the expiration of his first term in 2019.
Saturday Sun learnt that the battle for the president’s hot seat would be on three major political fronts. The first and predictably most ferocious would be fought by aspirants from the president’s party, the APC while another would be by aspirants from the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP). The third group in the battle line is mainly those seeking relevance and patronage over who to support in the ensuing power struggle.
Among leading aspirants battling to succeed Buhari in the APC include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Saturday Sun also learnt that others subtly eyeing the plum seat include the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Governors Aminu Tambuwal and Nasir el-Rufai of Sokoto and Kaduna states respectively.
In the main opposition party, apart from the Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose who has openly declared his 2019 presidential ambition, others are former Senate President, David Mark and former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke. But Saturday Sun learnt from a top APC leader that President Buhari would likely throw his hat in the ring again for another four years in 2019.
The source said that it remains his constitutional right to do so and that at no time did Buhari tell anybody that he would do only one term as claimed by the Women Affairs minister, Aisha Alhassan.
The source explained that in 2010 ahead of the 2011 presidential election, Buhari had made a commitment that if voted into power, he would do only one term but never said so in his campaign ahead of the 2015 general elections.

The battle within
Even though the next presidential election is still faraway, there is an increasing indication that the most fierce political war of succession would be fought among aspirants in the ruling party, the APC.
On Wednesday, the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan literally blew the whistle for the race when she openly expressed her support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar even while still serving under Buhari. Our source revealed that apart from Alhassan, Buhari’s political strategists would soon move against all those whose loyalty are in doubt ahead of the next presidential election.
Saturday Sun learnt that Alhassan who was sighted at the presidential villa where she restated her support for Atiku would likely be the first casualty of Buhari’s re-election ambition as she may be forced to resign after her audacious support for Atiku, her benefactor.
The Women Affairs minister’s offence was the open endorsement of the former vice president for the 2019 presidential election when she led a private visit to Mr. Abubakar.
Popularly called Mama Taraba, Mrs. Alhassan was the APC governorship candidate in Taraba in 2015, an election she narrowly lost to the current PDP governor in the state, Darius Dickson Ishaku.
Her support for Mr. Abubakar will not be surprising for political observers, as the former vice president is believed to be a major financier of the APC in the North-east including Taraba.
Although Mr. Abubakar has not publicly declared his intention to run in 2019, he is believed to be mobilising and getting ready for the election. He came third in the APC presidential primaries in the build up to the 2015 elections, losing to President Buhari and ex-Kano governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The former vice president has never hidden his presidential ambition having contested the 2007 presidential election on the platform of the defunct Action Congress (AC) after realizing that he could not get the PDP ticket because of his frosty relationship with former President Obasanjo. Also, the APC chieftain had contested the presidential ticket with former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, and in 2015, he lost the APC primaries to Buhari again.

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
Former governor of Kano State, Kwankwaso is one man whose ambition to lead the country has been in the public domain for some time now. He is currently a serving senator representing Kano Central at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly and was a presidential aspirant in the 2015 general election. Ahead of 2019, there are feelers that his Kwankwasiyya political structure has already started underground work to project him to the plum position.

Battle from outside
As the clock ticks toward 2019, Saturday Sun findings also show that many aspirants are already working behind the scene to succeed Buhari in 2019. A top member of the PDP hierarchy confirmed that the aspirants believe that no time would be better than 2019 to upstage the APC-led government.
He said the ruling party has lost the magic wand it used in winning the 2015 presidential election and would be an easy prey in the next general election.
Some of those eyeing the seat in the PDP family include former Senate President, David Mark, Governors of Ekiti and Gombe states, Ayo Fayose and Ibrahim Dankwambo respectively, as well as former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido. However, a source told Saturday Sun that the PDP would not like to make the mistake of the 2015 general elections by going to 2019 as a divided house.
He said that even though some aspirants of the PDP are already positioning for the presidential seat, the party hierarchy is being cautious to ensure that it presents an “unbeatable” candidate in 2019.
Positioning for patronage
For this group, the battle is among those seeking political relevance as they position for the right candidate to support ahead of the next general election. Saturday Sun learnt that even though they are not in the race, there is so much bickering among them for relevance.
Among the teeming population of people in this group, while some are in support of Buhari’s re-election, others are positioning for a possible successor to Buhari in 2019.
In the Niger-Delta region for instance, the jostling for 2019 has created a sharp divide between the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) led by Chief Edwin Clark and some other power brokers in the region anchored by the immediate past Pro-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, and former President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Prof. Kimse Okoko.
While Chief Clark’s group appears to have some level of soft spot for the Buhari administration, Okoko who is a prominent member of the Southern Leaders of Thought believes that 2019 general election may just be a pipe dream if Nigeria is not restructured before then.
The situation is not different in the South East as many of the gladiators are positioning themselves for a possible change in the political equation that may offer the zone the chance to produce the Vice Presidential slot.
The situation is tougher in the North where power brokers are literally torn apart as they battle to give allegiance to various aspirants getting set for the next general elections. While some are ready to swim and sink with Buhari, others are positioning to take a chance among other aspirants.
PoliticsNigeria And The Conspiracy Of Silence by jardprinz(op): 1:56pm On Aug 16, 2017
Only within last Week did kogi state university chapter of ASUU resume from their strike which started on Feb 5 2017, now a nationwide strike has been declared.
Over the duration of our strike it was becoming a thing of worry to us as National ASUU folded their arms and watched in anticipation the movie shoot that was going on in Kogi State University forgetting that it was the welfare of their members that was the bowl of contention here. The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS) which was supposed to be the source of KSU STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT's (SUG) strength turned our plight to a source of free fund as they left Our young SUG president Phillips Omepa to fight his own battles himself only with his counterparts in kogi here to fight the Almighty Kogi State Government and ASUU. A war that that seemed to have been lost from the very beginning.
It started looking to us like Omepa Phillips was incompetent but nooo, how long would he organise protests that would only lead to his students being shot teargas canons, beating, battering and even arrest by police officers that were supposedly paid to protect us. Even soldiers flogged us like their children were not part of us, maybe they forgot the children of the man that gave them the orders to treat us like that were schooling at Harvard university Cambridge, a prestigious school in the white mans land.
The national assembly had forsaken us and even the Kogi state house of Assembly just behaved like it was kano state university that was on strike and not theirs they even passed a vote of confidence in the state Governor suspending whoever dared show sympathy for us.
In the long run Kogi State activists like Usman Okai Austin who dared to speak up for us were arrested. Yet National Activists kept quite and all KSU students could do for him was rant on facebook. to us the battle was lost already our Phillips omepa could not just tell us directly but he too seemed to have given up leading to the emotional resignation of cosmos ogiri the SUG PRO 1 and even the suspension of omepa Phillips himself and appointment of Anthony Edogbo his vice as acting which took the intervention of the schools VC to revert. Even the efforts of The kogi state NANS JCC chairman yielded no profits.
We were left to our faith even the national dailies did not tell the world of our stay at home instead they stirred propaganda against our Overpowered SUG.
All hope was lost till about two months later when our Governor took the bold step of proscribing ASUU KSU and threatening to sack lecturers that refused to resume leading to their forceful resumption and his advertising of vacancy to replace those that won't resume.
Just a week later ASUU national is going on strike. And am sure NLC,ASUP and others will watch as if nothing is happening.
Remember the southsouth and southwest did not talk when boko haram started till they started blowing Abuja and threats of a Lagos blast came in.
Till the Hausa man starts seeing the problem of the Igbo man as his problem and the Yoruba man starts seeing the problem of the Igala man as his own. A better Nigeria will only be a figment of our imagination.
Our I don't care attitude is becoming to yield negative results and I think its time to go en masse and ask our leaders questions. I believe they should be accountable to us.
Tomorrow it might become a national problem, just like boko haram, corruption, Fulani herdsmen and ASUU strike.tomorrow it might be me or you.

TonyeBarcanista:
The case is DEAD ON ARRIVAL and a waste of time and resources.

Peter Obi was illegally impeached in 2006, yet the court didn't add even 1hr to his tenure after he was reinstated.

Rasheed Ladoja was illegally impeached in January 2006 and was reinstated in December same year, yet the SC refused to add 1hr to his term even after he approached the court.

But Alh Ibrahim Idrees (kogi state )was added more time in 2011

Admiral Nyako's 2014 impeachment has been declared illegal yet Supreme Court in December dismissed his appeal for reinstatement.

Fayose should prepare to handover. Power is transient. I guess he never thought that a day will come when he will no longer be governor...
But the supreme court added almost a year each to Alhaji Ibrahim Idris ( Kogi) and four other governors in 2011
