Hello Jasmine17.

Congratulations!!!

Please can you advise on how you handled your application. I am available to PM if preferred. My spouse basically abandoned me and the kids and relocated to the US. I want to apply for Express Entry for myself and two kids. Did you use the divorce route or judicial seperation? Please help. Thanks
Divorce route

Thanks so much.

Na God baba.

By 3rd month after application, I recommend that GCMS request should be compulsory for everyone to avoid stories that touch...
Bro. Which of the gcms request services did you use?

Gcmsbuddy or getgcms?

Estac:
We were also house hunting for a one bedroom shared or bachelor apartment for hubby during this time knowing that we needed to exit our airbnb by Friday noon. The options were either too far from downtown or above our budget. On Thursday, we strolled to a new immigrant center located 10mins walk away from our airbnb. We were attended to by a nice Cameroonian who gave us lots of information and hooked hubby up with a contact at Breding. When we mentioned our house hunting challenges, he just put a call to a cousin of his who owns houses and rent rooms to people and just like that, problem solved. Viewed the available room that day, paid the landlord (he doesn't live there but comes around) and moved in the next day Friday.
sistaj:
.
Alternatively, you can relocate to Edmonton and use Estac's contact to get a house asap. But don't stay in that shelter.

[b] Good morning all,

Please I am in a dilemma .

I am a guy who immigrated to Canada through Manitoba PNP route; My sister who's a PR in Manitoba actually sponsored me .
Bro. Guess you know the answer already but it is just hard for you to accept. From what i have read, this is a double edged sword.

You will have issues renewing your PR or applying for citizenship.

Your sister will also be flagged and might not be able to sponsor any body again.

My advice: Go and complete the PNP requirements before leaving Manitoba.

Gracias

It is not proper to tell a stranger on the internet how to run her home or what gender roles should be adopted, esoecially when she did not ask for it. She stated in her post that they were a family of 5, why didn't you ask who was minding the kids when she went house hunting? How do you know he's an African man? Everyone does what works for their family and we should all respect that!
After all your rant, i didn't see your golden advice that will give her a house or stop her from going to the shelter. What does that say about your personality?

.....And this is one of the reasons why some people will be so reluctant to share their landing/settlement experiences or stuff about themselves.

I don't think it is proper for you to tell them how to manage their home. By the way, she used "we" so many times in the post.
If others didn't share, i guess you would have made such progress as you did in so short a time. I'm not telling her how to run her home. We are all looking out for one another here and i advised based on her predicament.

I am only suggesting she takes a back seat. Maybe this particular task has been destined to be achieved by the hubby. Struggling it out will only wear her and the family out.

It is your prerogative to share or keep your story. I for one will not beg or ask you to share. Don't see it as a favour ok?

@sistaj

Maybe you should step aside and let someone else try-do you have friends or relatives that can try? I don't know how it works over there, so just asking. Sometimes when people hit road block like this, they need to take a step back and let someone else try(in that person's own way) and see if they can get good result.

You are thinking of staying at a shelter. You need to let someone else try this house hunt of a thing. You don't have to control everything

I wish you God's favour
God bless you

Settlement journey. Pardon my long post...... Always lots to share when I come around to it. I have been staying with my crew in Apple Hill,
Quite an effort you have put in there and i truly feel for you. But like they say, it will all end in praise.

I had to read your write-up twice to be sure i am not missing out anything and I am appalled that it is filled with "I did, I did, I did". Initially thought you landed alone, then i noticed your DH in the additional baby part and corroboration paragraph.

Its is suppose to be a team thing and being the African man, it is his duty to be doing all this house hunting wahala. Yours is to choose and decide if its ok for the family, then contribute money if need be.

Moving into a shelter so quick is not advisable even though it is a cheaper option but it is the beginning of accepting defeat in Canada, more so as a newcomer. It will have a psychological effect on you by the time you are done.

My humble advice is to take a backseat and let the man fulfill his God-given role of tilling the ground for his family. Trust me, you will see how fast your lot will change.

God's grace to you and your family.

Gracias.

Ps everyone: Do not like this post, even if you appreciate it. Thanks

Yeah there are many Nigerians with zero inferiority complex on this thread. They have just chosen to remain silent to avoid wahala here.

This thread has just recovered from a brawl not to long ago.
Thats the problem. We all want that utopia but nobody is willing to bell the cat. I'm also guilty of the same crime.

But if we dont speak out, how will most people ignorantly wallowing in the cesspool of inferiority complex ever know that they deserve better?

There are times i read comments and choose not to say anything or give my opinion just because i dont want one fellow picking on me. But if we all keep quiet to keep peace, is that not hypocrisy?

That said, I think people should think through this Canadian journey well. Most married people are in it for selfish reasons and its just a matter of time before the cookie crumbles.

Some of the men are only using their spouse to get acceptable CRS points, ITA, and in some cases, funding for the journey. While some of the ladies in addition to using the men for the same purposes, are in it to escape their marriages or relationships.

Nigeria has good culture and morals. If only we had same quality of leadership, nobody will apply for this PR.

It is well

I have been saying this for ages.
When people say if you don't like something about Canada you are free to leave, this is pure racism given that it only applies to visible minorities.
Some people expect minorities to integrate or adjust into the "Canadian culture" which to my opinion doesn't exist given that Canada is a melting pot of different cultures.
Another very sensible Nigerian with dignity and zero inferiority complex.

Bravo sir.

Like he said, indians here are fast turning into one of the most successful immigrant group and walahi them no send that when in rome talk. Inshort in some parts of the GTA, if you no be indian to see house rent go hard you small. Even for my work, remain small make i dey learn punjabi because those guys no just send, to them na colony dem come form here not the other way round. They are quietly dominating and still keeping their culture. Heck check the federal cabinet sef, they are there, even wearing their turban despite the fact that some were born and raised in Canada!
One of the very few sensible Nigerians on this thread. Very correct points.

No! Nay!! Nope!!! @bolded what sort of fallacy of hasty generalisation is that sir? How many females have you asked? Like, you can't even say some, you went ahead to say "majority". How sir? I guess somehow a woman that believes the system in Canada is a more sane clime for females to flourish is unhappy in her home and is going to Canada to escape marital woes. Smh

*By the way, the right thing is "each his or her own" I believe that was meant for ALL not just males.
No matter how you try to downplay or deny it, it is the plain truth. I take out time to read in between the lines here and also look for what was not written out.

I didn't just blab ok? If you read very well on this forum, you wont need to ask any questions in other to know more about people's personal history.

Very wonderful discourse and I really missed participating in it.

If only NL was like facebook where you can see who actually liked what post sad

Anyway, each to his own. But it seems to me that a majority of the female Canadian hopefuls are engaging in this journey as a result of marital woes and unhappiness in their marriages.

It is well smiley

Can I state Masters degree as my highest level of education when filling the EE form?
