Sam_Ikenna: But those are things I can get if I were to be on my own. The thing is this - at some point we have to decide what we want. Do we want to be dragging feet or do we want to run - if we want to run then whats the problem? Give people what they want let them go and create jobs and lift themselves out poverty. If I feel I can lift myself out of poverty faster and better alone dont you think its natural for me to feel like I need to get out of here?

FG can do all that I wrote above in a jiffy, the problem is lack political will. The more they keep slobbing on this lack of will the more people are born into poverty and at some point people will no longer care about the bombs and bullets after all are their conditions not worse than bombs and bullets?
I get you bro. Anyway, at the end of the day, MAY GOD'S WILL BE DONE!

Onlytruth: One of the reasons I don't like Jason123 at all is because he is the type of smooth Igbo haters we have from a particular part of Nigeria who are known for double speaks. They are known to be the first to always tell you that they are married to Igbo, have Igbo boyfriends or girlfriends and similar diversions.
Notice how he always says that he does not care where the president comes from provided he is a technocrat, BUT he would ALWAYS line up his choice thus: FASHOLA, AMECHI, then Chime and others.
Why not Chime first? huh lol
These Yoruba people won't kill me wallahi. cheesy cheesy
Dude, any order you want, I don't care! Okay, Chime, Amechi, Fashola, Rochas. Happy?

ndu_chucks: I suppose in your mind, there is no one in the North that is capable of leading the country in 2015. I'd like to think that that's not what you meant by your statement above.
cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy grin grin.

afam4eva: In as much as i want a technocrat for Nigeria, it will be of no use if the dividends of democracy is not extended to the east. All we want is equity whether through an Igbo president or not. But it just seems a non-Igbo president does not care about the welfare of the east.
Where is GEJ from? Who is the defunct prime-minister?? C'mon afam. . .

Sam_Ikenna: No extra requirement, dont need to prove any thing to any body, extra state or complete abolition of states - back to regional control, accurate census with ethnicity included in the data, second Niger bridge, upgrade our existing airport to international status, dredge river Niger and make sure its seaport is capable of handling huge ships - no more stories, resource control, state police and few others I dont remember right now. If I get the above keep your presidency I'm fine.
That pesin must be god o! cheesy.

No one, not even an Igbo man of Ikemba statue would grant your request.

Sam_Ikenna: No groups have won a war without ganging up to protect their booty, its never happened before. I dont begrudge them, its their win and by nature they should protect their interest. However, today is a new day and whatever alliance that existed died ages ago, in fact if their was anything left of it, it completely died on the June 12th of 1992. So we need to either respect, trust, and give all fair handshake or we call it quit.

The problem Nigeria has today is not gang up or gang down, what we have are radioactive minds that will neither decay nor annihilate no matter how we try to spin or collide it in Fermilab.
Okay, what do you call fair? A technocrat of Non-Igbo extract or an Igbo man as president? I want your honest reply . . .
PoliticsRe: Worst Case Scenario: Southeast Loses 2015: Ndi Igbo What Next? by jason123: 2:13am On Apr 08, 2012
Sam_Ikenna: If you paid attention you would see that I detest this clamour for presidency. Now, this is what I mean when I say "fixated minds." When you see my username boldly signalling that I'm Igbo what first comes to your mind? Do you adjust to slash and burn my post or do you read with open and objective mindset? How do you feel as soon as you hear me mention Igbo - do you get jumpy, irritated, uncomfortable, unhappy, or indifferent? Nwanne, you can find both wisdom and doodoo in Osama Bin Ladin's messages, the problem is - which one are you looking for. If you love Osama, his words would be gospel but If you dont then it doesnt matter what he said.
Lol, you are a funny man! Yes, you are Igbo . . . .and so? grin grin grin
My fiancee is Igbo! My brothers HAPPILY are married to an Edo (bini) and Hausa woman, respectively. Closest friend and "brother" is Igbo (from Awka, Anambra). Closest friend while in Nigeria is Igbo from Enugu.

So Ikenna, I am as mixed, Nigerian and free as you can get! I was simply stating my opinion, you might (I might as well, who knows?) be the one that is not objective . . . . A woman once complained to her husband that the neighbors laundry is dirty and never washed. The husband simply cleaned the window and told his wife to look at the laundry again, to her surprise it was sparklingly clean.

Bro, have a nice night rest.

Sam_Ikenna: You missed the point. I said they probably have sat down before to make sure Easterners are kept from power and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that after the civil war North and West strategically had to agree on something to protect their interest by keeping the east away from power.

Did you read where I wrote that 70 through 2000 is a long time and its not plausible that whatever alliance they formed still exist till today given the fight for Aso rock that every zone is engaged in.

Maybe you jumped to critize but didnt take time to read my post well, go back to my post you will find the answer to your disappointment. Now, to help you one more time, 42 yrs is a long time for Yoruba and Hausa to still be in cahoots. Today, its every man for himself, no zone is looking out for any zone, however what we still have today are minds that are still contaminated due to indoctrination and hate on both sides of the aisle. These minds are either hating or are afraid of the unknown. These minds are more dangerous than whatever maffia that existed.
Probably I didn't read your post well.

@Highlighted
I agree but is it not the same mind that is advocating for Igbo presidency? (Before I continue, yes, I have heard that there is a fear among Nigerians that an Igbo president is out to revenge or declare Biafra or simply build up his region or favour his people and region more than others. But can you blame them? These are a people that believe that history always finds a way to repeat itself.

Ndigbo does not need to prove herself to anyone. When people say this (as in the fears et al), it does not mean they hate Igbos, far from it.)

Well, to conclude cause I am tired. May God's will be done!

PROUD-IGBO:
^^^I think you misread or misunderstood Mr Ikenna. He was refering to that happening in the past, but now conceeds attitudes may be changing to the point that such a clandestine gang-up may not work in present day Nigeria.
But it has never happened in Nigeria though. undecided
The only time it happened was the Civil war and the SS and Middle-belt were WILLING participants. I'll borrow a quote from my edo bros, gareth, he said, " why do we keep saying Core-North and Yorubas when the SS and MB were part and parcel of it all".

Other than the Civil war, the coups were mainly Northern coups and most of which were headed by Middle belters. So what exactly am I saying? There was never a "gang-up" (except the CW and probably the 2011 election) and there will never be.

^^^What you're asking for is what all fair-minded people want, but i'm afraid that's a utopian aspiration the way Nigeria is presently configured, together with all the jobless, thieving, greedy, elite/politicians that it throws up.

I'm sure if things were fair, and we have a situation where the President works equally for all component units that make up the federation, and allows each to make the best use of its resources with no underhand tactics to hold anyone back or deny them their due, if such a situation exists, i'm sure Ndigbo will not mind from wherever the next President comes from, insofar as he's the competent technocrat we all want.
Certainly, I understand where you are coming from. My worry is that we might be risking another 8 years just because we want to appease Ndigbo, not that there is anything wrong with that but it will just generate a cycle of presidents who will not do their job.
At the end of the day, an Igbo president might not fix the Igbo problem (assuming the problems are infrastructural). He might simply be an understudy of a god-father or risk being labelled as a "tribal leader" if he shows favour.

I believe Nigeria's problem is too complicated to be sacrificed at the altar of appeasement. If we keep this up, every ethnic group will want to be appeased. But for how long bro?

Our focus should be on electing a technocrat and if he so happens to be an Igbo man, then all Glory be to God!

We need one of these men in Aso rock 2015; Fashola, Amechi, Chime and Rochas; if not, this will be another wasted generation. . . that is, if there will still be a Nigeria.

On a real, we need a technocrat not another president to appease a region or ethnic group. Are we going to keep appeasing people? Certainly not! Btw, I thought zoning was dead, so what is all this? Please guys, we need sensible people in power. I, for one, am tired of the constant failure of power supply, the insecurity, the injustice in the ND, the CRIMINALITY of the so-called militants (both BH and MEND), the rewarding of criminality (I heard BH wants amnesty, for where?! angry), our bad health section, our continuously decreasing standard of education, among others.

If you guys are not tired, I am!!! angry angry angry sad
PoliticsRe: Worst Case Scenario: Southeast Loses 2015: Ndi Igbo What Next? by jason123:
Sam_Ikenna: Yea I see it. Dede1 is wise and intelligent enough to defend himself. I believe I belong to the same ethnic group as Dede1 so in a way I understand where hes coming from. Dede1 and I dont have to agree all the time but I would be pretending if I say I didnt get his drift, I do but here is what I think - Nigeria is too big and complex to be controlled by one group or maffia. Maybe it was easy to steamroll Nigerians immediately after the civil war because there was one identified enemy (East). So, if we're to look at things from 1970 - 80s prism we would say yes there was a group that wanted to sit on Easters by any means possible (remember the east was the only region that didnt have a military representative in FG's supreme military council, I might be wrong but I doubt it), but 1970 through 2000s is a lot of time to still have that cabal intact. The carry-over or, if I may, product of those yrs of institutionalized ejection of Easterners from corridors of power is, today, a fixated mindset. Fixated minds are the products we all are trying to soften.

So, in the nutshell, do I believe Yoruba, Hausa-Fulani, and Kanuri are in one place planning to kill and maim me - No, I dont think they're that united like they were in 1970s to pull that kind of stuff, they're probably fighting to snatch the keys from eachother. But do I believe they've sat down before to plan on how to keep Igbos and other Easterners away from power? you bet they have.

Anyway, a lot has happened since the end of civil war and you have to know that many minds have been glued due to hate and indoctrination on both sides and its only God or mr death that can effect a change. But there is hope for all of us if we can sit down and hammer out a new way out of our current ditch, failure to do that'll be Nigeria 2.0 for the next 50 yrs - you dont trust me, I hate you, my oil, my turn, and other bla bla bla.

In as much as I understand that you are entitled to your opinion, I must say, I was quiet disappointed when I read the highlighted part of your post. If that was the case, GEJ would have NEVER won the election. That's something for you to think about. . . .
