Kobojunkie: I hate generalizations that don't work. If you came out and said something like "Nigerians are generally cowards", you would not get a fight from me there because our actions over the decades can more than attest for that being closer to being the case than not.
However, when you say things like IBOS think like Massob, then you have a problem because there is no real information to back up that claim. It is as silly as saying Obasanjo speaks for all Yorubas or that IBB holds the general views held by all hausas. These do not work so I don't see why you would even believe the first works for Ibos.
chyz: First noone is worried about "agberos" or "lagos".they aint go do no tin. The story would be honestly told and not one sided. That is why there is turmoil now because the story is not unitedly told but biasly told in one's community. The "trying" to invade lagos will be compared to the trying to invade/invading bayelsa and Delta state(Anioma) first by their commandos. As long as both sides are told fairly then it is welcoming and commendable;however, the politicians who are alive today that participated in the war would further unite the country if they came out and discussed the war together then came out to the public and showed unity amongst themselves.
you are right. just hope the story would be told truthfully when they try to tell it.
chyz: the wound is neither healing or has healed. In the US, the north ans south fought a civil war and the war is still remembered, discussed in schools, and deaths honored publicly and nationwide till this day so im not getting your point.
bros, longtime!
@ your post
thats because americans are more "educated" than us. letting the so called agberos in lagos know that igbos "tried" invading and you think they would not start their thuggery is impossible. i think the best time for nigeria NOW, is to hush up until the literacy percentage in the country improves.
how did i agree that biafrans should be remembered in nigeria soil,,,,,,,how
the reason i insulted her is because she is not in nigeria and can not talk for the decent igbo in other part of the country
why should a healing wound be reopened i ask
why should young children be exposed to the horror of 1967
why should northern children be told that igbo leaders killed there spiritual leader and yet they are still alive and living among them
don't u think that there would be mass riot in the north again
why should anyone agree or allow her to talk childishly with her knowing the after effect of her actions
you have common sense. unfortunately, the so called educated southerns do not see these things!!! all they care about in "now". well, just to add to your post,
do they not think think that the western and the mid-western students and even some igbo people living there would feel insecure? it would be viewed as, "igbos tried taking our land and they are doing it again thats why they are here" (i know its silly but that how people think).
As long as you keep working hard, you shall surely get there.
And, try to proof-read and edit as often as you like.
Ma'Salaam
that is what a yoruba man would tell you! also, igbos are not bad, for example, try to read chyz, mikeasny, agbaworo, chinenye etc post and you see that they have good people among them too. but have in your mind that every ethnic group has some bad eggs.
alj harem: u name can mean anything but your behaviour tells a lot on your culture or background
i ask what is your full name because i know yorubas have full name not just akin
also ebga what, u can just say your surname is ebga
ebga is a clan not a surname or name it has to be ebge something to make meaning of the name
alhaji, you have said it all!!! but the yorubas and the igbos LOVE each other. they just pretend when they see other groups in nigeriathey are just too competitive, thats all you see on nl. infact, i am going to start look for an igbo girl. they are just too beautiful!!!
Akin-Egba: This time you have failed in your self-acclaimed knowledge. I am a bonafide Yoruba- Egba proper. Abi you no dey see my name?
Akin-Egba: Me I dey find Igbo and hausa teachers. I have worked in Igboland briefly so I know a bit of the language but not enough to be a teacher. Unless you want mediocre teaching
bros, the language hard oo! but i would get it one day sha! shebi, we bi one nigeria!!! i think i would stick to my friend teaching me. anyway, did i get the spelling of "kachiro"
Akin-Egba: 1. You are a hypocrite. One reads you here everyday commenting on other ethnic group's topics. 2. Your shouting yourself hoarse like a demented dog will not negate the fact that I am Yoruba 3. Like I have told Jason and the rest of the doubting thomases, you can make a noose and hang yourself to death if you feel am not Yoruba 4. I am Yoruba, true and true 5. Back to topic.
oh my days!!! . i like this guy!
abeg, i no wan die ooo! . as i said earlier, continue . . . . . . . . . when you are ready, i want you to teach me igbo. the language is so diverse! the type i am learning now is the igbo dialect of akwa (anmbra* state). so let me know when you are ready! thanks
Akin-Egba: Do you want me to design some ofada stew for you?
WRONG!!!
1) its likely that you googled it because when i googled it, the name was on the first result staring at me! secondly, it should not have taken you time.
2) THERE IS NOTHING LIKE "OFADA STEW"!!! i guess the internet did not help you this time!
bros, its taking you too long na! if you are from abeokuta, you should have said it a long time ago. its like the internet is not yielding much results
Akin-Egba: Of course I know it; the name of the rice starts with O. But it is an assignment that must be rewarded before full disclosure. I have been doing charity work all my life. Now I am working for money.
my brother, if you are from abeokuta you should know this! . it should not take you this long!!! nna kachiro!!! i am still learning my igbo language from a friend at uni
Akin-Egba: Stop going round & round in circles. You have walked this path several times in the past and it has not yielded any dividend for you. For the last time, I am a proper Owu man from Abeokuta.
M/while I forgot to add the Bakare/SNG group which have already collected their own share of the cake from GEJ.
okay, my mothers friend is from abeokuta. what is the name of the favourite stew in abeokuta? what type of rice do they normally eat? guy answer this and i would believe you are not from IGBO origin but you are of yoruba origin!!!
Akin-Egba: Corrected. That was a severe omission on my part, for which Gani Adams will not be happy. But how can the cake go round all these groups without OPC fighting and killing the rest groups? I have to form my own Egba parapo group too, after all Obj is my leader and we are in charge in odualand.
pdp or GJ is not the way!!!! i said this about 1 month ago instead i was insulted . i pity nigeria at times. how can a product of a corrupt cabal and party be your messiah? i wonder where thoes daft people are today (they know themselves )? how can a product of the so-called zoning be against it when he has gained from it and you all trust him? i am not saying ACN is the way but my fellow nigerians please let your votes count irrespective of external pressure. i really love my home country but when i see a generation of people think this way, it saddens me.
my brothers and sisters, this is our chance to entrust the country in someone that would stop this pdp and the atrocities they have done to my people (nigerians). personally, i think ACN is the way because the governors are showing signs of optimism, hope, courage and progressive thinking.
my people, its a make or break year for us. let us get PDP out of power! we can do it! all it takes is a little determination and courage. we can make nigeria change from this
the whole continent of africa is already proud of what ACN is doing in Lagos and edo. please, allow it to be extended to other parts of nigeria.
a man from your ethnic group does not guarantee development. if it did, then WE all know the north would be the most developed part in nigeria (if not the continent!) but you can all see what fate holds for us and them.
i am sure the northern youths want development as we do. lets us join together and kick pdp out!
(p.s: the most annoying thing is that they (pdp) rigged elections in the some states, if not the list of the progressive states (lagos and edo) above would have been longer!).
thank you and God bless you as you vote next year!
Kobojunkie: Seriously, is this how you talk to your mother or your wife? So what if you do not agree with her view, why does that make her more of a mumu than you are as a person?
Gosh!!! Nairaland has really gone to the dogs!
my sister, everything on NL is about insults oo! its so sad!!!
eldee: The easiest way to stop the fairy tales is to tell the true story, not from the anti-Biafra perspective but from the Nigerian perspective. War is the single most important event in many countries of the world, just because we're scared of it doesn't mean we shouldn't tell the story.
Not teaching it in school is robbing the future kids of their right to know our history, isn't that worse than the minor teasing they get??
okay, i get what you mean. but how is possible to tell the kids about the history of the war without it perceived as anti-biafra? when you tell them and they go home to ask their parents who would tell them a different story, what do you then say? that their parents are lying or the teachers are lying? the issue is very sensitive and i do not think teaching kids would help but i may be wrong.
udezue: Hahaha it shows you the level of deep seated hatred btwn Nigerians. Jason has given no other reason other than secession war. May the Biafran tragedy befall your entire nationality but let's be honest not 1 of will even be alive coz u are not even up to a million. Idiiot
i do not have the time to insult. grow up and learn how to have a mature discussion! btw, what i said does not mean i hate igbos
eldee: 1. Because the people who died are still Nigerians. 2. Because it is still part of our history, it's part of what affect every Nigerian today, and will still decide the opinions of Nigerians on issues. 3. Because a careful examination of those mistakes we made can serve as a reminder of how shedding blood is never the answer.
i still think it would reopen old wound. i think the next generation would harbour hatred for nigeria and nigerians. for example, look at ordinary NL people like ezeuche, matazzagi and co already hate nigeria because of the fairy tale story passed on to them by their fathers, then imagine 10 million of them harbouring the same level of hatred . i believe it would also be devastating to the psyche of the young kids because we all know that kids in school might try to take the piss! i believe it would do more harm than good.imo
doublekay: TO my own thinking the government should create a date in honor of those that lost their lives and those that lost their loved ones cos the war wasnt a child's play. its true its unsuccessful but for Gods sake my brother peoples loved one lost their lives
for those that knows quite little about the war you can visit this link and understand why this war shouldnt just be allowed to go down time as just any other event http://www.myinfobell.com/exclusive_naija_war.html
we all know that the war was not a joke but do you not think "the remembrance" would open old wounds?
so what do you want? for nigeria to remember a secessionist war? how many countries in the world do you see remembering a an unsuccessful secession? i humbly ask!
