Syenite: I dnt know about others but the figures for the Oil and Gas is incorrect. There is a wide variation of oil workers: Indegenous servicing firms, Indegenous E & P, Indegenous products Marketing, multinational Servicing, Multinational E & P, multinational product marketing, Petrochemicals, LNG, Government agencies etc. These categories offer a wide range of pay packages which is also a factor of years of experience. Believe u me some earn as low 1Million per annum and some take as much as 20Million per annum. That is how wide it is.

I hope you know the figure being stated above is most definitely going to be an aggregated figure and the OP has stated clearly that the survey was based on entry - mid level staff

So what exactly are you asking the victim to do?
continue waiting for the perpetrator to have a change of heart when it has been clearly shown/proven that due to the timeline of events the victim has only ever exercised patience with the hope to find an amicable solution.

Did you even bother to read the email convos posted on this thread?
What if the money that the victim lost had a lasting multiplier effect on his business and family beyond

If I didn't want to see this through d victims eyes then I wouldn't have involved myself. We just need to learn on this NL forum dat name calling yields no results it rather displays our level of ignorance. This is why d western world would always be ahead of us. They don't run around like headless chickens but go to the crux of the matter and solve it.

funny how you mentioned the western world like they would have treated the case any other way. Here is a very similar case study of a lil kid in the UK labelled "UK's youngest scam artist" for running various scams from receiving payments for goods and failing to deliver them, to conning people to giving him services and off course he failing to pay for them.
He was only spared jail because of his age and would have been jailed early into his life of crime if he wasn't a minor at the time.

Oahray: Oh, I see. That would mean one of the most active sections is currently without a chat thread. Can derailers be justifiably cautioned or banned when there is no chat thread? The disadvantage far outweighs the urgency of whatever lesson it's meant to teach.
My opinion.

Under no circumstances should users derail threads on nl be it with or without a dedicated chat thread.
As usual, the punishment for derailing will take effect if and when users decide to ignore the rule.

My own encounter with her was on a strict tutorial basis. Sort of knew she was very creepy. I guess she was learning basic maths at the time so as to perfect her scamming skills.

People deal with shock differently. You honestly wouldn't have expected her to react in any other way or form. At the end of the day you are someone she holds with high regards and probably never expected you to have engaged in such exuberant be it past life/present.

Give her time and she will come around.

BTW, how would you have reacted if she was the one telling you about her past and she dropped the bombshell that she had aborted about 10 times in the past?
