The Governor of rivers state admits on the above interview with AIT that he has built 140 primary health centers in 140 villages and towns in rivers state, And has abandoned all the general hospitals in the state, and concentrated on building 140 primary healthcentres that some cannot even treat headaches.

If this is not madness i don't know what is. Amaechi has reduced health care in rivers state to outpatients only healthcare, If you have any serious health issue that cannot be treated on a Treat- and - go bases which is what primary health facitities do, if your condition requires you to be admitted in a hospital then you are on your own. as the general hospital/secondary health facilities that can handle such has been abandoned by Amaechi.

These are questions that needs to be asked? In 7.5 years as rivers governor amaechi has only succeded in building 1 seconday school, is these a good record?

Would N800 per term paid to indian school managers for 750 secondary school children in One school, not go a long way to fund all the 267 schools in rivers state, rather than the doing the window dressing that the one model school is to score cheap political points?

800 million per term for 750 kids, How much money is amaechi spending on the remaining 500,000 kids in the other 266 secondary schools in the state? N800 per term = N2.4bn per year paid to indians for 750 rivers state secondary school kids.

According to universal basic education commision ubec rivers state has 267 secondary schools and 905 primary schools. out of 905 primary schools in rivers state Amaechi has built 500 school out of which only 300 are complete and put to use, What happens to the remaining 606 primary schools in rivers state? does it mean that the other 606 primary schools in rivers state do not deserve model school?

Rivers state has 267 secondary schools according to amaechi he has built 7 new secondary schools out of which only one is completed and functional. What is the situation of the remaining 266 secondary schools in Rivers state?

This educational policy of Amaechi that amaechi has been busy flashing all over Nigeria as his achievement may just be a fluke. Thank god he is the one giving the statistics so no one will say i am lying about the governor.

A Nations Cup qualifier going to be played there..just like the last time we played Sudan in Abuja..(the fans came in for free to support the team..and that's the only match the N63bn Abuja stadium has hosted this year)..Even if fans pay to watch the Eagles play in Uyo..with the low income of many of the people in the state as attested to by the governor himself..how much are they going to pay to see the game?..and would that be enough to maintain the stadium for several months before it ever hosts another game?..Where is the football team in Akwa Ibom that can attract a 30,000 crowd weekly to keep the stadium busy and pay for itself?..The Eagles have been playing most of their matches in Calabar..did that earn the state enough money to at least re-grass the pitch of the stadium?..The answer is No..on the contrary the state was even paying a lot of money to host the team and the NFF..

Since you live in a bubble called ignorance you seem to think that government should only invest in economic ventures which by the way is not the only responsibility of govt. You probably do not know that infrastructure is a broad word with different types like Social infrastructure, cultural, sports and recreational infrastructure, economic infrastructure,governance infrastructure.
All of them are responsibilities of government and not all of them are economic but they are all important for the growth and wellbeing of the any society. How much income/profit do you think govt. hospitals, schools, govt administrative buildings, social housing etc makes? those things are not money making ventures but investment on the well being of the society. you need to read up on the roles of govt and look at the intangibles of govt infrastructure and not spend your energy on only tangibles least you miss the big picture.

Here is another food for thought. Does the drainage system in any city generate income to the state? what are the tangible and intangible benefit of a drainage system to any city? and why should govt. build drainage systems? think about that and maybe you will begin to understand the role of govt. and shun the ignorance in the role of govt. that is seeking to engulf you.

Abuja should not have a national stadium because it will cost the nation money to maintain it, Uyo should not have the Akwa Ibom Stadium complex because it will cost the state money to maintain it? in other words No state should have stadiums because its maintainance is costing them money, talk about a sever case of myopia! Government is not a bank to loan money to industries, the best a govt, can do is to go into PPP with private sectors with equity in the investment interms of land donation and tax breaks, putting the necessary infrastructures for industry to thrive is the primary duty of government and Akpabio is doing those.

We cannot keep building industries using govt. funds data shows they are not viable, we have to do first thing first build infrastructures and create laws/policies and safe environment that will encourage Industries to want to come to Akwa Ibom.

Nice update @ ujoinme, so thats the ikot ekpene stadium that the governor mentioned in the video above? its quite close to the Sheraton hotel, excellent planning. IKot ekpene is really looking good and positioned in the right path for development, with the plaza also close to the new hotel under construction.

My Query is whats happening to the Uyo Hilton, convention centre and the theme park ? this is the same pictures of the uyo hilton i saw last year? have they abandoned that hotel to focus on the sheraton?

I heard the gov. say in the video that both hotels will be completed at the same time, But the hilton started 5 years ago, and this sheraton hotel started 1 yr ago and it looks almost compete? whats going on can someone in the know fill me in?

The hospital project is a great vision and a very commendable project from what i saw in the video above and the pictures here it seems its nearing completion. though it has taken too long in my personal opinion. But better late than never.

UAE some years ago started investing much of their oil money on things that will b another sources of income, today that country is still rich in crude oil but it no longer depend on money from crude oil so d fall in price of oil can never affect their economy, as a matter of fact they are now saving earnings from crude oil while their economy is sustained by d economic hub they created with their oil money, thats d kind of economy we anticipate oil rich states like Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Delta and Bayelsa will build for their pple.

You see you cant answer that simple questions because specifics are difficult, but general statements are very easy to make.
The business will not come without adequate infrastructure in place basic ones like,security, roads, electricity, water, good schools, hospitals.
and major ones like Airports, seaports, rail, good hotels and good policies that makes business worthwhile.

Gov. Akpabio is doing his best in most of these areas to create these infrastructures that will enable business to thrive in his state. And if you look on all the above areas he is doing a marvelous job.
Government dont build industries, if they do it usually not sustainable. So Akpabio should keep putting the infrastructure in place and the private sector will respond.

Last weekend here in Los Angeles we gathered the Nigerian community at my house to watch the opening of Akwa Ibom Stadium , it was so refreshing to see what Gov. Akpabio Has done in Akwa Ibom. We were all for once proud to be Nigerians and were proud to watch the soccer game in a stadium that is truly world class. as a result most of us, many who are not from Akwa Ibom,have decided to Add Akwa Ibom as our destination for this year vaction visit to Nigeria.
I will be at the stadium for the christmas carol event on the 20th dec. and a host of others are planning to be in uyo Stadium for the march 29th brazil vs Nigeria.
And i just read on this web page that getty image has gazetted The Akwa Ibom Stadium i will be taking my family to getty museum this weekend since its close to me to see those images at least it will be refreshing and different from the embarrassing images of the civil war and dirty/hungry people and streets that are usually on display about Nigeria.

Akpabio Has class and for us in Diaspora we appreciate that. APC should learn how to deliver quality infrastructure from Akpabio like the stadium which will bring people into the state and serve up Nigeria and Africa in goodlight, rather than buy bed for N50 million and commision a useless incomplete hospital building with nothing inside and no access road as Fayemi did. And for you go and offer valet service, sell popcorn or be an event official for event days at that stadium, thats a more honest way to make a living than to play internet tout on nairaland, good night.
