I have this new neighbor that packed in last three months, that talk to people anyhow. But he feels it's a normal conversation.

Over the weekend I was cleaning my house and my car, only for him to tell me I clean my car too much. And was saying other nasty things and was laughing thinking is a normal thing.

There's no single day that i will wash my car that this guy will not say this to me, how I valued my car more than my life.

I honestly believe in this adage - The fewer, the better when it comes to children and other things too.

Society has put these two things (marriage and children) on such a high pedestal and glorified them to a point where, too many people believe without one or both them, life will be meaningless and they will be unhappy.

I have personally realized this is not true. Marriage and children are life choices, not the goals or achievements we all have to meet in order to unlock happiness in our lives.

Kids are achievements, not saying as they would be used as life support when them are old but when you take a look at the kids you’ve had you can only smile and say yes you did well, be it their upbringing, their own successes intact everything you can only realize this wen you hit 50 or the kids are in their adolescence why do you think parents fight tooth and nail for custody of their kids during divorce?


Most people tend to have a different perspective when they get older in regards to marriage, family and kids, ask anyone who is beyond 50 and see their response. They’d wish they had more and more reason grand parents who were soooooo strict become softies and urge for you to bring your kids over , whether the grannies are well to do or not, family is everything

I don't understand the concept bwhind having so many kids. What if the man dies, what happens to the kids? They will share them among different family members?

People should start changing their mindsets abour childbearing. Even in developed countries with better prospects, people don't give birth like rabbits. Not to talk of Nigeria where there is so much uncertainty about the future.

Having a few kids has its own cons too unless you aren’t a parent or haven’t tried being in one’s shoes. The over protection they’d get or would I say suffocating love they get. Both has its good and bad sides.

Do you know what's up with this family and what each child is up to now? While it is an interesting story and I feel sorry for them, I am wondering what were they doing with 7 children?

My parents had 7 of us too and I still wonder what were they thinking? The older generation didn't put a lot of thought into the things they did. They just operated with a one track mindset of, this is how things have been done so we will do it like that too.

However, when you take the time to think about stuff that really matters to you and not what a bunch of other people (i.e. society, church folks, family & friends) think is ideal or right for you. You tend to make life choices that are more beneficial to you as a person.

Quality over quantity should have been a mantra with most of our parents and even present day parents. If your neighbours had stopped at 2 or 3 kids, their suffer head for no reach as e be for them. Moreover when you plan to have kids, count yourself as one of those children and remember that even you (as a parent) will still need to feed, clothe yourself, healthcare and a bunch of other things.

For instance, rather than insisting on 4 kids,I must have 4 kids, consider a family of 4 instead where there is a husband, wife and 2 kids (wifey and hubby can be the other kids)That way you don't lose your sanity or well being in the name of children are blessing, so I will have as much as I can. Las las where was the blessing in 7 kids when the patriarch lost his health and livelihood?

They bounced back the first two who graduated got good jobs and one of them was trained overseas as with tradition of the company their dad worked with.

Every situation has a reason, a family of just two kids, one died and it really messed up the psyche of the parents to the extent they almost gave up living. Sometimes having less is a blessing n sometimes a curse , same goes with having many, the latter is something that happened up close, having just one child and living in fear of losing that one takes a toll on a parent in the long run.

I pray you don’t experience what can bring a family man or parents down even all the savings or properties will be sold to resolve such especially if the kids are about getting into the university or while in the university, my neighbor then while still in school has his father working in schlumberger, at year 3 , he was diagnosed with cancer and they sold virtually all they had and they were 7 in number , mother had to quit her job to cater for the man the kids, 3 had to drop out so the two who were in their finals could finish as the company had already paid him off, he got a bit better but getting another job was a problem same with the wife, the younger ones had to leave the expensive primary school n move to Fgc government school.

I had a printer go bad and I took it to hp as it was under warranty. They first had to take a day to confirm the serial number because apparently Nigerians refurbish and repackage printers and sell them in cartons as new.

I bought a 'brand new' tplink router. Somehow the model does not look like the same model on the manufacturers page. Worse, the features I bought it for - parental control - do not work. And yes, I bought it from a Nigerian.

These are just two stories. I have several of them. The more knowledge you have about what you want to buy, the more you will find that 95% of the people selling are dishonest hustlers who will sell you dubious shit that may even kill you.

People need to learn to ask questions. It is their money. When people start getting cagey, then you know there is an issue.

Ironically it is also a trick that savvy buyers play. Once the seller sees you know exactly what's up, he then drops the price. Last year I needed to buy a hard drive urgently. I found a guy on jiji. He said the drive is 80k.he claimed it was brand new. He brought it without a box. I first checked the serial and then I plugged it in and analysed it. Once I was able to show him that the drive was infact not new and had been powered on 20 times before, he sold it to me for 55k.
