Are u using a lead acid battery. If yes.. Do u av a shunt battery monitor installed in ur system or any type of monitor that shows the amount of amps coming n going out of ur battery? Wat side is ur panel facing. (N, E, S or W)

Hello solar gurus, sorry to disrupt your earthing argument. I have another argument myself that ensued between me and a installer this evening. I was lamenting about the 40% drop of amps from my panels this dry season to him and suspected the culprit to be dust & heat combined.

To my surprise, he insisted that dust was a minor factor reducing my panel output. He diagnosed my failing battery as the major factor for the amps drop.

So please, is there any way a weak battery can result to lesser output from my panels?

I am scared of answering the question in your penultimate sentence, make you no find me come house... ...but going by my current set up, I would do so if I were in your shoes.

In fact, I actually have 4 units of 540w on my roof, but I have only 2 connected since I am on a 12v connection. When I upgrade to 24v and connect all 4 units, I should be doing x2 of what i am currently doing now, on the same CC. But, let more experienced folks give their advise as well.

Yes. Connect it in 2p2s. Ie connect 2 pairs in parallel n connect the pairs in series. If d panel nah 500w say 50v 10a. U'll av 100v 20a flowing through ur wire. Make sure u check ur panel max series fuse. N use the rated fuse for d penels Incase there is a short. So ur panels can b safe.

U just won't b able to use ur pumping machine with d washing machine. Infact while pumping d likes of tv, freezer and washing machine must b off. 1hp will take something around to 1200w continuous draw. I'll advice u go for lifepo4 batteries too.

Crown Ricco plus. Idle consumption is less or equal to 28w. It has a big toroidal transformer inside it. N d inverter is very heavy.

E will b charging 2400w daily. If he's doing 50% dod. 800w is truly not enough considering the fact that other appliances will b on during sunlight. But if he's on a tight budget. That will do.

A 2.5kva inverter with continuous power of 2kw n surge of 6kw will handle ur load just 5n n u'll get 1 for 150k.
D charge controller is pwm n u won't get optimal conversion from ur panels go for powmr. Someone here has some units... 1 is 62k (last I checked).
I'll advice u get 2 400w panels(800w) for 200k than 4 200w(also 800w) for 240k.
If ure in Lagos u can get 6mm cables in alaba for 1k/yd.
The change over is too big. Buy d medium 100a type. U won't b pulling more than 10a through it after all. It's 2k.
Don't no why he's getting big PVC. The normal PVC will accommodate 16mm cable just 5n. It's 400 for 1 trunk. U can't use more than 2.
The components connection cable is too low for N900/yd. U need 16mm n it's 2200/yd.. 3-4yd max. U need to components close to each other.
If u can up ur budget small. U can still get 130a lifepo4 battery 8 pieces (400k) plus 40k BMS. This will save u from buying battery capacity monitor, battery rack, watching out for 50% DOD n change d battery in 2-3 years of use.

Well my own is carry multimeter go. Test amps n volts of the panel under sun. Multiple them. If it doesn't give anything close to d panels wattage. Go elsewhere.

Unless u don't buy ur items ursef. Every item inside that paper is expensive. Just last week I called a supplier for 3.5kva inverter with AC charger n she said it's 185k. 2.5kva is around 145k. N it not even a transformerless inverter. That charge controller he won use nah those regular pwm.
Brand new panel 300w in alaba is 74k. Yingli own is around 76 I can go on and on. Dey try enter market n know price. Nobi weitin people tell u u go believe everytime.

I do agree it is better you source the items yourself to ensure quality but you will likely spend more than the quote for the exact items.

You will need panels n 2 300w panel will do since there's 5hrs of light n that will charge it battery. The prices listed there are high. I don't see surger protectors in the list. The charge controller hell b using won't be mppt for sure. Best is you buy material yourself. N giving the price of the battery. He's buying a sealed lead acid battery of low grade.
