I think the reason why army wants to write the exam first is to see the level of turn up.. before they now make a conscious decision to shortlist a certain number of applicants per state..

Those guys are NAF SF guys on training you don't expect anything less moreover you can't even compare NAFs manpower strength to that of the NA as at 2014 NAf only had about 3000 commissioned officers so catering for them shouldn't be a big deal.
Have you ever being to Jaji? If you see NA's SF guys you no go fit talk oo! NAF SF guys are even trained there.
With what I know, the army is really trying when it comes to kitting their personnel, what the said personnel decides to do with the kits is another matter entirely. Even most of the last SSC guys I know who are currently in the theatre of operations in the NE were issued brand new looking rifles, communication gadgets, full military kits etc, there welfare package is now very attractive, if you no come close you no go know or understand forget what you read on the media. We may want to talk about motorised equipments etc but when it comes to personnel kits they are really trying.

We keep preaching to people that once you are commissioned, you are first a soldier before being any other thing, why do you think you are taught how to handle weapons if you ain't going to use it. Whether dssc, ssc, rc, ec, or, etc, just zero your mind as a soldier that you'll serve anywhere and you may die within seconds. As a soldier, you have no life and peace, the only life you have is the one you are to lose for your country. And as a soldier, you swore an oath to the country and the president, am saying all these to tell those who still think being a soldier is about starching khaki and visiting Shoprite to buy milk.

When the list was released in 2016, I just couldn't accept not making it to the interview. I was seriously devastated, age had caught up with me having initially graduated at a very young age.
One evening after I finished teaching some children lesson (side hustle) their father paid me and guess what? That night I boarded a car to Jos, since I couldn't get a car to Abuja, from Jos, I boarded another car to Akwanga, from Akwanga I got another car to Abuja all in one night with the hope of seeing Buratai's wife at NAOWA headquarters.
Upon arriving Abuja at about past midnight, I boarded a cab to NAOWA headquarters with the hope of sleeping in the open air and probably seeing her when she arrives in the morning.
A soldier confronted me and asked about my mission at that time of the night. After narrating my ordeal, he said " so you want her to remove somebody's name and put your own Abi" I felt so bad and left. I trekked almost 3 to 4 km from NAOWA headquarters till I got to a bridge, I sighted a mosque, rested for some hours, prayed my Fajr prayer and soon I was on my way back to Bauchi. The passion for the army just burnt my hard earned ₦10000 lesson money.
In 2018, I wrote two letters, one to chief of army staff and the other to chief of defence staff hoping a miracle will happen but Ina. I even almost gatecrashed Serti but since my course was not advertised I felt my chances were low.
It's 2020, and guess what, am giving it another shot because the worst I can do is to give up on God. Indeed Victory is From God Alone.
