Politics › Has Niger Deltan Region Gained Or Lost More Under Goodluck? by jemype(op): 7:42am On Jan 26, 2015 |
I asked this question because i want to really know if Jonathan has followers from this region and if he has done anything to change the living condition of the common man from his region. I see buharis supporters are ready to die for him if need be as they are hang on trees to see him. I was expecting more from Niger deltans who have an incubent man but the only thing i hear is Asari Dokubo this or that. Does Goodluck have genuine followers from the masses that have gained from his tenure or is it that Niger deltans dont like him or they are divided? Pls paste your personal views as a nigerian or niger deltan. And by the way pls just assume am from a neutral party probably SDP and i am doing it for research sake. Arguments are welcome and im a first time poster if that is what it is called. |

Romance › Re: My Experience Dating A Nigerian Police by jemype(m): 3:58pm On Jan 17, 2015 |
This is the second post of urs i am Im Reading. I find it quite interestIng dear. Keep it up. Naijasinglegirl: I met a policeman on Monday. I had stood for over 10 minutes trying to cross the highway before an elderly policeman came to my rescue. He flagged down all incoming vehicles for me to cross safely. I thanked him and proceeded to walk away but he asked for my name & place of origin. When I told him, he came up with a fable of how his grandma's sister-in-law nephew is my uncle brother cousin. Typical Nigerian behaviour of tracing your family ancestry to theirs when they need your attention. *sigh*
Then he pointed at a bar and told me to sit out with my 'village person' briefly. I stuttered on how I needed to be home in 10 minutes and all he did was take one look at me and another at his cellotaped patched gun strut around his shoulders. Who wan die? I quietly followed him.
We sat by the window. He told me to order a drink and I timidly requested for pineapple fayrouz for fear that he might arrest me if I order a fancy champagne and ibo. For where? Then he told me some unfunny jokes and I had to let out a fake laughter for fear that he might shoot me if I don't find him funny. To sum up how miserable I was, his mode of communication was unadulterated pidgin. When he noticed I was twiddling with my straw nervously, he gave me that crafty, 'relax, the police is your friend' look.
"Baby girl as you never chop here, shebi you go follow me go house go cook soup for us?" "Sir I can't oh. I have a slight fever and I feel drowsy." I replied, flabbergasted at his request. "Drowsy drowsy...drowsy." He murmured repeatedly. "Na why you for drink stout instead of this yeye sugar water so the drowsy go just commot."
"What I mean is, I feel sleepy." I said. He walked briskly to the window and pointed towards the left. "You see that catholic church. You go go my house go sleep. E no far from here. Just waka straight, enter that compound opposite that catholic church, ask for chairman house. Na me be the area commander for this side." He looked me in the eyes and smirked. "As you don become my girl, nobody fit make trouble with you for this town." Na so! One hawker passed with a bucket of buns. "Egg roll dey pass oh!" He exclaimed. " You go chop am with your mineral?" "Thank you." I said sincerely. I couldn't laugh. Apparently, the only way I could break-up with my new romantic boyfriend was to play along. I told him to give me an hour so I could go over to my house, drop my bags and come over to his for a nap. His face lightened up. He brought out a hideous walkie talkie phone and told me to input my phone number. One of those Hollywood 'Jack Bauer, do you copy' alcatel gadgets. I took his, typed mined in his walkie talkie but replaced the last digit with 4. My apologies to the unlucky person. He produced a bunch of keys and twirled out a spare for me. "Panadol dey for table for sitting room if the fever still dey do you. Shebi you go wait till I come house? I go come meet you around that kind 6. " "6 ke? Ah Oga Police don't you have armed robbers to shoot? Don't you have roadblocks to mount?" Those where my thoughts but I didn't voice them out. I nodded in affirmation and left.
I'm still with his key. I have no intentions of ever passing his lane and I'm lucky where I live is quite a distance. Here is to hoping I don't find my photo in one of those wanted posters. If that is how local a relationship with a man in uniform is, abeg abeg abeg I no want. |

Christianity Etc › Re: A Northern Muslim Girl's Letter To Christians by jemype(m): 8:27pm On Jan 14, 2015 |
I think muslims should také a cue from christians. Without speaking in a bias manner muslims rule nigeria to b sincere. They have planned every sector for a muslim to enter. Lemme give u an example- is it a coincidence dat ova 57 local govs in lagos dere r only 3 local govt chairmen dat r xtians. It is jus planning and dat is their strenght unfortunately as regards education its d opposite. People complain of xtian universites charging high and exorbitant fees but look at the best 20 universites in nigeria and seee how many xtian universites are dere. Compare it wit d amount of muslim unis in existence and u will see how we solved d issue of radicalism among xtians. Muslims need to invest more in education and add english to the syllabus of islamic education so people can hear scholars when they are misinterpreting tins for students. sameera025: Hello everyone, I just wanted to share my story and invite Christians who have reservations about Islam to post their questions about the religion here so that we can all understand each other more and hopefully as I result I will be able to change the opinions of those of you who look at our religion in such a negative light.
I am a northern Muslim who was born and raised in the United States. Growing up I was always ashamed of being a Muslim because Islam was hated and considered as weird in the society. As a young child I badly wanted to be a Christian because it seemed easier and cooler. My friends didn't know I was a Muslim because I hid that side of myself. I didn't cover my hair, I dressed as my friends did, I wouldn't pray like I was meant to. I didn't get why it was so important to do all those things. I believed that if anything, practicing my religion would just make me unpopular in school and a bully target. I recall an incident when I was about 6 years old and a friend of mine found an Islamic book in my room. We rummaged through the pages and made fun of the Arabic words, the names we considered to be funny and it was because we were so young and didn't understand it all. I moved to Nigeria as a teenager and it was here that I felt comfortable being a Muslim. Being around so many other Muslims and Christians who were accepting of the religion made me feel comfortable in practicing Islam. I began covering up, and when I did I felt the importance of it. As a woman, when you cover up you feel as sense of protection. You don't obsess as much about your looks because your body is concealed. No obsessing over how your hair looks, getting attachments all that pressure because no one can see it. I began to pray daily and at doing so I became a happier person. I felt a closeness towards God and a sense of protection and guidance. I'm ashamed at how I as a child I was embarrassed of my religion. At this point in life I couldn't be more proud to be a muslim. It's still tough being a Muslim in the world today and I know that won't go away soon. But one thing I need you all to understand is the Islam I and a majority of other Muslims practice do not agree with boko Haram and other terrorist groups and their beliefs, the killings, the hatred. We are appalled by their acts even more than Christians are. The fact that they do such heinous acts in the name of our religion which clearly condemns against such. The more things seem to escalate with terrorism in the country and around the world, the more I observe how Christians are turning against Islam and how southerners seem to distinguish themselves from the "northerners". It breaks my heart because when I moved here Christians were soo accepting of me, the religion. I got the treatment and acceptance from Nigerian Christians more than I could have ever imagined receiving so In America. I don't choose my friends based on religion or tribe. I love all Nigerians alike. I wish a lot more people could feel the same way too. Anyways I've gone on for too long. I just wanted to share my story in the hopes that I can shed Islam in another light. I know it is a religion that is misunderstood. If you have any questions please ask, I would love to have peaceful discussions and start a little campaign to get Muslims and Christians across the country to work together and love each other again. |
Christianity Etc › Re: A Northern Muslim Girl's Letter To Christians by jemype(m): 8:08pm On Jan 14, 2015 |
I think true islam if practiced is very good. Its unfortunate that these days despite all d preachings and teachings love is very scarce under islam. It is so scarce that many people will be scared to even comment here for fear of d radicals criticizing them to d extreme. I mean we christians have radicals and are diversified but im surprised that the dejected of all christians- jehovah witness and deeper life are the ones who love the most. What i dont like is the fact that many times d religion is misinterpreted by many scholars and muslims due to the fact that many muslims are illiterates and believe what scholars havE taught them. This is not jus a probleM with boko haram as its a major problem generally world wide. I also hate the fact that many evil and deceptive vices are done and hide under d veil of islam. For instance begging- from what i have herd about beggars, some believe they were brought in to this life to beg and they even lent money from the elites to travel to beg in mecca. Is it dat elites cant help get rid of beggars from d mosque even wit d way they are all so close. Islam has its good sides i like i wont lie but its jus that these days many bad vices hide under islAm and i put the blame on scholars and illiteracy. |

Western Nigeria is a country different from Nigeria. And there is no love that will ever make it part of Nigeria. It is an issue of respect.
You can say you are someone friend and you are cheating the person and you want that cheating to continue. It is not possible. The APC \ pdp are political which does not represent our people view..
The issue in kano is not drug use.
Violent in Nigeria has nothing to do with drug. But more a fight for someone ethnic group.

Romance › Re: Seven Dangerous People You Should Never Marry by jemype(m): 7:43pm On Dec 20, 2014 |
U forgot to tell us d village where d gels dat r not lyk dis exist. deleyi20: I am new on Nairaland and this is my First Post. I hope someone learns from it.
SEVEN DANGEROUS PEOPLE YOU SHOULD NEVER MARRY
1. MR/MISS CONTAINER AND NOT CONTENT Anyone that is ONLY after your body and sex is a NO-NO for a marriage partner and such a person would definitely have nothing to offer to enhance your worth or value or contents in life towards fulfilling destiny. In a world where a lot of vices are tampering with marriages, everyone ought to be committed to continual learning to add value to their partners where necessary. A Guy that admires your B**bs and doesn't care about your brains is a dangerous person to marry. A Lady that cares only about your 6packs or beards and doesn't bother about your Intellectual Prowess is very dangerous to marry.
2. MR/MISS SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS- A SINNER Whoever does not have a conscious regard for God will never have a conscious regard for you. If you can’t obey God and His word to flee away from sin then cheating on your partner won’t be a difficult task hence such a person is dangerous. It is easier for a man/woman that sincerely fears God and obeys His word to respect the Sacredness of marriage. A playboy today will definitely be a play husband tomorrow, a play girl today will definitely be a play-wife tomorrow.
3. MR/MISS VANITY- MATERIALISTIC PERSONS We now live in a world where people place so much value on material things that they’re willing to sacrifice anything to get them. We now hear stories of people perpetuating all kinds of evil (rituals, losing virginity, etc). Whoever would loose virginity for Iphone6 is dangerous. PLEASE NOTE: I don’t hate material things at all but i believe in moderation in our love for the pleasures of this world. If you find yourself in a relationship with someone that is overly conscious and addicted to materialism and the vain pleasures of life, quit it now. That person is dangerous.
4. MR/MISS ANGER Whoever cannot control anger is a Time-Bomb waiting to explode. Such a person lacks discipline and self control which is a basic requirement to succeed in life. Avoid ill-tempered people like your life depends on it. They're very dangerous for marriage.
5. MR/MISS I KNOW IT ALL - LACK OF TEACHABLE SPIRIT Nobody is a reservoir of knowledge and as such everyone must be dedicated to learning new useful things on a daily basis especially from your partner. If you have a partner that doesn’t care to learn from your views on issues, you just desist because that is a dangerous person to marry.
6. MR/MISS NO VISION FOR LIFE There are a lot of people moving around the world with Crowd Mentality. No destination so everywhere or anywhere looks like it for them. Beware of such people, they are very dangerous to marry.
7. MR/MISS LIABILITY - NO/ZERO FINANCIAL PLANS OR ABILITY With the current financial/economic downturn the world is experiencing including Nigeria, We don’t need to emphasise on the importance of having a source of income. it is no longer a male thing only, even women also have a duty to be engaged. Whoever is still lazy about achieving this is a very dangerous person to marry.
Your views through your comments would definitely be appreciated.
Thank You. |
