canadaman18: Sauga is definitely a solid location for Software related jobs and youre close to Toronto so good pick
Depends what your background is and what your area of interest is. Software development is pretty broad and I personally think its much better to become a master of one specific area and some knowledge of others than just knowing a bit of everything with no expertise in one(other developers will argue with me on this i'm sure).
In general there is Back End Development which usually involves very strong knowledge of C++, Python or Java.
And there is Front End development which nowadays involves knowledge of Frameworks such as Angular / React / Vue / Rails
There is also Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning but this is fairly advanced and while it doesnt hurt to pick up as a side interest, most jobs only hire very experienced AI engineers or PHD holders. (ofcourse there are exceptions)
There is also the dev ops / build tools route which usually involves a lot of scripting in Bash or PErl. I personally find this boring but some love it.
There is also the Database route although with noSQL technologies becoming more dominant and a lot of scaling and balancing all done automatically and cloud storage , this route I believe is a dying one.
Finally there is Full Stack Development which involves a bit of everything.
Note : the questions asked in interviews at top software companies and the ones youll see in the material I mentioned are usually language independent. Theyll focus more on complex problem solving using any language of your choice although most places from what I hear frown at using JavaScript
To finally answer your question I dont know any bridging programs per say but my advice is once you have an area of interest , use udemy or udacity to learn more about the tool stack for that area, and then work n a personal project which will look good on your resume and get you more comfortable with development. Do this alongside leetcode for optimal result . Thanks for your post. Please is there any demand or opportunity for cyber security engineers / pen testers /malware analyst over there ? And for backend Developers, JavaScript node and python Django, which is worth it more over there regarding opportunities and pay? |

Larrylrkay: Please, can someone with no basic knowledge in ICT be able to understand and learn this materia by himself.
I am an art student and I will be glad if i can learn this on my own. Yes. Two of the books will introduce you to python Programming and things you can do with it. |

Larrylrkay: Am interested too bros. If possible we can organise another thread for it. To all that need the python materials, I'll upload them on Google drive tomorrow and drop the link here. It will include python for data science/machine learning/artificial intelligence ebooks, Django web development, penetration testing and cyber security, and python scripting. I think this is better than attending to individual PMs |

ajeleseujn: MySQL or ORACLE Syntax is perfect for a start.
My take though. Alright thanks I'm already a cyber security engineer and web developer(python). Will appreciate if you have some insights on these two careers in Germany. |

ajeleseujn: Anyone you learn is a goal.
Besides, you don't have to start with a very cumbersome programming language that will take you years to know. You can start with Database Management. This will only take you months to know, before you know it, you have a skill in the bag already. Most people don't seems to pay attention to this skill and the demand is hot and it is paying really well. Thanks for your response. Are you talking of database in general like MySQL, postgresql , mongoDB or ERP database systems like Oracle and SAP? |
Travel › Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 6 by jendy36(m): 8:03am On Mar 03, 2019 |
devmantic: Having a good knowledge of the German language prior to graduation is important although most international companies in Germany (e.g. Siemens, BASF, German Aerospace Centre [DLR] etc.) are more than willing to hire young foreign graduates who speak English and have limited German language skill upon graduation. On the long run, one is expected to learn German over time if he/she wants to work and live in Germany. The main challenge in landing a job after studies is skill-related. Imagine having a skill that is on-demand yet rare to find (e.g. programming with Python, C++, Java or being a specialist in MATLAB, AutoCAD, PDMS etc.), everytime you submit a CV, I can guarantee you that you will be given an opportunity for an interview in English. So my advice to those coming to study in Germany will be to focus on STEM-related courses and DO ALL YOU CAN to master a software skill (either in Nigeria or in Germany via internships or HiWis). I hope this was helpful. Hello , Thanks for your insightful post. Regarding the ICT software skills, which are in more demand, as ICT is so broad? Web development App development Networking Cloud computing Cyber security AWS skills SAP ERP Graphics Data science Artificial intelligence Machine learning |

Hello all,
Please when a university abroad asks of your secondary school certificate with enclosed transcript of records, what do they mean?
What am I expected to send as my secondary school transcript? For the secondary school certificate, I understand they are asking for either SSCE or WASSCE certificates. What do they mean by secondary school transcript of records please? Do they mean the results I got each term from my secondary school which contains the subjects I took and the score? |

trastar: You took my post out of context. That was in response to the last invitation round which was just 300 people invited. That's an "abnormal" round and it's no surprise only people with high points got invited. Things should return to normal soon and some occupations will get invited with 60 points. Ok |
Travel › Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by jendy36(m): 9:19pm On Jan 13, 2018 |
trastar: I went through this thread and I didn't see anyone with a 70 point invited. So I'm confused? Also with the tiny number of people invited on The 3rd, I'd be surprised any 70 will be invited. Does it mean that someone with a score of 60 points has no hope? |
