So, I've gleaned these from the comments here. Reasons to BUY or NOT TO BUY MTN Nigeria to Buy- IPO's usually rally for a few weeks or even months before falling, the trick is to know when to jump out, JIJO crew - Numbers released so far are very juicy, healthy year on year % growth in key performance indicators - Dividends are uhlalah - Momentum is more important than fundamentals, MTN is the rave of the moment, coupled with scarcity price will rally not to Buy- Before listing results are always to rosy, after you jump in the losses pile up and deductions of various kinds start poping up - IPO's are usually overpriced, better wait for a few results to better gauge it's worth, there will always to an opportunity to enter at a good price - The market is bearish, and has beaten down fundamentally sound companies to attractive prices, better buy a stock with years of stable earnings, dividends etc than the new kid on the block - Retail investors won't get in at an attractive price, ending up holding the empty can In all, Due Diligence is advised |

currentprice: according to my bedsheet based on Q3 banks results fidelity bank appears to be the cheapest bank selling at 200% N6 discounts follow by Access bank with 160% N21 discounts follow by UBA, follow by zenith etc.
my own opinion o, mkt have its own
@currentprice How do you calculate discount. Does 100% discount not mean the price gets to zero? How do you get over 100% discount and the price is +ve? |

adebrain: 6. Watch out for stock market activity of the company owners, directors or executives
Companies must divulge insider trading, as in the purchase and sales of shares owned by substantial shareholders or directors. They have the most current intel, so heavy selling or buying can be a sign. Where can one get such info on Nigerian stocks? |

ROSSIKE: People forget that Bob Mugabe personally fought in the bush for 20 years in the Rhodesian war of independence, which brought about the independent Zimbabwe. Such a guy doesn't have time to mince words, or sell his country down the river... Agreed, but the man should stop living in the past, his ZANU-PF colleagues keep talking of how he chased out the colonial government, but what about the Zimbabwe of today? Anyway what he said is true but then he's Mugabe, so I won't listen to him. |
