alexistaiwo: So you swear on your life this meme was created in 2009 right after James Avatar was released? Hold this for me, I am coming Twilight came out 2008. Avatar 2009. The meme consolidates the cinema mindset of that era. You can act ignorant as much as you want but you need to hold that L |

alexistaiwo: James Cameron avatar memes in 2009? Did you change your supplier? If you have nothing to say, keep quiet. You that was still buying Alaba 5 in 1 vcd to watch movies in 2009? My niggA, just be honest that you watched the movie years too late. You weren't aware when the avatar craze was going on. |

oyaskii: My Take on Avatar (2009)
Visuals and ground breaking cinematography... 9/10
Pop culture impact......2/10
The plot was basically Pocahontas retold.
Will still see the sequels tho Becuz James Cameron Visuals, Tech and Cinematography is so top notch. Pop culture impact of Avatar is 10/10. Do you know how many people used the blue avatars as Halloween costumes? The numerous parodies and memes of avatar? |

alexistaiwo: Have you ever wandered into South African cyberspace? The way they mix English with their native language is something worth emulating. As for you being in Sweden, I have one advice for you The fact that you are mad doesn't mean you also have to be foolish, they are both mutually exclusive.
Lol......use your brain, south Africa does not have 200 plus languages. And you are talking to me, a non native. |

alexistaiwo: Insulting back will only lead to one end. A full blown tribal themed foul mouthed conflict
I never asked you for your tribe for the same reason that I didn't insult him. I don't care where you are from, stupidity transcends across all tribe. When I look at people, I don't see ethnicity, I see flesh and bones and in your case, I see an online fool covered with flesh and bones Omo ale jati jati You don't see tribe but you behave like a village man that cant speak one full sentence in English without adding Yoruba. I would have believed your non tribalist stand if you hadn't written Yoruba to me, a foreigner to Nigeria. We don't speak yoruba here in Sweden |

alexistaiwo: There are some fights that I try to avoid. Tribal themed ones are at the top of the list. I have many igbo men as best of friends and one as a lover. How do you expect me to trash their tribe here and laugh with them when we hook up in the evening. Sharrap. You could have just called him out on his foolishness and move on. No need to insult igbos. I have also noticed that you have never asked me my tribe. Maybe you assume I'm something.... |

Octopusssy: Yes I understand. My point is asides the visual effects, what else does Avatar have going? A moral lesson on preserving nature over business and colonial interest? A plot trope called "white saviour complex". A non-tragic romeo and juliet love story between 2 different species. A covert message about trangendering (changing bodies) and jungle fever? |

troubleseller: It was because of the 3D at the time and people went back to see it a lot of times it became a part of pop culture. Same thing with Black Panther. Story wise, it was not the greatest movie but visually, it was revolutionary for its time and people had not seen something like it at that time. If it was released now it might not have made as musch momey now as it made then. Even till today, there are not many films that have the 3d quality that Avatar has. if Avatar was released today it would still be a blockbuster. It might not earn as much but it could still be a billion doarcearning film. As for black panther, it was a solid film. A simple story that had strong impact on western culture. Black panther cannot be overrated. Its cultural significance will always exist even in ten years time. |

Octopusssy: Am I the only one not crazy about Avatar? I watched it in 2010, but for the life of me I couldn't see what all the hype was about. Yes, it has superlative visuals, but asides that i wasn't overly thrilled by the storyline or the movie itself. Alexistaiwo, see what watching aba version DVD or video on your laptop causes? Somebody opens mouth to say that she doesn't see what the hype about avatar is. Don't get me wrong, she does not have to like it but not to see why other people would like it? For instance, I hated bird box but I understood why people liked it- it was a suspenseful horror thriller that made you question every move since the monsters could not be seen....or if you see them, you run mad and die. |

troubleseller: Big movies? So Beetlejuice was a big movie? Or Clean and Sober? Or A Knight's Tale or Brokeback Mountain?
Just try and watch Cosmopolis, The Rover, Good Time and High Life all starring Pattinson. Then we can maybe talk better on the subject of Pattinson's casting. People loved beetlejuice, brokeback mountain and a knights tale. I'm sorry, I'm even afraid to watch those Pattinsons movies you just listed. Funny how no one has mentioned any of those movies since I've been on this thread..... |

kushercain: Aflecks batman felt more like a batman from an alternate universe. Too much bulk and no agility. But trust me, Ben is a classic "brooder." From pearl harbor, the town, the accountant. The guy good abeg. Hmmm. I have seen the accountant and the town. Hmmm I still hate Ben Afflecks batman. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by JeromeBlack: 10:47pm On May 17, 2019 |
troubleseller: 1. I am not talking about accomplishment. 2. Keaton was known for comedic roles. He had only done one or two non comedic roles before he was cast as Batman. 3. Heath had done one or two excellent movies, including Brokeback before he was cast. Still fans were livid that someone who played a gay character was cast to play a very psychopathic character like the Joker. See how that turned out. 4. There is something called an iteration or take of a character. Ben Affleck was playing an iteration of Batman that was older and war weary. He was not fat. He bulked up. There is a difference. 5. Speaking of actors being accomplished, what do you mean by accomplished? Getting an Oscar nom? Starring in many movies? In fact, neither Keaton nor Heath were as popular as Pattinson is now whem they took their respective roles so I don't know what you mean by accomplished. What I mean by "accomplished" is that they had big movies with great roles under their belts. Pattinson is only popular for twilight. A movie in which his role was a constipated looking metrosexual bitch vampire. His acting was constipated in every sense of the word. |

troubleseller: Just say you haven't watched any other film of his to judge. Shikena. The same thing was said of Heath Ledger, Michael Keaton and most recently Ben Affleck. They all turned out alright. No. Ledger and Keaton were accomplished actors. Ledger had "a knights tale" under his belt before the dark knight. Although, his other movies were mostly romance and some of them were big- 10 things I hate about you. Ben Affleck was a disgrace to Batman and I am happy that I am still one of his haters. A freaking fat batman. He was neither a playboy nor a brooding character. |

mekaprime: Yes, I've seen it. But i think phone booth was far more engaging & thrilling, cause of Collin Farrell & Kiefer. And secondly asides the Blade trilogy, i despise every movie that stars Wesley Snipes(I just can't explain why). How old are you? Wesley Snipes was the big action black guy of the 90s. Even now, he still has expedables 3 under his belt. |

KoiceReloaded: Sez who? The people that are signing a petition (that will go nowhere) are the same people that have taken a dislike to him since the Twilight saga, and haven't been able to mentally separate him from that role since. To them, he will always be an Edward Cullen. Their loss, cuz the dude is actually very talented. Watch him in Good Time, and you'll see what I mean. The guy must suffer for that twilight crap. |

TheKingIsHere: Same thing was said about Ben affleck some years back when he was chosen to act Batman. I remember some people on Twitter saying he should stick to romance movies. Today, he is being praised as one of the best Batman.
Heath ledger was also criticized when he was cast as the joker, they said he doesn't fit the role. Today, he is praised as the best joker . The best batman of modern times is Christian Bale. Affleck is a disgrace |
