Ihedinobi3: Of course there will always be something and there has always be something. I just don't see any sensible reason to believe that that thing is the physical universe. The physical universe clearly decays. There is no argument about that. That means that, say what you will about energy, it is destined to decay in perpetuity barring some intervention of an external factor that must of necessity be greater than itself.
Thus, the physical universe does not self-exist. Something else made it. And it is that something else that sustains it and that can renew it or perpetuate it.
As for looking for something outside the Universe when I don't know everything there is to know about the universe, that is neither here nor there. There is no reason at all to consider the Universe self-existing. That, of necessity, points to some cause outside the Universe itself. False! The physical universe will continue to exist forever. It may not be in the form we are used to now but it will exist. You are assuming that something created the universe and sustains it. Even if that were true, it cannot be your God who is ignorant of science and cosmology. The universe exists and that is all we know. So far, there has never been any cosmic evidence for your God and he/she has never helped us humans to understand the universe......therefore, I can only believe in the universe and not your nonentity of a God. |

DoctorAlien: When it is said that the universe had a beginning, it is meant that there was a time when the universe (matter/energy, space and time) began to exist. They were not formerly in existence. If there was a time when the universe(the totality of everything) began to exist, how is that not a beginning? You do realise that time is an abstract contstruct? Matter, space and energy have no bearing on time. Time exists metaphysically without the constraint of materiality. Just sit down and think of the paradox you just put yourself into. You said that there was no time before the big bang. But mathematically that is nonsensical- If Time at the big bang is represented by T If Time 1 hour after the big bang is represented by T+1 Then, we have to ask about what happened at T-1 (1 hour before the big bang) A simple question of causality can also illustrate the point- WHAT CAUSED THE BIG BANG? If something caused the big bang, then it must have happened before the big bang. |

Ihedinobi3: Stability is fundamental to eternity. If something goes through a cycle of degradation and renewal, the question does arise: "how is that possible?"
Degradation results from failure due to the pressure of external forces. Renewal results from the same. That a thing degrades its own self makes no sense. That it renews itself after degradation makes even less sense.
On the other hand, that a thing is in a constant state of perfection makes sense if that thing is not of this Universe at all and transcends everything in existence. Stability is not fundamental to eternity in this case. What we are talking about is the existence of energy. Energy has different forms and will always exist in one form or another.....for eternity. There will always be something. Why can't it also be that there has always been something. Infinite future? Then why not infinite past! You have not even gotten to half of our known universe, yet you are arguing for a being that is out of this universe. nonsense. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Is A Creator A Logical Conclusion? by JeromeBlack: 10:28am On Feb 23, 2019 |
DoctorAlien: If you understand that the universe is currently running out of usable energy, then you'd know that proposition 1 cannot be true. For if the universe has always been here, then it would have run out of usable energy a long time ago.
But even more than that, physicists now agree that the universe had a beginning. Even theories of "multiverses" and cyclic "universes "cannot be extended indefinitely into the past. A beginning must necessarily occur at one point. LIES! Our universe has a beginning if only you assume that the big bang is a beginning. Also, note that the usable energy is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. There will always be energy just not the ones useful to humans. Remember that humans are less than 0.01% of the universe. |

Ihedinobi3: Logic is a good tool when it is used right. But it is true that it can be misused.
Any honest person can tell that the Universe around us and our own selves can only be explained in one of two ways:
1. We have always been here.
2. Something more powerful and greater than the Universe put us here.
#1 proposition is obviously false. That which is eternal would necessarily be stable in its existence but the Universe decays.
#2 proposition is then left by elimination. But any honest observation of the Universe and our own nature as human beings leads straight to the conclusion that a God exists.
As for the question that you pose to theists in the end, unbelief in a God is illogical because it is a deliberate divorce of an obvious effect from a cause. What an abuse of reasoning. What if Proposition #1 is true? I believe in the eternal existence. My reasoning is that there will always be something in the future (even when our sun dies out and blows up everything in our galaxy thousands of years from now) why couldnt it be that there has always been something in the past? There are scientists that are working with a theory of a cyclical universe in which there is constant creation and destruction |

DC's animations are usually better than Marvel's. However no other DC or Marvel animation compares to into the spider verse. The animation style, the jokes, the intirguing plot etc. Lest not forget that into the spider verse was released in cinemas unlike any DC animation. |

No matter of awareness will give people common sense. Some people are educated but lack common sense. I've already planned how I'll watch Avengers when it drops.
I'll ignore the first two weeks after the movie drops, because within that first two weeks, a lot pf people will be rushing in droves to go see it especially corpers and undergraduates. Then by the 3rd week, on a Friday (Saturday and Sunday are always the best time for movie goers) after work by 4pm, I'll rush down to the cinema and hopefully, only a handful of adult MALES will be around and I can get have some decorum while I enjoy my movie. Beorn: The last time I went to the cinema to watch a movie before this year was last two years and the movie was Bahubaali 2. Almost Everything you listed up there, I experienced it. Coupled with the fact that the film was below par, I stayed off cinemas for more than a year. Cinema goers in Nigeria are freaking annoying.
On that traumatic day, two love struck teenagers were seated in front of me, giggling, laughing and kissing like two fools that just experienced sex for the first time in their life. In short, I don't think I understood that movie. The best way to watch a movie for me is home alone, with nobody to freaking disturb me. The only movie I'm seeing again this year in the cinema is the concluding Avengers. I cannot cough out my hard earned money only for some nuisance to ruin my cinema experience. Ah, a fellow victim of noisemakers in the cinema hall I swear, it is a very painful experience. After paying 3,000 naira for movie ticket (which includes popcorn) and another 2,000 on top shawarma (that is 5k for one and 10k for two)!!! That means I will pay 10k for me and my babe, only to be irritated by razz noisemakers in the cinema hall. Please, let us spread awareness that it is bad manners to make noise or roam about in the cinema hall! |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by JeromeBlack: 10:07am On Feb 22, 2019 |
Kaycee7: As sad as it sounds bro, there's little to nothing we can do about it. No one customer owns the cinema and there really aren't any rules about side talks and phone use (except if you're trying to record the movie on camera). You would have to constitute some form of general nuisance to be booted from a Nigerian cinema. This is why I rarely go to the cinema on weekends. You're less likely to meet characters like this on a weekday. It is a sad situation. The best we can do is to spread awareness so that people know that it is wrong to be a noisemaker/nuisance in the cinema hall. You never know the people you can change. For instance, I know that our friend, alexistaiwo (aka Kazeem Mukaila) is a yoruba ninja that wouldnt hesitate to act like an omo nile inside the cinema hall- however, after my post, he has seen the errors in his aje pako ways. |

5 types of rude Nigerians in the cinemaI had the worst time watching Alita the battle angel today. I dont know why Nigerians cannot keep quiet in the cinema hall. 1) The commenters- there were some idiots that were just analysing the movie in the cinema hall as if that is their day job. Very razz set of people with no manners. The worst was that they were mixing yoruba and english....so it was clear that they were very local. Alexistaiwo knows what I mean. 2) The unsupervised kidsWhy would parents/teachers leave kids between ages (6-14) unsupervised in the cinema hall? These kids are so noisy. Worse is that the movie is rated above some of their ages. I also worry for our youth as clearly the teachers/parents have refused to teach them manners (cinema etiquette) 3) The Perambulators (aka wakabout/walk-abouts)You would think that its is only children that roam about cinema halls but no, the adults roam too. Some go to buy food, urinate, receive calls and even usher in new friends into the cinema halls. Adults should know how to clear their schedule and urinate ahead of the movie time, so that they dont have to roam about when the movie has started. Children must be supervised/warned so that they dont roam. In addition to roaming, some aSSsholes use their phone torchlights to blind those watching the movie. 4) The gistersThese are people who come with their friends or partners to gist during the movie. They are more interested in discussing with their partners than watching the movie. There are three types; a) The romancing couple- rather than going to a hotel to have sex and bedroom talk, they will be gisting about their personal lives through what is happening in the movie. b) The aSSshole group of friends usually guys who are part of the "lad culture". They want to show each other how cool they are to each other. They are usually commenters who try to show off their knowledge of film trivia of the film that is playing in the cinema hall c) The work/play/church/school group these are usually work colleagues or church friends etc who come as a group and want everyone to notice their group. 5) The phone browsersThese are the ones that are not even interested in the movie. They are either there to waste time or maybe their ticket was paid for by another person. These people fail to realise how annoying the brightness of their phone is to others in a dark cinema hall. These people will browse throughout the movie. They are usually women for some reason unknown to me. Please, can we stop these rude behaviours? I had to embarrass a couple today because I just could not take it. I told them to shut up and watch the film because everyone else paid the same money for their tickets. They shut up and kept quiet throughout the movie cc mjbolt, ibkayee, olu4life, AHCB, Blackmanta, viking007, cao, kaycee7, hulk616 |

Was it when the different personalities started switching or when the beast emerged taking note that we were already made to be aware of a new beastlike personality which others worship. Or was it when the last girl was spared taking note that the beast operate with the philosophy "blessed are those who have suffered" Or was it the death of his psychologist, it goes without saying that she will become a threat one way or another because she knows too much.
Please tell me the plot twist
