Career › Re: MSc In UK Versus N183k Job Offer: Advice Please by JerryDM1: 11:27am On Sep 08, 2017 |
DanXplore: Please, i could use some career advice from great nairalanders. Please tag monikers that you think would be of great help, as i am at a crucial point in my career.
I am a graduate of chemcal engineering but for 2years now, have not gotten any engineering related job. The only job i got was at KPMG (audit), which i resigned after 3 months due to some personal reasons. I am currently an Area Sales Rep with a poultry feed production company that pays 183k per month (net take home after tax and other necessary deductions), though i could use up to 20 to 25k to fuel my car monthly. Now, i just got a PTDF scholarship offer to study Advanced process integration and design in UK but not really sure if it is worth ditching my current job for it.
I am not very confident about securing a job once i finish msc because only a handful of opportunities come for chemical engineers. more also,UK rarely retains Nigerians.
Please what are your advices, especially from those who have done Msc in Uk.
I need your advices, i dont want to make a costly mistake. Being a private firm job, I would rather say you forfeit it as you don't know what might happen tomorrow. Go for the scholarship, by so doing, you are investing in your self which will greatly profit you and your career. Take the risk of quitting your job. |

No wonder Britain granted them self rule in 1957 before other regions!
Yorubas are naturally ahead. No be by empty chest beat, claiming 75% ownership outside southwest, posting ewedu and tribal mark pictures!
God bless yorubas and yorubaland. God bless Nigerians and Nigeria. Mtcheew! Ibadan with rusted roofs. Everything going to the west and north. We must restructure this country by fire and by force. Proudly Deltan. |

henrooik: The amount of money required to be transferred should be based on the university, some universities charge administrative fees while my university did not charge me an addtional fee apart from the required amount for my one year living expenses. But you need to apply for the prove of solvency certificate through the right channel and if approved they will tell you how much you will transfer and give account number where you will make the transfer in one deposit. OK thanks bro |

Damscrob: Studied Chemical Engineering..... But I respect those that study chemistry!...Courses like chemistry, Mathematics, physics should be encouraged because majority of the engineers you see today do their masters in these fields. Nice post but talking from experience and awareness from friends, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Geography are good courses but they are often displaced respectively by Science Lab Tech, Mech / Elect Engr, Statistics, Medical scientists, Geology because of their high practical abilities.... .. |

DonFreshmoney: Cut the long story short. I received the mail for the aptitude test for 26th at Maitama Abuja. But I am already working for Zenith Bank. Is It advisable to go for the test? Also I already have a PhD full tuition scholarship in Melbourne Australia starting January 2018. Am confused, cos zenith bank wouldn't allow me to write DPR test on that day, also is it advisable to quit any job (zenith , DPR) to go for PHD. Please let me know. Thanks Go to Australia bro. Scholarship opportunities like this are scarce. Schooling in Australia is a dream come true. |

dste: I am a Nigerian currently Schooling in China (Shenyang), before i left Nigeria for China i needed some information about life in China and some other things, i tried searching the web so as to see if i could find at least a forum where my fellow Nigerians that are in China interact but it was to no avail. On getting to China, i got to realize that some African Countries already have like a forum and some even a website where they interact with their fellow country-mate but the giant of Africa (my sweet Nigeria) didn't have one. Having spent some months here in China, i've decided to open this forum and i hope it helps my fellow Nigerians who are intending to come or are already in China in many ways. Please let's come together as one for our great country. Boko Haram no dey online.. -_- Thank you for this platform. Plz I want to know if international students (Master's degree) can work and study at the same time in China as applicable to Australia, USA, Canada, etc. Thanks. |
