Food / Re: Do You Remember Or Eat Okin Biscuit?? by Jesimiel(m): 7:28am On Nov 21, 2012
muyik78: Very disshearten, i pass tru the place recently with my whiteman boss,he simply said why wont that happen when our everything is oil, he was looking for fresh milk, throughout the whole of our journey tru swest,he could not find .He turned to me in anger in third day of our tour saying u felt bad about that company dt foldup, why wont it happen when with all these vast greenland u have , all u pple can think of is oil,can oil sustain u and further asked me can ur babies drink oil? i pondered on it for several days. okin is gone,so many will follow until we change our attitude toward agriculture.

We all get this very wrong, the problem with Agriculture is not oil, it is our value system, where we do not value hardwork, where people relate your work rate to your status, believe me if there was no oil we will still not go into Agriculture, maybe we will be into cocain or some other activities that feast on our quest for continual degrading value system .......

But in any case, I love Oki busicuit especially the crisp and slightly burnt ones(either the round one or the short bread) with Treetop drink ..... hmmmmm
Business / Re: CBN Sacks CEOs And Management Of Five Banks by Jesimiel(m): 2:15pm On Aug 17, 2009
I am still of the opinion that the take-over should have been done with much wisdom, this looks more like committing an economical suicide.

Second only to the government establishments, the banking sector is the highest employer of labour in the country, and second to the telecommunications industry, they pull the largest foreign investments.

With a dead power sector, dying health sector, comatose educational sector, and heavily tribal energy sector. Rocking the financial sector this way is a very uninformed move and a confirmation of a governmet without vision nor focus.
This is the only sector of the Nigerian state that seems to have any form of hope and now it is being rocked with careless and reckless political incited reasoning. Let us not forget what happened to National Bank, the employees, the customers and the resultant effect on the economy of the odua states.

There is no bank in Nigeria with such issues like the Bank of America or Citi Bank and even with the bailout money they got we did not hear of the American government taking over them. We really need to learn.

This is a government that can not handle such a simple task of conducting a senatorial rerun election in only one local government now trying to run 5 mayor banks.

Na wa oo. !!
Politics / Re: Problems With Consolidated Banks: Was Soludo A Failure? by Jesimiel(m): 11:00am On Aug 17, 2009
It has been long since I last contributed on this forum, but I have been faithful in following up on such topics as this. I will like to break my silence now.

I will be a bit bias here, because I'm with a school of thought that Nigeria is still an ongoing experiment,   This is indicated by the fact that no individual is considered without reference to his tribe, godfathers and religion. People seldom get accessed by what their rationale thinking patterns are.

To this topic,  I will like to look at the whole matter "out of a nut shell" and view from the perspective of a layman, how such move translates to food on my table, children’s education, health care and provision of basic amenities. Believe it or not we do not have a president that seems not to have an agenda nor has any focus on any solution to deal with any issue.

In my opinion, I see this as a wrong move at a very wrong time and it does not appear it was well thought through, just like any other policies by this PDP led government.
This event quickly drew my mind back to the era of Babagida when he closed down National Bank for almost the same reasons, reasons yet to be proven and I see we are making the same mistakes here.

There is no how you want to relate to this but we first have to admit that the disposed CEO’s have loyalist with funds in these affected banks, what do we think will happen if they all decide to move their funds –please try and relate this to what happened to the American economy and subsequently the world economy when the Persians started withdrawing their funds from American banks,  what will happen to the innocent investors and customers of these banks when this happens, what will subsequently happened to the employees and their families of these banks and what will be the consequence of these on the economy as a whole. Don't we think that the 400bn will go down the drain. I would have prefered the 400bn be invested into Agriculture, healthcare, infracstructure and power.

What investor would want to bring money to an economy where a faulty political policy has such grave consequences on his/her investment? And how do we grow when even the indigenes do not trust there is enough or any security to his investment. Who then would not rather invest in Ghana or elsewhere that politicians do not have such powers.

I would have almost been forced to think that these were such considerations that made Soludo trying constantly to be having intelligent dialogue with these CEO’s rather than taking such economic suicidal move as we have just witnessed.

It is not a matter of how many books either of the CBN governors read or what their prior experiences where, I have seen an esu su/aro/a jo moderator/governor with little or no education do a better job than either of them.
Travel / Re: Refusal Of UK Study Visa by Jesimiel(m): 5:18pm On Nov 11, 2006
I'm in with Jammin on this, after obtaining the UK university certificate nko what next, you join the endless line of Nigerians looking for work somewhere anywhere just to earn a fat salary at the end of the day after paying such a huge amount to the purse of the British government.

Why can't we just tell our politians that we don't want free unversity education again and we start paying tution just as it is being done in the UK which consequently will remove government involvement meaning no more reasons to strike and quanlity education that would hold it's own international. That way we would call the bluff of the UK high commissions. Just imagine how much they make from people prespecting for visas on a daily basis, damn they must be one of the highest revenue generating organ of the British economy at the expense of poor Nigerian, very painful
Politics / Re: Who Is Really The Giant Of Africa? by Jesimiel(m): 8:47pm On Sep 04, 2006
alheri, I almost totally agree with you, but would like to defer on the area of telecommunications, whether you like it or not, Nigeria is indeed the giant of Africa even in telecommunications.
Our problem is simply our greed with money, may telecoms services are never deploy because they do not produce immediate returns on investment, wherein such services would have seen being deployed in places like SA by Nigerian engineers, because that sector like many other sector there is fully controlled by the government unlike what you have here. So because you use some telecommunication services in SA or other places in Africa and such does not exist here does not mean "we" don know about it or we can not deploy it if we want to, it is just a Nigerian thing(our character) to first see money at the base of a pool before taking a dive, wink

Besides not forgetting that all we are doing here is translation not Religious studies.

.....cos there is no way we would discuss the topic in details without getting Religious about it, that was why I warned earlier that we should not get into details or else we would bore everybody.

Yes, Seun pls remove the topic
Islam for Muslims / Re: God and Allah: Are they the same? by Jesimiel(m): 4:20pm On Jul 15, 2005
grin it's just like the case of Nigerians calling 4x4 SUVs "Jeep" . Why can't someone just go to google and search for "Jeep" and see what drops down.

....offcos its' going to be Cherokee( a Brand name). cos "Jeep" is the name given to all their SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles). SUV is the universal class name and not "Jeep"
In the SUV class;

Jeep is to Cherokee just as Pathfinder/Xterra/Terrano is to Nissan
G/M wagons/Class is to Mercedes as Foreruuner/Cruiser is to Toyota

They all have there respective names, designs and performances, and simply not just one and the same

Imagine someone saying Toyota "504" , cos the person erroniously believes that every Salon (Sedan) are 504s, just as every SUV is a Jeep. Same with saying Bible God and Qu'ran Allah are the same. It is the context of significance that represents the definition not the assumption. Pls go thru the links below:

Some claim that "God is one and the same, only people call him by different names". Such a statement aims to reconcile all the religions of the world. It sounds safe and friendly; making nearly all religions acceptable so that people are lulled into a false sense of security.

This false concept becomes even more misleading when the same names for God are used, such as the Almighty, the Merciful, the Creator. It is tragic because the outward differences that demand investigation are brushed aside. The unenquiring mind is deceived and dulled by the use of the same titles, just as a buyer may be satisfied by labels and pictures without examining the contents.

Religion / Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Jesimiel(m): 3:33pm On Jul 15, 2005
Makgod..... I was responding to Seun's submissions on tithing and not discouraging people being a tither myself.
Seun from my point of view was trying to be logical about the issue and I was simply saying there is no logic about it(logically as well), it's either you are robbing God (by not paying your tithe) or not (by paying it)......
Really, with God there is nothing like democracy or the will of the people or the reasoning of man as supposed to how you feel about the commands of God, all that is expected of you is to JUST OBEY

Delarontus, you can differ all you want but it is true and you are so, so, so very wrong. Only that this would not be the right forum, I would defined the reference, 'Allah' to you. Remember the quran forbids that God be called by name thus the reference 'Allah' you would agree must have a meaning.

so?......if hot-angle has spoken unwisely then what shall we then say about your response? (no offence intended)

It takes believing in God, obeying and doing his commands that would get any man into heaven...the ultimate gain and not Pst. anybody so wake up my man and be wise.
Religion / Re: Is Africa Cursed Spiritually? by Jesimiel(m): 3:30pm On Jul 08, 2005
Africa is not cured neither Spiritually nor Morally. If you love to read like me, you would easily observe the methodology the Europeans used in order to sink that statement into our subcontious mind to justify the need for slaves. Remember that slavery was started by the missionaries before the capitalists took advantage. Really it is a long story ...but believe very deep down in your mind that it is not true.

We were all created in the image of God, and who can curse who the Lord has blessed. How would God allow a drunk to curse his elect, remember drunkiness is a sin before God, and we know that the eye of the Lord is too pure to behold sin, thus in his drunken state do you think God who have allowed or given attention to the curse?

not really Allah and God are not the same, God has a son, Jesus Christ, and Allah does not amongst the other differences.
Religion / Re: For Catholic Faithfuls by Jesimiel(m): 3:09pm On Jul 08, 2005
funny you would say...ca tholitism and tradition, what is tradition? I believe would be the most reasonable question to ask in the worship of God, who can not be faulted?

There are rules. God expects to be worship in a certain way,......they that worship the Lord, must worship in in truth and in Spirit..(emphasis Spirit in caps)

The second question is what does tradition(way of interraction) got to do with the Spiritual nature of man? noting that He(Spirit) is the third person of the trinity with a mind of His own.

I would just encourage that you all spent time and study the great resemblance between now Catholicism(Roman catholics) and the Babylonian religion, wherein a whole country by order of the Roman leader became Born again', 'christians' and 'catholics' in one day. The greatest revival in the history of Christianity you would say?

The funny thing was that the Leader before him had already declared the same people into the Babylonian worship now immediately after him another is declaring the same people into Christianity, jugding by the complex nature of man, all please try to imagine what would really really result from these declarations. Do you now have an idea why it is a bit cumbersum to try to separate 'Roman' Catholicism from Babylonian religion? ....yes all these is as a result of intermedling tradition with the worship of God.

Religion / Re: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by Jesimiel(m): 2:44pm On Jul 08, 2005
This is wrong. Neither Jesus nor the Apostles or other writers in the New Testament ever admonished people to pay tithes. But I think the modern church just wants to be in control of 10% of the country's economy! I mean, even the federal Government cannot boast of 10% of every Nigerian's income ...

...Seun na wa for you o! before Jesus the jewish were already so used to tithing that it was not an issue, what was an issue then was the character of sin as being displayed by the supposed tithers. What the scriptures says was that we sure bring a tenth of our increase into the store house of God...and in those days these were crops and livestock...so what would you expect they are supposed to be used for...eh? but this days we tithe money and you expect it to be used for the same purpose.

Really, with God there is nothing like democracy or the will of the people or the reasoning of man as supposed to how you feel about the commands of God, all that is expected of you is to JUST OBEY, if you then manage to get to Heaven you can then as God himself why so, so and so....
