At least two persons were feared killed
in Buguma town, headquarters of Asari
Toru local government area of Rivers
State when armed youths blew up a
public building .
Sources said the building in Kalabari
National College was set ablaze because
the gunmen , who entered the town on
Friday night, thought that sensitive
election materials were being kept
there.
A source said , “When we got to
Buguma , thick smoke was coming out
of the town. They said the boys entered
the community last night and they went
to where they thought election material
were being kept and blew it.
It was however gathered that the
security operatives have moved into the
town and restore sanity at the time of
this report.
Reports from Ahoada East and Ogba /
Ndoni /Egbema LGAs also indicated that
scores of persons were injured when
gunmen invaded polling units and
carted away election materials

There was confusion in Okpara Inland,
Ethiope East LGA as official of agents of the
LP and APC accused INEC official of conniving
with the PDP to rig the election.
Trouble broke when aggrieved parties’ agents
blocked the entrance to the collation centre in
Okpara Ward, insisting that the INEC
Supervisor, Mr. John Timi must produce result
sheets before commencement of the exercise.
They said all materials got to the Ward 4
centre and wondered why result sheets were
‘missing.’
Timi, who was contacted by our reporter,
declined to comment, but Hon Sylvester
Avworo and Willie Telegraph of LP and APC
insisted that there was foul play. But there
counterpart in PDP said the opposition agents
were troublemakers.

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship
candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom
Emmanuel, refused to grant newsmen
interview on Saturday after his accreditation
at Awa-Iman Ward 1, Unit 2 at Onna Local
Government Area.
“I cannot talk because PUNCH hates PDP,” he
said.
Having said, he quickly walked away in the
midst of heavily armed security operatives.
In Onna LGA, voters are seen to be roaming
about without getting accreditation as
electoral materials have been hijacked.
Electoral materials were being carted away in
Akwa Ibom Transport Company buses labelled
UDOM EMMANUEL.
Emmanuel came with over 100 of security
operatives to his polling unit.
A visit to the house of the Chairman of the
local government area, Mr. Ufot Sunday, also
revealed that ballot boxes were being taken
to his home in Onna.
Voters alleged that electoral materials were
being thumb printed in the Chairman’s
home.
Security operatives also barricaded the streets
leading to the LGA chairman’s home,
preventing movement in the area.
