Politics › Tinubu: I Chose Kano To Prove That Yoruba And Fulani Are One by JEWELofHELL(op): 5:31pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Monday gave the reason he chose Kano as the venue for his 12th colloquium and 69th birthday.
He said that he picked Kano to prove that Yoruba and Fulani are one.
Making reference to the marriage of the daughter of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, to the son of the late ex-Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, which took place in Kano in 2018, he asked: “Why are we in Kano?
“It is to demonstrate to Nigerians at this critical time. It is because there is a Fulani man, a herder man who gave his daughter to a farmer, Yoruba man. And that Fulani, that Yoruba (sic), and some people are agitating wrongly.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/03/colloquium-why-i-chose-kano-tinubu/

Politics › Soldiers Kill Boko Haram Fighters While Planting IEDs Near Sambisa Forest by JEWELofHELL(op): 3:56pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
https://i1.wp.com/dailynigerian.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/IMG_20210329_102633.jpgNigerian troops under Sector 1 Operation LAFIYA DOLE have eliminated seven Boko Haram terrorists along Njimia Alafa, near Sambisa Forest, Borno State.
The Commanding Officer of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, Bama, Waidi Shayibu, led the operation.
According to a report by the PRNigeria, the insurgents were eliminated while planting several Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, along the route of military clearance operations.
An intelligence officer involved in the operation told the newspaper that only few terrorists escaped with gunshot injuries.
He said: “In a current tradition of well-coordinated joint air and ground operation, the troops had received actionable intelligence and activities of the terrorists on some of the routes.
“When the last signal was received, our troops laid ambush on the terrorists along the routes after sighting them and neutralised them.
“We have recovered seven bodies of the terrorists, their AK 47 rifles, Anti-Aircraft gun and motorcycles.
“Some of the suspected IEDs found on the road were destroyed by the Army’s Bomb Disposal Units.”
Meanwhile, during his recent visit to Sambisa Forest, the Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, Adelokun Eyitayo, had advised the troops to be watchful and extra vigilant against insurgents ambushes.
Mr Eyitayo also urged the troops to remain very aggressive in all operations, while appreciating their doggedness and sacrifices for a safer nation.
“I know by the grace of God and by your commitment, we will succeed in this battle. I, therefore, urge you to do something before something do you. Don’t give the enemies the chance at all,” he concluded. https://dailynigerian.com/nigerian-troops-kill-boko-2/ |

Bad weather has disrupted the 69th birthday and 12th colloquium of All Progressives Congress leader, Bola Tinubu, billed to take place in Kano State, forcing many dignitaries who were billed to travel by air to stay back.
According to a report by The Punch, the event, which was expected to begin at 12pm was shifted to 12.30pm due to the absence of several VIPs. https://dailynigerian.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/stranded-in-Abuja.jpgGovernors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Oyetola, Kayode Fayemi, Dapo Abiodun, had arrived the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja before the weather turned unfriendly. Some of those affected include Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
Others are the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; and the Minister of the Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.
Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Oyetola, Kayode Fayemi, Dapo Abiodun, had also arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja before the weather turned unfriendly.
Other dignitaries who also could not fly to Kano include Senators Kashim Shettima, Yayi Adeola, Tokunbo Abiru, and Opeyemi Bamidele.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the dignitaries are now joining the Colloquium from the Airport, via Zoom.
It was however learned that about 60 members of the House of Representatives led by Majority Leader, Ado Mr Doguwa, are physically attending the event.
Meanwhile, Mr Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, said his principal would monitor the event virtually alongside President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a tweet on Monday, Mr Akdande said: “VP Osinbajo spending the day celebrating Asiwaju on his 69th birthday was on course to Kano this morning until weather conditions aborted travel plans. Politics › Biafra: Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River Indigenes Reject Biafra by JEWELofHELL(op): 9:06am On Mar 29, 2021 |
https://leadership.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/b187de1a-biafra_ipob.jpgAborigines in the coastal areas of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River (BRAC) have rejected its inclusion in the proposed map of Biafra.
BRAC said it will not allow its identity to be tempered with adding that their area which is giving the country over seventy per cent revenue has been neglected.
The group gave 90 days ultimatum to Biafran agitators to expunge their areas from their proposed map.
Speaking during a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, the national coordinator of BRAC, Doris McDaniels said they are for one Nigeria adding that they will resort to any means to seek for justice after the expiration of the 90 days ultimatum.
“Let me state categorically here that while BRAC does not intend to be seceded from the South-South region, member states have not been achieving much under the umbrella of the Niger Delta region. There is no collective agenda to rely on, to map out present and future development of our people and the coastal region,”she said.
McDaniels explained that even though they lack numerical number, this shouldn’t deter them from insisting on holding political and economic leadership positions in Nigeria, noting that the coastal region is the richest area in Sub-Saharan Africa and produces 72% of the oil and gas in Nigeria, apart from numerous natural resources that are yet to be tapped within the coast.
It is on this note that McDaniels said no region should lay claim to sharing borderline with the Bight of Biafra except the BRAC coastal areas and that their peculiarity, identity and what they stand for should be respected.
She said, “We are not part of Biafra and will not be. We are independent. Biafra agitators should leave our areas alone”, McDaniels said when asked about the possibility of the area joining the Biafra struggle.’’ https://leadership.ng/bayelsa-rivers-akwa-ibom-cross-river-indigenes-reject-biafra/?amp=1 |
Travel › ‘Ogun Roads in Pitiable Condition’ – Residents Cry to Abiodun (Pictures) by JEWELofHELL(op): 8:51am On Mar 29, 2021 |
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/bad-road.jpegResidents of Ogun State have cried out to Governor Dapo Abiodun to fix the bad roads in their areas.
DAILY POST recalls that the people of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government had during the last year EndSARS protest thronged the street to decry the poor conditions of roads in their communities.
In the same vein, their neighbours in Ifo Local Government have continued to call the attention of Gov Abiodun to the poor state of roads in Akute, Alagbole, Agbado, Denro, Isashi, Ojodu Abiodun and others.
It is almost two years into the administration of Gov Abiodun and the people are becoming impatient as they remember the promises made to them by the Governor during his electioneering campaign.
To them, they are yet to see any appreciable intervention in their areas as far as the roads are concerned.
Residents of Atan-Lusada-Agbara said they have been forgotten in spite the fact that the corridor has the road connecting the Agbara industrial estate.
As the rains are here, Ogun residents are getting worried over the difficulties they experience plying the roads, calling on Abiodun to do the needful.
DAILY POST correspondent observed that Abiodun, in the past weekends, have been on the streets to inspect some of the roads under construction, while giving updates on his social media handles.
On March 10, Abiodun informed the people of Ogun that the Owode end of the Owode-Ilaro Road will be asphalted within the week, and engineers will promptly move to the Ilaro end to continue work thereafter. https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/FB_IMG_1616917776255.jpgA day after, he disclosed that steady progress was being made on the Panseke-Adigbe Road project, adding that the contractor has paved asphalt from Panseke to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School.
Also, Abiodun boasted about the Elite road in Abeokuta, saying “Our Administration is a season of project completion in Ogun State, as the expanded 2.5km Elite-Oke Lantoro joins the current set of roads ready for asphalting.”
On March 17, the governor said “We will be delivering as brand new, the 8km Atan-Erunwon Road in Ijebu Northeast LGA, where asphalt paving is ongoing. This is part of our Administration’s mass reform in road infrastructure.”
Last weekend, Abiodun inspected the Ijebu Ode-Epe Expressway project, saying “I am happy to announce that the road will be ready within the year.”
He also inspected the Ejinrin road, where it was mentioned that the asphalt paving is nearly completed. He stated that the 7.65km road is an inherited project that this administration resolved to take over and complete for its projected impact in movement of goods and persons, as well as joint economic growth.
Yesterday, the governor was in Abeokuta to have an on-the-spot assessment of the progress of work done on the Lafenwa-Rounda-Ayetoro road connecting Ogun Central and Ogun West.
He said, “The project was inherited from the immediate past administration, but as government is a continuum, we have refinanced it because the people, results of their taxes, and their welfare matter more than petty politics.
“Completion of the project will aid commerce for residents and road users in transit between the two senatorial districts, while aiding infrastructural development for the State.”
But, many Ogun residents seemed not convinced with the works done so far on Ogun roads, as they shared pictures of the conditions of roads in their localities.
See some comments:
Oluwabusola Olutayo Akinsanya: “Mr Governor, you need to go round and visit all road constructions. Work is too slow. I was at Gaa Sabo Abeokuta few days ago. Pls Sir, check this area yourself. God will give you strength to inspect these projects yourself.”
Daniel Igbinedion: “Also, come and check the extent of dilapidation of Atan Agbara road, if it is not a big shame to your government. This is were you have the highest number of industries in Nigeria. You are waiting for fed gov?”
Lawal Adegboyega Ezekiel: “We need your presence in other parts of the state sir. Ado Odo Ota, Lafenwa/Itele Ota needs your attention immediately. All our roads are bad. Neglected axis!”
Sim Ple: “Stupid people everywhere, is that a project? Don’t forget, our Social Media Governor, I am living around the (Lafenwa) area, you did nothing sir. Stop this and respect God.”
Olaosebikan Eniseyin: “Mr Gov, Ibadan Abeokuta express way is long overdue sir. Starting holdup from Adatan to Osiele is very very ridiculous. Please kindly look into this sir.”
Samuel Ayodele: “Before I give kudos to the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his team, they need to come and work on Abule Iroko-Itoki-Agbado and many . If your ballot box can get to every nooks and crannies of the above-mentioned areas during election, they should also be available for the development of the areas. Thanks.”
Lange Jimoh Popoola: “When you are deceiving voters, nobody knows; but when the voters retaliate, the world will know. A road only constructed for one man vote (Bola Ajibola), but you’ll lose thousands of communities votes. Ogun people are wiser more than this tactics, Amosun has opened our eyes.”
Abiodun Adegoke: “You are doing great my Governor, you deserve to be reelected for a second term. We ogun state indigene far and wide are behind you like Olumo rock. God bless you and your beautiful family.”
Prince Olalekan Babalola: “Why is the Governor embarrassing himself? Please always get facts before you come to yhe social media to give false info. The contractor have left (Lafenwa-Ayetoro) site couples of weeks ago and only about 3km was asphalted.”
Tosin Olaleye: “It’s because you were coming, that’s why they moved back to site this morning. How many meters of asphalt have they laid?”
Lxrd Charm: “Be deceiving yourself. You’re not doing anything.. Nah ur fellow mumu dey fall for this.”
Yusuph Sunkanmi: “Keep the good work going sir. Pls sir, Agbara to Atan, Atan to Ado-odo and Ado-odo to Ikoga need your urgent attention. The road network linking to those areas is in bad shape. Promise upon promise from previous administration which they never fulfill.”
Abiodun Olawuwo: “Yeye dey smell. Ifo and Ado-Odo Ota are not on his list of attention. Shioor!”
Engr Gadeyemi: “Baba, stop showing us these already good structures. See attached picture of Sango Ota bridge in Joju area. This is where you need to work.. Do this alone and your accreditation is gonna come from most high.”
Kunle Sodunke: “Please sir, Alagbole, Ajuwon and Akute roads need your attention.”
Efe Sojay: “Let’s say the truth, 90% of the roads are still very bad. Look at Giwa, Okearo, Ajuwon, Akute, still very bad. Please oga, do something!”
Adenubi Michael: “Ijebu Isiwo road is begging for your attention, Your Excellency.”
Alfa Akasholoriro Ridwan: “Dapo Abiodun, you have never posted bad roads since. Why! I know you’re posting all these because of 2023 election. But I believe Ogun State is among the top three states with the most number of bad roads in Yoruba land. Ado-Odo/Ota has the worst roads in Ogun State. You generate money in Ado-Odo/Ota, but you do nothing about roads. Why?”
Alonigbeja Haphiz: “Sir, we don’t have good roads in Ogijo.”
Ajayi Akeem: “Ijebu, Ijebu and Egba (small), Yewa Awori, nothing, most especially Ado-Odo/Ota. Carbon copy of SIA.”
Iyabosola Babajide: “Oke Owa, Imushin, Ago Iwoye, Ilishan and so many like that need attention.”
Campbell Charles Folarin: “I am really disappointed in this present administration, if the truth must be said. There are worse roads begging for repairs. Sango roads, Ijoko, Abule Iroko roads are worse, yet your government is here showing pictures. For me u have under performed as a governor.”
Adesoji Adeniran: “Mr Governor, when will it be the turn of the people of Akute, Ajuwon, Alagbole, Lambe, Agbado and environs?”
Adebomi Temitope: “Sir, you need to be futuristic in planning, this Epe road is supposed to be a full carriage way, the same standard with Lagos Ibadan Express way, considering the importance of the road giving accessibility to the refinery, Lekki deep sea port and other industries emerging at that axis.”
Oyaleke Gbenga: “Dear Governor, well done! What did we people of Ado Odo Otta did to offend you? Sango, Oju Oore, Oju Oore-Ilogbo road, Sango-Ijoko road to Oke Aro? Did we not vote for you? Ah! God is watching us from a distance!”
Adedeji Ade: “Na social media Ogun State dey roll! Sango/Agbado/Akute, Alagbole /Berger roads have been abandoned and forgotten! God knows when any governor will come to complete this project.”
DAILY POST reports that Abiodun had told the people of Ado-Odo/Ota in October that “it is impossible for our State Government to reconstruct any Federal Road without necessary approvals from the Federal Government, yet we have carried out palliative works and will do more permanent works on these and other roads.”
The Governor mentioned that he and Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State had repeatedly appealed to the Federal Government to cede some of the roads to them, stressing that a positive response was still being awaited. https://dailypost.ng/2021/03/29/ogun-roads-in-pitiable-condition-residents-cry-to-gov-abiodun/

Politics › Nigerian Troops Kill 48 Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno, Rescue Victims (VIDEO) by JEWELofHELL(op): 9:27am On Mar 28, 2021 |
The Nigerian Army troops of 28 Task Force Brigade in Chibok and Askira, have killed about 48 Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 11 abducted victims in latest onslaught in Borno.
The spokesman for the Nigerian Army, Mohammed Yerima, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
Mr Yerima, a brigadier-general, said that troops achieved the feat while acting on credible intelligence that some remnants of insurgents were fleeing due to the intensity of troops’ operations in Sambisa Forest.
He said the troops laid ambush for the terrorists on Chibok-Damboa axis, killing nine while several others escaped with fatal gunshot wounds in one encounter.
Mr Yerima said that the troops also recovered seven AK47 rifles and freed three kidnapped victims.
He said that troops of 28 Task Force Brigade located in Askira also laid a successful ambush along Askira-Chibok Main Supply Route and killed 39 terrorists in another encounter.
The army spokesperson also disclosed that the troops successfully rescued eight kidnapped victims from the terrorists in the course of the encounter.
“Unfortunately however, one of the kidnapped victims sustained injury to his leg while in the hands of his abductors.
“He has since been conveyed to a military medical facility for immediate treatment,” he said.
Mr Yerima added that troops recovered another eight AK47 rifles with four magazines, among other items.
According to him, the gallant troops are presently dominating the area with aggressive patrols and are equally on a trail of fleeing terrorists to locate and neutralise them.
“The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru appreciated the gallantry and dexterity of the troops.
“He urged them to remain dogged and maintain their offensive posture in all operations until the area is rid of all remnants of terrorists.
“He equally appreciated members of the public for their continuous support to the troops and enjoined them to continue to provide credible information to the troops and other security agencies operating within their localities,” he added.

Politics › 2023 Presidency: There’s Political Gang Up Against Igbos – Ohanaeze Chieftain by JEWELofHELL(op): 2:42pm On Mar 26, 2021 |
Chuks Ibegbu, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Friday accused Nigerian political elites of ganging up against the Southeast.
Ibegbu made the remark while insisting that the Igbos have not been fairly accommodated within the Nigeria’s political sphere.
Speaking with DAILY POST, Ibegbu called on all political parties to address the matter in 2023 by zoning their presidential candidates to the Southeast.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo chieftain described Igbos as hard-working and patriotic people who should rule Nigeria in 2023.
He said: “Under normal circumstances, wherever a president hails from does not matter; what should matter is performance and who will deliver the dividends of democracy. But in a pluralistic and diverse society like ours, every section of the country must have a feeling of political belonging.
“There must be fairness in the distribution of political powers, and because of the nature of our society which is an evolving one, every sector should have a sense of belonging.
“The North has dominated power for more than forty years, either military or civilian. The West also has had its fair share either as military or civilian, and recently the South-south too (Jonathan).
“Nigeria was built on a tripod, North, West and East. A significant bloc of that tripod is the Igbos, and they have not been given political fairness; they have not been politically accommodated. That does not mean they have not been participating in political activities in Nigeria. There seems to be a political gang-up against the Igbos and the irony is that Nigeria is suffering from it.
“Igbos are a very patriotic set of people and very conscious of developments, so why won’t all the political parties Zone their presidential candidates to the Southeast.
“In the first republic, there was a kind of zoning; that was why Abubakar Tafa-Balewa became the Prime Minister while Zik from the South became a ceremonial president. In the Second Republic, Shagari was from the North, and Alex Ekwueme was from the Southeast. When Yar’ Adua was President from the North, Jonathan was from the South. So zoning has been a feature of our political stability, so there is nothing wrong in zoning due to our society’s nature.
“Zoning is necessary until such a time when we are mature enough not to care where the president comes from, either from Daura or Ogbomosho, so long as food is on my table, but we have not reached that stage yet. So, that is why it is very apt that all political parties zone their presidential candidacy to the Southeast and the Igbos. Eight years is not too much; let the power go round. After that, we can now sit down and say where the president comes from does not matter.” https://dailypost.ng/2021/03/26/2023-presidency-theres-political-gang-up-against-igbos-ohanaeze-chieftain/

Politics › Court Has Shamed PDP, Vindicated Akpabio Over Prof. Ogban 3-year Jail – APC by JEWELofHELL(op): 1:23pm On Mar 26, 2021 |
Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Yekini Nabena, has said that the Court has finally vindicated the Minister of Niger Delta, Sen. Godswill Akpabio and the ruling party having handed a three years jailed term to Prof. Peter Ogban, a professor of Sooil Science at the University of Calabar, used to manipulate the result of Akwa-Ibom North-west senatorial election against APC.
Ogban, who was the returning officer in the senatorial election in Akwa Ibom north-west in 2019, was also fined N100,000 fine.
The UNICAL Professor was prosecuted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Reacting to the development through a statement released Friday in Abuja, Nabena said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) elements who made use of the UNICAL Proffessor to rig out the APC’s candidate at the said election should now berry their heads in shame.
According to Nabena, the senatorial election was fraudulently postponed by the returning officer against the wish of the APC and its candidate and all the complains made by Senator Akpabio and the APC were not given attention.
Nabena said it is on record that during the election the minister asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to redeploy the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Akwa Ibom state then when he (Akpabio) noticed that the PDP were using some officials of the electoral empire against him.
The APC chieftain, however condemned the manipulative strategy being employed by the PDP and its agents, particularly in Akwa Ibom state to discredit the APC and Sen. Akpabio as a result of the Court’s Pronouncement.
The statement called on Nigerians to disregard the attempt by the PDP and its sponsored agents to misinform the general public on the real issue, the interpretation of the Court judgment and the integrity challenge bothering on the PDP.
“We celebrate the Court’s pronouncement jailing one of the agents of the PDP used against our candidate (Akpabio) in the senatorial election in Akwa Ibom north-west in 2019.
“We always believe that ‘if a lie goes for twenty years the truth will meet it one day’. This judgement is significant in the sense that others like Prof. Ogban in the system should henceforth know that under the present Federal Government-APC’s administration, justice will always prevail.” https://www.blueprint.ng/court-has-shamed-pdp-vindicated-akpabio-over-prof-ogban-3-year-jail-apc/

Politics › El-Rufai: Kaduna To Stop Relying On Federal Allocation Soon by JEWELofHELL(op): 5:21pm On Mar 25, 2021 |
Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, says that the state plans to stop relying on federal allocation in the next four years.
El-Rufai disclosed this on Thursday in Kaduna in an interview with newsmen shortly after declaring open the 147th meeting of the Joint Tax Board.
He said that the state has been boosting its tax collections and channeling the funds to infrastructure, education, and health care.
The governor disclosed that the state Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) rose to N50.9 billion in 2020.
According to him, the state remains focused on improving tax collection to reflect its vision.
“In our last budget, 60 per cent of our budget came from federal account and 40 per cent from IGR.
“But the way we are going, with very hard-working internal revenue service team, in the next four to five years we will get to a point where we will only go to federation account only out of courtesy not because we need the money.
“We are focused on running the government and doing development projects entirely from tax collection. We don’t want to depend on the federation account, That’s our goal.”
El-Rufai explained that his administration is committed to showing the people that the payment of tax is not a burden, but a contribution to development
“And when you contribute, you will see the development, you will see the result.
“This result you will see through free education, 12 years of free education not nine years like other states.
“In Kaduna, it is not just basic education, but free education for junior secondary school and senior secondary and primary which is all financed from taxes.
“We provide primary health care free to children under the age of five and to all pregnant women, and all senior citizens above the age of 70 get free health care, all from taxation.”
According to him, the government is also expanding infrastructure, including expansion of water supply and investment in electrification all from tax collection.
“Our motto is Tax for Service; we want you to pay tax and ask us what we do with the tax money and we can show you what we have done.”
El-Rufai noted that many people in the state are beginning to voluntarily pay tax for the first time in more than 20 years.
