`I was once a governor of this state; you have changed the Governor‘s Office completely; you have changed the state, particularly Ibadan city. You have done a lot of work to improve on what we did when we were here; you have constructed many roads and bridges; you have done well and we are very proud of you,’’ -Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo (Rtd.). Former Governor of the defunct Western Region, Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo (Rtd.) has commended Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State for the unprecedented transformation he has brought to the state within a period of two years. He gave the commendation when he led members of the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan to the Governor’s Office on a courtesy call. The former governor, who is also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, said that Governor Ajimobi had greatly improved on the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the state. ``I was once a governor of this state; you have changed the Governor‘s Office completely; you have changed the state, particularly Ibadan city. You have done a lot of work to improve on what we did when we were here; you have constructed many roads and bridges; you have done well and we are very proud of you,’’ the retired general remarked. While also lauding the achievements of the governor in the area of education, he particularly acknowledged the support which the nation’s premier university had received from the Ajimobi administration. The former military governor called for the continued support of the state government to enable the institution produce more well-grounded products at both the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. In his response, Governor Ajimobi assured of his administration’s readiness to support the university to maintain its leadership position in the country. The governor, while commending the leadership quality of Gen. Adebayo, said he (Adebayo) had contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of the states in the South-West geo-political zone. http:///AocVXn3Wg6

BEFORE now, it had been hectic for indigenes and residents of Oke-Ogun, the northern area of Oyo State, to have easy access to their homeland as a result of the bad state of the road which links them to Ibadan and Oyo towns. With the current on-going reconstruction to give way for a wider and smooth dualised road, however, the problem is heading into the can of history. When Senator Abiola Ajimobi became the governor of Oyo State, his promise of urban-rural integration drive, was not to leave out the region in the scheme of things. On November 2012, his administration approved the dualisation of Oyo/Ibadan/Iseyin 6.53km road at the cost of N6,092,448,322.40k, and is expected to be completed by May 2014. Apart from being the first road slated for dualisation in the region, the same road, constructed over 65 years ago, precisely in 1948, according to sources, had been in that terrible condition for more than 25 years, consistently slowing down movement to and from the region. Though, the construction brought about temporary setback to the indigenes and residents of Iseyin, the long term benefit would override the current challenges, as the road had refused several temporary solutions by successive state governments’ administrations and local governments’, according to the caretaker chairman of Iseyin Local Government, Honourable Saheed Adejare Yusuf. The Principal Resident Engineer of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Mr Olayiwola Rasaq, said the former road was too narrow for its earlier function of connecting the entire Oke-Ogun community with other parts of the state. He said because of “the narrow path of the road, the compensation will gulp the state government around N200 million. The officers are currently taking the enumeration now after which the verification exercise of the rightful owners of the affected houses will be carried out. The government had promised not to allow this process to mar the benefit of the road, so everything about the compensation is taken as seriously as the project itself,” Olayiwola said. He added that the road, which is 26.3m wide with standard drainage system, when completed, would be a model for other roads. Olayiwola said the quality of the road in maintenance was tested in the ministry’s laboratory and that it would stand the test of time for the next 20 years upon completion. This development could, however, be a source of good news to the road users while others would be hanging around to confirm the durability or otherwise of the project when completed. The construction firm – Adold Engineering Development Company’s project manager, Bradley Viglino, an Italian, promised that the company would meet up with the scheduled delivery time. Viglino said this development was not unconnected with the support the construction workers had been receiving from the people of the area. He said “the people have been helpful and are even ready to participate in whatever we’re doing.” Viglino’s observation is a counter to the rumour that the people of Iseyin were protesting the demolition of their houses thereby, causing ‘unnecessary delay for the project’. The Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdul Ganiyu Adekunle Salau Ajinase Ologunebi I, during a thank you visit to Senator Ajimobi for the dualisation of the road, said that the road project coupled with various other projects that his government had instituted in Iseyin, had changed the face of the town. He added that the on-going road project had been a dream of all Iseyin indigenes for ages, saying “seeing this mission accomplished, no Iseyin indigene is complaining, instead, we’re grateful for this honour done us.” While speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, Oba Abdul Ganiyu Adekunle Salau Ajinase further added that, “We’re happy seeing a government that is considering us in its plan. We have no cause to protest, and I can assure Governor Ajimobi that all the people of Iseyin are happy with the road project without any cause to protest.” But like Oliver Twist, the Aseyin, while appreciating the efforts of the governor said, all Iseyin sons and daughters were looking forward to the time when the governor would stretch his magic wand to the Ikere dam, also in Iseyin, which is in need of renovation. Also speaking, the caretaker chairman, Iseyin Local Government, Honourable Saheed Adejare Yusuf, said the road which had been neglected for years, no doubt would change the face of Iseyin for good. He noted that, “this is a welcome and wonderful development. The road has been a subject of neglect for years and when completed, I am very optimistic that it will change the face of Iseyin because for the first time, a standard dualised road is coming up in the town.” When asked about his subjects’ reaction to the demolition exercise which had been politicised, Yusuf said “I made my people to realise that no development takes place without a sacrifice, especially with this one we’re about to experience now. I then made it clear to them that compensation awaits victims, more so, that the compensation plan was part of the project and not an afterthought at all. And believe me, they all agreed in unison, so there wasn’t any form of protest as being speculated.” Nigerian Tribune spoke with some of the direct users of the road, especially now that the construction process had been hindering the smooth operation of their day-to-day business activities. Mutairu Akolade, the vice-chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Iseyin branch, in his view believed that the project would save his members the agony of incessant repair of their automobiles. He noted that motorists spent fortunes on repair, hoping that that would change as soon as the project was completed. Also, the Iyaloja, Bola Ige Shopping Complex, Iseyin, Chief (Mrs) Tawa Oladoyin, said the traders were looking forward to the completion of the road project, saying, the motorists’ charge on their wares was overwhelming. That situation, Mrs Oladoyin said, forced them to increase their prices. The National President, Iseyin Development Union, Colonel Fatai Shittu (retd), thanked the governor for removing the stigma of ‘abandoned project’, which had been on Iseyin road for years. He said the current administration’s various projects under construction in the town had given the town a desirable facelift. Source: http:///Prt9EsBx1b

docjuli: That's exactly their points. This present administration as you clearly mentioned has his name everywhere.Nicca pass d mic...akala oYato was errwhr too, same as idere de of ladoja...no be really care about dat jarE, is there no tranSformation agenda errwhr @ FG level |
Honey74: what is dis 'copy copy' that dese governors r doing? Can't he come up with an idea on his own? must he do because someone else has done. *looooooooonnnnnngggggg hiiiiissssssssssssssssssssss*Oh! Common pls, how can u be sure when Oyo started planning, how can u complain dat they are even emulating what is accepted by majority as a good initiative...so are u sayin cos osun came out first with it oyo cannot build on dat and even surpass...Hissssss* back to ur contribution as it lacks merit and displays low I.Q |
Dudu_Negro: If you notice, i repeatedly mentioned DAWN. This is because the governors themselves voluntarily sponsored that platform as a regional front going forward. I am only being patriotic by demanding that they deliver on what was promised. It is a good interface for learning and there's no need to give it six brand names in each of the six governing states in DAWN partnership. The agenda is there for guidance, why deviate from it because Nigerian constitutiin says you can.Well, goodluck with ur DAWN vision. Like I stated. Earlier let there be an enact law in d states dat covers d naming uniformity of their ideas, let dem be band by something dat can't be broken...eg Odua. Group is jointly own irrespective of d govt of d odua states...if laws are not apply forget anything uniform |
jejet: @Gbawe,Um, bruv its either u aint reading or u aint understanding...Ajumose wa is oyo state political slogan, av no effect on us as citizens, akala had oyato, ladoja had idera de, when he was impeached it went down with him, he came back to campaign with dat again in 2011...ajimobi has always said is govt wud be a collective one, so stop sayin what is not, its not is name, ajimobi is pronounced in a funny way sef, smfin lik (waking up to know where evil is) ow is dat related to "our collective task"(ajumose wa) |
speedyboi: Made by an 'asian company', when Zinox is there. Mtchw......Am guessing ur phone is made in nigeria (zinox),maybe ur computer sha, u prolly hav all ur materials and needs made in nigeria! Mtcheeeewwwwww...nobody is interested if u are impress or not! FULLSTOP |
Dudu_Negro: ......the DAWN vision was to create a Common Front Enterprise for all governing lands under the Yoruba commonwealth. Part of their objective was that a child relocating from one state can resettle in another with a seamless transfer and resumption of his/her education because all the interfaces of classroom studies and instruction will be uniform. All I kno is we are in a federal republic where 36states make up d federation, why on earth will u insist states must be uniformed? Ofcos there will be a guildline, a format to follow...dats why it 6-3_3-4 format of education nationwide, that's y certain number of textbooks are recommended, that's y syllabus are given out. Now osun came out with "opon imo" for her STUDENTS, they designed it d way dey felt best suits dem nd there kids, why must oyo do dat? Is it a must? I say NO, I disagree with d idea dat dey most be uniformed. Laws of d 2 states differs, yes same party, good ideas but telln me oyo have to call it opon imo too is out of it. This is not a regional govt, it is 2 individual states wit a Govt dat can change in terms of policy, work rate nd continuity anytime...remember PDP's akala nd oyin agreed to split lautech, ACN's ajimobi nd aragbe have reversed dat...so if it were a joint project den there will b a law enforcing dat it does not break! ThankS |
Ricardo Mannetti is the man that has taken over the reins of the Brave Warriors of Namibia after the abrupt departure of former coach, Roger Palmgren on Sunday. “First of all, it is pride you play for, secondly you play for the national team jersey,” Mannetti told his players as reported on the Namibia Football Association website. Mannetti held his first training session with the team on Monday and urged them to give their best against the African champions. “The situation remains the same. We are playing Nigeria and the players are aware of that. I played for this team before and I know what is at stake and have spoken to the players as well. He also spoke on Palmgren’s exit saying it is what happens in coaching all the time. “Coaches come and go but the national team remains and the players are committed to running out there (on Wednesday night) and perform to the best of their abilities. “We need the support, all of it from the nation as we go into this crucial game. The only thing that has changed is Roger (Palmgren) leaving, but the situation remains, we have to win this game and for that we need all the support we can get”. The Warriors need to win their last two games to stand any chance of topping the group and qualifying for the last round of qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup. They are currently third on the log with four points from four matches.

Afam4eva: Btw, what does "Ajumo Mo" mean? is it only me that thinks it sounds like Ajumobi? I just hope this guy didn't name the device after himself.First his name is Ajimobi and not ajumobi...oyo state political slogan for dz administration is "Ajumose gbogbo wa" meaning it is our collective responsibility..."Ajumo mo" stated here mearly means its "collective understanding" more we should all be in the known zone, get informed...anyways this is a good idea, something to be happy about esp d students that will benefit directly... |

The Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Sunday said it had successfully clamped the ruptured point along the Mosimi–Ibadan line and resumed fuel supply operation to Ibadan and its environs. The repairs came less than 24 hours after men suspected to be oil thieves ruptured the Mosimi–Ibadan fuel supply pipeline along the crucial System 2B Pipeline network, which erupted into an inferno weekend. The Acting Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Ms. Tumini Green, in a statement said a team of engineers and technologists from the NNPC and its downstream subsidiary, the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company, PPMC, worked assiduously over the weekend to restore the line to normal operation. The NNPC spokesperson said the Corporation responded quickly because of its determination to ensure that Nigerians do not experience any form of scarcity in petroleum products supply on account of the activities of some unpatriotic citizens. “At exactly 20.06 hrs on Saturday, the Mosimi–Ibadan line was re-streamed after repair works at the ruptured point. While we remain committed to our resolve in ensuring unimpeded distribution of petroleum products across the country despite the mounting odds, we call on members of the public to support the NNPC and the security agencies in this fight against oil thieves and pipeline hackers,” the statement read in part. The NNPC called on Ibadan residents and the adjoining communities to refrain from panic buying or hoarding of petroleum products in anticipation of scarcity.
