Thank you Austin for the clarification....I have actually reapplied and this time I ensured that the amount i have is a little beat above LICO for a family of 4. Then with alot of home ties.
Good luck to everyone of us.

I really do not know why this 'LICO' thing is becoming a thing of worry.

Like i mentioned in my earlier post, LICO(Low income cut-off) is used for individuals who are working(on a work permit, A PR or a Canadian citizen) and seeking to sponsor a spouse, dependant(s), parent(s) or grand parent(s) to move to Canada. It is NOT applicable to a Study permit or the Spouse open work permit. The reason is simple, the student is NOT sponsoring but adding a spouse as a dependant to his/her study permit application to allow the spouse be in Canada during the duration of the study visa.

If you check the figures required for 'LICO', It is strictly for individuals who have full working rights in Canada. Students do not, its part time and in some cases, some are not even eligible to work both on or off campus depending on their circumstance. Also, those figures of 'LICO' must be earned in Canada.

@Jimmychuks2018, what you saw, written or interpreted on your GCMS file most likely is your income in Nigeria to compel your return after your wife's study duration. The officer weighed your ' income level' and was not satisfied that it is strong enough to compel you to return with your wife after her study and that is why it was raised. You are a dependant on your wife as a PA(student) and either you or her need to only show 4,000CAD for you and additional 3,000CAD for a minor as additional funds. You must also statisfy the officer that you would leave alongside your wife. Your ties(income, family, etc)must be strong enough because you are expected to return to them. This is the requirement of IRCC for a study permit holder(your wife) and an applicant of a SOWP(you).

'LICO' requirements are Strictly for SPONSORSHIP. The sponsor must earn the minimum income in Canada to be able to sponsor. Your wife is NOT sponsoring you but adding you to her study conditions even though the SOWP allows the holder to work without time and employers restrictions.

It's in my email, I have even tried to copy and paste it here last month when I was seeking for solution to my problem. The two notes has my name all over Bro moreover bringing that issue up again would mount unnecessary pressure on me because I have already reapplied. So I would prefer to wait till I get a decision on my app then I would share the note here. This is for those applying for SOWP """"""They consider LICO now""""""take it or you leave it. Thank you.

quote author=jnyuwa02 post=67149831]

Just scan and paste the pertinent page that cites LICO. I am sure that page doesn’t contain your personal info.

I was denied SOWP based on lico cut off..I really do not know how to paste the note without pasting my vital informations. If you check my profile, you would see where I hightlighted the main points on my gcms note.
Thank you.

quote author=jnyuwa02 post=67144081]

The one I saw was not approved for the visa after he responded to the accusation. But they went on to remove the fraudulent charge and denied him on purpose of visit. So did you mean you were denied for a visiting visa and approved for SOWP? Or what denial are you talking about and care to post the Gcms notes here that substantiates your claim of LICO? Thanks!
. Guys Let's stop judging people that come here to seek for help. ITS NOT FAIR!!!!By the way am on spouse open work permit.

For those that are asking about Income cut off for a family visa. They actually use Lico to access SOWP. I saw this in my GCMS note. " The visa officer said he was refusing our application because our account was below lico for a family of 4.

uote author=Austinpee4 post=67140242]
Nobody is judging anybody and nobody will. Some responses and answers given are most times from what has happened in previous times or from a trend and understandably, it cannot be used to base a conclusion at all times.

However, It will interest you to note that a lot of folks only seek help when they have landed themselves into trouble. Rather than telling the full story, a lot would be hidden under the shelve. This thread has seen countless of situations regarding fraudulent or doctored document. The Canadian visa office especially that of Accra will likely not give a procedural fairness correspondence to an applicant if they have not found out something. It is something they have been doing for years now and from both this forum and outside this forum, it is usually true that these individuals engaged in unscrupulous acts as they test the meticulous nature of these officers. Funny enough, some just dive into their hands not knowing similar fraudulent document(s) have been seen in the embassy by these officers from time immemorial.

Also, do not be too affirmative that everybody that comes here to seek help do so with all sincerity, some just want a way out without letting the cat out of the bag. Nobody would own up to something fraudulent at the first instance. When things seems complicated, the truth lies within.
I just needed to point this considering that these things have happened and are not new here. My only advise to people is, if you truly need help, you must make the truth known. I have seen many cases where the embassy soft peddled in their decision on the consequences of a misrepresentation and this often is when the applicant inject element of the truth in the response. The hardly send a procedural fairness letter if they don't find something fishy. It's a waste of time on their part without a strong evidence. The process of a procedural fairness is mandated by their law and has rights for the

I stand with Junwa...Nobody would cook account and after the thing cast, the person won't have the liver to come here. The guy did not come back because you guys were already judging/ accusing him!!! If it's me I won't come back. Please you guys should stop judging and accusing people. If you can't answer someone's question better leave it for those that are willing to help. Or better still ignore.

mcobex:
Have you noticed the guy in question is yet to say anything concerning his case after posting? Questions were asked here if there's anything fraudulent in his account but he refused to answer, though someone tried answering on his behalf "that he withdrew the money after printing his soa(which to me should be insufficient funds and not fraud).
From what I have seen the guy's account was COOKED(until he proves me wrong). And yes, people knowingly use fake soa and when caught they come back on this forum to ask for help........ As usual, I tell them to carry their cross(since they knew what they were getting into from day one

If I were you, I will just tick yes and move on....the question is "Did you apply for visa? Yes or no? Were you given the visa? Yes or no! Then state that you actually applied for visa but unfortunately your application was returned without any reason. Shikina.best of luck to you.

Please guys after going for biometrics, how long does it take to be updated in the online timeline.

Hey man, sorry you didn't read my former post before jumping in your tips.

Im not afraid of telling them, if truly I was denied. That can't and won't affect my application. God's grace.

If South Africa VO is denying VISA, they state the reason for such in a separate sheet. In my case they didn't give any reason. Why would I say it's refusal when I have everything to proof myself.

Thanks, I got the tips earlier on here.

Thank you bro, God bless you for the insight.
quote author=Markab post=66549569]Hi Jimmy,

The gist is Nigerian applicants now have to fulfill LICO requirements before we can be granted visas for SOWP. I have been seeing refusals based on that since Last year and I think it has come to stay. Now, LICO is a must.

My advice: I have treated similar refusals in the past with just an increase in the available funds that is slightly above lico and approvals were gotten.

So please do same.

All the best.

Dear Markab please help respond to my question, refusal based on travel history and that we did not meet the lico for family of 4 which is 44,000$. how can we tackle that one.

Thank you in advance.

Markab:
Hi Tomiade, congrats on your approved trv. I think its wiser and smarter to apply after you are fully enrolled in school before submitting an application for your spouse. The probability of your spouse getting approved before your arrival is next to zero.

Also, I am sure if you try to read some 20 pages back, you would get to see documents submitted for SOWP.

Dear all Please, feel free to ask me questions about sowp, I am here to help. I also benefited from this thread greatly before landing in Canada on SOWP.

COME ON! LET'S KEEP THIS THREAD ALIVE cool

Congratulations dear..how did you guys solve the problem of travel history?
quote author=Anonymous0611 post=66509788]The following are the documents we submitted :
The filled forms
My statement of account (note I didn’t use bank account, I used Mutual funds cos that way they just gave me a letter to the embassy. Bank account will show when you move money in and if it’s not up to 6months, they won’t trust that it is your money)
My other assurance accounts
My husband’s statement of account
His student permit
His employment letter
Letter of Explanation (got the clue from here, you have to be very emotional while writing it)
Letter from my employer
My CV
Family pictures
Deed of gift( I got my dad to transfer a property to me because our 1st application indicated rejection due to no tie)
Document of our property
We have been rejected before and funds and no ties were the main issues.
We made them understand that we both have parents alive and I go home often so we can’t abandon home.
A lot of prayers o, that the VOC that will review our documents will be in good mood.
Got my gcms note..spouse open work permit..I have posted this on work permit tread as well.....please guys help

Apparently the vo is saying because of my occupation I can not work immidiately on arrival, that I have no western travel and my kids too have no western travel, that funds are modest, that we should note that the current low income cut off is 44,000$ for a family of 4 in Canada, and that flight ticket for 3 is 6000$ and that when you remove flight ticket from our 18000$ there would be dramatic reduction in our resources. He also spoke about a recent lumpsum without proper explanation.

Meanwhile from the letter I got from vfs they thicked
Travel history
Lenght of proposed stay
Purpose of visit
Personal asset and financial status

Please elders in the house I need your help as to how to tackle this. Travel history and financial status.
I have been to 3 African countries.
Thank you
