According to this website Joburg metro has a total of 13599km both paved and unpaved as of 2017

there are virtually no gravel roads in Johannesburg(maybe around a 1000kms of gravel roads)....that figure is still more than Kenya as of 2017....no?

From a simple google search SA has 750,000KM of road network 30% of that is paved which means around 225,000km . Joburg is 1,645 km² that is like 40km x 40 km .....with all the buildings in Joburg how many kilometers of road would fit in that space.?

Maybe Kenya can catch Joburg in 10 years... But certainly not Nairobi

You would have phrased it like this..Jorburg has x kilometers of road network while the whole of kenya has x kilometers . Otherwise you are just blowing hot air .

Kenya is catching up including in infrastructure. Nairobi proper has most of it's road paved. Nairobi Metro - this large joburg suburbs - there is huge deficit - this is why Nairobi Metro need 10yrs to catch up - and kenya as whole 15yrs.

I don't have to watch videos to know the facts on the ground..... As I said just the road and rail net work in Joburg alone is more than the entire Kenya, Johannesburg has 6 x 30000+ seater stadiums..... Kenya has 1, there are more malls in Joburg than the entire Kenya, there are more airports in Joburg alone than in Kenya, that's not even mentioning Joburgs BRT system and gautrain....

As I said, when Kenya has caught up to Joburg then we can talk.

I already did.... Consult the archives, I posted sources/links from PHASA as well conservation research done in Kenya and Nigeria hence why nobody is even debating these facts with me anymore

Im pretty sure it's payment just for the 3 JF-17 NAF already bought..... There would have been an announcement either from NAF and definitely from the manufacturer if it is indeed a purchase for additional JF17

The bone of contention was Nairobi catching up with jorburg. You just proved my previous point that jorburg is dormant. Nairobi is growing at a fast rate and thus, it will only take less than 8yrs for Nairobi to catch up & even overtake jorburg on horizontal infrastructure. In vertical, whether you're building or not, Nairobi has already catch up. And with the construction boom of skyscrapers in Nairobi, I don't see if jorburg can stand Nairobi in vertical infrastructure 5yrs to come.

My guy. You're confused. I never said mashujaa park museum will be the biggest in africa. It will be among the biggest if not the biggest - comprehend this point before coming up with another contradicting opinion. We're talking about growth rate and when they will interject. It's not about jorburg vs Nairobi. For now jorburg is ahead - in eight yrs, jorburg will be dead.

Your last paragraph rings ignorance. No one is comparing Nairobi with jorburg of today. Horizontal infrastructure which you're talking about was tackled already by me & jln115.

Who has said there is comparison - south africa is ahead of kenya is nearly all things - but at least in terms of tall building - soon you'll be coming to Nairobi to marvel at them - I doubt you can afford to go further than that.

Kenya as whole is 15yrs from South Africa - Nairobi 10yrs from joburg - all this based on the current trends - where kenya is developing very fast and south africa is basically stuck,

my bru the amount of capital in SA dwarfs that of Kenya.....if SA doesn't have money to build then Kenya certainly doesn't

Kenya cement consumption is approaching 8M tonnes - South Africa is at 13M - for a country with 10m more people and twice as big as kenya.

The slight edge you have on Nairobi - is going to disappear soon. From malls, to data centers, name it - infrastructure - all of it - we are catching up.

Kenya as whole is one big construction site.

As for silly neigberhood debate - all you need is to get a map of Nairobi metro built up area - and compare to province of Gauteng - it's pretty close.

No it'snot what happens in reality it is what happens when you use poor technology and depend on cheap fossil fuels for all your energy needs China and America definitely produce more electricity from coal then South Africa but their levels aren't as high, you'd wonder why at first but the answer is clear the technology is more advanced there

Jorburg is not constructing any 30+ fls as we speak. Nairobi is construction 12, 34fls - not including GTC. Those are grand projects that only Egyptian new cities can rival at the moment.

Nairobi is building one of the biggest museum in Africa, mashujaa park. Nairobi has just topped out 6 GTC 43fls, 37fls, 33fls, 31fls, 30fls, 30fls modern apartments and finishing is underway.
