Just30:you have the memory of a gold fish |
vaxx1:I don't get your point?? The Whites of South Africa are not the same as the ones in europe. To the Boer people Africa was/is home and they died fighting for it against British colonisers just like any other Black nation in Africa. Apartheid was simply one African group oppressing another.... Not anything new if you look at the recent history of Africa. The Boers wanted independence just as much as any other black nation and despised the British just as much as any Black Nation. Even today stats show that the Afrkaner minority is the least likely to emigrate to another country than any other ethnicity in South Africa, even though economically they have the most means to do so |
Just30:some what true yes!!! Great that you finally acknowledge that Ghana's independence had nothing to do with Ghanaian resistance and everything to do with the British decision to decolonise its empire |
Just30:Because the British already decided in 1945 it would decolonise its colonies.... And not because Ghana had a few riots |
vaxx1:I guess it's a good thing I'm white so there goes your argument!! |
Just30:If they feared that other countries would become independent after allowing Ghana to become independent then why oh why did they already make the decision to decolonized all their colonies back in 1945?? And NO I did not forget that.... I actually had decent schooling unlike you.... Never mind the fact that South Africa was also a British union |
Just30:Bro think logically for a moment, how is Ghana any different to the dozens of other African colonies that gained their independence at the same time?? |
vaxx1:riots or no riots doesn't matter, Ghana would have been decolonized regardless if you had riots or not |
Just30:Yes they couldve had Ghana as a colony if they so wished..... They were much much much much more powerful. |
vaxx1:Ghana became a Republic in 1960.....South Africa became a Republic in 1961, so please explain how one year according to you is "took long to be given" |
vaxx1:It was gifted just as the independence of the rest of the African colonies including South Africa |
Just30:I keep upsurping South Africa as an example because its the only country in Africa that formally went to war with the full might of the British Empire and subsequently embarrassed them, if you want to claim that you beat an opponent then said opponent should be at full strength not like the Asantes that faced a handful of British troops who never even formally declared war on them. And no the British didn't wipe South Africa not even close the Boers lost an estimated 4000 kia and the British lost nearly 30 000 kia, so who wiped who exactly?? ..... So revered were South African generals that they served as Field Marshals during both ww1 and ww2. And the British army definitely did not even have even near a million men in West Africa, in fact if you did your research the highest number of British troops ever deployed to Africa was 600 000 and that was during the second Boer war from 1899 to 1902 |
vaxx1:If the British wanted to they couldve still had colonies all over the world, never mind Ghana, the decolonisation of the British Empire was due to internal sentiment, and certainly not Ghanain resistance. |
vaxx1:Bro Ghana being the first sub saharan country is sheer coincidence it was by no means a breakthrough , The British were decolonising all of its colonies all over the world, including the sub saharan ones. |
Just30:Did the British also fear, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Kenya ect ect because all of these countries gained independence at more or less the same time as Ghana?? |
Just30:whats this supposed to be?? Your book doesn't disprove anything I said, infact it confirms what I said as it states Ghana became a diminion in 1957 and a Republic in 1960 |
Just30:The Asantes fought but a drop in the ocean of the British Empire which didn't even formally declare war on the Ashanti kingdom... .... Yet still lost. If the British wanted to they could've sent over half a million soldiers like they did against the South African Republic and wiped the Asantes from the history books. |
Just30:-Bro the Ashanti kingdom was a British protectorate from 1901 till 1957.....don't know what history they teach you in Ghana but that is the fact of the matter.... - yes they had Rifles and it would certainly not take more than a couple thousand of Rifle carrying men to besiege 200 000 spear carrying Asantes. - They were actually preoccupied by the actual expansion of their empire including the much bigger and expensive Anglo-Burmese war to name a few....... And in 1900 they were definitely more preoccupied by the biggest and most expensive war in the British Empires history at that time, which needed 600 000 troops and resulted in over 40 000 British deaths. |
Just30:Britain afraid of Ghana?? Please bro!! They colonised you with a handful of soldiers, if they were scared then they wouldve sent its full might to you like they did in South Africa in 1899 The British gifted your independence just like it gifted the independence of the rest of Africa, the colonisation and decolonisation of Ghana is no different than any other African country. |
Just30:Instead of rambling why don't you prove me wrong by providing facts |
mtisTheQubit:Technically speaking all African countries that faced the British empire were colonised, however this wasn't my argument. Vaxx1 claimed that the British were beaten mercilessly by the Asantes ..... It's true yes that the Asantes did win a few battles however the British force was outnumbered 10 - 1 yet still conquered them in the end, if the Ashanti empire had to face half a million British soldiers then the likes of Vax and Just 30 would not be talking to you and me today, I find it funny when African countries boast about defeating the British in one or 2 battles but forget that the British barley spent a drop of recourses on them yet still defeated them. the British never needed to spend great amounts of resources or men to colonise African country bar for the South African Republic, which acquired the full might of the British empire and was the most expensive war that the British ever had up till then(it nearly bankrupted the country) There was a formal declaration of war for both the first(which the ZAR won) and second(which the British won) Boer wars.....there was no formal declaration of war(I could be wrong) for any other anglo conflict in Africa. It was the only war in Africa which British casualties outnumbered(and by far I might add) that of its enemy, the British also needed 600 000 troops to defeat the 2 Boer Republics,....... A massive amount even by todays standards. So far only 2 states in Africa have ever faced the full might of the British empire and have been successful at some extent and that was the South-African Republic and the orange freestate |
mtisTheQubit:The South African Republic although they were still colonised in the after the second boer war. |
vaxx1:It's sad that you don't even know your own countries history. The facts: Ghana became a British dominion in 1957 and a Republic in 1960.....if you don't believe me...... Well Google is your friend!! The entire Ghana was under British control, not just the gold Coast and Ghana's independence was not won because of a few riots. During the mid 40s and 50s pro decolonization sentiment was growing within the British empire, it was thus decided to give independence to almost all of its colonies hence most of the African colonies gained independence more or less at the same time...... a few riots in Ghana certainly never had a big impact on their decision to decolonise. The British army had better weapons yes but were far outnumbered by the Asantes, unlike in South Africa where they needed an army of 600 000, concentration camps, scotch earth policies and billions of pounds to defeat a few farmers numbering around 50 000. The Ashanti kingdom was a protectorate until 1957 just like the Zulu kingdom was until 1960, also the Zulus were never enslaved as you wrongfully claimed and are still ruled by king Goodwill Zwelithini today. |
Problemkid1:why can't you? |
vaxx1:So much noise with so little substance. Here are the facts: Ghana was a British protectorate until 1957 when it became a British dominion and only became independent in 1960. The British voluntarily gave you your independence, you did not fight for it, if the British so wished it could of wiped Ghana from the history books, infact if the British sent more than 600 000 soldiers to Ghana as they did in SA you would not be speaking to me now. Also the British force that fought the Asantes was outnumbered 10 to 1 yet still managed to conquer them not the other way around as you claim. Lastly the Zulu kingdom was never entrapped to slavery, in fact even during British colonisation and Apartheid it still exists today... Unlike the ashanti kingdom. |
Just30:They won........ yet became a British protectorate? Also since we are being Honest the British only sent a couple thousand to Ashanti...... And never mind the fact they were actually preoccupied with a much much much bigger and costlier war at the same time |
Lionessza6:Well atleast we agree on something ![]() |
Lionessza6:Kikuyu1 were you bro? Ya girl is waiting for you ![]() In all serious though which news outlets according to you are the non-fake ones...... Please don't mention Ann7 |
Just30:let's be brutally honest though, no African country(except for 1) can boast about beating the British .........there is only one country in Africa that have defeated the super power that was the British empire in a war. |
Lionessza6:My guess as a former President of the ANC he will be protected from being held accountable for his corruption. |
Lionessza6:I don't believe in fairy-tales sweetheart ![]() However I do have a Kenyan friend kikuyu1, his a great guy...............and best of all he loves fairy-tales and conspiracies just as much as you do.................you guys would make a fantastic couple ![]() |
Lionessza6:Hahahaha the irony in this post ![]() |
