Foreign AffairsWhy The Whereabouts Of North Korean Leader Remain A Mystery by Joclebs(op): 2:21pm On Apr 28, 2020
Pyongyang’s tight rein on the flow
of intelligence means the outside
world knows little about the
missing ruler.
Kim Jong-un has not been seen in
public for more than two weeks, yet the
world has few clues as to the North
Korean leader’s whereabouts or the
state of his health.
Even Donald Trump, arguably the one
person outside North Korea who might
have been expected to shed light on the
mystery surrounding his “friend”, did
little to end the speculation on Monday
when he claimed to have a “very good
idea” about how Kim was faring.
“I can’t tell you exactly,” Trump told
reporters at the White House. “Yes, I do
have a very good idea, but I can’t talk
about it now. I just wish him well.”
Trump, who has
met Kim three times
and claims to have
developed a
personal rapport,
suggested that all
would be revealed
soon. “I hope he’s
fine. I do know how he’s doing,
relatively speaking. We will see – you’ll
probably be hearing in the not too
distant future.”
Trump’s ambiguity may have been
informed by diplomatic caution or by
the simple fact that, like everyone
beyond Kim’s inner circle of advisers,
he has no idea.
The secrecy that dictates every official
pronouncement emanating from North
Korea makes it virtually impossible to
construct a definitive account of the
state of its leadership, including the
health of members of the Kim dynasty.
The country’s previous leader – and
Kim’s father – Kim Jong-il , had been
dead for almost two days before
confirmation came from the state-run
Korean Central News Agency.
Even neighbouring South Korea has
been unable to create a reliable
intelligence network, according to Du
Hyeogn-cha, a senior researcher at the
Asan Institute for Policy Studies in
Seoul.

PoliticsCoronavirus: Nigeria To Ease Abuja And Lagos Lockdowns On 4 May by Joclebs(op): 12:05am On Apr 28, 2020
Nigeria will begin a "gradual easing" of
coronavirus-related lockdowns in the federal
capital territory of Abuja, and Lagos and Ogun
states from 4 May.
The lockdowns had been due to end on Monday
night, but President Muhammadu Buhari said
they needed to continue.
He also ordered new nationwide measures
against Covid-19, including a night-time curfew
and mandatory face masks.
The moves would ensure the economy
functioned "while still maintaining our aggressive
response", Mr Buhari said.
Earlier, workers at a construction site in Lagos
rioted in protest at the lockdown.
A police spokesman said the workers at the
Lekki Free Trade zone - including those at the oil
refinery of billionaire Aliko Dangote - went on the
rampage and injured several officers in the area.
Fifty-one people were arrested, he added.
There are reports that the protesters were angry
that some foreign nationals were allowed to go
to work at the site.
Nigeria, Africa's most-populous nation and
largest economy, has reported 1,273 confirmed
cases of Covid-19 and 40 deaths.
In a televised address on Monday night, Mr
Buhari acknowledged that the lockdowns in
Abuja, Lagos and Ogun had "come at a very
heavy economic cost" since they began on 30
March.
"Many of our citizens have lost their means of
livelihood. Many businesses have shut down," he
said.
He added: "No country can afford the full impact
of a sustained lockdown while awaiting the
development of vaccines."
The president said there would therefore be a
"phased and gradual easing" of the lockdowns
next Monday to allow some economic activities
to resume.
But to limit the spread of Covid-19, he
announced that the government would impose a
curfew across the country between 20:00 and
06:00, require everyone to wear face masks in
public, and stop "non-essential inter-state
passenger travel".
Bans on social and religious gatherings will also
remain in place.
Mr Buhari also expressed deep concern over the
unexplained deaths of a number of people in the
northern state of Kano.
He said a lockdown would be imposed there for
two weeks with immediate effect and that he
was sending a government team to investigate.

Sports'tell Him I'll F*ck His Mother!' - Diouf's Explosive Fight With Gerard. by Joclebs(op): 10:24am On Apr 23, 2020
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard once got into a massive row with El Hadji Diouf at half time of a match, former team-mate Florent Sinama- Pongolle has recalled. The Englishman spent 17 seasons at Anfield, with two of them coming alongside the Senegalese international. But the 39-year-old was more famous for his bad behaviour than goals, such as spitting at a Celtic fan while playing for Rangers. And Sinama-Pongolle, who spent one season with the pair in 2003/04, has revealed how the relationship between once boiled over. Speaking on Instagram live, the former Reds man said: “Half-time of a preseason game. Fight between Diouf and Gerrard. I was traumatised. “Can you imagine the young ones seeing this and thinking that’s what professionals are like at that level? At half-time, in the dressing room. “Stevie G is all like ‘you have to pass, you have to pass’ and [Diouf] just loses it. “He didn’t speak English. His English was rubbish. You know what he did? They hated each other so much. Steven Gerrard arrives, he insults Diouf. ‘Hey, you f ** …’. “And [Diouf] couldn’t answer, so he grabs Gérard Houllier and says: ‘Tell him, I’ll **** his mum’. “He came in and said: ‘I’m not his mate, I’ll do him in straight away’.” It comes as the former forward laid into the Liverpool legend last September. The 39-year-old told Four Four Two magazine: "When people say I don't like Gerrard, I laugh, because if I tell you the things he used to say about me to the guys, you wouldn't be able to write it. "For me, it's all in the past, but I'm not a hypocrite - I know they don't like me, so I also don't like them.

"Look, I say this and they get offended but let's be honest – Gerrard has won nothing for his country. “I took my country to the World Cup, and that singular act cannot be quantified. "I'm happy for my boy, Sadio (Mane) , and I'm happy the club is going well now, but on a personal level I'd rather I hadn't played there.”

PoliticsPoor, Vulnerable Must Be Priority In Palliatives Distribution – Rep by Joclebs(op): 1:30am On Apr 21, 2020
The ongoing distribution of
Coronavirus palliatives should be
targeted at the very less privileged
Nigerians, House of
Representatives member for Udi/
Ezeagu federal constituency, Dennis
Amadi has said.
The lawmaker gave the advice in
Enugu, Monday, when he presented
large quantities of food stuffs to
members of his constituency and
some religious groups to cushion
the effects of hardship occasioned
by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Amadi said that even though all
segments of the society were
affected by the lockdown measure,
the very indigent citizens were
worst hit in the emergency
situation.
Represented by his wife, Mrs
Ifeyinwa Amadi, the lawmaker said
he was happy to see smiles on
faces of the recipients who he said
have been adversly affected by the
lockdown.
“We thank Governor Ifeanyi
Ugwuanyi of Enugu state for
handing Enugu state into the hands
of God and for all the measures the
state has taken in curbing spread of
Coronavirus and in amelioration of
impact brought about by the control
measures.
“These items are mere token and I
beg the recipients to accept them
with good heart,” Amadi pleaded.
Also, former Deputy Senate
President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu,
pleaded that the poor should be
given first line priority in distribution
of the palliatives.
Represented by his aide, Emeka
Ezenwugo, Ekweremadu stated that
the Udi/Ezeagu Federal
Constituency was blessed with a
good representative in the person of
Amadi at the lower chamber of the
National Assembly.
“God said that the portion you give
is the portion you receive; I
therefore urge those who are better
than some others to exercise
restraint and allow the less
privileged take priority in receiving
these food items,” the senator
urged.

Nairaland GeneralUS Oil Prices Turn Negative As Demand Dries Up by Joclebs(op): 1:10am On Apr 21, 2020
The price of US oil has turned negative for the
first time in history.
That means oil producers are paying buyers to
take the commodity off their hands over fears
that storage capacity could run out in May.
Demand for oil has all but dried up as lockdowns
across the world have kept people inside.
As a result, oil firms have resorted to renting
tankers to store the surplus supply and that has
forced the price of US oil into negative territory.
The price of a barrel of West Texas Intermediate
(WTI), the benchmark for US oil, fell as low as
minus $37.63 a barrel.

Christianity EtcPastor Demands $100,000 To Fight Coronavirus Demon In Hell by Joclebs(op): 11:13pm On Mar 28, 2020
As the number of coronavirus infections rises
rapidly across the world, a South African clergy,
Pastor Mboro has offered to go to hell and fight
the demon responsible for the pandemic.

According to Kenya Updates , Pastor Mboro has
offered to embark on the dangerous journey and
save mankind only for a sum of $100,000
(₦36,700,000)to cover his transport logistics.
“I am ready to save mankind, ” Pastor Mboro
said, “I have seen a vision of how the
Coronavirus demon looks like and I will defeat
it,”
The pastor also stated that there was no need to
waste money on research as the real cause of
the disease that has infected 640,589 people
with 29,848 deaths is a demon in hell which he
has volunteered to kill.
“There is no need for worry and expensive
research, the real problem is the demon
causing this disease and I am ready to kill it
once and for all,” Pastor Mboro said.
The pastor gave an ultimatum saying the money
should come no later than the second week in
April.
In 2017, a South African news site reported that
the controversial pastor charged his church
members a sum of 5,000 rands (₦104,455) to
view pictures he allegedly took with his
smartphone while in heaven
during an Easter church service.

HealthCorona Virus: Condoms Would Be Scarce by Joclebs(op): 11:02pm On Mar 28, 2020
Shortage of condoms looms due to coronavirus
lockdown .

A global shortage of condoms is oncoming as
the world’s largest manufacturer was forced to
shut down production due to the coronavirus
pandemic.

Goh Miah Kiat, the Chief Executive of Karex Bhd,
the Malaysian company that makes one in every
five condoms globally told Reuters about his
fears of an impending global shortage of
condoms.
“We are going to see a global shortage of
condoms everywhere, which is going to be
scary,” he said.
Karex Bhd has not produced a single condom in
its three Malaysian factories for more than a
week because of a lockdown imposed by the
government to halt the spread of the virus.
The Reuters calculated that this would mean a
shortfall of 100 million condoms, normally
marketed internationally by brands such as
Durex, supplied to state healthcare systems such
as Britain’s NHS or distributed by aid programs
such as the UN Population Fund.
The company was, however, given permission to
restart production on Friday. It would continue
production with only 50% of its workforce, under
a special exemption for critical industries.
“It will take time to jumpstart factories and we
will struggle to keep up with demand at half
capacity,” Goh Miah Kiat said.
“My concern is that for a lot of humanitarian
programs deep down in Africa, the shortage
will not just be two weeks or a month. That
shortage can run into months.”
Malaysia is Southeast Asia’s worst-affected
country, with 2,161 coronavirus infections and 26
deaths. The lockdown is due to remain in place
at least until April 14.

EducationFirst Black SUG President In The University Of Plymouth by Joclebs(op): 10:40pm On Mar 28, 2020
Chukwudi Kosi Ezenyi, a 24-year-old, has set a huge record by emerging the first black student president at University of Plymouth – To secure the seat, he had to defeat two other Britons by a very wide margin as he scored 1817 votes – The student had in the past served as the vice president of the same institution’s students union government. Nigerians are not only performing well in their schools abroad, but they are also doing well at the helms of political affairs in their various institutions. Chukwudi Kosi Ezenyi, a 24-year-old, aced it in politics abroad as he became the first black student president of the University of Plymouth in the UK, NewsMakers reports. He set the record by beating two other British citizens during the election to put a stop to the 28-year white domination in the school’s students union government. Ezenyi polled whopping votes of 1817 out of the overall 3412 to defeat Jennike Smye and William Styles with 925 and 631 votes respectively. The Nigerian postgraduate student used his experience as vice president to make a good campaign. An indigene of Anambra state from Nnobi in Idemili local government, he passed the required number of votes of 1706 to secure the coveted seat. The Nigerian already had two degrees and only studying for his masters in operations and supply management in the school. In his interview with the media, Ezenyi said that he was very certain he would win because he had a good campaign team to pull it off. He added that he had gathered enough experience as the vice president of the same union. He further advised black students in the school to broaden their horizons and avoid a life of crime.
