Spy360: The best way to judge is before the game. Before the game, everyone was about Saka Vs Tsimikas and Martinelli Vs TAA. That shows we already had a chance. Sutton of BBC in his weekly prediction predicted a 4-1 victory.
Like I said, we played poorly in the second half but still scored twice. That first half performance against Spurs would not yield us two goals because Spurs are very physical and organized defensively. That physicality and organisation required a higher level of performance and tactical nous to break down.
If you ask the players they will tell you. Lol... We all know this isn't true na. You judge a game after the game have been played and never before. Everyone thought Tierney will start but we saw Tomi started and that will affect any prediction they'll give. Also, Liverpool players are back plus we hardly win them even with our great form or Liverpool's poor form, so that will be another factor to consider. Tottenham on the other hand were playing badly but scraping out wins plus they haven't beaten us at our home since 2011. Anybody who will look at those stats and still think we'll walk over Liverpool or have an easier game with Liverpool compared to Tottenham are just using emotions and this season's hysteria to analyse it I so laughed when Paul Merson Predicted a 4-1 win. I was like "against which Liverpool"? |

Spy360: We cannot continue to ship in goals and expect to finish the league well. The attack has been bailing us but it is not a sustainable model. At the long run it will tell.
So Jodera Kokane is right.
Re: DWYL The thing is that I feel you're looking at it as a simplistic view. More like, if a team loses, that means they played badly or if a team wins that means they played better. But we all know in football, that's not always the case and that's how it is with this our defence. Our defence are leaking goals not because the structure or organisation isn't good but because of poor childish errors by individuals which can be easily cut out from the game. The only game I'll blame the defence is against Man u but for all other games it's mostly Gabriel's error. It'll be unfair to blame the whole defence for an individual error and that's the point I'm trying to make |

He seemed vulnerable d most since he grabbed hendo's shirt... If f.a should look into anything, it is d fact that xhaka had no right to hold hendo's shirt that way no matter what. Xhaka mehn have tremendously improved this season. The flick over Matip just showed the confidence and freedom he have playing here, something which was missing previous seasons here.
With this form, it's just annoying to think we've wasted most of Xhaka's prime here because of wrong positioning. Well, I hope his form continues for long and we enjoy him from here.

Katcall: Stiff can mean any club big or small. Liverpool and Spurs are neither here nor there. They've been inconsistent this season. Tho I feel Liverpool was robbed. I never expected them to lose scandalously to Man U. But it's a given for arsenal to lose at old Trafford. Anyway It's too early in the season. Let's see how it goes Lol, you're neither here or there. I didn't claim I'll win all my matches this season. Even Man city that everyone is fearing drew Aston Villa. Spuds who you claim are inconsistent were level on point with Man city when we met them. I want you to name those stiff opposition so that if we win them, I'll come here to remind you. No be say we go draw against Nottingham forest and you'll start hearing "stiff opposition". NB: Man u won us at old Trafford this season so we aren't meeting them again |

kokaneprodigy: So what’s wrong with my initial post where I said we need to work on the defense. Cos na where this argument start.
I said we need to work on that defense, you typed a rebuttal claiming the defense is fine. I pointed evidence with stats, then you went on to say the defense is prone to errors.
Jodera you sure say Spy never collect your password. While the bolded is true that I sent a rebuttal but when I said the defence was solid was in the organisational structure and aspects. Once those things are great to cut out childish errors won't be a problem cos that will be the least of worries It's just like attack. If a team creates chances upon chances (organisational structure) but a striker misses the clear cut chances(error in this case), I won't blame the attack for being poor but the striker for being ineffective. I always look at the process before end product and arsenal defence have been good. Those errors are just poor decision making that with time it'll fade away but you see poor organisational structure, once it is not there even without any error the team will concede goals. Hope you get my point |

Spy360: Liverpool was easier to me.
Our first half wasn't good. But the two goals at both ends of the half favoured us but we totally dominated the second half. Taking two leads despite playing fairly poorly means it would have been easier.
Again, Liverpool are more technical while Spurs are physical. This too favoured us because we were more technical than them.
Against Liverpool we controlled the wings easily and our best players were the front players.
Take away both errors, there's no way Liverpool was going to score. Same as Spurs but they focused more on defending which made it harder. This was the first half against Liverpool. I've never been afraid this season the way I've been afraid in the first half ystdy. Look at our shots. We had 3 shots meaning aside the 1min goal and the 45min 2nd goal, we had only one shot during the game. We were outpossessed in possession and we were losing all duels both in midfield and attack If you think the game against spurs which we played them like small pikin from beginning to the end and had Conte gave up at 71mins is harder than Liverpool that made us work our win throughout 90min, then I have nothing to say and leave you to your opinion

iamoyindamola: Arnold made it easy, he could have track down martinelli I see people blaming Trent but I don't blame him sha. Liverpool defence was already disorganized due to our quick counter While Trent and the defender (was it Henderson or Matip) needed to both track G.Jesus run and Odegaard who was advancing. Remember, Martinelli came from deep and it'll be difficult for Trent to keep up with both Odegaard and Martinelli at the same time. I see people blaming Trent for that goal as just looking for scapegoat |

toluxe0075: Bro, you can’t undermine Odegaard ‘s pass that led to the first goal and call it “normal.” It takes intelligent and visionary players to give that kind of through pass and I’m sure you know.
The pass that went behind Liverpool defense and Gabriel Jesus . He could have put Martinelli in a tight position if he had chosen to play the pass sideways. Like Jodera had rightly stated, the pass itself already made the decision for Martinelli to take the shot.
It’s passes like this that make us praise the likes of De Bruyne, Xavi, Modric. Thank you bro. You really get my point |

iamoyindamola: Lmao For the first goal it's normal pass and Arnold made it easy That's no visionary pass, bringing something out of nothing is visionary For the 2nd pass can't remember
But Kudos to odegaard for the assist as that open up the game Lol, with the space afforded before making that through pass, Odegaard could have passed it just along the side for Martinelli to run with the ball and adjust his body for a shot which would have made Liverpool players to block him. But that singular decision of being patient and laying the ball behind all Liverpool's defence for a one touch shot eliminated any decisions Martinelli might have to make You might underrate it but that's truly visionary. Most Midfielders in this EPL won't do such |

iamoyindamola: Whích visionary pass is that Remind me abeg Top two highlights 1... The assist to Martinelli. It's only someone who's visionary will be patient and lay that ball in a position where Martinelli just needs to take a shot without any touch or movement. His pass itself already made the decision for Martinelli to take that shot 2... The pass to Ben White in the 2nd half. That pass took out 3 Liverpool players and created chance for Ben White for a cutback but unfortunately White's execution was unsuccessful |

kokaneprodigy: check our clean sheet stat so far this season. that should tell you all you need to know.
I repeat it’s the fire power that’s saving us. Do you know we’ve not kept a clean sheet at home in EPL this season ? The bolded is mostly because of basic/childish errors. Saliba error Against Leicester Ramsdale error Against Leicester Gabriel error against Fulham Gabriel and Xhaka error against Tottenham Gabriel error against Liverpool Mostly Gabriel is the culprit here and if he'll just cut out the error in his game we'll get more clean sheets. It's only Aston Villa and Liverpool (2nd goal) in our home that I know doesn't involve basic error. It means we would have kept more clean sheets than we have originally. And lf you notice, the team is growing and organisation have been excellent which is the most important |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 12:08pm On Oct 10, 2022 |
kokaneprodigy: We need to work on that defense , imagine we didn’t have the fire power we currently have. No be Wetin we go dey talk be this.
It’s not everyday we will get lucky case in point the match against the scummies I still think that defence was solid ystdy except for that Gabriel howler. Gabriel aside that howler was even good and if we isolate that error, all individuals in that defence was great. The first goal was an error obviously while the 2nd goal was good work (pass) from Jota and a good run from Firmino. I would give credit to those two for the goal than to think of criticising Saliba. Aside that, I don't think of how Ramsdale was overworked, and if you think the defence wasn't overworked because our midfield and attack was dangerous, checkout how the first half was played when the defence was under pressure as our Midfield and attack was dominated yet Liverpool couldn't work the keeper . |
