Borntosmoke: Nobody is talking about 100 million Antony. Brazilian pocolee, except the goal he scored, he offered nothing in the match. We should offload him and that fraudcho to team wey need them. The earlier the better. We can still make 150 million .on both of them if we sell dem.
Lol, which team do you think will be desperate to buy them from you guys for at least 75m??
You think if Sancho enter market now, club go drop 60m? not to talk of Anthony
There have been admiring glances at Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal’s top-four rivals in recent months — #Chelsea among the clubs believed to be monitoring the 21-year-old.
Far better than signing Leao
You guys can keep on admiring and admiring same way guys for naija dey always admire Beyonce.
Spy360: That's what I was saying. Xhaka placed Gabriel under that situation. He acted and it led to a penalty. If he hadn't acted it would have still ended with a goal or at least an attempt at goal.
I won't blame a mistake that was induced. It's similar to blaming someone who poured water on an expensive material while trying to quench fire. Or someone hitting you while trying to kill mosquito on your body. It's neither objective nor constructive.
It's the rule of defenders that you don't slide inside the 18yard box until you're 100% sure that you'll get that ball.
That situation was never even 50% for Gabriel to slide that ball plus it is not a very dangerous ball the way you're painting it. Even Roland mentioned that Saliba was already positioned to engage Richarlison same way I was saying too. Someone who's reading all these your talk would think Xhaka gave Richarlison free run to the keeper with Kane already stationed for a tapin reason which was why Gabriel acted that way but it's very very far from it. I dropped a link up and If you watch it carefully, you'll see that Saliba was already positioned to engage Richarlison while Partey and Zinchenko was already positioned to cut out any passes to Kane and Son. This probability of Spurs scoring was greatly reduced until Gabriel increased it to 99% with that foolish lunge
Spy360: Criticisms are always allowed but they MUST be constructive and objective.
Your criticisms of Gabriel this time did not meet those criteria. Just as the way you criticised Lokonga but later admitted it.
With time you will come around as you usually do. Xhaka has apologised for his error, you are still mentioning Gabriel.
Of course, without Xhaka's error, we wouldn't have been talking about Gabriel's own cos it was Xhaka that put that defence and Gabriel under pressure so it's normal for him to apologize since he started it.
Two things are clear Xhaka made an error Gabriel made an error
That Xhaka apologized for his obvious error doesn't mean that Gabriel didn't act foolishly too.
Anyways, we won that's what matters.
I don learn new thing about penalty from you. I believe it'll come handy one day
Roland17: As many of you are aware, I am one of Gabu’s biggest stans on this thread. I have defended him against countless agendas and will continue to….However, in this instance his decision to go to ground was poor, unnecessary, rash and reckless. While there is a good argument to be made about the chaos that led to the goal but as a defender, positional awareness is imperative.
Richarlison was actively seeking contact inside the box. He made the angle difficult for Gabu to make contact with the ball and dragged his decision to either pass or shoot because he was waiting for that contact. Gabu had no business going to the ground with that angle, especially when you consider Saliba had recovered and covered the approaching Richarlison.
The fact that he made a bad decision on Saturday doesn’t mean he is suddenly a bad defender. I will continue to Stan him.
Thank you for this, the bolded and especially that Saliba stuff.
I will continue to side him as usual against any agenda but mistakes and errors as this na real no no
mostob: Technical foul is only advisable when there is 99% chance of conceding a goal. As at the time Richarlison had the ball, there is still a sizeable chance a goal could be avoided. Gabriel went too early in the challenge .... That is my point.
Exactly, this was all my point all these while. Someone will think it's one on one Richarlison had and that it's only sliding and causing the penalty that's the last/only option
daveP: At half-time on Saturday, Granit Xhaka is understood to have apologised for his role in what led to Tottenham being awarded a first-half penalty that Harry Kane dispatched to equalise. Xhaka failed to clear in the box before Gabriel’s poor tackle.
Copied
That should settle this.
Thank goodness. People who are absolving Gabriel of the blame to solely blame Xhaka should see this
Spy360: This is an agenda against the agenda to scapegoat Gabriel.
And it is not funny
Who wants to scapegoat Gabriel?
So if he does something clearly wrong, we shouldn't criticize him again?
Everyone mostly reading my posts on Gabriel knows I like him and I never had any Agenda against him but once something is wrong and foolish, we should say it the way it is. We should thank God we have a striker like Jesus who hustled that second goal early to calm the players nerve cos after that penalty Arsenal was losing control of the game. If to say na Laca and arsenal ended up losing that game, we for know how far.
Spy360: There's a similarity. A player commits a foul to stop a scoring opportunity.
The only difference is that Suarez was red carded. But that decision took them to the semi finals and he was celebrated for it.
If Kane had missed that penalty, we would be celebrating Gabriel.
Please, don't compare that Suarez decision to this at all. Nobody will ever celebrate Gabriel for that nonsense. Did you even celebrate Tavarez against Man u last season under same situation?
Even that Suarez case was a knockout game, That was a dying minutes and the most important was that the ball already heading to the net. If that ball enters, Uruguay are out. The only thing Suarez would have done was to sacrifice himself to give his country another slim chance, which was the Penalty.
How can you compare that to Gabriel was recklessly jumped into a challenge that if he applied smarter sense would have averted that danger. Now you're saying any penalty is good but it's same us that was criticizing Luiz, and Xhaka that time for always causing penalty. I even remembered you criticizing Tavarez last season for causing penalty against Man u last season and that's what you were using to punch holes in criticizing him against Lokonga. Now e don reach Gabriel, we are now hearing how penalties are good abi.
mostob: If Gabriel had not challenge Richarlison, it's either he score with his left foot or pass to another Spurs player. Saliba was far away to stop such. Gabriel made a good decision to challenge Richarlison but unfortunately he conceded a penalty. Not absolving him of the blame though.
My problem isn't Gabriel challenging him, it is him lunging into a slide tackle in the box area that's my issue. If he had body checked him while Saliba covered him up, no way Richarlison would have scored that goal.
And if you think Saliba is far and didn't want to engage him, watch the 30-36secs of this link and let your eyes be specifically on Saliba and the ball. I would want to hear your opinion on that. And if after watching it you still insist that Saliba wasn't intending to do anything then no qualms.
Lush100: That was or is your quote not mine. My quote is that u saying gabriel who was much closer to Ricarlson should not engage him but rather leave him to Saliba who was farther (who was trying to cover Son at the other end). If Gabu had left Ricarlson and he scored u guys will put the blame on Gabu. So he is bleeped if he did and he is bleeped if he didn't.
That's not my quote but of Spy tho.
Maybe you're looking at Gabriel during the phase but I want you to try and look at Saliba on this link I want to drop. Please try and go through it specifically from the 30-36 seconds in the link and watch Saliba. Please let your eyes be on Saliba and let me see your opinion on Saliba on that situation (whether he was far or not)
Lush100: Saliba wasn't fully positioned to engage ricarlson, he was trying to reduce protect the general area becos there was at least a spurs player over the other end of the post (son and kane). Ricarlson might want to pass rather than shoot and they would have scored or Ricarlson takes his shot anyway.
@jodera (see modified)
Attached is the pix. Remove Gabu who was approaching Ricarlson. and see the kane and Son options with white putting them all onside.
All I am saying is Gabu had to engage. Ricarlson was clever to make sure there was contact
Anyone who watched even the highlights will tell you that this picture you just showed was at the exact time Richarlison is just retrieving the ball from Xhaka's mistake and at this time no decision was made from him to even think of taking a shot or passing cos he isn't even firmly in control of the ball yet.
I wish someone can make a gif on it let's all see. Immediately, Richarlison peeled away from Gabriel after controlling the ball, Saliba had already made the move towards him to stop any intention. No how anyone will watch the highlight at least and wouldn't blame Gabriel for such nonsense.
Saying the penalty giveaway is the best decision Gabriel would come up with is one hell of a funny thing I'll ever hear.
Varane was very poor too. A double pivot would have protected the back four more…
Sancho? He is sh.it…
Malacia was uncharacteristically poor…
I hope EtH has learnt his lessons.
Omo, everybody was poor today that it's difficult to pinpoint any individual who did well. I think the setup today was either poor which Man city capitalised on or the players didn't understand the plan Eth had in mind.
I don't know if Man city would have any easier games than today's game this season
BlueRayDick: I just watch that Partey goal again; I thought they said our brother converted to Islam na.......Baba was doing cross sign after scoring the goal
Baba, after that his rape saga with his gf, e be like say bobo don turn back to Christian
Lush100: Saliba wasn't fully positioned to engage ricarlson, he was trying to reduce protect the general area becos there was at least a spurs player over the other end of the post (son and kane). Ricarlson might want to pass rather than shoot and they would have scored or Ricarlson takes his shot anyway
You can watch the replay again. Saliba was already making the move towards him to narrow the angle before Gabriel brought Richarlison down.
And as for the bolded, it's better to take any of those two options than a penalty especially taking the shot cos it's at his weaker foot. A penalty is 99% goal when be say na Kane dey take am. Any other option aside any rash penalty tackle is better.
Spy360: If he wasn't rash would it have stopped Richarlison from taking a clear shot at goal?
People say he had to stay on his feet as if it would have achieved a anything.
The issue is not about his rashness, but he did what he had to do. His rashness made him to block the first pass to Richarlison and the ball was cleared only for Xhaka to return the ball back into danger.
I can't imagine how Xhaka goes Scot free and Gabriel must be offered to the gods
Who told you I'm not blaming Xhaka?. I have always said that Xhaka is at fault for that goal. I'm not exonerating him at all. But as much as Xhaka is culpable, so is Gabriel too.
And I can't believe you feel that conceding a penalty is the best option in that situation. For crying out loud, Saliba was already positioned to engage him while Richarlison was even set with his weaker foot.
Nothing is worse than conceding a penalty in that situation at all. Nothing, and it's not agenda. That's senseless defending
mostob: There are four reasons Tomi and Tierney have been coming in ahead of Holding this season. First is Saliba is stronger than White. Second is because of fitness issue. Both of them came in against Spurs yesterday even when we're in control Third is rarely have we been under immense pressure to protect a 1-goal lead in a game so far this season. Fourth is to keep him fresh for UEL
I still insist playing Holding in a 3 man defence because of Haaland is not desperation. It is more of a counter measure. Haaland is a big threat and preparing to stop him by playing Holding is not desperation sir.
Bjteensdes24: Forget about praising him praising the team he flogged the thing is did Man U play better and keep possession in the 2nd half or not? Telling us its because he made subs like if those subs came in to score more goals too, what would they have said or they are not Man city player again
The quality of those subs especially in midfield was very stark. Weakening their Midfield by putting Palmer, Alvarez, Mahrez and Laporte (all are attackers except Laporte who's a CB) tilted the game to you guys favor. I mean, after that subs, who played DM? B. Silva?
The midfield was exposed from there. Remember those subs happened during the 6-1. Don't read much into that bro
Englishisamust: Man u really tried. It is not easy to play with city. If we look at it today. Man u didn't play counter football today. We played possession game. Even though we are just getting used to it. Hadn't been we play counter football, halland and foden wouldn't have scored that hatrick. Rashford doesn't have opportunity to run today. He only perform in counter football
Did you watch the game abi na sofascore app you use?
