grin grin I was right...

Because he played in Smartbank? Hope you know a lot of la Liga teams were after him but they couldn't meet Almeria's asking price. There is not much difference between him and Isak IMO

Kane and Umar Sadiq are the two players I know who can replace Laca perfectly and still give us something more. They will link up play, give you assists and still score.
Mehn I'm not impressed with Isak again. But you see Umar, I've never being impressed with him right from his u-17 abi u-20 days and even to his Olympic days. I'm not impressed with this his recent afcon game and the few games I've come across in his league (on few occasions tho).

He's not strong, easily falls, not a good goal scorer, can't pass and personally he isn't a smart player for me. Did I also add he has a poor first touch and that he's slow??

If there's another Sadiq Umar please bring him but not this one I know abeg!!

Maybe I'm viewing him wrongly but if another person have same thought as yours regarding him let the person talk abeg, cos me e go prefer I use balogun upfront than to buy him presently

Will you be comfortable if we sign a striker just to be giving assists?

I believe your answer will be no. So if that's the case then Laca is falling short of expectations. If Aubameyang had not left or if we had signed a replacement, we will not be having this discussion about Lacazette because he would be gone either out of the club or into oblivion.

He is doing his best and motivating the young lads, but how long will that last?

I repeat, once Nketiah starts scoring, Arteta will be done with Laca. By the way we play, he is supposed to be the end of the tactics, but he is missing chances and handing over scoring responsibilities to wingers who should be his support.

Laca will not see another season after this. Let's bet.
My position on Laca is clear, I wouldn't want him to extend for next season but that won't make me be blind to what he's doing.
Moreover I said in my previous post, as long as Laca presence helps us to fashion out chances, dominate teams, create and score goals and earn us top 4, I don't care if he finishes with 1 goal all season

You're the one obsessed with our striker scoring goal, I'm obsessed with my team dominating and winning games. I'll prefer my team to be man city where the goals are shared than to be a Tottenham where Kane is scoring 70% of their goals and yet they end trophy-less

So you mean Nketiah can never be better than Lacazette? This kind of pessimistic comments is what makes Arsenal fans look stupid before other fans. We never appreciate our own. When I said of Vlahovic, how good he is, you condemned my comments, that you preferred Isak. Now you are wishing we got him. I also mentioned Guendouzi, you and Sod attacked me. My football eyes are better than all in this thread. Only Roland can try.

Remember we have a deal on Balogun? I am desperately waiting for you to bow to me.
Lol, don't tell me comprehension is something difficult for you or that the urge to get a W is making you to be irrational. I never said Nketiah can't be better than lacazette, I said "presently" Laca is the best fit for the 9 role and is better than Eddie. If you mean I meant in Eddie lifetime (as if I know how his future will be) then calm down and read my previous post.

As for the 2nd bolded, we no dey do competition for this thread of who's the best or who isn't. We're all here to share knowledge, give our opinions, argue civilly and banter responsibly not to claim whose football knowledge is better than who. So I don't know where this bolded is coming from sincerely.

You people should stop disturbing urself.

So it is with this current crop of players arsenal will play like city? Na with all these our 10 naira players we go play Pep style and win without striker?

Like we all don't know how much Pep has spent to play the way he's playing? He practically did an overhaul of the whole team he met at city and keeps adding more and more every season. Can arsenal afford to do that? There lies in your answer.
grin grin

Na small small oo.
Who knows, maybe Arteta have good eyes in sighting players than pep. While pep have the idea, before he could get the players he wanted presently, he got some players wrong before landing on this. Maybe we'll do it once(with less willian mistake) instead of blowing money on wrong players. Not also ignoring our youth setup in case we can blood in anyone

The bold part of Ur post here seem to me as if u are making a point that Lacazette usually lays down passes like he did on Sunday and other players usually fail to convert those chances....

Well if that's what u are saying I don't agree with you. At least I've not seen him doing that often and Saka, Smith-Rowe or a Martinelli have been wasting his chances. Instead, it's Lacazette who has always been unfortunate missing chances the youngins provide for him. I still posted one of such of recent vs Wolves first leg.

Let's just disagree to agree, if he will be assist provider or pre-assist provider for others to score as a false 9 I don't mind, but that his old gidigbo style of play should not rear it's head again.
No problem bro. grin

I go fax laca not to do his old gidigbo style again grin

Nobody is talking enough about how Saka stole the ball off cleverly in the build-up to our second goal on Sunday. I mean the boy just had his eyes on the ball and did got it without committing a foul despite Cleverly's thearatics.

I want to see Martinelli do that too often considering he's fast, he can do damage to damage to opposition defence if he keeps his eyes on the ball too like and not always commit a foul anytime he marks an opposition player.
I mentioned that bolded on Sunday oo during my "thoughts on the game" but they banned me and deleted the post(wen using my main account).

I believe we could be doing that more, even martinelli did such too, only that it didn't result in a quick attack.

I'm just happy the lads are growing confident game by game and that's the most important. It's just up to the defence to improve cos it's been long we've kept a clean sheet

Spot on. What Lacazette is doing in this his new role is commendable when you consider he's no longer young and will be hard for him to fit in but never forget that Auba struggled in that role. It's not goals for arteta or modern coaches with their strikers, it's about how good you can help bring other players into play to help break an opposite press and Laca is doing just fine.

Where I'll say he has a problem is positoning himself and getting off his marker to score. He doesn't seem to have that ability but he's doing just fine for now in that false nine role. Come transfer window, Teta will get his preferred strikers
God bless you for this. Exactly what most people haven't realized. For modern coaches, goals is just a by product of the structure they've put in place. As long as that is being effectively carried out, they believe goals will always come. They're never worried that their strikers are on goal drought cos to them, everybody in midfield and attack is "strikers". Na only we the fans and press will be worried that so so striker haven't scored.

And I fully agree with your 2nd paragraph. Na why I just dey pray we'll get a more rounded striker next summer. Even tho laca isn't the rounded striker we all want but for now he's trying his best in that role which is helping us win games

It's really difficult to pick one but that Odegaard goal is just wow....the way he was able to sneak the ball back to Saka and his run up to receive the ball again is just heavenly grin grin

One person we need to really commend is Laca, baba just dey lay the ball for Dem kids to score. I will opine we give him like a year contract again at least till the new striker gel with the team.
Abeg oo... We need correct young striker(s) next season o. They'll gel, don't worry, after all Tomi, white, ramsdale or gel in defence at once. That striker will gel.

To be honest I need a taller and more rounded striker, to be making use of aerial ball when ever we go long. Laca hardly wins that

The players are actually the one losing concentration, the instruction is when ramsdale have the ball he pass to the next available player which we have done all season but this end of season is looking somehow
Even the goals we concede recently can be avoided
To be honest, the defence haven't been they great. I'm just happy that our midfield and attack is in form else na cry we for dey cry by now.

Gabriel mostly have been the one mostly at fault (in my opinion). Always fouling players unnecessarily and been off position sometimes

You people are missing the point. Laca gets the stick from fans including myself because he doesn't score like a striker should, doesn't create goals (which would be evident by assist records) and spends most time doing "gidigbo" with opposition defenders instead of running into space.

Now fast forward to Sunday he had 2 beautiful assists, didn't spend most of his time in midfield and getting into the the box only to misfire. Did u see anybody moan about his lack of goals in that particular match? No. Beacuse it was obvious to everyone what he brought to the table in that particular match.
I
If the coach has found a good use for him, then kudos to the coach for doing that and kudos to Lacazette for playing the role well. We only hope he gets better in the role and win us more games doing that.

Shebi when Arteta was appreciating Willian that was playing rubbish did the fans clap for him?
Laca doesn't score as a striker would I agree. In fact I've always said laca should improve on his goal ratio to chance he had. My issue is that laca helps in us dominating midfield too, most times partey or xhaka will stranded from who to pass to because our midfielders and wingers have already been marked out but laca will come into the midfield hole to give a passing option which partey mostly utilises. That itself helps us in having control and possession of the game and that's one of the aspects of the game laca brings, no coach won't appreciate that esp when the team is built on structure like arsenal. Another the you guys even didn't moan about laca was because we were clinical on Sunday not that he wasn't his misfiring self. He was just privileged that this time his chances was converted clinically. At least I'm glad you've acknowledged the fact that the coach have found a way for laca to help us win games, na spy I still dey wait for to acknowledge that too.
And as for Willian, we all know he brought nothing to the table, at least if anyone one call Willian useless during his time here I don't think anyone will defend in his stead

Lol.. Not everyone is obsessed with stats na, esp present/modern coaches. Most modern prioritize control and domination over whether a player scores or not, that's why Arteta will always appreciate laca for his part in making arsenal have control while fans will be killing themselves with laca not scoring.

I'll go with martinelli as the pick of the bunch. The build up to the goal all involving one-touch pass down to martinelli whose shot was also a one-touch hit was just so exquisite mehn!!

How?
. There was a ball he won outside the 18 yard box(near the throw in side), instead of him to clear his lines he was looking to pass, he was grateful that arsenal players quickly closed down the player that intercepted the pass, else na bash we fit dey bash Ramsdale. Another of such scenario occurred in this same match (I think he rushed the pass) that led to Dennis laying the interception for his player who his shot was later saved by Ramsdale.

But the first example I gave was what made me make that statement, cos even dem Allison or Ederson will clear their lines since they're far away from post, looking to pass at that instance to me smacks of overconfidence

if this current Arsenal go Anfield, na Arteta dem go spell. Forget it!!! The dumbest defending I’ve seen from Ben White this season was vs Relegation Watford.

Partey is a gem in the passing game than odegaard. I miss Tomiyasu. Cedric na clown.
Partey na the best creative passer for that team to be honest. Guy is just the complete package.

I'm just wondering how our new Cm(xhaka replacement will be). If that person is at the same wavelength in terms of technicality and speed of thought like Odegaard and Partey eh, then we'll have like one of the best midfield trios in EPL. What odegaard and saka is doing at our right hand side is what is lacking at our left hand side. I believe if that side is sorted too, then we'll even dominate more games. But then Xhaka has been better than the Xhaka we all know of previous seasons

She likes Martinelli but he was playing rubbish today.

I like Dennis. We can get him as Laca replacement. He knows how to work in tight spaces and is clinical and rugged. 40m will be too much sef and Osimhen na 100m due to how ucl giants are after him.

I hate the fact that teams smell blood that Arsenal spilled themselves and capitalize. Well Watford gave Man Utd tough time sha. I expected this to be a freescoring match.

For those wondering why i look the other way for Laca mata, i hope you’ve seen it now?

He just wants to keep gathering Assists instead of scoring, which is laughable. That’s not his job. But one can see he complained of not getting fed in the centre while he was subbed off.

And finally, Nketiah can’t offer what Laca offers this current team. The lad was intentional though. School boy mistakes from Gabriel eh!! Asif they’ve been on a jet lag. It seems they don’t really do well on the road.

Recurring problem: Saka gets the ball and three defenders rush to him with barely a red shirt opening up to give him options. Once odegaard is not that red shirt, its a sorry chance. He understands Martin well. But Arteta need do something about that. Like this guy drags 3 players to him!!!!!
