lol.. how many goals have Akpom scored this season?
Bossoflife25:
When I saw Akpom and Eletu, I just jumped and pass!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:10pm On Jan 20
Orban is not similar to Lookman. He is an out-and-out striker
Hardrive:
Some other players that should get a look in Chuba Akpom = Second striker back up for akor.
Bob Murphy omoregbe = Right wing option or possible replacement for Moses Simon.
Victor Eletu= Time to time call up to get used to the eagles setup.
Sani Suleiman= Replacement for Moses Simon
Gift Orban= Lookman's back up behind the 2 strikers.

Is a question of if he is on form or not. And if he is on form, is he better than the competition? Agreed, there should be no mention of Ihaenacho for now, but it should not be implied that he is finished, until it is obvious.

SymphonyRad:
This isn't about age, it's about recycling the same players we've known for years...Iheanacho has always been one of my favorite players but his work rate is poor and we've been through that route already with players with those attributes, no disrespect to senior man but I struggle to see anything new and interesting he can offer us at this point. Sometimes it's just best to close the chapter on certain things.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:00am On Jan 20
Bro Iheanacho is truly not old yet

SymphonyRad:
Una no dey rate Nigeria for this subforum sha, Onuachu as how? Did you watch how ridiculously bad he was vs Egypt in our 3rd place match grin...na so another person take mention Iheanacho making a comeback, in 2026? why not then bring back or unretire the likes of Ahmed Musa, Ighalo, Awoniyi and other players who are in the football twilight of their playing careers.. exciting football no dey sweet una otherwise we should be talking about building around Osimhen, Akor and then others like Gift Orban, Rafiu Durosinmi, Philip Otele, Sani Suleman, Njinmah, Femi Azeez, Shola Shoretire and if NFF are serious try court Ethan Nwaneri, Rio Ngumoha, George Ilenikhena, Emmanuel Emegha and other dual nationals who will elevate our attacking options to a 100... players like Onuachu and Moses Simon should be phased out respectfully in 2026, dem don try.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:59pm On Jan 19
Well said on Uche. I still believe he is the missing link in that midfield/team. No other player matches his profile.

Onuachu brings something different to the team. He is a proven goalscorer. It's just a matter of the team adapting his style when he is on the pitch.

TheSuperNerd:
Uche for Onyeka is also a very good call. Uche can also fill into the Iwobi role due to his strong ball carrying and creative instincts as well. He can be groomed to fill in either roles as he is naturally a deeplying and box to box midfield monster.
Funny thing about Uche is he can also cover the Lookman role as he is comfortable playing close to the box too.
Uche is a multifaceted weapon but covering for the Onyeka role seems like his best fit but keeping in mind he can be just as effective in the other roles.

As for the CF role, I am still not exactly sold on Onuachu hence why I say solid 4 options needed aside Osimhen and Akor.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:37pm On Jan 19
no we cannot. I mean we can but let's just do it for formality.

Hardrive:
Can we reach out to the Liverpool guy Rio ngumoha to see if he would be interested in playing for us.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:33pm On Jan 19
The problem with this monkey thing is that we also have white monkeys. Why can't blacks put those on their faces. Them go find another thing
BankyGee:
Moroccans have flooded Stanley Nwabali's Instagram comments section with monkey emojis and racist comments. Funny people.

33 sef. Because when one injure you still have solid depth

Mujtahida:
This should be the next phase of Chelle's plan. Now we have a football identity. We have our play. Next thing is to build a formidable squad. I don't want us to even have a first 11. We should have a first 22.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:26pm On Jan 19
Iheanacho issue na either fitness or lack of hunger -- most likely both. A friend said he is old. We know that is not true esp in this thread

Moniter0:
may God remember Iheanacho and restore his form. Having an in-form Iheanacho and Lookman for that role behind the two strikers will be a very big boost to the team. Any shot on target from an in-form Iheanacho is goal, plus his defense-splitting and pinpoint passes.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:23pm On Jan 19
Funny I was about to do something similar to this.

I will say Onyedika is a perfect replacement for Ndidi, if not better when not playing against high pressing teams. How about Uche to deputize Onyeka, considering strength and ball carrying abilities.

I think Chukwueze is the closest to Lookman in that role.

At CF, I will say we have solid 3. Onuachu should definitely be in.

I'm not sold on our wingers yet. Moses should be phased out soon.

TheSuperNerd:
Backline is sorted.

Nigeria can comfortably line up 2 different back fours now.

In midfield, we need to get the backup profiles sorted. Iwobi's backup still not sorted. Onyeka's too. Even Ndidi's as Onyedika should not be the one and only fallback option in Ndidi's absence as he still matures.

More Midfield options to consider specifically for the diamond setup are Akinsanmiro for Iwobi's role, David Moses of Slavia Prague for Onyeka's role, Nnadi and Dennis for Ndidi's role, and much more options touching all the midfield roles in the diamond.

In attack... Lookman needs a solid backup. The 4312/442 diamond sees Lookman sit in the hole behind the strikers but also has the license to roam across the entire final third seeing him pop up dangerously across in gaps centrally, in the halfspaces or wingwards.
Who steps into this role when Lookman sits it out for even one game? Chukwueze is an option but we need more.

The 2 man attack.. Osimhen and Akor... We need 4 solid options aside Victor and Adams. Badass options. CF combos that sync nicely and can possibly sync with the main man Victor.

The Project Solid 22 is on.

I like the way you answered this gbamatically

Dannyxy:
then don’t owe them, pay them.

All this talk of bleed this that, no one will bleed for you if you can’t do the basic.

Pay your players, pay your coaches stop eating their money . Stop excusing corruption stop excusing mediocrity on the blackmail of fake patriotism, show patriotism by actually taking care of those who bleed for you, smaller countries are not even this embarrassing.

Set up structures, build stadiums, get infrastructure, not hoping on the players so it every time on their, come to camp with their own money, stay in low budget hotels.

He no be saboteur. When he comes he puts his all. That should be the yardstick.

semid4lyfe:
Perish every thought of Okoye. He is a saboteur and should never think of dorning the Super Eagles jersey ever again.

He should focus on his club career.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 11:54pm On Jan 18
dey play..

He lost it because he was not the best to take it psychologically. you cheated.. players left the pitch, and now you have the burden to score whily your conscience dey worry you. His mind could not pick a spot, so he shot at the middle hoping the keeper will dive out of desperation. That is what happened.
joxxy01:
DIAZ threw that penalty away on purpose... Kudos to him..Coz It's the most logical thing to do at that point.

TheSuperNerd:
Honestly I appreciate Senegal's stubborness today.

The true essence of competition is knowing that fairness rules whether I lose or I win.

Morocco can host as many tournaments as they want to in Africa but if they wanna be Champions, they must compete fairly like every other team. The disgusting idea of "rewarding them" on the pitch must never be allowed to stand.

While this shows lack of patriotism, it also highlights the many successes our country will have achieved if our administrators were patriotic.

Sarsaparilla524:
Chukwueze in Hot Waters for Mocking His Teammates for Being Committed Despite Unpaid Allowances

A video has emerged of an interaction between Super Eagles player, Chukwueze and his teammates ahead of the match against Morocco at the ongoing Nations Cup.

In the viral clip, Chukwueze was seen mocking his teammates, Nwabali and Bassey, for risking their bodies to play despite unpaid allowances and bonuses.

In the clip, Nwabali said, “I never see anything,” and Chukwueze replied: “Una get mind sha o, you haven’t seen your money and you were defending with your life and delaying the time, you even almost inj¥red your knee.”

Many Nigerians are now criticizing him over his statement and linking it to his missed penalty kick during the match against Morocco.

They are claiming the video exposes a lack of respect for teammates’ commitment.

Okoye is still good for the team. Nwabali, Okoye, Uzoho. The depth is okay. We will see about Okwonkwo. We should go 3 deep in every position. Zaidu's bench position should be up for grabs as it stand. in CB Bassey, Ajayi, Fredericks, Ogbu. We need two more solid option. At RB, Alebiosu is okay as 3rd choice

Kog45:
NO O Okoye better pass him😩forget his erratic behavior on the field Nwabali na keeper o..Thank you Joebie
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:06pm On Jan 17
Well, Osayi is the most improved because he has been erratic for us. Ajayi has been okay for us, now very solid

TheSuperNerd:
Yes but Osayi reached insane stratospheric levels really high enough to say Aina has a real fight on his hands. It was almost like we were watching Aina's clone. Cant say same on Ajayi who has also had a really solid Afcon.

We did in the first few matches.

Not disputing that at all. But we have not missed Frederick in this AFCON.

TheSuperNerd:
Aina has a big fight on his hands.

But you see Frederick, he will bench Ajayi as always. A fit frederick is not gonna be kept waiting for others to show stuff. He brings a lot more to the defence at RCB than Ajayi.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:09pm On Jan 17
dem don already fight prove themselves. The other duo will need to show that they deserve to reclaim their shirts o
But all the same they are all class in their own right, and have different strengths. That is the depth we want in all the departments
Kog45:
Elder don show up,common provoking.Joebie nailed it with Osayi will give Aina a fight....Aina and Frederick just need to be fit and then they're free to go....na me dey support Osayi even when some don dey rate Alebiosu just cuz of Uganda match but know this I watched football with very open minds I don't loose sleep cuz of any player, haba since 80s
