Tijani Babangida involved in a ghastly motor accident killing his younger brother Ibrahim who was a junior international and a gold medalist in Japan 93.

Tijan in stable condition.

"The team is intact...

The news that first team members of Golden Eaglets failed MRI test is not correct. The team is intact.

Abuja football fans that have been watching the training sessions of the team and their friendly games can attest to this.

Please if you live in Abuja, feel free to come and watch the Eaglets train at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja stadium. You can find out.

The MRI test conducted by the NFF found few players on grade 5 and these players are out.

Grades 1 - 5 are pass grades, but the policy of NFF is that players on grade 5 will not be taken to the competition venue because they may fall into grade 6 when CAF conduct their own MRI test, due to the fact that the borderline between grade 5 and 6 is very little.

In order to avoid that risk, the NFF insists that only players from grade 1 - 4 will represent Nigeria at the International tournament.

Please, feel free to VERIFY.

The team played another friendly game today and defeated Turbo touch academy 2-0.

The 30 -man list will be made known before the team leaves Nigeria next week.

I don’t know why we keep fueling this Amuneke talk. It’s just like worrying about Peter Obi when he is not the president.

Let’s focus on Finidi and the qualifiers. His performance will speak.

Amedino99:
somehow the FIFA committee knowledge couldn't help him out while coaching in Egypt, Kenya and Sudan but apparently the players in the super eagles are the only one that can implement his ideas.

Na the coach dey decide pecking order. It’s our position to point out flaws (if any) in the order.

humility33:

Burn that your appraisal

Lookman currently is ahead of Kelechi in the pecking order even Boniface as far as the super eagles is concerned
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 7:02pm On Apr 29
I have opined that whoever coaches us will need to have the magic wand for us to qualify. There are valid concerns surrounding Finidi, but if Amuneke had been appointed and he fails it will not help his case in future. Let Amuneke start on a clean slate. Finidi has no excuse. He’s been with this team. We’ve seen Rohr and Peseiro also huff and puff during friendlies. So let’s also cut Finidi a slack. My greatest fear is his man management.

TheSuperNerd:
Be honest, how do you feel about this appointment? We have seen him in the two friendlies but how do you feel about this?

Amuneke should not assist. He got the hammer when Eguavoen failed to qualify us. Amuneke should start on a clean slate as the main man. I would go for Nsien to assist Finidi.

jihday:
UPDATE:

According to my source, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have shortlisted three names as a potential assistant(s) to Finidi George;

* Emmanuel Amunike.

* Daniel Amokachi.

* Michael Nsien.

As seen on Twitter
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 6:50pm On Apr 29
Well the Sports ministry may have a bigger say then. But like some have said, Amuneke should get active because I believe he will still get the job someday.

viccy12:

Honestly, I wanted Amunike and if Finidi fails they will return to these mediocre foreign coach and Amunike will not be considered.
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 6:49pm On Apr 29
That was implied. But good highlighting it.
TheSuperNerd:
Finidi and the NFF will both get the hammer. Not just the NFF. None will be spared if we fail so we better not fail.

Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 6:48pm On Apr 29
I agree with that. And I believe he will get the job someday proving he merits it.
AndSunGorilla:

Amuneke should try and get a job even if it's on the local scene as Finidi has done. His results will make a more compelling case as it did for Keshi.
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 6:00pm On Apr 29
If Finidi qualifies us, he should continue.

I NFF fails they can’t blame anyone of sabotage. Finidi is their choice. And they had a free hand to appoint any foreign coach as long as they could pay the coach grin

lbrichman2:

All your submissions notwithstanding, we are already in a precarious situation as far as the world cup qualifiers are concerned
We would need nothing short of a miracle to qualify..

I think Finidi's appointment is more of a stop gap
If he fails to qualify us for the mundial, he would probably be sacked
Some persons mentioned sabotage and this whole situation looks and smells like sabotage, except the miraculous happens

I don't even think qualifying us for the world cup would keep him on the job
They may still bring in a foreign coach that has been their utmost dream ever since ..
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 5:51pm On Apr 29
Finidi to me is a better choice playing safe. He’s been longer with the team. So has no excuse to fail. Let Amuneke prove himself from a clean slate when he gets the job someday.
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 5:49pm On Apr 29
Same here too over two friendlies. Giving me Jpes vibes friendly-results wise. Let’s see what he will do in his first competitive tie.

viccy12:
I have no confidence in Finidi but I hope he proves me wrong
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 5:27pm On Apr 29
Good riddance until Sadiq can prove himself, but Finidi must sit up and respect the likes of Lookman. Play the best players.

No be laugh matter. If Finidi fails NFF will take the hammer. This is not about Amuneke because Amuneke will ge the job someday. Let’s hope we qualify.

charlesemeka85:
so with the lobbying and protest Amuneke to still get the job?

No serious nation will rate Jpes highly.

komekn:

I was wondering why he collapsed and almost fainted season is coming to an end and they are getting relegated and he scored a good goal 🥅 for the first time this season. Unfortunately they got beat 3-1 and have remain in relegation since the season started.

Did he faint in disbelief 😱 l can't believe I scored my first goal all season.🤯 🤯

He scored another one in the Segunda Division last season.

Wow he is so prolific

why 🤔 do you think he keeps getting signed by poor quality clubs with poor quality playes that pay peanuts ❓

I want to see Nwakali get signed by a team where he won’t be looking for another club again sooner to snap him up. I wanted to see him settle down for once in a team that means business.

TheSuperNerd:

Komekn looking deeply into the video to pick out another "heavy deflection" so that he can discredit Nwakali again. 😁😁

Well my question is according to the reports the Sports minister asked NFF to look inwards. Same report said they presented Finidi, Amuneke and in that order of preference. Why does the NFF need the ministry’s nod if they can afford to pay Finidi?

elyte89:

I think d nff prefers finidi to take over if Dey re going local but d sport minister wants amuneke according to what we av been reading so far
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 3:52pm On Apr 27
What I’m not understanding is this. NFF can’t appoint their preferred foreign coach because they don’t have the funds. Why do they still need the Sports Ministry’s say for an indigenous coach pick. Abi dem no fit afford Finidi too?

So “he should not interfere” (that’s if I even said so), how does it count as an achievement — interfere or not? Olodo!

Its better to use a quality reference point. His predecessors in the last 10 years were a big joke.

So what has he been effective doing at least?

lovewins:

He's minister of sports not minister of football. My assesment is based on sports in general. Of course he hasn't don't any exceptional person se but he's been very effective and I was literally comparing him with his predecessors hence the "best in a decade" reference.
Sports / Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 3:41pm On Apr 26
Wetin the minister don achieve? Feel free to compare him to anybody but don’t make it seem like he has done anything yet.

lovewins:

This story has been debunked. The minister so far has been the best we've had in over a decade.
