SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:05pm On Jan 17
No, Aina wouldn't just walk back in, in my opinion. Even Fredericks wouldn't just walk back in. Ajayi has been very solid.. he has speed damn. I'm not saying Osayi and Ajayi are better but they are near perfect doing their job.

lbrichman2:
I said it earlier
Aina will not walk into this 11 easily
Osayi will give him a good fight
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:02pm On Jan 17
he may have moved it slightly, but it was natural because he was getting ready for a jump. I think the referee took the easier decision. But that wasn't an intentional elbowing

lbrichman2:
I believe because that defender was challenging for the ball
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:59pm On Jan 17
Osayi and Aina, totally different profiles but, at this point, I will say they are at par generally speaking.

oloriooko:
how was that goal a foul?
Onu didn't throw his elbow rather the player ran into his elbow while trying to ready himself for a jump
i wonder how useful VAR is

Osayi to me is the most improved player in this squad and he deserves some accolades
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:57pm On Jan 17
Onuachu is tall. his natural arm position will definitely be where it was. Did he swing his elbows? That is the big question.
lbrichman2:
Tough luck
But I agree with the call
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:55pm On Jan 17
bro.. that you even went to see it on the VAR screen and still ruled that goal out. I was talking to my wife yesterday and I told her that the big teams who felt hard done by, by officiating should send their home based teams in future AFCONs as a protest. I will say focus on the main prize which is the world cup.. We are not trying to settle scores with other African teams. Let's go make big statement at the world stage until CAF put their acts together

Some folks felt Chukueze should have come in earlier against Morocco
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:43pm On Jan 17
lol... AFCON is a joke.. how was that intentional elbowing.. the opponent ran onto his elbow
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:09am On Jan 17
That Nwaiwu guy is better than Awaziem

Mujtahida:
Awaziem was brought in because of the injury to Benjamin. He's been on the fringes of the team for a long time. I'm not sure he was even at the last Afcon.

Ajayi is still part of the team. He performed well during this Afcon.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:25am On Jan 16
IMHO, our current back 4 now have a solid chemistry. I am not denying the fact that Aina and Fredericks will give us better options when they move forward to support the attack. It would be a blessing to have them back. Those are the kind of players you need when you are talking of plan A and B, regardless of who starts. We have depth in defense. As soon as we can say the same for the midfield, we are set for the world stage.

TheSuperNerd:
I am just smiling at the prospect of Benjamin Frederick's return to the RCB role in Chelle's 4312/442 diamond. Chisos! It is earth-quaking.

In this setup, this pair would easily morph into possibly the most press resistant CB pair in Africa. We will invite your press and beat through and around u like u dont exist.

You have these two and buildups takes a new dimension from the back as Benjamin can not only intercept danger early but also drive into space and break lines himself.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am already in 2027 Afcon. I can see the first game play out.

This team is in its prime. They will touch the final in 2027 as long as Chelle is retained. By 2027, Chelle would be nearly 2.5yrs in the Super Eagles job. The Soaking will be complete before Afcon 2027.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 4:33pm On Jan 15
the plan B was to prevent Morocco from scoring? I'm not scapegoating. i've had my fair share of takes here. Chelle's plan A is top notch. But that's where the learning comes. He has improved his game management though.

lbrichman2:
What you saw yesterday was the plan B
Our second half and even extra time was better..
Give that game another 30 mins, Morocco would still not have scored
If it wasn't a knockout game, we would have left with 0:0 against a superior opposition
Hardly a terrible result

But as usual, Nigerians always look for a scapegoat
So yes, continue to scapegoat the team and Coach
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:48am On Jan 15
o pari at the bolded
owbabs:
I just saw the highlights. We were okay defensively but we could have played better when attacking.
Nigerian midfielders were isolated more than often.
Ball control was a problem the players were not settled. The touch wasn't there. Seems the occasion affected them in a way but kudos they held their own for the most part.
In transition our players too long to make obvious passes before they were closed down.
The moroccans were sharper at intercepting pass and pressed to prevent our build up play. They were more technical and had the better build up play.
Our attackers were not at their best and struggled to find rhythm all day.
We managed to hold them despite playing them at home in that atmosphere.
The bottom line is if we played 50% of our normal game we would have beaten them. The performance for an attacking perspective was poor. Almost nothing clicked. The coach needs to find a plan B to attack coherently when the other team had figured a way to stem plan A.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:45am On Jan 15
it beats me that Christantus Uche didn't make this squad

TheSuperNerd:
Progress the ball and beat the press is one... but there is a third element. Physical aggression. These midfielders must be badass aggressive as well as technical.

I know I am a brain over brawn football lover but I prefer a player that can do both with immaculate balance. Even if the balance is decent, I go still manage and build on am.

This is why it hurts seeing Christantus Uche used as a striker at Palace. That is one guy to put in the middle and come up against such a system. BEASTLY strong, technical, progressive, and also not slow. A Yaya profile.

Being Progressive and Technical like Onyedika is no longer enough. If you are not Physically aggressive, na minus be that.

This is where Onyedika really failed today. He should have stepped up his "aggression meter" to ensure his other qualities shone through against the press.

No way that Moroccan press will bully or push back a midfield of Powerhouse yet technical midfield players.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:43am On Jan 15
Me I just wan know if Chelle go stay, and what we will do next. Also status of our petition to FIFA. Other than that, we continue to build
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:27am On Jan 15
The midfield remains the engine room. if your opponent wins the midfield your explosive striker will have less chances.

Chelle stuck to his winning formula but Morocco countered it, yet they couldn't still beat us in regulation time. kudos to the boys.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:25am On Jan 15
not during training na.. You no fit look body language before the pk shootout?

b
Mujtahida:
Ohhh jeeez. Read what you wrote! Haba na. The body language would have been seen by the coach in training? Damn!

It is precisely because he was practicing that he was brought in to take the Pk. You guys can say whatever you want, I maintain my stand that he deliberately thwarted the team.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:23am On Jan 15
He didn't abandon it. He just could respond with an alternative plan. But he will get better.

TheGoodJoe:
Chelle chickened out and abandoned his philosophy. In this game he did not try.

people's comments? those are just people who cannot see positives in the game. bitter lot.

Modified
I watched it. That body language could have been seen before the picks where done. A coach is suppose to also consider the psychology of the players. But saying he wanted to sabotage the team. hell no

Mujtahida:
Go online and read people reach the exact conclusion as me. It's unmistakable from his body language. Did you watch the Pk?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:15am On Jan 15
The formation already showed what Morocco set out to do. which is crowd the midfield which had been our engine room. Chelle is still learning, he will get even better. Hopefully he stays
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:12am On Jan 15
no logic in what you are saying. In one AFCON you won the SF via PK, in the other you lost via PK in the SF. Is that the only yardstick you use to compare teams ?

Blueelf:
Semi final is better than final??

Loll bro. You sed you no use your full cheat talk am
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:09am On Jan 15
how u take know say e dey deliberate?
why will any player do that deliberately?

Mujtahida:
Onuachu was brought in to take Pk. Chukwueze too. Onuachu scored. Chukwueze deliberately thwarted our progress. If he had scored, we would have won this match.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 12:09am On Jan 15
bro.. why we dey try find scapegoat?

Justice505:
This is wickedness at its peak how can you sabotage a whole team because of playing time, yobo as a captain escorted the super eagles to win the afcon in South Africa he didn't play much he won the cup

Chukwueze have silver and bronze already if you're not getting game time why sabotage the team why not tell the coach you don't want to play, this is wickedness am just hurt.

Onyedika needs to be decisive quickly. He is spending too much time on the ball. you don't play like that in a high pressing game
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:47pm On Jan 14
