I told him they generally accepted view among historians and archeologists. This is common among history and many other subjects but there's always a generally accepted view among experts. Few experts tend to disagree but most of them agree with a common theory.

That's what I'm telling you, there are strong documents and archaeological evidence that proves the Vikings were the first to discover America. The Holiday is more a political Thing and at that time it was made a holiday not enough evidences were available. Also some politicians have their beliefs of what "discovery" means. Holidays are a thing for politicians not historians. Go and read up, it is generally accepted that historians and archeologists take the Vikings as the ones that discovered Americas
