Health / Re: COVID-19 Testing In South Africa & Other African Countries by joeluv: 2:59am On Apr 13, 2020
America’s cases came from Europe. The strains found in most parts of America are same with Europe. Mind you, millions of Americans and Europeans travel back and forth these two continents each day. Thus, very difficult to stop a spread without a travel ban.
jaxxy:

Based on our level of exposure to the virus in a way i'm happy we haven't done so many test. With all the news we hear about contaminated probes or test kits and many other stories I'm definitely not in a hurry to do no test. If we ask how many nairalander wud like to do test I'm sure only very few will especially since they dont feel sick or show symptoms to raise concerns.

I also think tests causes panic and fear and that's brings with it different sets of issues. I wud like America to analyse how this virus spread so fast over there to the point people felt it had probably been there even b4 China bt was thought to be normal flu. This started only we people started getting tested and people suddenly started getting hospitalised as more test were being done and then dying. I'm trying to play out the scenariosin my head and it seems too strange unless u can see the clear lapses which lead to a massive spread from an index case or even multiple index cases.

I can even understand Italy's situation better than America.

People just want NCDC to do random testing. It does not work like that. There has to be a population of interest at this stage to test. We are yet to see clusters of deaths or clusters of people with respiratory illness to suggest mass testing is needed. Let’s hope and pray it does not spread further. The more it spreads and the more confirmed cases. The more people to test (which NCDC ain’t capable of). This is why social distancing is very important at this stage to totally flatten the curve. Then track and test suspected cases as they come up.
lagdmark:

Did anybody dye in family and the government did not tell you. Or did any one on this forum complain of a missing member of the family. You people just talk trash sometimes. In this digital age how come many died and family members, friends and colleagues didn't raise alarm on social media.

All am saying now at this stage u can only test a particular population of interest. We need to ramp up our testing. But at this stage not mass testing. We need to make sure evrybody in the population of interest shld be tested.
babytoun:

You now know more than all other countries that have identified rapid testing as a key measure to stop the spread?
Health / Re: COVID-19 Testing In South Africa & Other African Countries by joeluv: 11:45pm On Apr 12, 2020
The thing about testing is that at this stage you don’t just test at random, so they can’t test more than the population of interest at this point. We are just lucky it’s yet to spread to poor area. Whn this spreads to poor areas u wld visibly see death clusters. We still need to improve on our testing.

Pained ke?

Do I sound pained?

I feel embarrassed on your behalf not pained.

Do you guys even listen to yourselves anymore?

In one breathe, you are crying marginalization and in the other you are God's gift to the world as you have developed all of Nigeria ('cept your home), you have developed Africa and currently developing America, Asia and Europe.

It gets tedious and cringe worthy.

There's nothing to be pained about here.

You guys should stop already.

Great. However what Nigeria needs now is serious wealth distribution and improvements in small and medium scale enterprises (Agriculture, manufacturing, services, tourism, ICT). These sectors would spur up the economy if and only if the SME’s are doing well. We don’t want a case where 5% controls the wealth of the country. That’s just a ticking time bomb. Government needs to do more when in comes to wealth redistribution and economically empowering the lower class. Once they lower class has abit of financial power. The SME’s would do better.

How it misplaced priority? It’s a bridge with lights as simple as that. It beautifies the city. We need to pay attention to aesthetics in Nigeria
ArcFresky:
We have misplaced priorities in this country.
1.Scarce resources is being used to build a meaningless project

2. We are praising the governor for building such a meaningless project with his money abi?

3. The governor is happy he has impacted in the life of ebony people by building a glass whatever, that adds no economic value to the life of ebony people.
