NIGERIA, A LIVING LIE BUT HER UNITY IS NEGOTIABLE BY JP NYAM
Following through history books and the growing concerns in Nigeria today, it’s my humble submission to say that at the time of independence, majority of the people we claim to be our founding fathers were just excited about going to witness the signing of self autonomy in England. So excited they were that they never stopped to ask what will be the core value for which all hands would be on deck and all necks might be willing to be slaughtered if need be. The thoughts of our founding fathers was said to be centred on the event and not the aftermath of the occasion as is just true all their posterity today, stressing that, “it is the reason we hardly mourn the past, neither do we make efforts to avoid future disaster”.
This has clearly shown that our approaches are always reactive and never proactive. We spend our time, strength, resources and days reacting to incidents and never planning on how to move forward. The only thing left in our hands is but the love to display how powerful we are in reactive measures with no trace of responsibility. With our religious zeal, corruption has denied even the best of our religious heroes. We profess religion more than any nation yet we live side by side with corruption more than many nations in the world. Many people are of the opinion that the entity called Nigeria is a living lie.
It is wrong to say the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable as depicted by many past and present leaders. It’s bloody well negotiable and we had better negotiate it, not even at meetings, not at conferences but everyday in our conduct towards one another. According to one of the legal luminary whose submission is captured in the FEAT publication, in fact, the so called Nigeria created in 1914 was a complete fraud. It was created not in the interest of the people but in the interest of the British. And what were the structures created? The structures created were as follows; Northern Nigeria to represent England; Western Nigeria like Wales; Eastern Nigeria to be like Scotland. In British structure, England has permanent majority in the House of Commons and there is no way Wales can ever dominate England neither can Scotland dominate Britain. But they very shrewd. They would allow a Scottish man become a prime minister, they would allow a Welsh man to become prime minister but the fact remains that the actual power rests in England.
That was what Luggard created in Nigeria, a permanent majority for the North, (as claimed that one of the son of the advantaged in the person of Sir Ahmadu Bello, the then Sardauna of Sokoto was said to have approached the British Administrative Secretary and remarked, “if you want us ‘the North’ to be part of this Nigeria you have in mind then we want 50 percent of the membership of the National Assembly”. This indeed was granted, the census figure was also doctored and the North was granted a simple majority and that became one of our major problems and nightmare as a Country. The population figure of the North is also a fraud. Analysing critically, if you look at the map of West Africa, starting from Mauritania to Cameroun and take the population of each country as you move from the coast to the savannah the population decreases. Or conversely, as you come from the desert to the coast right from Mauritania to Cameroun, the population decreases. The only exception throughout the zone is Nigeria. Nigeria is the only zone whereby you go from coast to the north the population increases and you come from the north to the coast the population decreases.
Recently, Asari Dokubo has been described by many people to be a mad man when he said, “The amalgamation of 1914 was an illegality and anything built in the 1914 amalgamation that gave birth to Nigeria is a nullity. So, let’s have a Sovereign National Conference then, we will know ourselves”. Even before the recent calls for restructuring by prominent Nigerians probably against the backdrop of renewed agitations by militants in the oil rich Niger-Delta, and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the South-South people have confessed that the amalgamation is evil, satanic and wicked. The South-west declared that the amalgamation was satanic, wicked, injurious and painful. The South-east has been attempting to break off the yoke of the amalgamation off their necks. The Middle-belters have already confessed that the amalgamation is deceit, selfish, wicked and godless. What then are we waiting for? After all, one cannot fail to see reasons why after the wishes of Sardauna were granted by Luggard, Chief Obafemi Awolowo came out in 1956 and remarked, “Nigeria is only a geographical expression to which life was given by the diabolical amalgamation of 1914 ..............”.
Obviously the entity call Nigeria is a living lie, if the different nationalities that make up the entity must co-exist then there has to be a forum where the basis of their co-existence would be clearly defined. We can begin with the implementation of the March, 2014 National Conference under a proper referendum and further plan how our future together, geographically, politically, economically, socially, religiously and all what not should be.
So, I am on the side of those who say that we must do everything to avoid disintegration. The above is key.

Mr OP you fail to tell us what material (s) was used to build the warehouse, it may be steel, RC or both, it may also be timber. Shocking, come on mr, read up I blamed it on the minister and CBN governor. By the way the DG has explained with reasons, its not his duty to pay but to ensure and follow up, that he has done. By the way, I said Buhari led administration. Everything falls back to him, or is the dictum 'there are no bad followers but bad leaders'. Or has he stopped being president? Did he not promise to improve corps members allowance? The bad thing is that he travelled in company of the honourable minister.

This is most unfortunate, how long will it take to approve/disburse the allowance for a scheme that has been ongoing for quiet some time now.

Because I'm very sure that the minister, Federal workers have all received their pay. Then the small change to keep corps members that have come for some 'bunkum' compulsory assignment suddenly becomes unavailable. Previous regimes have never failed to pay promptly these allowances.
The Buhari/APC led administration has actually cancelled all promises except BH cleansing aback, from increase in corpers allowance to delay in payment, from no queue to very long queues, light to no light, $1=#1 to #320, economy now in shambles. Yet Ajala has refused to take a break from world tourism to tackle the inferno in his house.

The level of suffering in the country is becoming extremely dangerous. APC scammed Nigerians with the word change now we all are paying dearly for it.
No light, No fuel, bad economy, a joke of a budget, the Ajaokuta steel industry that can revive the economy left in shambles.

This is just a 9% increase on a currency that fluctuates about 10% from week to week....The risk is too high for any investment to start saving in Naira, (plus Naira is not a reserve currency) for a mere 9% return at the end of each year, when he/she stands a chance of loosing almost 10% from week to week (or month to month), I do not see the risk-reward ratio tipping the scale in favor of saving in Naira or keeping Naira, which is the intended objective behind this policy.

If Naira were stable, then it would have been plausible to assume that, we will see those benefits, but with the current condition, it appear; the negatives are more likely to follow.

True talk!
If the CBN wants to really save the Naira it must come up with better policies. This is just no no for me. The current free fall of Naira in the parallel market is difficult to control since internationally the FOREX market activities can't be regulated. So it has to come up with poliicies that will affect or effect changes to MDBs in Nigeria that do business in such markets, increase in CRR is not the only way.

This new policy may have positive and negative effects.
Firstly,
If the reserve requirement is raised, banks will have less money to loan out and this effectively reduces the amount of capital in the economy, therefore lowering the money supply. It will mean less money for investment and spending, and would stunt the growth of the economy. It would also mean that banks earn less interest and could see their share prices fall. Lowering the reserve requirement will have the opposite effect; banks will be able to lend more which would increase money supply and stimulate economic growth.

Secondly,
Raising reserve requirements can cause an increase in currency value because when banks are restricted in the amount that they can lend out, they may charge borrowers a higher rate of interest. This is bad news for borrowers, but good news for savers who can benefit from a higher rate of return on their savings. If more capital enters the economy to benefit from those higher interest rates, the value of the currency is likely to increase.

I don't know if we're to smile or cry or do both. I don't want to hear that there was a country. God help us!

What does APC really want? The level of killings in the state and political thuggery has shown only selfishness and poor governance.

The Independent National Election Commission (INEC) has declared the Abia North Senatorial election inconclusive.

The electoral commission had said that the results from the four wards are higher than the number of accredited voters.

Please, mr. President kindly implement the 2014 CONFAB, that document proffered very good panacea to help stop the killing by these Fulanis. It gave good insights on grazing paths and ranches, and if we're not careful we may never curb this menace.

Femi Aribisala: APC Is The Worst Thing to Happen to Nigeria’s Democracy

There are so many things wrong with the PDP. It is an understatement to insist it is a very imperfect political party. But for everything that is wrong with the PDP, the APC is worse. It is ludicrous to pretend the APC is squeaky-clean while the PDP is corrupt when a large chunk of APC members were formerly in the PDP. Today, both the Senate president and the speaker of the House of Representatives, for example, are former PDP members. These turncoats did not become new creations when they crossed over to the APC.
When queried about why APC’s so-called anti-corruption campaign is mostly directed at PDP opposition members, the APC party chairman John Odigie-Oyegun insists the PDP has been the party in power for the last 16 years. This is disingenuous because the APC and its legacy parties have also been in power for the last 16 years. ACN/APC has ruled Lagos for the last 16 years. Let EFCC beam its anti-corruption searchlight on that state and let us see if it will not throw up a cesspool of corruption.

If EFCC can probe Sule Lamido who was governor of Jigawa for eight years, what prevents it from probing Rotimi Amaechi who was governor of Rivers State also for eight years? Even if we were to accept the ridiculous APC treatise that there is a corruptible seed in the PDP which immediately disappears when a PDP member becomes an APC member, then it becomes necessary to probe Amaechi in the years he was still a PDP governor, before he became a new creation of the APC. The same would apply, for example, to Rabiu Kwankwaso as PDP governor of Kano before he switched to the APC.

Jonathan’s statesmanship

To win the last presidential election, APC had to match the political rigmaroles of the PDP. Indeed, APC prevailed because it was ultimately more unscrupulous. APC successfully exaggerated the vote in its areas of strength in the North-West far more than the PDP did in the South-South and the South-East. In the process, twice the number of people were alleged to have voted in old Kano (Kano and Jigawa) than did in Lagos. So meticulous were Kano voters that they did not void a single ballot out of over two million votes cast. If you believe that, you can believe anything.

In the final analysis, APC won the election because of the humanity and political maturity of one man: Goodluck Jonathan. Presidents don’t lose elections in Nigeria. The Nigerian president possesses the power and resources to manipulate any and every election to his advantage. Make no mistake about it, Goodluck Jonathan wanted to win the last election. However, he did not want to win at all costs. He lost the election because, from the get-go, he was prepared to lose for the sake of advancing the democratic process in Nigeria.


The evidence is there for all to see. Out of five elections conducted between 2011 and 2015, the PDP lost four, in spite of being the party in power at the centre. It lost in Ondo. It lost in Edo. It lost in Anambra. It lost in Osun. It only won in Ekiti. In effect, the presidential election was paradoxically the icing on the cake. The PDP not only lost that election, Jonathan accepted defeat even before the final results were tallied, in spite of all the rigmarole that attended it. He did not ask for dogs and baboons to be soaked in blood.

APC winner-take-all

It should be clear to Nigerians today that we are now in the grip of a very different captivity in the APC. During the campaign for the last elections, APC members were lavish with threats of fire and brimstone should their party lose. They told Nigerians in no uncertain terms that if they lost, they would not accept defeat but would even form their own kangaroo government. Now that the APC has captured power at the centre, they are hell-bent on prosecuting the principle of winner-takes-all.

Today, the APC not only controls the presidency, it prevails in 22 of the 36 states in Nigeria. The PDP, on the other hand, controls only 13 states; with the remaining solitary state held by APGA. However, the APC is not satisfied with this supremacy. It is determined to contest the verdict of the election virtually everywhere it lost. While it claims the 2015 election was free and fair where it won, it insists the election was crooked where it lost. In short, the APC is determined to have its cake and eat it too.

Immediately President Buhari was elected, he started preparing the grounds for 2019. This involves releasing EFCC dogs against 2019 presidential hopefuls. During the congratulatory visit of a delegation from Benue, he said jokingly: “I beg Senator Akume and the governor-elect not to make my 2019 attempt too difficult.” Jokes often reveal true intentions. Otega Emerhor, APC governorship candidate in Delta State, spoke the mind of the APC during a congratulatory visit to the newly-elected Buhari. He told the president:

“As you are aware, Delta State, along with Akwa Ibom and Rivers, are rich in oil resources and PDP is determined to hold on to these states at all cost to utilise the huge revenue base of these states to re-launch itself to national reckoning. It is, therefore, strategic for APC and your administration to pay particular attention and to assist us put in place modalities to break the stronghold of PDP in Delta and the other states.”

Cash-cow states

This agenda has been executed with single-minded APC rascality. APC challenged the outcome of elections in the oil-rich Southern states. It then embarked on an onslaught of intimidatory attacks on the judiciary to make it fall in line with its agenda. To ensure it prevailed, some tribunal chairmen were summarily dismissed, replaced with more maleable choices. Some cases were even transferred to APC’s presidential stronghold in Abuja on spurious grounds. So doing, APC secured the verdicts it wanted. The tribunals cancelled the elections in Rivers, Abia and Akwa Ibom, requiring them to be rerun.

However, APC met a firewall in the Supreme Court. The apex court refused to be intimidated, in spite of President Buhari’s loaded statement in far-away Ethiopia that the Nigerian judiciary is his major “headache” in the fight against corruption. It overturned the doctored verdicts of the appeal courts in Rivers, Abia and Akwa Ibom, restoring the mandate of their PDP governors. So doing, the “Supremes” immediately became public enemy number one of the APC.

APC Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, put his foot in his mouth when he could not hide his displeasure that big fish Rivers State slipped away from APC’s greedy clutches. He said: “I still find the judgment on the Rivers State governorship election totally astonishing. There is something fundamentally wrong in the judiciary. We have lost very important resource-rich states to the PDP. No matter how crude oil prices have fallen, it is still the most important revenue earner for the country.”

There was nothing wrong with the judiciary when it ruled in favour of the APC in Yobe, Ogun, Lagos and Benue. But when it ruled against the APC in Rivers, Abia and Akwa Ibom, something became fundamentally wrong with it. The truth is that the issue of the legality of the usage of the card reader as opposed to the manual register had been established in the case of Agbaje versus Ambode in Lagos. To that extent, the tribunals in the South-South erred in law by not using the same principle in subsequent cases. Instead they agreed to kowtow to APC pressure.


For a party that insists it is anti-corruption and claims to be prosecuting the PDP for using public funds to fight elections, Oyegun revealed APC interest in the South-South states is because they are resource-rich. This is the same language we heard from APC legislators when they were fighting themselves silly over “juicy” chairmanship positions in the National Assembly. If APC were not a past-master at using public funds to finance elections, why would it be so determined to control the resource-rich South-South oil-states by hook or crook?

Manipulating 2019

The APC is not only determined to winner-take-all today. It is equally determined to winner-take-all the 2019 election at all costs. Jonathan is from the South-South; a minority region. Nevertheless, he chose a Northerner, Attahiru Jega, to be INEC chairman. Many will tell you that was a major blunder that cost him re-election. Compare that scenario to what we have now. Buhari is from the North-West; a majority region. Nevertheless, he has chosen another Northerner to be INEC chairman.

When Jonathan chose Jega, he chose him to great national approbation. But when Buhari chose Amina Zakari as Acting INEC chairman, he chose her to widespread public uproar. The Nigerian Constitution does not make any provision for the appointment of an Acting Chairman of INEC. Buhari is from the North-West: Zakari is from the North-West; violating the convention that the president and the INEC chairman should come from different geopolitical zones.

Moreover, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai revealed that Zakari’s late father, the former Emir of Kazaure, was married to Buhari’s elder sister. Yakassai further disclosed that Buhari spent a significant part of his formative years in the home of Zakari’s father. This makes Zakari’s choice as INEC Acting Chairman totally inappropriate. Certainly, her appointment could not have arisen out of the president’s commitment to INEC impartiality.

This inclination continued with the appointment of a substantive INEC chairman. Again, President Buhari chose Mahmud Yakubu, another Northerner from Bauchi in the North-East. In the few months Yakubu has been INEC chairman, the organisation has become infamous for conducting inconclusive elections at the promptings of the APC.

APC’s strong-arm political tactics are deleterious to Nigerian democracy. Its contempt for the rule of law and its blatant violation of judicial verdicts are anti-democratic. Its witch-hunt of the PDP ensures it will not agree to lose in 2019, for fear of being paid back in its own coin. It also ensures that another Jonathan will think twice before agreeing to accept defeat in the future, learning from the fate of the PDP at the hands of the APC.

The evidence suggest the APC is far more interested in securing its political future than it in promoting the growth and development of democracy in Nigeria. In view of the milestone achieved in 2015 as a result of Jonathan’s gentlemanly departure, APC represents the worst thing that has happened to Nigerian democracy in recent times.

God loves a cheerful giver. He blesses those who do His work

I remember back then in school, I stayed in the hostel. There were these kids that come around to work for money, 'almajiris', I made it a duty to give 1 person each day #100. Particularly, amongst them was a very small boy around 8years of age, I became fond of him so he was free to ask me for anything. One day he asked me for a school bag, I didn't have any to offer neither do I've money to get him one, but in the end I got him one. Few days after I met him, I inquired why he didn't go to school only for him to say he was sent away because of fees. How much I asked, he told me #500, initially I doubted him thinking maybe he lied so I can give him money, but there was so much pity, pain and suffering in his eyes, I believed him. I was dead broke then but I imagined, here is a boy willing to go to school but has no means, so I made the sacrifice. Days later I gave him the money. I stopped seeing him, so I forgot about him. I came back from a blasting lecture, exams was approaching and I was broke as a broken pencil only to find a woman and the boy in front of my room. The woman is his mother, she came to thank me for what I did. Though they were muslims, the widow prayed for me, I saw sincerity in her prayer. The thing is the next day I was sent #50k from someone I least expect, I had the best semester ever.

So, I said I'll do more not just for what I'll maybe get but because thats what Jesus would have done. I intend to open a foundation someday, but before then I'll give the little I've.

Is it possible to have life imprisonment for such acts?

Its so bad that the terrorist have continued to rain down mayhem on innocent lives in search for vain glory for a 'Supreme being' that can't fight his own battles. The questions are;

I) Are all these political?
II) Are all these the endtime prophesies we should expect to keep unfolding?
III) Why is it that the religion 'Islam' has always been used by terrorists if it has no forms of voilence in its teachings?
IV) If Islam is not a religion of peace, can it be revolutionized?

The problem in this country is always 'our people' instead of 'Nigeria'. The current scenario justifies the saying, 'injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere'. When these Fulani Herdsmen were busy committing heinous atrocities with reckless abandon in the middle-belt, only the people of these states were crying with no help or policies whatsoever from the government, just piles of dead bodies. Now a shift has occurred as in the south west, all we hear is cry with one fanatical and extreme fundamentalist backing these barbaric acts just because he is one of them, a fulani.
Only God knows what region is next. A Fulani man is always on the move and like the elephant he never forgets nor forgives, and always prone to violence even on his own relative. The socio- political and economic life of the Fulani is a case study on its own.
One easily forgets that these atrocities can be done in any LGA, state or region and will continue if not curbed. The government has continuously shown weakness and complete ineptitude towards curbing this menace. What happened to grazing paths, border security and all those foreign solutions?
I believe the 2014 CONFAB tackled some of these issues and gave panacea, nobody is saying anything about implementing this document made by distinguished Nigerians. The government and the president have remained silent.
One shouldn't forget that these Fulanis will always be among us and with us, the decisions to be made on this issue should be for the good of all Nigerians be it Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Fulani or the middle-belters.

More importantly, Nigerians must learn to speak with one voice!

The wise learns from the mistakes of others!
