So what will they be doing? |
You all are welcome to Kebbi State. Back in May I was bitter and asking God why Kebbi of all places, but I thank Him all the same. Dakingari Camp is so hot, no trees but I must confess the structures are amongst the best in the country. I indulge all of u to make ur stay in camp worthwhile, make friends and enjoy it, its an experience. One can never say where u'll find the best buddies to travel along life's path with. I made my stay in Dakingari fun, I presented on stage, dramas, sports and was fully active. Lastly, don't feel bad where u're now. The most important thing in the service year is ur PPA irrespective of the state u deployed to, and the environment. Me for instance, I was posted to Fed Poly in Birnin Kebbi, I lecture just twice a week, 2 hours each and I get paid. So its all about ur PPA. Like my colleague above said, light is almost 24/7, save for the heat, dust and mosquitoes. But with light the heat can be substancially reduced. And I hope u all came with ur jackets because the harmattan is closing in, just as its very hot by November it will get very cold. Brace urselves for the extreme weather. All the best guys, we're all here for u. |
The problem in this country is always 'our people' instead of 'Nigeria'. The current scenario justifies the saying, 'injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere'. When these Fulani Herdsmen were busy committing heinous atrocities with reckless abandon in the middle-belt, only the people of these states were crying with no help or policies whatsoever from the government, just piles of dead bodies. Now a shift has occurred as in the south west, all we hear is cry with one fanatical and extreme fundamentalist backing these barbaric acts just because he is one of them, a fulani. Only God knows what region is next. A Fulani man is always on the move and like the elephant he never forgets nor forgives, and always prone to violence even on his own relative. The socio- political and economic life of the Fulani is a case study on its own. One easily forgets that these atrocities can be done in any LGA, state or region and will continue if not curbed. The government has continuously shown weakness and complete ineptitude towards curbing this menace. What happened to grazing paths, border security and all those foreign solutions? I believe the 2014 CONFAB tackled some of these issues and gave panacea, nobody is saying anything about implementing this document made by distinguished Nigerians. The government and the president have remained silent. One shouldn't forget that these Fulanis will always be among us and with us, the decisions to be made on this issue should be for the good of all Nigerians be it Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Fulani or the middle-belters. More importantly, Nigerians must learn to speak with one voice! |

Former Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday said he decided to shun the judicial commission of inquiry set up by Wike because the panel was illegal. He stated that he would only appear before the commission of inquiry if Wike complied with the law. Amaechi stated that the governor had already adjudged him to be guilty in the presence of members of the panel and vowed that he would go to court over the matter. He insisted that he would not appear before the Justice George Omeriji panel until an independent person or body was called to handle the probe of his administration. “Nyesom Wike was not afraid of God in the past; he never went to church. Today, he is going on bended knees to the same God we worship. Don’t take God for granted because if we don’t go back to God to remind Him, God may answer his (Wike’s) prayers.” Recalling how his relative was allegedly killed in front of Wike’s father’s house at Rumueprikom, the former governor called on President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the deaths in the state. Liverpool are set to sign Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi before loaning him out to a club in either Belgium or Holland, according to reports in the 17-year-old's homeland. He is expected to arrive on Merseyside later this week to undergo a medical. Although one of the stars of the recent Under-20 World Cup, Awoniyi would not qualify for a work permit and loaning him to either country would allow him to take up European citizenship. By Favour Nnabugwu Business activities were on Monday paralysed at the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria by oil workers under the aegis of SeaWolf Oil Field. The disengaged oil workers, Vanguard learnt, who barricaded the entrance of the office were protesting over the failure of AMCON to pay their entitlements which they claimed was in the range of N5bn to N7bn. The workers lamented that despite assurance that the corporation would pay their entitlements after taking over their company-Offshore Management Services, such promises had yet to be fulfilled. Spokesman for the protesters, Mr. Victor Ekundayo said that the agreement reached with the corporation was that their salaries would be paid by AMCON following the takeover of the company two years ago. He said,” We have had several meetings with the Ministry of Petroleum, Labour and Productivity. Ministry of Finance had to intervene, insisting that AMCON pay the claims. AMCON even called us to say they will pay, yet nothing has been done. “AMCON took over our facility in 2013 because SeaWolf was indebted to a lot of commercial banks. They did so without settling the workers. “The standard in the oil and gas is that for whatever reason a company is taken, workers must be paid their terminal benefits, which AMCON has refused to do. “Before we came here, we took our grievances to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and to Ministry of Labour and Productivity. They all asked AMCON to pay us our entitlements. ADVERTISEMENT “In May, we met with the Managing Director, AMCON. He assured us that our claims will be addressed within 48 hours, yet it’s been three months and no word from them.” Ekundayo, alleged that the situation had led to the death and hospitalisation of some of their colleagues. He urged the Federal Government to intervene so they could get their entitlements paid. When contacted, the Public Relations Officer, AMCON, Mr Kayode Lambo said the protest staged by the former workers was illegal due to a court injunction stopping them from doing so. He said, “I cannot tell you what AMCON is doing to address the situation because the case has been taken to court and doing so will be prejudice.” Source:http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/oil-workers-protest-paralysed-activities-at-amcon/ |
SEE NAIJA POLICE o. An old farmer wrote a letter to his son in prison." Son, this year I will not plant cassava and yam because I can't dig the field. I know if you were here you would have helped me." The son replied his father, "Dad, don't even think of digging the field because that's were I buried the money I stole." NIGERIAN POLICE on reading this letter went early in the morning to the farm, dug the whole field in search of the money but nothing was found. The next day, the son wrote his father again, "Dad you can now plant your cassava and yam. This is the best I can do from here. Dad replied, " Ha, my son, you are too powerful indeed: even in prison you still command police men to work for me. I was so surprised to see the DPO and his team holding hoes and shovels, digging my farm. I will write to you when I want to harvest my crops." |
