Family is everything for me. It comes before religion, friends or money. The bond is tight, we are far from perfect but we love ourselves fiercely and perfectly.

Try to come between us, we'd literally kill you, bury you and drown whiskeys with a big grin on our faces on your marker

I understand some people are not so lucky with family. Tough luck.
Very true man

We recognized the struggle in addiction and of a real it not entirely the fault of the victims tho they have a role to play.

Culled from www.transformend.com.ng

Not your fault

The last time we spoke still trills me I went home thinking about your tale, you showed great courage, you try to man up and face the issues. But you where defenseless to what hit you and with no way out in sight you return routinely to the agent of addiction, to what gave you gratification, hoping that someday the sea might dry in a blink of an eye.

You tried so many therapy but it only proved helpful only for a short. time and time again you see yourself swimming in the pool of challenges and uncertain Future.

You know there is a better version so you beat up your self each time you fall short that you are tired and now passive, you try to set standards, new standard to live up to but in each case you sink back.. Hmm

it’s not your fault for you lost your shield, your protective garments had been weaken so there wasn’t much resistance to it. It’s not your fault that life placed you in this position, it’s not your fault for you fought in the strengths of your knowledge but fell prey.

Is not your fault that’s why someone wants to help you, he is offering you a hand of friendship. He is the Ebenezer {helper}. The truth is that addiction has failed to hold up it promises, it own side of the bargain. It promises intimacy and companionship but at the end it leaves you more empty and deserted.

We all need to open up to someone. That how we heal. There is a way out. Let it out, talk to someone that can help or that knows Jesus the Ebenezer.

Share your experience and let's help each other.

Brilliantly elucidated! This thing keeps bugging me sef. What's the next move after graduation? When you see someone saying he wrote 300 tests and attended more than 30 interviews. I haven't really seen the other side of life but you never can tell if you are doing there. I'm sharing this with my counterparts cos I believe they need this; quite a number of youths need this to pierce somewhere in their minds about plan B considering the country we are in.
Thanks OP.
Yes sir.. There is indeed need for plan B most government promises and policies are back sit in reality today .. We might not be fortunate as most countries where company come to pick undergraduate final year students for ready jobs . so there is sure need for a plan B and not just any, one that can stand the trend and time

It's a great write up.

But it should also be said that people also make it with good certificates though relatively small.

People with hard earned certificates should be encouraged to prepare and build for the unseen futures in case it turns otherwise
Very true I concur

In what ways did those books impact in your lives?
The first one made bare my strength and weakness with respect to temperaments and had help to help deal with weakness.. And the second one gave me a picture of friendship in ways that was awesome and once I'd genuinely started practicing it . it became a game changer.. It also help me to learn my self better and work on my self

So we have the responsibility of equipping ourselves with knowledge, skills, developing our potential now that there is time and no better time to do it like now!!
Educational excellence is great in fact I love it, but when the economy fails to hold up its own side of the bargain then I think we need to improvise...

Well said!

I think the need for personal development for the future should be included in school's curriculum.

Many students don't have this awareness, education is not the key in Nigeria anymore, our Government don change the padlock.

Being a graduate with good grades or a first class, isn't a sure banker that you will land a good job, nah! Far from that, these days, good certificates only increases your chances in the over saturated labour market.

Personal development/ self invest is bae!
Very very true.. The days where they give cars to fresh graduate and an awaiting job is past. ..

Will save this write up and show my mum when next i visit her.
as the first child of the family,i av to rely heavily on her advice
MY SON,TO BECOME GRATE IN LIFE,YOU HAVE TO FACE YOUR STUDIES,STAY AWAY FROM FRIENDS.TROUBLE AND ALWAYS MIND YOUR BIZ.
All this i put into action. I end up graduating with good grade but end up having few friends throughout my stay in the university.
av come across my colleagues who depend on me to pass their exam living large. Countless of them are now happily married while am here still depending on a boss to earn a living.
This got to me personally. It can be heart breaking to have the beat grade and not the best life but our parent and society ought to know that good grade is not directly proportional to success. While it might seems to be late.. Its not.. Its not actually too late until you are late.. You can still reach your dreams

Once you leave university then you will get the feeling of how the real world is. You can't ask for assistance because of shame.
So many graduates become mentally lazy, Because of the ever interesting line, go and look for work forgetting that job is a short term solution to a long term problem.

You might be working managing that pay but in the long run, you will see that you have not really achieved much.

So I feel the best Idea is for graduate to equip themselves with 21st century skills and keep improving their skills to suit our ever changing world. I didn't say go and do master's or PhD program. I Said get 21st century skills
Very true. Well said. Having a 21st century skill and entrepreneurship is the way out of unemployment

After graduation what next ?

After graduation what next? This was written boldly on a poster pasted at the school bus park back then when uncle suru was an undergraduate.

He told me the story of how on a certain day, he wanted to take a bus from the park to get to town, but this time instead of boarding the bus on arrival he found him self staring at a program poster with the title “after graduation what next” he was lost in thought and was only brought back to reality by the honking of the bus just beside him.

He hopped in but couldn’t clear his mind of the image of the poster. He has told me the story more than I can count and each time he reiterated, I always pictured the poster from the tone of his voice and the expressions he put up, that encounter obviously had an indelible mark on his life from that time. He told me how naïve he was about life, how he had held on to the aged long slogan of “go to school- graduate well and you get a well paying job”. A pretty simple rule but why then is history filled with men who went against the rule and not just get a great pay for themselves but also provided well paying job for those who followed the rule? He thought.

This got me thinking as he continued, the thought stuck and I was restless each time I approached the bus park, I was just in 200level and the thought of my family class made me realize it will take a miracle to get to my dreams. I did my research on the labour market, the unemployment rate got me more worried as many people whom I knew to be brilliant and had great CGPA where struggling to survive. I figured that the mindset was a derivative of a society that pegged their opportunity and success to the government and her policies.

Little by little I began invest in myself, discovering myself, learning new skills and reading books relevant to my dreams and purpose, attending seminars and took my devotions more serious and in no time it paid off. Bonds in places that matter were formed as I had friends of like minds and mentors which made my journey easier. Today i'm most greatful I broke the rule. Today my uncle suru is successful and every opportunity he gets, advise on self investment.

Every student's desire is to have parents or guardian that attend to their needs especially financial needs. You bask in the steady monthly allowances from them and moral support and you think it forever which indeed is not. You get to relax and leave in the present or get too engrossed in the pursuit of CGPA that you seldomly pay attention to your personal development.

And after graduating and the certificate fails to bring the job what next? When the supposed monthly allowances stops coming what next? When time passes and it looks like you arrived the market of destiny late what next? More so what next when your family or sponsor fails to establish you?
You don’t have to wait to leave school to know what is next or chart your life course. Buried in you are abilities waiting to be unleashed, developed and mastered. While you pursue academic excellence, self discovery and development is also important.

One excuse a lot of people give to justify their status Is the excuse of no time. Its the best excuse given by most students as they recount the amounts of assignments with deadlines, long hours of lectures, and other engagements that seems to suck up the 24 hours like a black hole. The truth of it is time will never be enough and I don’t think there is a plan to increase it to 36 hours a day even if I control time.

That's where management comes to play, setting priorities and being devoted. According to John mason, in his book, an enemy called average. He talked about how investing one hour a day, six days in a week will yield 312 hours a year. There is virtually no feat you can’t achieve in this time. You can be a pro or learn a new skill in the same clause of “no time”. Six hours is not so much to set aside from 168 hours you have in a week.
And if you have graduated and you think its too late and you are all concerned about just surviving then guess what; the best time to plant a tree was yesterday and the next best time is now. It can’t be too late else KFC wouldn’t have made it to reality. Its never too late until you are late.

Knowing what next is like taking a voyage with a well detailed map, though time and chance will have its way but you won’t be thrown off. To prepare for what next you have to equip your self with what's now. The future is uncertain but you can give your self a safe landing by having a plan and charting a course for your life.
If you live in yesterday, you lose today and tomorrow. If you live in today you will lose tomorrow, but if you live in tomorrow you will not only have tomorrow, yesterday and today will be added.

Finally, you should note that i'm not saying that things will always go the way a man planned it. What i'm saying is, Its better to have a plan and if it fails you pick the lessons and grow , than to face life without any road map. Set both short term and long term projection, what next will reveal it self.

Share your stories about life after school, motivate someone!

Hey.. i am an extreme introvert. Peoples first impression about me is either pride or 'forming'. This is not so, i actually yearn to show mad love to people and connect. I also feel limited most times. Having potentials and not being able to fully implement it in the society because i don't want to get noticed or fear of embarrassment. I always feel empty because i am most times alone. i have decided to accept my fate and get used to being reserved. Introverted nature helps me reflect on things, but i want to live a normal live too. This has driven me into depression and sometimes i have suicidal thoughts. This is not a cry for help. I just need answers, solutions, prayers, literally anything at all. Extreme introverts are mostly depressed. sad

Sometimes being an introvert looks like more of a curse than a blessing. But in reality the revise is the case . introvert need a deep sense of love for them self's only then can they overcome the limiting force of fear that result from their personality trait..
