Politics / Re: Umahi: We Don’t Want Fulani Herdsmen To Leave Our Land by Joewiezy: 1:17pm On May 04, 2016
tuale4u:
i think d governor is being wise and smart. Many of us have been so carried away with emotion and sentiment to d extent that we fail to reason.

Herdsmen are Nigerians. They have d right to live anywhere and do business anywhere in Nigeria legally with law and order.

Driving them away can lead to tribal tension and retaliation. Even d cows they rear we eat it too.

I think we should leave emotion aside, and look 4 a smart solution that will be a win win solution.

Just as Umahi the Governor of Ebonyi State is a Muslim from Kano in North west Nigeria!!!

So the herdsmen can't buy land to graze their cattle abi? Don't you know if you want to farm in the north you will have to buy land. Or are the northern governments giving you free farming routes? Use your brain.

Crime / Re: Fulani Herdsmen Kidnap DELSU Staff, Demand N5m Ransom : VANGUARD by Joewiezy: 10:49am On Apr 22, 2016
joborskill:
I laugh at the ignorance displayed by many emotionally clouded Nigerians who are against the grazing bill proposed for the Fulani cattle rearers in all states of the Federation. Let's remember that like every other Nigerians, the Fulani's have the right to live and do their business in any part of the country. It is their constitutional right as Nigerians to own grazing fields in any choice location of the country so far it is paid for or provided by the government. We ought to applaud the move made by the federal govt because it will help in ending the unnecessary violence between the Farmers and the Herdsmen. By provision of grazing fields, the fulani's will be restricted to graze on an apportioned land provided by the federal govt. It will be a crime for them to graze their cattles on people's farms once the bill is passed into law. We should not castigate every fulani herdmen as killers because of the few bad ones among them. The incidence in Agatu and other parts of the country were perpetuated by cattle rustlers and not Fulani herdsmen. Cattle rustlers are armed terrorist who steal cattles from herdsmen and graze them around the country as a cover up for their terrorist acts. The ordinary Fulani herdsmen are peaceful people and will never harm innocent Nigerians. The fulani's do not move around with weapons but sticks to guide their cattle. I observed most critics of this Bill are from the eastern part of the country. The igbos need to realize that the federal govt owns all the land and territories in Nigeria and it can decide on how it chooses to use every inch of its territory. The fulani's have every right to graze in the SE and there is nothing any one can do about it. It is their right as a Nigerian just like the igbos are the most travelled tribe doing business in every part of the country. We cannot decide to restrict all igbo traders to the east because of the attitude of few bad eggs amongst them likewise the Fulani's. Most Nigerians criticized the federal govt when they decide to create ranches and import grasses from Brazil to graze these cattles so the herder wont roam about. Now the FG is shifting plans to create a grazing site for the herders in every state which is not a bad move by all standards. We are one Nigeria and we must learn to tolerate ourselves and live in peace. We must shun the politics of hatred and tribalism. Lord Luggard saw the potentials in our diversity before merging us up to form this great country. We must not allow ethnicity to cloud our sense of judgement when the federal govt proposes law that will favour every Nigerian. We must support the grazing bill so the Fulani's can do their business in peace. BTW i am a Yoruba man from the SW. proudly Nigerian cool

So the igbos have trading zones paid for by the government to conduct business in the north abi? Please get off the burukutu you have been drinking.

Education / 2 Nigerians Get Admitted To All 8 IVY League Universities 2 Years In A Row- CNN by Joewiezy: 10:22am On Apr 06, 2016
There must be something in the water at Elmont Memorial High School.

For the second year in a row, an Elmont Memorial High School student has been accepted to all eight Ivy League schools. Last year, the Long Island high school's salutatorian Harold Ekeh chose to attend Yale University after having his pick of all eight Ivy League schools. This year, Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna, Elmont's valedictorian, will face the same decision.
"Having two students get accepted into all eight Ivy League institutions in back-to-back years is humbling but also speaks to the incredible commitment to children by the families and staff within the EMHS Community," said Kevin Dougherty, Elmont Memorial High School principal.
Teen accepted by all 8 Ivy League schools chooses Yale
Uwamanzu-Nna was also accepted to the four additional schools to which she applied. The experience has been surreal, Uwamanzu-Nna said in a press release.
"My recent accomplishments reflect the hardworking ideals of the town of Elmont, my supportive parents and my dedicated teachers. I am elated, but most importantly, I am thankful," she said.

Ekeh and Uwamanzu-Nna are both Nigerian. Ekeh was born in Nigeria and came to the United States when he was 8. Uwamanzu-Nna is the daughter of Nigerian immigrants.
"Though I was born here in America, I visited Nigeria many times," Uwamanzu-Nna told CNN affiliate WABC. "And I've seen that my cousins don't have the same opportunities that I have. So definitely, whatever I do, I want to make sure that it has an impact on Nigeria."
Uwamanzu-Nna plans to pursue a science-related major. She was a finalist in the 2016 Intel Science Talent Search for her research on cement that could help prevent underwater oil rigs from rupturing. On Monday, she received an invitation to the White House Science Fair.
She is hoping to attend a school where she is able to combine her varied scientific interests, which include biochemistry and environmental studies, she said in the press release.
There are no secrets to academic success, she said. Her 101.64 weighted GPA was earned through hard work.
"I've struggled with numerous classes in the past," Uwamanzu-Nna told WABC. "But I guess what allowed me to be successful ... is my persistence and my tenacity."
Uwamanzu-Nna hasn't made a final decision on what school she will attend, but with acceptance to 12 schools, she has a tough decision to make.

Celebrities / 7 Reasons It Sucks To Be A Video Vixen In Nigeria - Musiccookey by Joewiezy: 11:08am On Mar 21, 2016
To the layman, they are known as dancers in music videos. Others call them ‘music video models but what they are professionally called is ‘video vixens’. Basically, their job is to keep viewers glued to their screen. However, the profession is not as easy as it seems and it takes a lot of work to remain relevant. Below are some of the challenges video vixens go through.
1. Poor Pay
Coupled with the difficulty in getting jobs, the average video vixen earns a paltry N20,000 to N50,000. Some earn way lesser as music stars feel they are doing these girls a favour by letting them feature in their videos.
2. Bad Publicity
In order to retain high level of patronage in the ‘video vixens industry’, one has to constantly be the subject of gossip blogs and soft sell magazines. It is common knowledge that some video vixens resort to staging social media drama among themselves and leaking rumours to bloggers in a quest to remain in the news.
3. No Career Path
It is a profession that comes with little or no prospects when one is retired.
‘Video vixen from 2011-2015’ is not a past job experience a lady can add to her CV.
4. Poor public perception
Most people mistake video vixens for girls of easy virtue. Many would swear ‘video vixen’ is a less subtle name for ashawo. There is always the question of ‘Doesn’t she have parents or siblings at home?’. In many cases, the nature of ‘her job’ might prevent a girl from getting married early due to the way people view her.
5. Introduction To Hard Drugs
In cases where one is required to strip and put up some wild act, some experienced vixens and music directors usually offer hard drugs to young aspiring vixens to boost their self confidence. Hard drugs are addictive and may cause a lady to do things she might live to regret.
6. Skin lightening, cosmetic surgeries
In this era where Nigerian artistes would rather use latino girls in their videos than our local girls, these video vixens try to keep up by having cosmetic surgeries to make them look sexier and applying all sorts of skin lightening lotion to look as white as their foreign counterparts.
7. Unwanted Pregnancies/Abortion
Inexperienced teenage girls who venture into such profession might not see this coming. Going by the high rate of baby-mamas amongst musicians, one can be easily manipulated into unprotected sex with a celebrity that would lead unwanted pregnancy.

Celebrities / Nigerian Songs Vs Foreign Songs - Musiccookey by Joewiezy: 2:10pm On Mar 11, 2016
Music lyrics are known to evoke the deepest emotions and each song has a story. For instance, if you listen to the lyrics of Bruno Mars ‘Again’, you’ll feel like getting married. ABBA’s ‘Knowing me Knowing you’ is a song that will make you feel empty after a breakup. Songs like J holiday’s ‘Bed’ arouse sexual thoughts and Justin Timberlake tracks will make you want to start dancing. But we often compare our local movies with the foreign ones and I think it’s high time we compare the lyrical content of our local artistes with their foreign counterparts.
A comparison of the lyrics of Elle Gouldlings ‘Love me you do’ and Davido’s ‘Dami Duro’ both of which are pop music.
a
You’re the light, you’re the night
You’re the colour of my blood
You’re the cure, you’re the pain
You’re the only thing I wanna touch
Never knew that it could mean so much, so much
You’re the fear, I don’t care
‘Cause I’ve never been so high
Follow me to the dark
Let me take you past our satellites
You can see the world you brought to life, to life
So love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Touch me like you do, ta-ta-touch me like you do
What are you waiting for?
b
Ema dami duro dami duro
Yeah emi omo babalowo olowo

Ema dami duro yeah

And I’m driving all the girls crazy oh

Ji your money oh, money oh gongongon oh gongongon
[repeat]
A comparison of “I Don’t Like It, I Love It” by Florida and Kcee’s Pullover. Both of which are dancehall music.
a
I don’t like it, I love it, love it, love it, uh oh
So good it hurts
I don’t want it, I gotta, gotta have it, uh oh
When I can’t find the words, I just go,
[Whistling/melody] I don’t like it, no, I love it
[Whistling/melody] I don’t like it, no, I love it
All out, turn the beat up
Hey now I’m glad to meet ya
Turn up girl, blow the speaker
Yeah up, think about it now, blow the speaker
I’ll speak louder, let’s get wild tonight
Billionaire bottles, we just down em like
Ain’t no problem, all my roads are right
All right, all right

Oya Show Me Shoki, Shoki Shoki

Oya Daun
b
You gotta go and get angry at all of my honesty
You know I try but I don’t do too well with apologies
I hope I don’t run out of time. Could someone call a referee?
‘Cause I just need one more shot at forgiveness
I know you know that I made those mistakes maybe once or twice
And by once or twice I mean maybe a couple of hundred times
So let me, oh, let me redeem, oh, redeem, oh, myself tonight
‘Cause I just need one more shot, second chances
Yeah
Is it too late now to say sorry?
‘Cause I’m missing more than just your body, oh
Is it too late now to say sorry?
Yeah, I know-oh-oh, that I let you down
Is it too late to say I’m sorry now?
I guess this is why we are yet to win Grammy Awards…

Celebrities / Dear Upcoming Artistes, Here Is Why You Will Never Blow - Musiccookey by Joewiezy: 3:38pm On Mar 08, 2016
The music industry in Nigeria is big business if you play your cards right. If you put in the good work, you can part with the fame and wealth the industry has to offer. However, the probability of blowing as an upcoming artiste is 10:90 if you commit one or more of the mistakes below.
1. Mistaking AutoTune for treble
The quest to be a musician at all cost has made many untalented musicians resort to auto tune. These upcoming artistes with terrible voices now auto-tune the living daylights out of their vocals and fool the public into thinking they can sing. This is why they never get invites for live shows because nobody wants to hear a robot sing.
2. Same lyrics, same beats, different hustlers
“Yo Yo! You know how we do it
Personally… professionally…
I see what you’re doing intentionally
Girl me want it physically
So give it to me give it to me radically
Emotionally… psychologically
You’re turning me on biologically
Sexually… dramatically”
Good luck with crappy lyrics!
3. The bad boy image no longer works
Most upcoming musicians think the only way they can achieve fame is by imitating Olamide image. Upcoming musicians should realize that artistes can also become ambassadors for brands and no decent brand would go for a celebrity who cuts an irresponsible image. Braiding 1/3 of your hair, dying your hair indomie colour, posting photos smoking weed and having the most bizzare haircuts would do you no good. No matter how small an artiste might be, taking such endorsement deals would mean more exposure, publicity and money for the artiste. Can a self acclaimed ‘bad boy’ or ‘bad girl’ be offered such? No!
4. Modelling or singing?
The new trend from upcoming artistes in Nigeria is to send tasteless photos in batches to entertainment bloggers before they release a single. The ladies feel the only way to announce their presence is by posing in half naked attires. Of late, the men have followed suit by releasing what is called ‘egg plant’ photo on their social media pages.
5. Unprofessional Videos
The theme of the music videos is always the same. Riding fancy cars, bottles of alcohols, red plastic cups, flashing fake dollars, clubbing, surrounded by naked women. This is overplayed! How do they expect not to fade into oblivion when there is no uniqueness?
Quality also comes into play in video production. In a bid to save cost, most upcoming artistes shoot their videos themselves or with the help of friends. Videos where your best friend is the director, your girlfriend is the vixen, your brother is the producer and your relatives are the video cast will never go beyond 122 views on Youtube. Everybody can’t be as lucky as Vic O.
In some cases, most upcoming musicians undermine creativity and would rather copy video scenes from foreign artistes. Some of them go as far as including scenes from foreign movies to create the effect they want. Your first music video should be an investment because first impression matters and would make or mar your career.
6. Not advertising
Recording a good track is never enough. You have to advertise yourself aggressively. Go on social networks, forums, musical blogs, Twitter, magazines and radio stations to push your music. Perform in shows, in schools, small events and anywhere possible that can put you out there. If your only publicity strategy is to pay radio presenters to air your song, what happens when you run out of money?
7. Hiding your face
A word of advice to upcoming artistes. TAKE OFF THE SUNGLASSES!!! You are new. We need to see your face if you are serious about fame. Not only that but sunglasses are made for outdoors. There is no sun indoors or at Quilox. It just looks plain silly.
8. Rome was not built in a day
It is worrisome how quick upcoming artistes are to add ‘For Booking Enquires, Contact 08xxxxxxx’ as soon as they release one BBM voice note.
Most upcoming artistes fail to realise they are a nobody, and nobody wants to hire a nobody to perform at their event at an outrageous rate. Always offer to perform at little or no charge at any event you are opportuned to attend. In due time, your popularity and the money it comes with will never be a problem.

Celebrities / Rapper Bob Believes The Earth Is Flat – Insists He Has Proof by Joewiezy: 8:23am On Jan 27, 2016
Dear BoB,
First of all, quit that pawpaw leaves you’re smoking. The high is so intense it takes you at least 1,000 years back.
Best Regards
Musiccookey.
Now back to the story. Bobby Ray Simmons Jr, better known as BoB, American rapper and music producer, believes that the Earth is flat, according to recent tweets from his account. He posted several tweets on his twitter handle defending his theory.
“A lot of people are turned off by the phrase ‘flat earth’ … but there’s no way u can see all the evidence and not know… grow up,”
“No matter how high in elevation you are… the horizon is always eye level … sorry cadets… I didn’t wanna believe it either,”
He shut down any and all attempts from followers to question his evidence, turning their questions about his theories back on them. When one user asked how no edge of the Earth had been discovered, if it were indeed flat, BoB responded: “Have u been to the edge ? or is that what your science book told you”?
BoB how ever got the attention of American astrophysicist and cosmologist Neil deGrasse Tyson who later joined the conversation and pointed out inaccuracies in BoB’s arguments.
On a final note BoB tweeted “Don’t believe what I say, research what I say,”
Now if BoB has passed his basic geography lessons he would have realized that Ferdinand Magellan figured the earth was round over 500 years ago. More recently, satellite images from space have captured the entire circumference of the earth. We would sure tag him to those photos incase he missed it.

Celebrities / OAP Gbemi Olateru Gets Cussed To Hell And Back - Cob Webs Vagina? WTF by Joewiezy: 2:59pm On Jan 26, 2016
Men, i haff tayad. “Cobwebs vagina”, ‘Gorilla Mouth”, “Frog Princes”, “bad breath”…damn
Never in my life have i seen boys who can curse this bad. Couple of days ago Beat FM OAP Gbemi called out some unnamed people for gate crashing weddings. Although she didn’t name the people. Two brothers have collect the shade and identified themselves, then proceeded to drag her ass down a long bumpy road smothering with hot coals. Mehn, these guys can cuss a bitch out. Gbemi is notorious for throwing shade and calling people out on her radio show and also on twitter. She’s not also well liked at her place of work as she rarely socialize properly. I know a few people who have also had unpleasant encounters with Gbemi at Beat Fm Lagos.
She seems to have bitten more than she can chew cause these guys came at her with pure unadulterated venom. Men shouldn’t cuss a woman this bad, no matter the offence. Just walk away. See the posts after the jump.

The twins has raked up deals worth hundreds of millions both individually and as a group. Psquare’s Globacom deal is worth over 200 million till date. Peter Okoye has multi million naira endorsments with Olympic milk, Adidas and Glo (Dance with Peter).

Celebrities / Top 10 Naija Artistes To Watch Out For In 2016 by Joewiezy: 9:43am On Jan 25, 2016
10. Ycee
Omo Alhaji burst into the scene with the single ‘Condo” feat Patoranking. However, it was his monster hit “Jagaban” that really drew attention to the talented FESTAC rapper. “Jagaban” was so successful it was said that Olamide requested to feature on the remix of the song. Ycee’s flow, delivery and wordplay is effortless and this is what makes a rapper a force to reckon with in the industry. His third single “Omo Alhaji” has garnered decent airplays since its release. 2016 should be a great year for the young rapper.

9. Kiss Daniel
After losing out to Reekado Banks in the just concluded Headies award. Kiss Daniel wrote an open letter to his fans promising them more hits in 2016. The G worldwide act has been a hit maker from day one. From his smash hit “Woju” to the follow up single “Laye” and to the feel good song “Good times” Kiss has not disappointed his teeming fans. Kiss has also being on point on features too. 2016 should be great for the artiste. Expecting a debut album this year too.

8. Harry Song
“Reggae Blues” was one of the biggest songs in 2015. The Five Star artiste has been on a steady rise since he joined the label from Question mark studios with notable dance track “Beta Pikin” amongst others. Harry Songs is fast becoming the entertainer of all shayo men and beer parlour constituents with his new found love of kegite like songs. Looking forward to hits from Mr. Songz in 2016.

7. Cynthia Morgan
Nigeria’s current dancehall queen, Kingston property and Northside inc act should do well in 2016. Since bursting into the Nigerian mainstream music with the hit track “I’m Taken” in 2014, Cynthia has not looked back. She followed up “I’m Taken” with two chart topping singles “German Jiuce” and “Come and Do” in 2015. Cynthia possesses a perfect delivery and strong vocal dexterity culminating in a distinct style. Hopefully, Cynthia will drop her debut album in 2016.

6. Phyno
Eze Nnunu had a good 2015 with several features and songs on heavy rotation. In fact he was the go to man for a hit collaboration in 2015. Since bursting into mainstream music in 2012 with the release of the chart topping single “Ghost Mode” feat Olamide, Phyno has become a main stay on the Nigerian Music Industry. We look forward to more chart topping singles in 2016 and probably his sophomore album.

5. Patoranking
Patoranking has done nothing wrong since he came up on the Nigerian Music scene. His features have also been noteworthy. This dancehall sensation has successfully filled the shoes General Pype left behind after he took off in search of greener pastures in America. “My Woman, My Everything” was a must play for all Nigerian weddings (Except you are the G.O of Mountain of Fire or the Lord’s Chosen). 2016 may herald the coming of Patoranking’s debut album. Expect some chart topping singles during the year too.

4. Tekno
Someone once asked, what would Ubi Franklin do when Iyanya no longer makes money. Well, Iyanya is still bankable but Ubi has shown he doesn’t put all his eggs in one basket. Tekno’s “Duro” was arguably one of the biggest songs in 2015. The MMMG artiste’s follow up to “Duro”, “Maria” feat. Selebobo is currently getting decent airplays on the radio. 2016 should be a good year for Tekno.

3. Wiz Kid
Now down to the usual suspects. Wizkid pushed back his third album release from 2015 because the year was getting crowded with Album’s from Wande Coal and Orezi amongst others. Well, 2016 will be no different so we feel the Star Boy should just drop the Album this year. Wizkid enjoyed an amazing 2015 with US act Drake and UK’s Skepta jumping on his hit track “Ojuelegba” . Wizkid also had some notable features in 2015 including the hit track “Bend Down Pause” with Runtown. The single “Baba Nla” off his forth coming album has been enjoying heavy rotation on radio.

2. Davido
Omo Baba Olowo has had a mixed bag in 2015, including the not so palatable baby mama drama. He dropped the hit track ‘Fans Mi” feat Meek Mill and his latest single “The Money” feat. Olamide off his up coming album has been getting decent airplays as well. 2016 is off to a good start for the “Aye” crooner as he took to twitter to announce his multi-million dollar deal with Sony Music a few days ago. Expect a few more chart topping singles from Davido and probably his long awaited album this year.

1. Olamide
Baddo sneh, Eyan Mayweather, the street king and Bariga’s finest, Olamide has something like a cult following. The boy seems to have the Midas touch as anything he touches from street slangs, to dance moves becomes an instant hit. Even the much publicized “back to back” beef with Don Jazzy became an instant moniker online generating hundreds of memes and parodies. Olamide is like a moving train and nothing can stop him right now. He had an amazing 2015 and 2016 is looking anywhere but down for the YBNL boss.

Celebrities / Blackface Disses Wizkid In New Song -accuses Wizkid Of Copyright Infringement by Joewiezy: 3:27pm On Jan 21, 2016
2016 is definitely the year of drama in the Nigeria music industry as the artistes have resolved to tak e no prisoners this year. From the Olamide/Don Jazzy brouhaha, to Wizkid and Dammy Krane’s brawl over intellectual property theft. Now BlackFace has also called out Wizkid on the same issue as Dammy Krane did. On his latest track BlackFace sang … ‘the industry ah pack up with some WannaBE’S Boy whiskey try steal me melody But them copycats na gat me energy Me burn them and send them to the cemetry’ BlackFace had taken shots at Wizkid and Banky w for stealing his song ‘I like the way’ from his Dancehall Bizness album released in 2010 and remaking it to ‘Slow whine’ in wizkid’s Starboy album released in 2011,Now word from the streets is that wizkid stole Blackfacenaija’s song called ‘Since you been gone’ from Blackface’s Dancehall Bizness album and remade it to ‘Ojuelegba’. These allegations of intellectual property theft against Wizkid is beginning to ring true. Hope Wiz is cleared as Blackface has resolved to take the matter to court - See more at: http://www.musiccookey.com/black-face-disses-wizkid-in-new-song/#sthash.oNTVoGq9.dpuf
Music/Radio / Naira Lander Maka P Drops Hottest 2016 Street Hop Yet by Joewiezy: 11:22am On Jan 21, 2016
Okay, this is what you call street music. Fast rising act Maka P teams up with underground buzz Kennish and Benzeeno to produce arguably the best songs from Gidi underground artists. The delivery is on point, flow, on point, street cred on point, hook on point and finally beat on point. Maka P is definitely an act to watch out for. He’s currently putting together his first body of work, a mixtape compilation titled “Beneath Tha Surface”. Listen and let’s know what you think. Follow him on twitter @officialmakap.

Celebrities / Ice Prince Was The Side Chick Afterall by Joewiezy: 4:24pm On Jan 20, 2016
Being betrayed is one thing, being betrayed in front of the world is a different story altogether. Following the drama about the Ice Prince, Maima and Akin brouhaha, it has now been revealed that Ice Prince was actually the side chick and not the other way round. We learnt that Akin was and maybe still is the omonile of Maima’s plot of land while Ice is just a tenant. According to an Instagram user @lilysangel1, Akin is the main benefactor of Maima and even bought her her first car. He is well known to her family, who accepted the relationship even though Akin was already married largely because of the luxurious gifts he has been showering on Maima and her family. Someone even quipped that the Maima girl owe them three kids. hehe.
In a shocking twist, Maima has put up a very confusing defence. She posted that she was with Akin because he was better in bed. Hear her. “Yes i know akin, we dated before i met Ice… and we saw couple of times when i started dating Ice … I know people think i am a Hoe ..i am not …People ask me why i still went on trips with akin after my relationship with ice prince went public… I tell them …cause Akin is better in bed … I mean after all the trips , we get to our room and akin sleeps off without touching me ..i mean when he sleeps in bed he doesnt snor like ice prince… Ice prince snors so bad ..its like he is rapping Oleku over again …. So its free trips and who is better in bed that matters sometimes…but i never cheated on Ice prince”
This is what they call story for the gods….in Olamide’s voice.
Meanwhile, the memes on twitter has hillarious, with people calling Ice Prince the Defender of the universe, someone even blamed the cheating scandal on GEJ.
