TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by Joexzy(m): 9:10am On Mar 03, 2015
Hello, VO, Please I need guidance. In 2013 while I was working in Nigeria, I applied for a US Non-Immigrant visa using an Agent. After I paid the Visa fees in the bank GTB, I noticed some funny character from the agent when she claimed she had scheduled me for an interview. I requested for a confirmation mail as a proof of appointment but she didn't send any. So I backed off the appointment to avoid ruining my immigration status. (Note. I didn't attend the interview because I felt it was a scam). Lately I have been to Germany (studies), Uk and Ireland. Now my question is whenever I am opportune again in the future to visit the US and I am scheduled for an interview, ''when the VO asked if I have ever applied/or rejected for a US visa, what should be my appropriate answer''?

Please note, the reason why I am confused is that I don't really know if actually the said agent truly booked any appointment for me since she couldn't provide me with a confirmatory email from the embassy and I don't want to go and embarrass myself in the presence of the VO in terms of lying.

In summary, booking an appointment and not attending, does it count as a visa application/rejection? and if appointment was booked but not attended what should be the appropriate answer when asked if you have applied for or have been rejected a US visa before?

Thanks

Nb. I have asked this on the non immigrant visa section but it seems the VO is not present. Please can you help me with an answer to this question?
Thanks

emeka55: Please guys, I'm not in competition with anyone and there is no award for answering questions on this thread. At this stage of my life, I can decide not to do anything I don't want to. I learned from this thread and I'm giving back by the grace of God.
For every question I have asked and for every response I have given, I have done with love, I have done from my heart and I've done by the grace of God. That's why even with my schedule I try to be a blessing to someone and of good use to God.
I am saying this because someone whose name I won't mention on this thread sent me a mail saying "I'm trying to show myself and feel like a boss here and they were here before me so I should take a sit".
I have never felt important or superior to anyone as u guys notice I always say "I don't know it all". All I give is my 2 spoons and if u have better information, u can share urs too.
I try to stay as humble as I can be and explain as much as I can cos I was once a starter too.
I had thought about leaving the thread and moving on but NO! I'm not here for anyone and I won't leave for anyone.
Anybody who feels disturbed or inferior to whatever I do, should have his case settled with God. God bless me and God bless everyone.

You can get from ministry of education or from the office of the registrar of your school...first write to ur prospective school and ask them if they accept it...cheers

TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by Joexzy(m): 7:04pm On Jan 09, 2014
Oga emeka I am not fighting or competing with you it's obvious you did not read my message or understand it well. Some school insist u send ur transcript directly from your university. In this case you don't have to certify or notorize it. I still stand to be corrected. Dolapz I hope you understand me. That is why I asked you to contact your school. E.g FAU Erlangen requires u send ur official transcript directly from ur school. You can still ask others in this forum. Thank you and good luck
emeka55: Oga pls stop giving wrong information. Which one is official signed sealed transcript? And who says u don't certify transcript if u are sending to uni-assist?
My transcript was official, signed, sealed and delivered to me yet I opened it, photocopied it and certified it then sent it to 15 schools including uni-assist. U don't have to collect 15 transcripts from ur school to apply to 15 schools whether original or official. One copy is enough.
The only difference is, if ur school will be sending ur transcript direct to the University or uni-assist, they don't have to certify it cos it won't be open but if the transcript enters ur hand, u need to open it and certify the photocopies before u send them.
U can certify documents at either the German embassy in Lagos for free or at a notary public for a fee. I used notary public for all my documents and they were accepted. Confirm which one ur school requires and go ahead.
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by Joexzy(m): 1:44pm On Jan 09, 2014
If you are using the official sealed copy to apply to many schools it will cost you a lot as this will require you paying your school for each transcript that you applied for. For instance in my school is 12k5 for abroad and 7k5 within. that measn for like 5 schools you know how much that will cost you.
now these are my advice to you
1) mail your prospective school or read their requirement and find out if they accept notarized copy of transcript (because some schools will insist it has to be sent directly from your university with the sealed envelop. If the school answers in affirmative that they accept notarized copy, then it is wise and adviceable that you make photocopy of your transcript nad notorize each of them. (note: DONT NOTORISE THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT) just the photocopy.
2) Are you making use of uniassist? If yes then you dont have to worry about certifying the transcript just certify other documents and send your official transcript with your other notorised documents to uni assist
Finally in answer to your question I dont know abuja abj consulate but many guys in this forum have done theirs in Lagos Consulate, Remember you have to be there on time and they are limited numbers of documents they can certify....God's grace
dolpaz: wow, danke Joexyz,
gott segne sie..
Am using the official sealed copy to apply to many schools
so one last question..will all these be done in abuja or lagos consulate?
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by Joexzy(m): 12:22pm On Jan 09, 2014
btween they cant certify your transcript if it is still in a sealed school official envelop, except you are using the student copy of your transcript or the transcript envelop has already be opened by you and you want to use it to apply to various schools. take care and goodluck
dolpaz: Thanks bro, if i may get you clearer, are you saying i will certify both in lagos and abuja or it can simply be done here in Lagos.
Also, how much do they charge and for how long will it take to certify all my documents including transcript??
TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by Joexzy(m): 12:18pm On Jan 09, 2014
You can notorise it in a notary public or you use embassy, any one is acceptable. The only difference is that in the embassy, certification is free but you have to be there on time and I think they have a total number of documents they can certify for each person,. Where as, for the notary public certification, the price depends on your location and bargaining power. Good luck
dolpaz: Hello guys,
so will you advise someone to do the court certification or at the embassy?
if its at the embassy, how much will it cost.
do they charge per page?
can it be done at the consulate here in VI or one "MUST" travel to abuja??
response highly needed
Alle gutes..danke !

TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by Joexzy(m): 10:30am On Nov 17, 2013
transcript that is sent directly from the registrar in your school from a sealed envelope does not need certification. you only certify your transcript if it has been opened (no more official) or if it is a student copy.
emeka55: U should also consider that your transcript needs to be certified. If ur school will be sending it directly to the universities, then they should consider certifying it. That would cost u quite a lot getting different transcripts for diff Universities especially when u are applying to Universities not under uni-assist.
Try get an agent that handles study and travel matters in the state where u reside and talk to them about using their address for ur transcript and ask ur school to send ur transcript directly to the agent's office and then go there to collect it. U and the agent could agree on something.

TravelRe: German Embassy And Visa by Joexzy(m): 7:49am On Nov 04, 2013
Ok Frank, thanks.
franklysco: I used both. Toefl and a letter from my school. I applied to two schools. 1 of them required toefl and the other, just any evidence of english language.
It's safer you do toefl, it gives you an edge.

Thank you very much aroyemu, God bless u real good. I know of the proficiency from my university as I have used that. For my application in Ulm university, but the problem is that it takes time, so I was thinking of using a letter from ministry of education. Thank you once again.
aroyem4u: It is not compulsory u use ministry of education but if u have to, I fink its better its d ministry of education in the state u schooled or better d fed min of edu. And dey have liasion office everywhere. Another option u might explore is to get a letter from ur university stating that ur studies was in english. U can get d letter from d office of the registrar of ur university. Its so easy just request for it and dey will give u at no cost, I suppose. I used the letter I got from my uni and d rest is history
