Surprising no one else tried to do this. Brilliant model, if you're on a run rate of $1m in your 1st year, you're doing something really right. I still think he's paying too much for the movie licences at $3,000 a pop (same as TV stations). |
IBB #FAQs http://www.voteibb.org/faqs/ before someone labels me an IBB crony, I just think this will be an interesting add to the debate |
People make too much of a deal of masonry. In fact the Freemasons are the most charitable and open organisation I know, at least at a low level. A lot of it is founded on religion, to join you have to believe there is a God and the supposed rituals are no more harmful than your Sunday school bible recitations. |
chiogo:Dan Gilbert, majority shareholder of Cavs. Got to feel sorry for Dan, not easy seeing $100m wiped off the value of your team due to a decision a 25 yr old apparently made in his dream. |
Anyone else getting tired of this LeBron James FA hype. What does he need an hour special for when it should naturally take 5seconds to tell us where he's going. SMH |
I don't think many people are angry because he has an account on facebook or that he listens to Nigerians (which is commendable) its just this smack of politicking, mind games and a feeble attempt to soothe the public backlash against the perception he made a rash decision. PS: I doubt he spends that much time on facebook, it's most likely an administrative staff in his office who controls it. Jonathan just gets briefings |
Whether this is a president chickening out or orchestrating a high wired political move is a toss up and depends on who you talk to but I doubt the same people giving Jonathan the benefit of the doubt would have done the same for his predecessor? What political mussleing got lulu out that couldn't have been applied without the threat of a ban? Couldn't the 9 people who booted him not have done that with some other form of internal pressure? If that couldn't be done, what pressure made them kick lulu out even when it's likely they will follow suit? Did we have to create a big hoopla? Did we have to risk our president looking rash and indecisive? |
So Glastonbury's 40th is just around the corner with a massive line up which includes old cats like George Clinton, Willie Nelson, Stevie Wonder and our very own 'beng beng beng' icon femi Kuti. Others include Snoop, Muse, Gorrilaz, Shakira, Tinchy, Dizzie (surprisingly good last time), indie favourites like the Hold Steady, LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, the Flaming Lips, and Vampire Weekend. Infact the list is so massive you should check it out yourself: http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/line-up-poster/ Any Nlers are off to glasto? which acts are you most looking forward to? Those not going can follow live on BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/2010/ |

Lakers playing bad, silver lining kobe-pau-bynum (7-31), shooting 26% and only down 6. |
This seems to be split down the middle with British residents complaining and US residents taking the opposite view |
Terrible play by kobe! |
Chiwetel Ejiofor is a fantastic actor and in my opinion one of the most underrated in hollywood. It's almost an insult to mention him and Dbanj in the same breath when it comes to acting. If dude can play a drag queen perfectly I'm sure he can manage Fela. |
4 Play:Possibly, they do have a shitty sense of humour. Its just I feel there's a lets bash the foreign company sentiment going around while we allow ours who are co-accomplices get away lightly. Having said that, BP should fire their PR strategist. |
JeSoul:I understand your point, the tax payers shouldn't be made to pay but how about also dishing out the bill to other contractors who run it. Companies like Transocean, Haliburton, Anadarko, Mitsui, and Cameron Internaltional. Only $75mill for liability?Yeah, $75mill does seem awfully paltry |
4 Play:you could argue that but a lot peoples pension do rely on BP paying dividends. About £1 in every £6 of UK pensions are exposed to BP. I sympathise with America and think BP should be liable fairly for the actions. BP says it has enough financial flexibility to cover the expenses in the clean up then I feel congress shouldn't force it not to pay dividends especially when some peoples quality of life depended on that very same dividend. |
4 Play:It is not an article, just my own thoughts. The quotes, facts and figures come from articles in the Times and Guardian. I don't know that the US has gone too far. What specific comments can be construed as too far?You have the example of the quotes above. There's a significant anti-British rhetoric going on which in no way helps the 'special relationship'. Obama backing Congress plans to retrospectively raise the liability limit for claims from $75m to $10bn. Compared to other companies like Transocean, Haliburton, Anadarko, Mitsui, and Cameron Internaltional which are also liable for this, BP is being picked on unfairly and has paid a very serious as a consequence. BPs shares fell 47% at one point and before anyone screams punish the 'fat cats' a lot shares are owned by institutional investors, your insurance and pension funds. |
tpiah:Naturally I will agree but £58b has already been wiped of its value, putting in serious jeopardy BPs ability to pay dividends which is the livelyhood of many UK pensioners. I sympathise with the American families but while a solution is been found we can have discussions about different ramifications of the spill. |
Americas extreme language isn't helping matters in the BP spill. There's a touch of hypocrisy when America protects its own companies who do much worse in India from prosecution. They have made an extreme farce of this which ranks quite low in volume of spill. I agree with Boris Johnson when he says America should pipe down. “I would like to see a bit of cool heads and a bit of calm reflection about how to deal with this problem, rather than endlessly buck-passing and name-calling." BP is also being attacked for its quote 'foreignness' with pundits consistently calling it British Petroleum even though it stopped bearing that in 1998 and with US heavyweights like Sarah Palin warning against “naively trusting , foreign oil co’s”, while Charles Schumer, Democratic Senator for New York, referred to BP as “a foreign company that has a tremendous amount of liability for this accident”. In fact figures indicate otherwise. As of December 2009, 40 per cent of BP’s shares were owned in Britain, but 39 per cent were owned in the US. It has six British directors and six American, and employs 22,000 Americans against only 10,000 Britons. When will the US companies like Transocean and Haliburton start having their 'backside-kicked' for their role in this. It's conveniently forgotten that the rig was run by a US company, that most of the safety equipment that failed was US made and that environmental response on the shore was messed up by the US authorities Should we also now start retrospectively passing legislation holding US companies financially liable for their role in the global economic meltdown? UK should be doing more to counter the extreme rhetoric been branded about considering 1 in 6 british pension pound is exposed to BP. Extreme punishments affect executives much less than the owners, you and Is insurance and pension funds. Yes BP should be liable for its role, just saying stop trying to score cheap political points and deal with the situation. I'm looking forward to a discussion and I'm sure there will be people with more information who can throw more light on this. |
What are the chances we'll see scalabrine vs Morrison in this series. Would pay to watch that |
That was a very disjointed and unusual game. I expect LA to pick one in Boston and win game six back in staples. 7 is a toss up |
Ray's a beast! |
Ray's a bad man, no need to worry though, my boy Kobe is now on him |
Boston boxing out well tonight, bad news for LA |
You could make an ideological case for both sides, I choose to look at the causalities and people affected. You could say the soldiers had a right to defend themselves, the same can be said of the activists on board who had the right to defend themselves when a group of soldiers with guns illegally descended on their boat at 4.30am with an aim to physically and illegally divert their boat away from a coast that they have illegally blocked for nearly two years. You could argue why have knife and sticks on board of a peace flotilla, you could also point out that when a group of westerners attacked Somali pirates with those same weapons, they were labelled heroes. Truth is we only have a rough idea of what happened and you can debate who incited the violence, some even claim the activists were waving white flags before IDF boarded but, the indisputable fact is the 9 people that died on that flotilla were the activists, including a 19 year old who was shot in the head 4 times. The same can be said for the recent Gaza attacks where over 1,000 Palestinians were killed including 500 children. Which is where my problem lies, Israel has developed a record of over-reacting as far as possible even exceeding the limits of international tolerance. Israel's belligerence is historic. It is one of the biggest violators of international law. Even its allies are coming out in condemnation. To those who argue for Israel on the basis of them being a democracy among non-democratic states, I'll say the more worrying thing is how much a government is getting away with in spite of being democratically elected. If anyone dares to disagree with the Israeli state, they are anti-semitic, socialists, Jihadist or fools. We need to stop this age-old mentality that the world is out to get Israeli Jews. As long as this is fuelled by one side and exploited by the other, it's difficult to see how this can end. Yes there may be a touch of double standard on how Israels actions are portrayed but that in itself is no justification for those actions. As far as I'm concerned, both Hamas and Israel are war criminals that should be tried but I cry foul when 1.5 million Palestinians bear a far disproportional amount of the pain and are denied their basic human rights. |
Not even sure I should be replying given the posters general view towards Islam and the knack for Nairalanders to insult and term people who don't agree with them as fools. Shanice111:Whatever. If you're writing friction let people know you're writing friction. I like the stories, just pointing out you might want to fact check whatever you're putting there. All these 'babes' 'my friend' 'other third person' statements are getting quite ridiculous and a few might feel you're insulting their intelligence. |
This story is fishy. He walked up to me and said hi, my name is Aina, am currently at the London School of Economics studying for an MBA, whats your story.1. LSE doesn't have an MBA course. The closest you get is a Global Executive MBA run in conjunction with NYU Stern and HEC Paris. Assuming the poster made a mistake and he was on the Global Executive MBA We became inseperatable2. Doubt this can be possible as he would have only spent 2 weeks in London. (Mid September) postpone the wedding until he finished his Masters and got a job3. Need to have a job to be admitted on the EMBA, also it costs over $125,000 to attend. No one spends that kind of money on a post degree programme without a job he said he is 31 and not ready for marriage4. Typical age is 40 years and 15 years experience (Absolute minimum is 10 years). So for him to have finished the course at 31, he must been a professional from age 19. From the above, we can all infer the MBA story is fake which makes me seriously question the credibility of the story. As an admirer of marketing, I like the posters play on emotions and tactics used but until given further evidence I say the story is fake and the 'sequel' just confirms it as writing practice for the blogger. Someone get a nollywood producer on the line ![]() |
Laker fans should be cautious of over celebrating this win and invoking the 'Phil rule'. I suspect the celtics will bounce back in game 2 but if they don't take 2, the series will be as good as over with that their yeye home record |
