Once upon a time in 2005, I saw my brother playing a game he called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas . I shouldn't have been watching this game since I was only eight and there were massive amounts of violence and profanity. But there was something that really resonated with me at that time: my brother was playing as someone that was black.



This was surprising since in most games I would play, it was either an animal-like character or a white person that I controlled. The only games that I can remember playing from that time that had black playable characters were Beyond Good and Evil and the WWE games. But I felt like Carl Johnson, the main character in GTA: San Andreas, resonated with me because he looked like me.

Using the movie as a reference, the Hollywood movie industry has been shy of black protagonist for decades until the advent of the ground breaking Black Panther. In case you're having trouble keeping up Black Panther is currently the fourth top grossing movie of all time that just how profitable the potrayal of the black culture in movies could get.

But why can't we get same in video games?




Modern gaming is certainly guilty of playing things too safe. For every Lucio, CJ, Lee Everett or an RPG where you have free reign over skin colour and gender, there are endless white protagonists.
There’s nothing WRONG with this, but try and list any well-known black protagonists, or female black protagonists. We’re in desperate need of projects that not only exude interest and engagement through everything I’ve mentioned, but to create games that wear these qualities on their sleeve, empowering, educating and progressing society in tow.


I remember the first time I played Mass Effect when I was 14, and I looked up to the character David Anderson. He was just this father figure and sort of a mentor to Commander Shepard, and he went against all the stereotypes of a black male in gaming at the time. I feel like he was a great representation of what a black male can be without verging into stereotype territory.

And let me not forget to say he was so damn cool.

I didn't get into the Final Fantasy series until just a few years ago, but I will always remember Final Fantasy VII because of how turned off I was from the game due to Barrett Wallace. He was loud, as the speech text would make him seem. He would curse at people like Cloud when he was mad, and he was also big and muscular. This seriously disappointed me, because it is not uncommon to find black stereotypical characters in Japanese media.


Understanding what makes these things offensive and not playing into stereotypes of black people is something Japanese developers and anime writers need to learn before feeding into it.

Developers also have a problem with making black people the main antagonist or an "evil character" in games. One of the biggest offenders in this regard is Resident Evil 5. Since this game takes place in Africa, you are expecting to see a lot of black people. The problem is, you are playing as Chris Redfield , a white man , in the game who is killing a multitude of black people throughout.


This led to controversy and backlash when the game was first shown to the public. I remember being on the playground in school back when I was in Jss3 talking about this to friends, because I was such a big Resident Evil fan and this came as a huge shock.


The same can even be said for Resident Evil 4, which has you killing a bunch of Spanish people as a gruff, white man.

We need developers to start adding more black, playable characters in gaming, be they black males or females. We need more characters like Lincoln Clay and Marcus Holloway because there aren't many, and that is a shame.

Questioner:_What are the explanations on Hadeeth Soheeh, Hasan, and Do’eef?

Dr Sharof: Al Hadeeth Soheeh, Al Hadeeth Hasan, and Al Hadeeth Do’eef are the three main categories from the wide classification of Ahadeeth. Soheeh has categories; Hasan has categories; and Do’eef has categories. Do’eef has the widest categorization.
Simply put, if a narration is said to be Soheeh, it means that its chain of transmission requires no comment. It has been transmitted in an authentic way. This is regarding hadeeth Soheeh, just like the ahadeeth in Soheeh Bukhooree and Soheeh Muslim. This means there is no objection as to its chain of transmission.

Hadeeth Hasan is a narration that almost meets the requirement of Soheeh, but the people who reported it are not as sound as that of the people of Soheeh Hadeeth. For example, a person from those who reported it is good at listening and memorization, but he may not be exact in transmission. For example, the statement he heard may come with ‘waaw’ while he reports it as ‘faa’; (like) reporting wadhahaba (And he goes/departs) as fadhahaba (Then he goes/departs). The scholars would say a person like this should be noted. As for the one who writes ahadeeth whenever he hears them but has a bad handwriting such that whenever he recites the ahadeeth there are minor mistakes, his hadeeth will be Hasan. And so on.

As for Do’eef, it implies that there is a liar amongst the reporters or there is a person in the narration who has forgotten all the ahadeeth he reported or the narrator relates the hadeeth from a person he never met. For example, he says, ‘so and so told me…’, and it is discovered from the history of his life that the person had died before he was born. Did they meet in the grave? Therefore, this kind of hadeeth is Do’eef.

(Sometimes) it is certain that he (the narrator) heard it from a person who lived with that person he ascribed it to, but he does not want to mention the person’s name because the person is a liar. Do you understand? That is why it will be regarded as Do’eef. That is why if one is well versed in Mustolah, people cannot deceive one with lies. Nowadays such thing is obvious. For example, if a person hears a statement from someone who heard it from another person who also heard from another person that the VC said ‘so and so’ and he reports it as, ‘the VC addressed us saying such and such’. How is this correct? This is what is referred to as Tadlees. The people who are in the chain are not mentioned and yet he says the VC said ‘such and such’. How come? Do you understand? If a person gives you this kind of report, ask him to tell you the time and give you other details. Do you understand? This is what is regarded as Tadlees. So if a person brings a statement without telling us who he heard it from, it will be regarded as Do’eef. Statements like that are neglected.

That is why the scholars have said if you apply the principles used in ahadeeth transmission upon the people who exist today, only (the statements of) few people will be regarded as important. For example, a person travels to Libya and comes back to Nigeira saying, “when I was with Shaykh Albaanee, we discussed ‘so and so’”. How possible is this? On what day (did the meeting take place)? He is saying it because he knows that he can easily deceive you. Another person says, ‘there was a day we were discussing with Shaykh Ibn Baaz’. When did you go to his residence? You know there are many people who deceive others with statements like this in Nigeria. A person may claim that he studied under the tutelage of Shaykh Ibn al-‘Uthaymeen. I hope you understand. This is what is regarded as Tadlees. Na’am. This is what is regarded as Hadeeth Do’eef. The discussions regarding ahadeeth Do’eef is the reason for the extensiveness of ‘Ilm al-Mustolah. This is because there are many categories of Do’eef. Na’am.

I know most atheists on this page already regard the truth as myths. But even looking at the Shaitan’s refusal to bow and what can be interpreted from it shows atheist have taken after Shaitan. May Allah Grant me wisdom.

Some of you may be familiar with the story because you were formally Muslims. But for those not familiar, here is a brief story about Iblis.

In Islam, According to the Quran, Iblis was a jinn, created by Allah out of “smokeless fire” (Along with other jinns) and created Adam(man) out of clay. The primary characteristic of the Devil, is that he has the power to cast evil suggestions into the heart of men, women, and jinn.

When Allah instructed Iblis to bow to Adam, Iblis was proud and arrogant and considered himself superior to Adam, since Adam was made from clay and he from smokeless fire. For this act of disobedience, Allah cursed him to Hell for eternity, but gave him respite until the Day of Judgment (Qiyāmah), after Iblis requested it. Iblis obtained permission from Allah and vowed that he would use this time to mislead all of mankind from serving Allah and lead them to Hell as a way of revenge against them. By refusing to obey Allah’s order he was thrown out of Paradise and thereafter he was called “Shaitan.”

Now I will be stating the meaning of his refusal to bow and what it interprets. When Iblis refused to bow a lot can be interpreted from his action such as:

1. Immediately he became an ingrate. Ungrateful in all ramifications. Likewise, Atheists, in the eyes of Allah (SWT), your maker, you are being ungrateful for being created. He has given you life, provided shelter, provided all that you need to survive on earth and yet you all are still being ungrateful.

2.Right there he disregarded his creator’s command and ultimately disregarded his creator. Atheists, without much talk, the only reason you all are called “atheists” is because you disregard your creator and aren’t following his command.

3. He didn’t fear Allah. He obviously didn’t fear his creator because he didn’t know he didn’t know the outcome of not bowing. Similarly, y’all don’t fear your maker and obviously y’all don’t know and fear the outcome, Jahannam (hell). Same way Shaitan didn’t know and fear the outcome of his refusal to bow.

4. He declared from that moment that He didn’t need Allah. That he could do his own will, he could do as he likes. He even vowed to mislead all of mankind from submitting to Allah. Similarly, All atheists have declared that there is no Ilah(God) and are currently are living by their own will too. Even more similarly, when most people become atheists, they strive to “liberate”(Mislead) believers in Allah or ilah (God) with “seemingly” intelligent babble.

5. He refused to bow. He cannot/doesn’t praise Allah, and also stopped worshipping all together. Now observe that Allah’s instruction to mankind is to worship, praise, thank and glorify him. Allah did not ask Iblis to thank him or praise him, he asked him to bow. As we all know, only believers praise, thank, and glorify their Lord. Shaitan cannot praise Allah, he lost the right to. Similarly atheists don’t praise and thank Allah.

Allah has indirectly shown us here what it means bow and what it means when you refuse it. Iblis refused one “Sajdah” (bow) and it resulted in his dismissal. Atheists do you know how many sadjah you’re missing? Sadjah is how we Muslims prostrate to Allah.

6. He blamed Allah for misleading him and creating him like that. This is a very famous line for atheists. Most already believe that Allah created them to doom, that he has destined them for Jahannam(hell).

7. Shaitan was formally a loyal servant of Allah, until Allah(swt) asked him to bow to Adam. Obviously Allah denied him the right to be worshipped. Correspondingly, most atheist were formally loyal to serving ilah(God) until maybe misfortune befell them, or as some claim “reason” fell on them. Only few atheist were atheists as a result from being born in atheist homes, there had to be a turning, just as Iblis turned.

8. Bonus. Even Iblis with all his wisdom cannot explain how he was created. All that he knew was that he was created from smokeless fire. That’s why he has created the lie of Evolution for Atheists to follow. Atheists not knowing how they were created, rely on evolution as the reason behind creation.

Atheists, can you see the similarities.

So you see, even though majority of you believes it’s a myth, y’all are really trying in acting the myth out.

When a CD is cracked it no longer plays smoothly we discard it. When your clothes are torn, worn-out or faded sometimes you give it away other times you turn it to rags. When the bulb at home burns, you discard it. When the ink in your pen empties, you discard it. In a company, when a staff fails to adhere to rules or violates a law, the offending staff is fired. All of these goes to show that we as humans, when something doesn’t perform the function for which it was created we discard it. And when laws are violated, we seek punishment for the offenders.

Iblis refused to bow to Allah. Allah created him to follow instructions, to worship him. When he refused to perform the function for which he was created, he was discarded. If you fail to repent and return to Allah, you’ll be discarded (Jahannam)

In the Quran 51:56 Allah says (And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me) only humans and jinns have the opportunity of repentance. Allah’s mercy and love is like the air we breathe – It is for everyone. Atheists, Repent now! Allah (SWT) forgives all sins, nobody is destined for Jahannam (hell).
