Alok Jha The Guardian September 21, 2010 A D V E R T I S E M E N T Aliens might have souls and could choose to be baptised if humans ever met them, a Vatican scientist said today. The official also dismissed intelligent design as “bad theology” that had been “hijacked” by American creationist fundamentalists. Guy Consolmagno, who is one of the pope’s astronomers, said he would be “delighted” if intelligent life was found among the stars. “But the odds of us finding it, of it being intelligent and us being able to communicate with it – when you add them up it’s probably not a practical question.” Fresh food that lasts from eFoods Direct (Ad) Speaking ahead of a talk at the British Science Festival in Birmingham tomorrow, he said that the traditional definition of a soul was to have intelligence, free will, freedom to love and freedom to make decisions. “Any entity – no matter how many tentacles it has – has a soul.” Would he baptise an alien? “Only if they asked.” http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/sep/17/pope-astronomer-baptise-aliens

THOMAS NAGORSKI ABC News September 21, 2010 Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad warned the Obama administration today that if Iran’s nuclear facilities are attacked, the U.S. will face a war that “would know no boundaries.” The Iranian president, who is in New York for the annual meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, spoke at a breakfast meeting with reporters and editors at Manhattan’s Warwick Hotel. http://abcnews.go.com/International/iran-president-threatens-us-war-boundaries-nuclear-faclities/story?id=11689305 |
China's one-child policy, probably the most audacious exercise in social engineering the world has ever seen, could be up for review, as Beijing policymakers worry about the effects of a population ageing fast, with insufficient numbers of youngsters to support them. There is speculation that a gradual rollback of the policy – first imposed 31 years ago – will start next year with pilot schemes in the five provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Zhejiang and Jiangsu. An official at the Population and Family Planning Committee, who did not wish to be named, acknowledged that a change in the rules was being discussed, but added: "There has been no news about any change in policy from the inner circle of government. Any possible change would cause a huge reaction, so the government would take very careful consideration before making any official announcement about this policy." http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/china-rethinks-its-controversial-onechild-policy-2077152.html |

Britain risks sliding into a double-dip recession before the end of this year as the government's promised austerity measures spook businesses into their own hefty cutbacks, according to research. The accountancy firm BDO warned today that confidence among UK companies had been hammered in recent weeks. Businesses are now at their least optimistic since the depths of the recession last year, and BDO believes this indicates that the economy may start contracting again as early as the fourth quarter of 2010. Peter Hemington, BDO partner, said business leaders had heard George Osborne's tough talk on spending cuts, and had resolved to slash recruitment and rein in other expenditure. This is a mistake, Hemington believes, as the real pain will not be felt until 2012 and beyond. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/sep/13/double-dip-recession-looms-business-cutbacks http://uk.reuters.com/article/idUKLNE68C00X20100913 http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2010/09/12/britain-s-top-union-boss-warns-of-a-double-dip-recession-115875-22554853/ |
Doug Stanglin USA Today September 9, 2020 A D V E R T I S E M E N T Fidel Castro tells an American journalist that the Cuban economic model isn’t working. The former Cuban president made the jaw-dropping comment to Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic. Goldberg says the ailing Cuban leader’s remarks came almost as an aside over lunch recently in Havana. “The Cuban model doesn’t even work for us anymore,” Castro told Goldberg. Fresh food that lasts from eFoods Direct (Ad) The writer said he was so stunned that he asked his companion at the lunch, Julia Sweig, a leading Latin America scholar at the Council on Foreign Relations, if he had heard Castro correctly. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2010/09/fidel-castro-concedes-that-the-cuban-economic-model-isnt-working/1 |

For those who still believe in the global warming/climate change change fraud. See more evidence New study slashes estimate of icecap loss AFP September 8, 2010 A D V E R T I S E M E N T Estimates of the rate of ice loss from Greenland and West Antarctica, one of the most worrying questions in the global warming debate, should be halved, according to Dutch and US scientists. In the last two years, several teams have estimated Greenland is shedding roughly 230 gigatonnes of ice, or 230 billion tonnes, per year and West Antarctica around 132 gigatonnes annually. Together, that would account for more than half of the annual three-millimetre (0.2 inch) yearly rise in sea levels, a pace that compares dramatically with 1.8mm (0.07 inches) annually in the early 1960s. But, according to the new study, published in the September issue of the journal Nature Geoscience, the ice estimates fail to correct for a phenomenon known as glacial isostatic http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20100908/tts-climate-warming-science-ice-c1b2fc3.html |
Former US Senator Mike Gravel (D-AK) and Richard Gage, AIA, Founder of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth Discuss Scientific Findings National Press Club, Washington DC, 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 9, 2010 WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Thursday September 9, 2010, Gravel and Gage will host a central press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, presenting hard evidence that all three WTC skyscrapers on September 11, 2001, in NYC were destroyed by explosive controlled demolition. Senator Gravel notes, "Critically important evidence has come forward after the original government building reports were completed." This press conference will be webcast at AE911Truth.org and hosted concurrently in cities throughout the world.* Following the conference, there will be a mock debate during which public statements made by government investigators and other defenders of the official account will be presented and responded to in multimedia format. "They refuse to debate us in person," says Gage, "so we will let their public statements represent them." Gage will release a media-friendly summary of his organization's findings, which are based on forensic evidence as well as video and eyewitness testimony that were omitted from official reports. He will show evidence that the WTC Twin Towers were not destroyed by jet plane impacts or fires, but by pre-set explosives and incendiaries. The non-profit organization, Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, will also call for a grand jury investigation of government report lead engineers Shyam Sunder and John Gross of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. "They were in a position to know the evidence we have been presenting," says Gage. http://news.yahoo.com/s/usnw/20100907/pl_usnw/DC60870 |

ONDON (Reuters) – God did not create the universe and the "Big Bang" was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics, the eminent British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking argues in a new book. In "The Grand Design," co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, Hawking says a new series of theories made a creator of the universe redundant, according to the Times newspaper which published extracts on Thursday. "Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist," Hawking writes. "It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going." http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100902/lf_nm_life/us_britain_hawking |

Four people died and dozens were wounded on Wednesday when police opened fire on demonstrators protesting rising prices in and around the Mozambique capital Maputo, officials said. One of the dead was a 12-year-old boy who was shot in the head. He was found with a school textbook resting beside him and empty bullet casings nearby, an AFP correspondent said. Fresh food that lasts from eFoods Direct (Ad) “Four people died, 142 were arrested and 27 were wounded, including two police officers,” police spokesman Pedro Cossa said. “Police will continue to patrol the streets,” he added. sometimes i wonder why debates on this forum cannot remain civil. Must we insult each other? |
@kunleosho Keep up the good work, your work on tithing made me to have a rethink on the entire issue, I must confess, after reading your post over 2 years ago, I personally embarked on my own research to confirm it. Keep on spreading the good word especially in africa, they really need it because the average african is very spiritual and as such not as open minded as other people. |

Richard Gray Telegraph August 23, 2010 A D V E R T I S E M E N T Unlike current brain-controlled computers, which require users to imagine making physical movements to control a cursor on a screen, the new technology will be capable of directly interpreting words as they are thought. Intel’s scientists are creating detailed maps of the activity in the brain for individual words which can then be matched against the brain activity of someone using the computer, allowing the machine to determine the word they are thinking. Fresh food that lasts from eFoods Direct (Ad) Preliminary tests of the system have shown that the computer can work out words by looking at similar brain patterns and looking for key differences that suggest what the word might be. |

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Israel has "eight days" to launch a military strike against Iran's Bushehr nuclear facility and stop Tehran from acquiring a functioning atomic plant, a former US envoy to the UN has said. Iran is to bring online its first nuclear power reactor, built with Russia's help, on August 21, when a shipment of nuclear fuel will be loaded into the plant's core. At that point, John Bolton warned Monday, it will be too late for Israel to launch a military strike against the facility because any attack would spread radiation and affect Iranian civilians. "Once that uranium, once those fuel rods are very close to the reactor, certainly once they're in the reactor, attacking it means a release of radiation, no question about it," Bolton told Fox Business Network. "So if Israel is going to do anything against Bushehr it has to move in the next eight days." Absent an Israeli strike, Bolton said, "Iran will achieve something that no other opponent of Israel, no other enemy of the United States in the Middle East really has and that is a functioning nuclear reactor." http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100817/wl_afp/irannuclearpoliticsisraelusmilitary_20100817120240 |

David Headley, 49, who was born in Washington to a Pakistan diplomat father and an American mother, was arrested in Chicago in October. He is accused of reconnoitring targets in India and Europe for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the Pakistan-based terror group behind the Mumbai attacks and of having links to al-Qaeda. He has denied the charges. He came to the attention of the US security services in 1997 when he was arrested in New York for heroin smuggling. He earned a reduced sentence by working for the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) infiltrating Pakistan-linked narcotics gangs. Indian investigators, who have been denied access to Mr Headley, suspect that he remained on the payroll of the US security services — possibly working for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) — but switched his allegiance to LeT. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article6960182.ece |
